Elegant atmosphere, delightful service, and outstanding food. The menu has choices for the vegetarian as well as the omnivore.
Be the first to ReplyAs a French, this is French food.
It's Petite Merde. It made me even sick in the stomach. Please skip, you can get better French food in the same street a block down.
Be the first to ReplyBetter than ever.
Had dinner with family and great friends on Saturday evening last and hardcto believe but it was even better than last time. Great cuisine, great and friendly service.

I honestly cannot believe that his restaurant was given a Michelin star. Service was TERRIBLE which they probably don't care since they already tack 20% to the tab regardless...WTF. The food was MEDIOCRE at best. Ambiance sucks. Interior ugly. Absolutely no warmth in this establishment. Good luck my friends.
Be the first to ReplyIt's not even horrible- just dreadful.
Overall it feels as if the Communist Party of China had the fine dining as their money laundry operation in the City: the service was always terrible- since the beginning of this restaurant, but at least the food was great.Today, the food was also terrible: the steak tartar was warm(?) on delivery, and I had to finish it- holding my appetizer plate over the entry, shoved down my throat 20 minutes after we seat down. There was no reason for the rushing frenzy- the restaurant was empty after pre- show rush. But the servers appeared to be terrified of the owner , and disinterested in their job at the same time. We broke down all my partners lobster shells - $58! , because it looked so sad- we weren't convinced that it was not the first time that lobster went around and we didn't want the next person to be fooled by the sauce over recycled food. Terrible , impersonal , highly rushed service to turn over the table- even there is no one to be come in, combined with underwhelming food . Oh- and - touchingly , they include 20% tip in the bill. Dreadful, indeed.

My Braised Short Rib Steak Au Poivre Green Peppercorn Sauce was luke warm. Waitress/manager lacked people skills, organization and attention to detail. Bathrooms clean and lady busses was fabulous. Disappointed they place a 20%tip regardless of service etiquette.

Omg. We were craving an elegant French experience and this place delivered. We were there for dinner on NYE and the staff/kitchen were ready! The restaurant is very modern and elegant. A well dressed crowd is always good to see in a place like this. The food came out briskly and it was delicious. Service was great too, although the young waiter wasn't educated enough to suggest wine pairings. We figured it out. The oysters and the red wine escargot went so well with the freshly baked bread. Honestly I could have eaten the bread with butter and red wine all night long. She had the butter lettuce and then we split the steak frites ribeye plate. Honestly it was the best steak frites I have ever had. The meat was ordered medium-rare and arrived cooked to perfection. We could not stop eating the frites and the delicious sauce that came with. Had to pass on dessert since we had places to be, but we probably should have stayed longer and indulged. Well done!

This has become our go-to restaurant post Symphony or Ballet and it always heightens our evenings out. The food, service, and environment are all great. Food highlights for me are the French Onion Soup, the Flounder, and the Short Ribs. But really I don't think I've tried anything that I wouldn't recommend (and have tried a good part of the menu). I'm very glad this place exists and look forward to returning in the future.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best French restaurants in San Francisco (IMO).
We have been here several times and every meal we have had has been amazing. Save room for dessert. The service rivals the quality of the food. The restaurant is light and airy and the kitchen is open for viewing. I enjoy watching the chefs work. If you're looking for a special occasion restaurant, this is a must.

The restaurant was really nice, beautiful inside and close to civic center. I went with 2 friends and we all enjoyed it. I enjoy a Belgium and my friends had a cocktail and a glass of wine. We shared the Brie and it was really good. We also shared the stuffed fish and the duck confit with artichokes. We shared the chocolate soufflé and it was divine. The cake was the best. The fox plates and dishes were super cute. 4 stars, solid option.

Hands down the best meal we had on our SF trip! If you eat nothing else, you MUST try the French onion soup!! Literally, I will be dreaming of this soup for the next week.Short Rib and Flounder were very good, too. The only point of contention is the service. Our waiter didn't greet us properly, make suggestions from the menu, and it felt like he was rushing us. Other than that, this place is an absolute must when you're in San Francisco!
Be the first to ReplyI loved everything about this lovely new-French restaurant.
Every course was delicious. I had the Flounder. It was prepared poached and wrapped around d a delicious broccoli and potato cake and covered in a delicious burre-blanc. The pear tart for dessert was also one of the best I've ever had. Service was good and they were kind enough to find us bar seating when we accidentally made our reservation for the wrong night. While the ambience was somewhat ordinary the place felt upscale and fitting for its Hays Valley location. I can't wait for another visit to the city so I have sn excuse to go back!

I came with high hopes based on what I'd heard but left a little disappointed. The duck confit was fine but not especially good in terms of flavor, tenderness, or juiciness. The quail pie was different and pretty good, but good enough to overlook the small size. For dessert, gateau Marjolaine had a very nice flavor and restrained sweetness, though it could have been a little moister. Service was decent but not especially remarkable given the price. Honestly, my favorite part of the meal was the potato puree which was silky smooth. Unfortunately, there wasn't a whole lot of it.Overall, a good but unremarkable upscale meal that left me both a little hungry and a little disappointed. Maybe we ordered the wrong things (though I'd expect everything to be good in this price range) or came on an off night, but I don't need to go back.Note on atmosphere/dress: the restaurant is upscale but not formal

Mmmm this place is so good, came here for Valentine's Day and it did not disappoint! We chose this place since it was on Michelin Guide and it was recommended by lot of our friends. We started off with the steak tartare, which I thought was very light and refreshing. For our entrees, we got the steak frites with sauce choron and braised short rib steak au poivre. They were both very delicious but the flavor and the cook on the steak frites was the standout for me. I definitely would recommend the steak frites to my friends and family. Honestly the portion for the steak frites could be split between two people if you wanted to share. For dessert, we ordered the dark chocolate souffle.. and it came with banana ice cream. The dessert was very good, probably one of the best chocolate souffles that I've had. If you would like to order the dark chocolate souffle, just know that it takes 15 minutes to prepare. The staff was friendly and checked in on us often. If you are ever in the Hayes Valley area or looking for French food, I would recommend this place. It's so cute for a date night as well.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is way overpriced.
The food is good, but dinner for 3 was $350 bucks including tax and a mandated 20 percent tip which is not mentioned when they give you the bill - the mandated tip is frustrating - especially at 20 percent!!!

