The best dessert I have ever had.
We also tried the chicken which is a customer favorite. This restaurant is Michelin recommended if you have the guide. It's been a while since i visited but I loved the restaurant especially sitting at the bar you see the detail and effort the staff makes for the experience.

Appetizer tartare was amazing. Elegant presentation. Delicious. My main course was vegetarian roasted cabbage and tasty but in no way Vietnamese or even Asian in derivation. Quite spicy. Ordered mousse for dessert and I swear that some of those crunchy bits were sugar smacks (yes, the cereal). Service was attentive (unlike some other reviewers report). Atmosphere was quite pleasant-not overly loud which I appreciated. Enjoyable meal!

On one hand , the rice porridge was the worst porridge imaginable. Forest floor type beat tasting porridge. One the other , the best juiciest meat ever!! The banh hoi dish with all the different meats got ATE. That's the best pork I've ever eaten on god.

Food: Delicious modern Vietnamese fare Service: Friendly with a smile Atmosphere: nice hotel restaurant steps always from the water Price: $$$ Fancy and Modern are two adjectives not typically associated with Vietnamese food but chef Kevin Tien pulls them both off at Moon Rabbit. I'm very sad to hear the news of their closing and really hope they can reopen soon. The beautiful restaurant is perfectly located right by the water. We haven't even started talking about the food yet! The delicious Nashville fusion catfish and the lemongrass pork were standout dishes.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent, creative food.
Great for sharing dishes. Excellent service. Waitress took really good care of us.
Be the first to ReplyCLOSED! See article in the Washington Post.
They will be missed. Hopefully Chef will reopen a even better restaurant.

Food is good and nice place for lunch or dinner.

Best on the Wharf! We've been coming to Moon Rabbit for close to a year now, and it gets better and better. The head and pastry chefs continually change up the menu while keeping the dishes that are the most beloved/requested. The menu has such a unique blend of Vietnamese, Cajun/Creole and French that is full of flavor with innovative options that range from very flavorful to spicy. As foodies, we love the creative talent these chefs always deliver. The kitchen is attentive to food allergies which is important to us. We've seen the same 'celebrities' at different times which is always amusing and the space inside the Intercontinental Hotel is stunning. The view of the boats and watching people walk the wharf is also fun. There are outside tables as well which are right on the wharf. The servers and bartenders are always friendly and attentive and the drinks are creative. The desserts are amazing if you still have room, so we often share as they are too good to pass up totally. It's often hard to get in for dinner, so make reservations in advance if possible.

Seriously such a treat! Loved the crawfish noodles, papaya salad, lemongrass chicken, lamb, and the shrimp and grits. The flavor was wonderful and complex for all the dishes. The flan was a perfect way to end meal, the custard smoothness and richness was spot on. Can't wait to be back!

I came here for my birthday dinner last year and was blown away by flavor. Really superb craftsmanship and flavor profiles. Service was impeccable. I recommend eating a light salad with protein before going, in all honesty. It's an exquisite menu, but the portion sizes for the price point is unfortunate. You don't leave full. Adjust expectations and arrive at 50-60% full, and it would be a more enjoyable experience. Don't go hungry! It's just not that kind of place. Cocktails were 10/10.
Be the first to ReplyPretty good, pretty expensive.
7/10 experience.Came for dinner for 2.Each dish was great on its own and packed a unique taste. Standouts include:- Crawfish pasta- Middendorf Laing- Wagyu Tri Tip- Casava Coconut Cornbread - Coconut Mousse w/ Mango Sorbet (mainly for the presentation)Bite for bite, the Wagyu, although very expensive, was probably the most tasty. Love me some sauce and the crawfish pasta was a close second - wish it came with bread to mop it up.Great food, and good views of the Wharf, however it felt more like a $75 pp dinner instead of the $125+ pp we paid. Parking is either hard to find or also expensive if you choose the garage.
Be the first to ReplyLunch with girl friends at Moon Rabbit.
Started with the Ca Chien Ca Ri (Vietnamese x Nashville Hot Maryland Catfish) and Chilli Wontons. The catfish had great flavor and the toast accompanied it well. The wontons had good meat filling but not any better than what you get at a decent Chinese restaurant. For my main, I ordered Xom Thit Nuong (Lemongrass marinated pork). The pork was tender and tasted good with the rice and egg, but I've had better pork at other Vietnamese restaurants. I wish the pork had more flavor (spices). Overall, 3 out of 5 for food, service and atmosphere. Definitely pricey for lunch and overall food and atmosphere, including plating, were a bit lacking.

I want to begin off by saying that I DID really enjoy my time here. Aesthetics-- on point, staff super nice-- the feel of the restaurant gives classy-- but its Viet food!! Yay!! The issue I mainly had was that the apps were SO much more special than the entrees (such as the catfish on toast). My food was tasty but not over the top so that I would recommend it to people. For a $35-45 brunch, I expected better dishes. My two friends ordered the pho and needless to say, it was very underwhelming. Che and Pork dish were more tasty, but I can find it better elsewhere :/ I am pretty disappointed at this meal considering their restaurant week menu I had seen on socials had looked promising. Hopefully if I ever return to eat, I can leave satisfied.

