🤮 1/5 - Rotten to the core

This restaurant is rotten to the core. With reservations, dressed better than many of the other patrons, we were seated in an empty row of tables. We were given menus when we sat down. It was 20 minutes before anyone came to our table. When the waiter finally came, it was "can I take your order". So there was no offer of drinks before ordering food. It was like being at a diner. His demeanor was terse and abrupt. And he wasn't even German (middle-Eastern). Horrible start. We had our drinks and appetizers, and we're disappointed that the "large" bottle of water that we ordered was only 500ml. We noticed that the other tables all had bottles twice the size of ours. When we asked what that was about the waiter claimed that was sparkling water and ours was still. Apparently we were the only ones buying still water? I asked for a glass or red wine. His response was " do you want Cabernet, Merlot or Bordeaux? I had to pause for a moment, as this is not what anyone would ask in a decent restaurant. I then described the type of wine I prefer. He said "I have something you'll love". He came back with a carafe and proceeded to dump it into the glass. Normally they give you a taste to make sure you like it. But nope. After a couple of sips I found the wine to be inadequate. But I was stuck with it. We waited and waited for our mains. I lost my appetite. After 30 minutes of waiting since we'd finished our appetizers I flagged down the waiter and said to cancel my main, as I had lost my appetite. The waiter rudely stated that the wait was normal in a restaurant with over 100 patrons, as if I never had been to a restaurant before. He then came back with the bill. I told him my wife still wanted her food, why did he close us out? He said I was cancelling the entire table by canceling my dish! I then went and found the manager and explained what had happened. His response was, "so does your wife want her food or not?" No apology. No recognition of the terrible service. So we left, paying 95Euroa for 2 overpriced drinks, 2 sips of cheap wine and 2 appetizers. Don't set yourself up for disappointment. Just go elsewhere.
