Monarch is a must visit
View is amazing from the 49th floor! Food is great. Portion size is family style. Our server was excellent and knowledgeable.

I loved this restaurant. The food was great and the atmosphere was amazing. The service was good as well. My only disappointment was at the bar. My husband asked what type of bourbon. He was told of the types he liked. He ordered a bourbon for $80 but was NOT told that for $20 more he could get Pappy.... Well, yes, we would have ordered a Pappy instead! I think the bartender didn't make the offer and we missed a great opportunity. And, go to the bathroom.... If you know you know ;)

Poor service from start to finish. We were asked twice while waiting for our reservation if we were another guest. We were seated late. Dress code policy not enforced, ok to wear a t -shirt, no collar policy not enforced. Waiter introduced himself twice and then got lost for hour. Finally had to go get a manager who I assume was to above taking our order. Another server assigned to us who had to yell the specials for us to hear them. The setting was so loud you could not hear others and enjoy your friends. Huge disappointment, not worth trying. So many other great places in Dallas eat at and for prices you will get good service at those places.

In Downtown Dallas for business. Flew in arriving after 5pm. Did a search of nearby restaurants and Monarch shows up with decent ratings. Decided to try it - appears to be Italian. This restaurant is to say the least OUTSTANDING!! We were greeted in the lobby and given a complimentary glass of champagne. We then traveled up 49 floors to the restaurant. Every table has an amazing view of the Dallas skyline. The staff Sommelier recommended an outstanding wine from Tuscany to pair with our meal which included Octopus, Salmon and Lasagne. The food was outstanding and so was the wine pairing. What was so unexpected was the vibe of the restaurant. We were there on a Monday evening so expectations were low. However the vibe was young and energetic. We are late 50’s and just loved the the entire setting. Outstanding food, service and atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who enjoys a good meal, wine pairing and atmosphere. Ideal for couples and adults. Also affordable for those looking for a classy superb meal.

Our server MYKAL is responsible for at least half of these stars. I rate not only for the food but the experience given and I will tell you Mykal exceeded our expectations. From start to finish, he made sure we were taken care of. He's extremely knowledgeable, down to earth, and exemplifies professionalism. He made sure we got the full experience. My daughter has high functioning autism and he did not know. Not only did he make her feel included, he gave her some amazing suggestions as well as being patient with her making her decision. This brings me to my next point. Mykal knew the menu inside and out. Not only was he able to tell us the fan favorites as well as his favorites, he was able to give us HOW it was prepared and each ingredient. Not once did he look at the menu, he KNEW it. Even when we asked about other items, he was able to run down the item, preparation and ingredients. I am a pescatarian and I tend to look at the menu prior to booking to anticipate what I am able to eat. We made him aware of my dietary restriction at the beginning of the meal. When I was putting in my order, I chose a side that I thought was vegetarian and he immediately knew that it wasn't (there was no "let me check with the kitchen", or waiting until it arrives at the table to be disappointed to find I am unable to eat it). He needs a raise or to be in a management position or something. We love fine dining restaurants for birthdays & our new year tradition and we've never come across a server that was knowledgeable, down the earth AND professional. It's extremely rare to get a server that has all of these qualities. Please share this with corporate because we were absolutely blown away! Another staff member who was amazing was the woman that cleared our table. She was extremely friendly as so efficient. I wish I remembered her name but she is pictured as well. It was so impressive how efficient she was all while smiling and talking to us and my daughter as well. Everyone else was friendly but these two staff members stood out the most to us. The food was good. The oysters we heavenly and so were the sauces that they came with. The garlic mash potatoes were my favorite side, they were delicious. Thank you for the most amazing experience. We will forever remember our 2022 New Year tradition celebration at this restaurant and we will be back due to the impeccable service! Please enjoy my photos!

Expectations were low as I had read numerous reviews we were attending an event in Hotel which made an easy option service was great drinks as well but food was definitely not impressive! Unless willing to pay $200 for premium filet other options were lacking would revisit for views & drinks but would go elsewhere for much better food!

