This spot is very good, albeit I think it's a bit over rated. This is more a function of the hype than the restaurant, as it is very good. We split a dew different pastas, has the appetizers as well and a sparkling red wine as well. I would definitely come back

If you are anti Israeli war crimes, anti genocide, or just anti overpriced italian food cooked by a zionist - do not eat at this place. Their founders are donors to israel and issued a bs statement that "nobody deserves to feel unsafe" - of course they would never care about Palestinians as they struggle to survive an "unsafe" genocide everyday with 30,000 dead. BOYCOTT.
Be the first to ReplyOverall a good experience, chic environment, stylish food.
Not sure if it's worth the hype but def not disappointing. The olive ice cream is great, and ricotta bread is bum!

Pretty flavorless tasted like unsalted butter but maybe others who don't need flavor in their food might enjoy it .. however, there was great service and we loved seeing the chef's cook!

Walked by a few times and finally got a brunch reservation. Delicate little pasta dishes definitely its selling point. You can't get orders to-go because they want you to have it fresh. We were seated at the bar and it was fun as a girls date. The non-alcoholic drink options are great. Would recommend!

5/5): Finally a NY Italian spot that is worth the hype and pleasantly surprised how much better it was compared to their sister restaurant Lilia. The service was welcoming, checked in consistently, and had great recommendations. We sat at the bar and it wasn't too crammed and would definitely come back to try the rest of the menu. Ricotta Toast (5/5): Lives up to the hype! 60/40 ratio of cream to bread and the bread was crunchy and well done with olive oil. The cream itself wasn't too cheesy, very light, and worth the lactose intolerance pain Grilled Artichokes (5/5): I was shocked at how much I liked these, and think it was the light pesto dressing that brought together all the flavors. Perfect portion for sharing Spinach Tortilini (4/5): I like brown butter so this was incredible but expect it to be really buttery. Spinach wasn't too strong and I thought it was cooked nicely Linguine (5/5): Star of the show and can't get over how good the tangy flavors worked together and the breadcrumbs was the best add for crunchy texture. Pasta was cooked al dente and I'm dreaming of it still Gelato (Milk and Almond Flavor): Good gelato but nothing special, I'd want to try the other flavors next time

Had lunch at Misi this past weekend to celebrate an anniversary! Although it was pouring that day, we made it to our lunch reservation. We were seated by the bar where we could see a group of ladies making pasta in a separate room. The restaurant was pretty full with only a few empty spots. After reading many reviews we ordered the classic ricotta toast, spinach and mascarpone tortelli, the butternut squash, the chitarra with braised lamb and the olive oil gelato. Ricotta Crostini with Trumpet Mushrooms - the ricotta toast is pretty bland by itself. Ask for chili flakes because it adds a nice pop! And combined with the trumpet mushrooms, this app was eaten easily and quickly. Butternut Squash - was not a fan of this one! There's an unexpected citrus marinade which I did not appreciate. Otherwise it's grilled well and very soft. Chitarra, Braised Lamb - very average. The lamb was well seasoned and tender but the pasta was ordinary. Tasted like something you could make at home. Olive Oil Gelato - a nice touch to end the meal! It's so smooth and creamy that I wish we could have had a second helping! Overall, pretty good! Would recommend the creamier pastas over the tomato-based ones. Wish we ordered the sheep's milk ricotta filled occhi instead. Also, the restaurant is pretty out of the way as the closest subway stop is a 15 min walk. We came just to try Misi but we'd only come back if we found ourselves in the Williamsburg area again.

i tried getting a reservation weeks in advanced but they were booked. but we were lucky to find a last minute reservation at 5pm and took it. dont try to walk-in as even the bar seats are reserved. the atmosphere was so elegant. the staff were good --not too friendly, not rude either. the food was so delicious but i didnt love the mushroom appetizer and the lemon ravioli. but the desert and cacio e pepe was devine.
Be the first to ReplyMisi is good but I do not understand the hype.
It is a fancy pasta place so I do not quite understand the long wait and reservations. I'd say the dessert was great.

- Misi is incredible and is a must check out pasta spot in New York City. I have heard of all the hype and was curious to check out this spot. We were able to score last minute reservations during a week night. The ambience is welcoming - well decorated, dimly lit and busy. We were seated immediately. We ordered 2 appetizers, 3 pastas, and 2 desserts. Here are my thoughts by entree: - Whipped Ricotta Toast: On its own, this is a little bland - I did like the cool, airy ricotta on the crispy hot bread. This item comes with a side of oyster mushrooms - once you add this and a little chili flakes the toast is awesome. The mushrooms have a really delicious rosemary sauce that they are served in - delicious! - Romenesco - This was a cooked down cauliflower dish with herbs, spices, and sauces. I loved this - so flavorful. Ate this with my ricotta toast and it was amazing. - Spinach Mascarpone Tortellini - absolutely delicious, the sauce was ao rich and the pasta dumplings themselves were so tasty. This is a must get and was a table favorite. - 50 clove pomodoro - All dente rigatoni in a red pomodoro sauce - standard but really tasty, the pieces of cooked down garlic melted in the mouth. Wish the red sauce was a little more flavored but this was also solid. - Butternut Squash pasta - we were told this is being removed off the menu (and rightfully so) the pasta was flat and there pieces of breadcrumbs and butternut squash- this dish was no where near the others, would skip - Almond and Chocolate Chip Gelato - both delicious, so refreshing and creamy. Would love to come back to try out more of their veggie sides, pastas and more gelato flavors!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service.
Food is great. Sitting at the kitchen counter is a great experience. Gives you a first hand look on how much effort is put in by the staff in preparing the meals.