My boyfriend and I visited DC, and we wanted to support Asian businesses. We visited Moon Rabbit for din din one night, and it didn't disappoint.Kevin Tieu does a splendid job elevating Vietnamese dishes while maintaining most of the complex flavors. The portions were well thought out because we were able to try a few dishes without feeling overly stuffed at the end of our meal. My only few critiques are as follows:(1) Our server could be better informed about the restaurant's menu. I'm Vietnamese so I was able to tell when he didn't seem knowledgeable about certain dishes. As a server, you should know the menu by heart and answer all customers' questions confidently. (2) For the red snapper canh chua, the broth should be poured directly on top of the fish at a lower height. As seen in my video, the server poured the broth at a higher altitude so part of the broth spilled to the top. It just doesn't look aesthetically pleasing for photos when the level of the broth is not even.(3) The menu creator should be more attentive to detail and not misspell the Viet terms such as "canh chua."These critiques are just minor and did not adversely affect our experience dining at Moon Rabbit. Hence I still rated Moon Rabbit 5 stars. We will definitely return and try other dishes!
Be the first to ReplyUgh, it pains me to do this, but I have to drop Moon Rabbit
Ugh, it pains me to do this, but I have to drop Moon Rabbit down to 2 stars from 5 based on my brunch experience today. A huge drop, but I'll explain. I dined here with two girlfriends and had hyped the place up telling them how great the brunch was. The menu online reflects a brunch menu that I had previously experienced and adored. However, when we were seated, we were given a LUNCH menu, lunch with an "L." I asked the waiter about brunch and he said they no longer served brunch (even though the website still shows a brunch menu!). What I loved about Moon Rabbit's brunch was its eclectic fusing of Vietnamese food and American brunch fare. A standout on their now-defunct brunch menu was the chicken and waffles, a waffle with basil butter and a Thai chili sauce and topped with fried pot basil leave. Amazing. There was also a banh mi breakfast sandwich that was out of this world. Sadly, the lunch offerings now are just poorly done Vietnamese food, IMO. We ordered things to share and NONE of them had a wow factor:- chili wontons: salty, salty, salty with a very dry meat filling - chili dusted catfish: two of the smallest catfish pieces (not even whole filets) on one piece of bread for $16. Really?- fried rice: boring. Needed more pepper and soy. Also served lukewarm. - banh xeo: this was actually good though overpriced at $23. Since the lunch menu is leaning more Vietnamese-for/the-American-palate than upscale Vietnamese fusion, you'd be better off going to an authentic Vietnamese restaurant in Falls Church for lunch. To management: PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD BRUNCH MENU!! It made Moon Rabbit so special.

If you're in the mood for some truly delicious food, Moon Rabbit is definitely worth checking out.One of the standout dishes for me was the duck, which was expertly cooked and well seasoned with the orange sauce. The outer crust of the duck was perfectly crispy and added a great texture to the dish.Another dish that I absolutely loved were the puffs. They were the perfect bite-sized treat and had a great flavor that left me wanting more. But the real highlight of the night were the oysters. The sauce that goes on top of the oysters was delightful - sweet with a little tangy taste to it. The oysters were incredibly fresh and paired perfectly with the sauce.Overall, I highly recommend giving Moon Rabbit a try. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is great.
Be the first to ReplyService was good.
Cocktails were enjoyable. Food is good, if not particularly authentically Vietnamese.

Situated along the boardwalk of the wharf, it's a very nice restaurant with very unique dishes you don't typically see. Word of warning... if going for dinner, make a RESERVATION as the tables are occupied each evening and the wait can easily be 60-90 minutes. Very nice gastro experience in a memorable setting. Wait staff are very good and offer great suggestions for 1st timers.