Came here for my wife's birthday dinner. Our server, Jessica was on point with all of her recommendations. First off, make a reservation to make it easy on yourself. Ask for a window table, for the views of Dallas. You're on the 49th floor! For our drinks, I had the Diamond Noir, and my wife had the French 75. For our starter, we shared the wood-fired meatballs, which had great flavor. Based on server recommendations, I had the short rib bolognese as my entree, and my wife had the lamb chops. We got the carbonara to taste, as well as the sides of brussel sprouts & garlic whipped potatoes. For a dessert, my wife enjoyed the toffee cake pudding & raved about it. Everything was fantastic. Then Jessica took us upstairs to the lounge on the 50th floor (Kessaku) for champagne & 360-degree views of Dallas. FYI, valet is $10.

I recently attended a private event at Monarch. We were on the 50th floor with a great view. The food and service were excellent. I'd go back for dinner.

If you are looking for a loud, crowded and chaotic dining experience with great people watching, this is the place. Its food and service don’t justify the price. While well presented and prepared, each of our courses was remarkably under seasoned-good food but not great. The wait staff was oddly dressed in various combinations of black clothing from T-shirts to jackets. The lack of training and professional presence was noticeable. They were friendly yet inattentive and detached; all in all it seemed more Golden Corral than Al Biernat’s.

Request a table by the windows - beautiful views as the sun sets and the fun lights come on! The som gave us a great recommendation for wine for our dinner, the wine list is in a huge binder! The meal was in general was good, highlights were the meatballs appetizer, ravioli main, and toffee cake with passion fruit ice cream were especially delightful! The greeting with sparkling wine was such a nice touch. It is expensive.

Wow i cannot get over the Monarch from drinks to the food and the views just wow. Tried the Turbot and the spicy vodka rigatoni excellent cannot wait to go back
Be the first to ReplyOMG what has happened to my wonderful experience at the Monarch!!!
I DO NOT know what is going on with this window view charge of $125 each person, non refundable, CAN NOT pay your tip or taxes with what is left over!!! The website did not state that fact when we booked it several weeks ago!! We called the manager over and debated this issue for a few minutes but she did not care. No concessions were made to work with us. We know they are making this up as they go because our friends had previously ate there on June 7, dined at the window seat and was not charged a fee of $125. So Monarch what the heck is going on there??? Plus one of the waiters told us this was also a mess with the window seat charge. I have ate all over the world and never had this type of fee charged for each person dining. So BEWARE when you book the window table now because you are not getting a dime back, can't use it to pay the tip or taxes. We enjoy the food as it is excellent but I could buy an airline ticket and eat at some of the best restaurants in the USA without having to pay this window fee. So sad to say we will not be coming back and still in amazement how the experience has ruined a place we love to dine at. SHAME on you Monarch for treating your patrons this way!!
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the money for window view
I have visited twice now. The first time I was struck by the location and atmosphere and really enjoyed my meal. On my most recent visit I booked for 5 and they required a 625 dollar deposit to sit by a window. What I did not know was that it was non refundable and did not apply to taxes or tip. We did appetizers, multiple drinks, dinner and desert and still lost over one hundred dollars. And the tax and tip is based on the full amount even though we did not eat that much so I had to pay that in addition. The management would not work with us at all on the additional charges. I will not be visiting again and would not recommend.
Be the first to ReplyTruly an over the top experience. The food, ambience, service and drinks all hit the mark.
The location is certainly special and everything about the restaurant experience matched the excellence. Great food. Great service. Great drinks. 5 star worthy across the board.
Be the first to ReplyGreat birthday celebration
We took our daughter to celebrate her 21st b-day. Made reservations 3 weeks in advance. Arrived right on time and we were offered champagne for the elevator ride to the 49th floor. We were seated immediately and met by Jenna our waitress/table host. She was amazing. Made great suggestions and recommendations while constantly checking to make sure our visit was memorable and entertaining. All in all it was a great time. The meal was fantastic and the service from Jenna and the staff was top shelf. Costly but worth it.

From the complimentary champagne 🥂 going up to the 49th floor to the view and desserts this restaurant checks off all the boxes!! The lobster and in house made spaghetti pasta dish was amazing. The drinks were strong and delightful. My husband loved his filet. Our server Victor was very thorough in explaining the menu. Always made sure we were doing ok! The ambiance you get in this restaurant is beyond amazing. We celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary and it was a great meal. The view of the city is an extra bonus! We will definitely be back!