I had a great experience here at Misi! The staff is very friendly and the interior is cute and nicely lit. The Ricotta Toast appetizer is a must get, and the Grilled Artichokes are delicious as well. The mushrooms pair well with the Ricotta Toast too! We got two tomato sauce pastas, a Sheep's Milk Ricotta Pasta, and the Spinach and Mascarpone Tortellini. The Ricotta and Tortellini pastas were both our favorites - definitely better than the tomato sauce pastas. Don't skip on dessert here as well! The Espresso gelato was full of espresso flavor, and the pistachio gelato had bits of pistachio in it. They were both super creamy and a great way to end the meal. One downside to this place is that portions are pretty small, so you might be hungry afterwards if you're a big eater.

The food was amazing! The spinach and mascarpone filled tortellini was so good but very rich, it filled me up so quick. Service was great:) Waiter was very friendly and answered all the questions
Be the first to ReplyWorth the hype.
Didn't expect the gelato to be such a hit (not pictured, as it was devoured so quickly).

I've gotten so many recommendations to check Misi out and I was finally able to grab a reservation for a Sunday lunch time spot. I'm so glad I tried Misi and knocked it out of my restaurant bucket list. I highly recommend getting a bunch of dishes and sharing it. For the appetizer we got the roasted trumpet mushrooms sott'ollio with whipped ricotta crostini. I am not a fan of mushrooms but the mushrooms were seasoned and cooked so well. The whipped ricotta was also very good. Another review said that the whipped ricotta tasted like glorified cream cheese, so I was worried but I was so wrong. This appetizer was probably my favorite dish. The mushrooms paired so well with the bread. For the pastas we got the spinach mascarpone tortelli and the chitarra. The chitarra is a bit spicy and the tortelli was kind of sweet. I thought it was a great idea to have two different flavors of pasta. For dessert we got the fior di latte gelato. It's like a sweet cream originally vanilla gelato and it was so creamy.I don't think I'd come again unless someone was visiting New York. The foods a bit pricy so I probably won't come here often

I managed to score a 7:30 reservation at the bar for my birthday, and the staff at Misi made it a really special and memorable meal. Everyone was incredibly kind and attentive, with several people wishing me a happy birthday and bringing out an additional fior di latte gelato with a candle at the end of the meal. The service could not have been better. In terms of the food, Misi truly lives up to the hype. The whipped ricotta toast with trumpet mushrooms is life-changingly delicious. The sheep's milk ricotta occhi was the star pasta of the evening, but possibly my favorite dish of the evening was the olive oil gelato. I've never had anything like it, and I think it'll continue to appear in my dreams for years to come. Every other dish that we ordered was really excellent as well; everything is prepared simply but to the highest quality and with exceptional flavor. Between the service, the food, and the wonderful ambience, I could not recommend Misi enough!

I am honestly mystified at how this place is so highly rated. The atmosphere is lovely, and the smell when you walk in is promising, but that is where it ends. We we're hounded 2 days before our reservation to confirm that we were, in fact, going to make it. And then we proceeded to wait 20 minutes to sit at our actual table when we got there. Our waiter took about 25 minutes to take our order, and then our food took another hour. What arrived was deeply disappointing - over cooked pasta with no flavor or balance of seasoning. I'm a pasta girl, and I could not stomach more than 3 bites. Maybe we came on an off night, but what a disappointment - there are a million and one other places in nyc to get consistently great pasta.

We booked this place last minute after stumbling on an available reservation for 1 hour later. Since the next availability was for the end of the month (we went on the first weekend of the month) we figured it was "now or never".It didn't take long for us to get seated and service was very efficient. The ambience of the restaurant was very modern and the main highlights of the room were clearly the pasta making space and a very well lit bar.We ordered 3 dishes. The first vegetable dish was our favorite. A simple Italian Broccoli dish with salty and sour/acidic notes. 8/10 for this. Unfortunately, after this dish, we were disappointed with the rest. The 2 pastas were very bland. The spinach Tortellini was so buttery it was almost too buttery. The sheep's milk Occhi only added more richness to our meal to the point where we struggled with finishing it. The lemon/citrus notes were a nice thought but the execution aka taste, felt somewhat sloppy given that the flavors did not combine very well. The gelato was a good finish, especially for people who liked Dark Chocolate.Overall, given that this restaurant was a trek for us to get to, we don't foresee it to be worthy of repeating. It was honestly a very disappointing meal given the expectations of how hard it was to secure a reservation here.