I went to Moon Rabbit for lunch a few days ago & honestly, I was not impressed with my dishes. I ordered the Gumbo Ramen per request from my friend who seems to love it & and keeps raving on about it. He also claims the owner has Louisiana upbringings. I personally think the idea of a Gumbo Ramen is an excellent one because I love seeing unique yet tasty fusions between two cultures with world-renowned cuisine (and I LOOOOOVE gumbo). BUT, the execution of the flavor profile was not it for me for the ramen. I tasted no Holy Trinity, which was upsetting. It didn't have the familiar Gumbo taste at all. Also, I wasn't a fan of having to pick the fat off the chicken in every bite. I could not figure out the taste of the dish.My friend also ordered the Chili Wontons (pork & shrimp based) as a sharable dish between us. The aromatics were out of this world & the wontons were tummy, but it fell short because it was entirely too salty. I certainly needed to douse water down. The service was pretty solid and welcoming. The ambiance was pretty decent, with a beautiful art piece on the wall by the bar. Excellent view of the dock of the Wharf. Will I come here again? I might for dinner or even explore their breakfast. As far as lunch goes, I certainly won't be ordering the Gumbo Ramen nor Chili Wontons again. As we all know, parking at the Wharf is one of the worst in the DC area, so I highly recommend getting to Moon Rabbit by public transportation, Uber/Lyft or
Be the first to ReplyWe've been aware of Moon Rabbit for a while but became more
We've been aware of Moon Rabbit for a while but became more interested due to its listing on the Washingtonian's Top 100 for 2023. For the positive, the food and cocktails were overall tasty. Our agreed favorite was the GỎI ĐU ĐỦ - a combination of papaya, lychee, stone fruit and peanuts. It was a great starter with the right mix of texture and range of flavors. It took a few bites, but we decided that we enjoyed the "TIET CANH VIT" - raw bluefin tuna with beets. It could have been the color of the beets on the tuna that put things a little out of alignment at first. Also, it took a few bites to find some spice in the dish to punch things up. The "BÒ LÚC LẮC - wagyu beef was tasty but it came out a little cold (see more on that below). The red snapper with the sweet and sour broth was also enjoyable.I had one cocktail and a glass of wine. The cocktail was enjoyable and healthy but even with today's inflation, the price felt a little heavy, but Wharf rent must be paid ; - ) The service is what peeled back a star. We waited far too long for our main courses and even resulted in a manager checking on it for us. The restaurant was far from capacity and was an early Sunday dinner, so I'm unclear of the problem. The wagyu beef is a small serving, but at $38, you expect a lot. I don't believe it is too demanding to expect a dish to be served at the right temperature. We did not send it back, given how long it took to arrive the first time. Water glasses did stay filled but server knowledge and polish were noticeably lacking, especially at this price point and to be on the Top 100 List.Atypical for us, we ate light : - ). So if you are big eaters, you may need more, but we had four dishes, one cocktail, one glass of wine, and a soft drink. Total price with tax and an approximate 18% tip was $200. Would we roll the dice and try again? Maybe/ maybe not. The overall quality of the food was good enough, but I would not work too hard to get a reservation for the second visit either. We are clearly in the minority on this one (even with the typical Yelp inflation), maybe we did not have the best server, but service is just as important as the food in an experience and we do insist on consistency. I suggest you try and make up your own minds.

I finally made it to Moon Rabbit !I have wanted to eat there for over a year. I visited with my monthly Brunch Wives.. a group of brilliant, beautiful Millennial ladies. We are almost a year strong on meeting up safely with about a month's hiatus when Omarion ran rampant. Moon Rabbit is a contemporary twist on Vietnamese cuisine. It occupies a gorgeous space at the Intercontinental hotel at the Wharf. What we ordered: Daily Donut - Cinnamon Crunch confection...Bun Cha Ca La Vong Breakfast bowl French Toast Pho Seasoned Fried Chicken Steak and EggsEnjoyed by not shown (the drinks): Blood Orange Rum Punch Halong Baysil Pineapple Orange MimosaEverything was delicious. I ordered the steak and eggs with a side of curry coconut rice. My steak was tender, and the curry coconut rice was excellent. I'm looking forward to going back for dinner!
Be the first to ReplyGreat customer service and friendly staff.
This is tagged as Vietnamese which made me want to go...but it isn't so. More like a fusion....and the servings are all pretty small compared to what you get in other restaurants. BUT everything was flavorful and very enjoyable. Would recommend this for sure.

We went here for Brunch on a Sunday and had Chicken and Waffles Vietnamese flavors and Com Tam. Both was excellent and Unique.
Be the first to ReplyHOLY YUM.
Stopped by here last week with a friend. I typically don't eat at fusian style restaurants since I grew up eating a lot of authentic Vietnamese food, but after hearinga about the chef and hearing about this place, I thought I had to try it.We ordered the InterContinental and (Bad) Blood Orange Thai Chili drinks to start. Both were absolutely phenomenal. I feel like mocktails can sometimes be an afterthought at restaurants, but the Zero Proof Cocktail menu did not make me feel that way at all.For food, we started with pandan mantou bun, the Ca Tim Xao (eggplant), the tom rang muoi (shrimp), and the crawfish and noodles. I was excited about the buns because I love pandan and I love mantou, but seeing this combination was amazing. The bread was probably some of the best "dinner roll" type of bread that I've ever had. It was even better when eaten with the butter and the condensed milk that they served it with. The ca tim xao was amazing--the sate sauce, the sunflower seeds, and the cilantro were all such a great touch. My only complaint is that the eggplant itself could've used a little more salt. As for entrees, the shrimp entree comes with the SKIN ON. This is common in authentic Asian cuisine, but I know many are not used to it. Nevertheless, the shrimp itself is seasoned and cooked perfectly. I even just ate some of the skin since some pieces were soft enough. The crawfish pasta was my favorite entree of the night.Lastly, we had the che ba ba for dessert. It came with many different textures and components. It was a fun and creative dish, but I wasn't the most blown away by the flavor. The best part was the jackfruit sorbet, but overall, I was underwhelmed.Overall, I love seeing some of my favorite childhood cuisines done in a higher end, fusian way. I do look forward to returning and trying all the other menu items that Kevin Tien decides to dish out!