The experience was underwhelming to say the least. Had to send a dish back as well as multiple cocktails. Also, their staff were rude and clearly didn’t care about making it feel special. They have a long way to go. Will not be back!

This restaurant features something for everyone. My husband enjoyed the filet and I adored the Whole Main Lobster with home made spaghetti and a buttercream sauce with basil and chili. The wood oven roasted baby artichokes were delicious. Even the warm foccacia bread was served with honey and marscapone. You MUST try this Gourmet restaurant. RESERVATIONS required.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Views, Food, and atmosphere
We had a reservation early in the night and did hit some traffic , then valet was busy so I would recommend giving yourself some extra time if driving yourself.
Once get to top, views are amazing, we met another party in the bar who said service was great, dining room has a lot of energy and you feel like you are in a nice place with a great atmosphere. We all agreed that even though we were getting entrees that we needed the lobster spaghetti as a shared side to go with our other sides. It did not disappoint, was exceptional. Wine list is good albeit pricey, probably not the best value you can get, but still an exceptional experience with great service and food.
Walk in like you know nothing about the place...
The title is true to my story. I had heard the food was good, that friends frequented the place, but that's all I really knew about it. I thought it was beautifully decorated, the staff was nice and attentive, they sat us right on our reservation time, and the food was excellent.
I think I had an advantage in my situation when I went. I feel like each person appreciates different aspects of a dining experience. Some will appreciate the food. Which is excellent so those people will be impressed. Others want the table cloth to be black instead of white. If it's not black...the whole restaurant is "terrible" before they even sit down.
How many people will hear about the amazing food and great time the person ...that loves food...had? A ton and they make the place seem like it walks on water. Then your expectations are.."this place better start walking". Now...how many will hear about the table clothe incident? No one, because that person doesn't have friends.
Know what I mean? It is almost like the time when the movie Titanic came out. It was ruined because there was sooo much talk about it. When I got to the movie theater I expected white glove service and to be escorted to my seat with a cocktail waiting for the best movie of my life. The difference is....I actually got that at Monarch...minus the movie. SO...just go in like you know nothing and it will be everything you would want it too be.
Excellent Food
The food was outstanding. The atmosphere was for a younger crowd as I felt old in the place, but it was a fun time. Really enjoyed the experience. I will note that it was a bit pricey so expect to pay for what you get.

On the plus side, the room is beautiful, very sophisticated. The sommelier made a nice wine choice for us. And some items (the oysters) were tasty.
The service was really intrusive. Too many divebombs into our conversation to tell us what was being delivered or ask us what else we might want.
Too many 'my loves' and 'are we having a wonderful time's' and 'that's my favorite item's. We were constantly surrounded by staff going every which way, moving in, moving out. Talking to us
The result -- having a meaningful holiday conversation with our friends was almost impossible.
Sophisticated service is seamless, invisible, non-intrusive. This was the opposite.
My veal chop was overportioned and flavorless. The souffle tasted burnt inside and a steak was 'just okay.'
For the sophisticated diner, this restaurant is also, only 'just okay.'
Beautiful view
We celebrated a birthday dinner overlooking the city. The prices are NYC prices - but the food and the service make it worth it! Everything was perfect.

Ambiance was excellent, but food was very overpriced and skimpy portions. They even charged $5. for bread which was quite chintzy. I ordered scallops and I believe I got three scallops and a very small accompiment. When we got our bill, it was all on one large bill for our table of six people. Very annoying we didn't get individual bills.
They have the beautiful view and location, but could improve on the amount of food on he plate. Won't go there again. Once was enough.
Overrated
Monarch is highly overrated. We took our 2 adult children here the night before moving them back to college. We were expecting an exclusive, elevated experience as described on the website. We expected the price point (about $200pp) but nothing about the food was exceptional. Everything was very salty to the point it detracted from the flavor of the dish, even the salad was salty and over dressed. The best part of the evening was the view and the enjoyable conversation with our family. Service was also lacking in attentiin to detail and the servers were poorly trained. We will not dine here again.