Delicious food, great atmosphere! It's definitely not healthy (see butter sauce in tortelli photo) but it's soooo good. I made a reservation 3 weeks in advance for 2 at the counter. I don't typically like mushrooms but the trumpet mushrooms that came with the whipped ricotta toast were delicious!
Be the first to ReplyThe first time I heard about Misi was while watching
The first time I heard about Misi was while watching Barefoot Contessa; Ina was making an arrabbiata sauce in a similar style as her FRIEND Missy Robbins, and mentioned she owned this restaurant. This intrigued me since I love pasta, and Ina's recommendations rank high for me. I placed it in my bookmarks with the intention to try it, and finally got the opportunity the other night. Misi is located in South Williamsburg, not far from Domino Park on the ground level of what looks like upscale residences. It was a job to get a reservation here; this and Robbins' other restaurant Lilia (also in Brooklyn) are very popular and usually booked solid. This only made me more motivated to get a table here - I really wanted to know what the hype was about; was Misi truly one of the best pasta restaurants there was, or was it simply due to it being in a trendy area and owned by a notable chef? Reservations open 30 days out at 10am, so I set my alarm and snagged a late table. Misi gives off modern aesthetics - the restaurant is bustling with an open floor space. There's an open kitchen area, a moderate amount of tables in the dining space, and a bar along the back wall with more seating. I also noticed a separate room that almost looked like a prep room but I sense could also double as a private dining area. The color scheme was pretty monochromatic; with the exception of some greenery towards the entrance, the entire restaurant is covered in white. I really liked it - the sparse decor and light color played against the somewhat loud noise and busy atmosphere. The menu is relatively simple - comprised of vegetable starters and pasta mains. There were three of us, so we decided to split three starters and three pastas. To start, we got the citrus dish which, in addition to the fruit, came with smoked ricotta, olive oil, and basil. We also got the grilled broccoli with provolone and breadcrumbs, and the cannellini beans. These were all very good - my two favorites were the broccoli and cannellini beans. They had a good balance of ingredients and great flavor. For our pastas, we got the rigatoni pomodoro, spinach and mascarpone tortellini, and the bucatini. These were all great; notably, the rigatoni tasted very fresh and the basil flavor was prominent, even if you didn't have a leaf on your fork. The tortellini was really unique - the filling was creamy without being too rich, and the brown butter really elevated the dish. The dessert menu is equally as simple, consisting of gelato and coffees. We decided on three flavors: pistachio, olive oil, and fior di latte. My two favorites were the pistachio and olive oil; the former was really meaty - good flavor and loaded with pistachios. The latter was one of the most unique gelatos I've had - prominent olive oil flavor which met you at the back of the throat and paired nicely with the cool creaminess of the gelato. Service was great, everyone was super friendly and everything came out at a good pace. So, is Misi worth the hype? Well, I think it's worth going but I don't see what they offer correlate to the relative difficulty there is to book a table. I've been to other Italian restaurants that serve equally as good if not better pasta - they just don't have the name and location that are behind Misi. Still, I would definitely return here for another meal, and now I'm intrigued to try out Lilia. The Barefoot Contessa has yet again pointed me in the right direction.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was absolutely incredible.
From the appetizers all the way to the dessert. There wasn't one bad bite. This place is truly worth the hype. My favorite pasta dish was between the sheep's milk ricotta and the fettuccini but they were really all amazing. The service was outstanding, they were so helpful if we didn't know what to order and helped us create the perfect meal. The place was bright and beautiful during the day and dark and romantic at night. When we got there we watch them make the pasta for the night which was so interesting to watch them cut each of the strands of pasta with such care. I will 100% be back.
Be the first to ReplyThis was one of the best meals I've ever had.
The mushrooms and ricotta toast is a must have. The pasta was delicious, and the service was great. Loved it!!!!
Be the first to ReplyI believe it's one of the best Italian restaurants in town.
Compared to via carota, I sodi and Carbone this was way better

I discovered Misi through its online hype and was able to snag a 4:30pm reservation. Based on the hype, I had high expectations. For drinks, I recommend the A+T spritz which was refreshing and citrusy with warm spicy undertones. We started with the ricotta toast with mushrooms. It was flavorful and hearty but both my friend and I ended up scraping much of the ricotta off the toast. Yes, it's a pretty design, but the sheer amount messed with the flavor balance. I spotted a man at another table doing the same thing. For pasta dishes, we ordered the spinach and mascarpone ravioli and the the braised lamb chitarra. The pasta was cooked well in both and the lamb sauce was tender and flavorful. The spinach ravioli was definitely rich, and you have to be a fan of butter to like it, but I enjoyed it. We ended with the mint stracciatella and pistachio gelato, both of which were excellent (credentials: I worked in a local ice cream shop for over 4 years). Overall, the food was filling and delicious. That said, there are definitely comparable Italian restaurants in both Brooklyn and Manhattan.