My partner took me here for lunch for my birthday, First time trying this place and I usually don't eat French food often, but it was delicious! My favorite was the caviar, super creamy not too salty. I got the half dozen oysters, 2 of each kinds they had-tasted super fresh. The steak tartare was ok, not my favorite. Bone marrow was pretty good. Escargot-yummy. Also ordered the duck confit with toast on egg but was too full so we packed it to-go. Overall I would come back here again to try other things on the menu
Be the first to ReplyI had a good time with friends.
Decent atmosphere and nice quality food. One note, I drank "wake up call" cocktail. it was not that bad but caffeine was stronger that I thought. i'd try different drink next time.
Be the first to ReplyFor good French cuisine in the city, I would recommend this
For good French cuisine in the city, I would recommend this restaurant. We made reservations for a special dinner for two. Service was prompt and attentive. We ordered the bone marrow and onion soup as starters and they didn't disappoint. One of the better onion soup I've tried. Servings were on the small side and the bone marrow which was served with caramelized chopped onions were delish, but a bit on the skimpy side. I tell you though, they made sure to include thick slices of dense bread, I think to help you feel satisfied along with their small servings. As the main dish we had the sea bass for two and that was very good. This time, the dish was big enough to serve 3, especially if you ask for extra bread. Lol. The fish was good, cooked just right and tasty with its sauce of olive oil and capers. I recommend. Dessert was the pear tartine with ice cream. I'd say it was a bit on the too sweet and sticky side, but was a good way to cap a big fish meal. Overall, a really good French food-based restaurant, but quite pricey and menu can run up your bill quite easily.

Came here for dinner on a Wednesday and made reservations, but was able to get seated well before the time we reserved for which was nice. It is a pretty intimate restaurant which I appreciate - perfect for date night. We ordered the bone marrow, potato croquettes and steak tartare for appetizers. My favorites were the bone marrow and croquettes! I found it flavorful and easy enough to split among 2 people. The steak tartare wasn't the greatest in comparison to the ones we've tried at other restaurants. However, the main dishes were delicious in my opinion. We ordered the ribeye and flounder stuffed with spinach. Sooo good! Also ask for aioli on the side (dip for fries). Again - delicious! The staff are also friendly and attentive which we appreciated greatly. At the end of dinner they gave us a shot each of what I believe was liqueur? But thought it was a nice touch to end our dinner. We will have to come back to try the rest of the menu.
Be the first to ReplyThe value just isn't here.
We stopped in for dinner after the ballet. A very plain, small butter lettuce salad with no taste...for $22? Entrees were more typically priced, but were not really standouts.Essentially, a somewhat average meal for two...for over $300. We will probably not be frequenting again.

Great Food and Great Service! We loved Ireri, she was our incredible server and did an awesome job with recommendations and coursing our meal out perfectly! The food was impeccable, we loved the Brie, Cocottes, French Onion Soup, Salad and Chicken!
Be the first to ReplyOkay let me start off by admiring this modern restaurant
Okay let me start off by admiring this modern restaurant located in the heart of SF. I'll just get straight to it.. order the bone marrow or don't come here the size cannot compare to anywhere and the taste is Impeccable. You will not find this anywhere else !!! Also, we were so sad they were sold out of the mussels at the time of our reservation, probably cause they're also a hit, so if you're looking for this dish, maybe reserve a spot earlier !! We really enjoyed the vibe and the waitress who helped us was so sweet. You also get shots on the house of their home made whiskey

I don't know if it's just because of Covid or what, but this restaurant is no longer worth going to. The menu is very short on options, and the food itself is good, but not anything particularly special; in fact, some of the dishes seem very poorly thought out.If this were a mid-priced restaurant it would be a good one, but it's not; it's very expensive. For the money they

A lovely spot for a date! I really enjoyed the open kitchen layout and the servers were so friendly and attentive. The food was spot on - flavorful and so well cooked. The steak tartare and escargot were the highlights of the meal for me. Also loved their drinks! Great wines and cocktails to pair with the food. Can't wait to go back

An amazing restaurant with delicious food, service and ambiance. This is the best restaurant in hayes valley!!! They also have the best service compared to other restaurants in the neighbourhood. I've been here a couple of times through out the past years and they have recently changed there menu! Super exciting to try it for date night last week.We ordered:* escargot- delicious butter garlic sauce, escargot was not over cooked either (ask for extra bread cos the sauce is to die for)* beef tartare- light and delicious(take photos before eating it because it looks beautiful)* bone marrow - the portion is very generous here, also delicious pairing with some sort of fruit purée, lovely pairing* duck (I had to fight off my bf from eating mine.)The food was too good I ate them all before taking a photo. The lobster was great (for the small bite I tried as it was my bf's main dish and I was also busy devouring my sumptuous duck )The dessert was delicious too. I wish we weren't as full after the starters, otherwise we would have ordered more dishes to try. This is most definitely my go to restaurant in hayes.Very friendly hostess and servers even when they are slammed during rush hour.Very professional staff and overall always an amazing experience!
