Well Executed Japanese Food
Went to the Williamsburg location. Excellent handrolls. Some really special flavour combinations. A bit noisy and drink selection a bit limited. But overall excellent food at good value for what it is.

Very unique place - mostly sushi but all shaped like tacos. I recommend ordering a set that comes with 5 pieces that are brought out as they’re ready. I also enjoyed the churros for dessert. Definitely a young vibe, most seating is at a counter top next to other parties. Really cute place, and the entire menu is gluten free too!
Be the first to ReplyJust so so
I went to Nami Nori for lunch with my family. We made reservation at 12:00, its opening time. But the service is not good. There was no friendly welcome, and the waiter was inattentive at our table. The food is just so so. I feel uncomfortable to unwrap the plastic paper covering black seaweed. I will not return to Nami Nori.
Be the first to ReplyReally Bad Welcoming
One of the city's popular temaki bars, Nami Nori offers open-style sushi hand rolls. The extensive sake menu was also one of the reasons we chose this place. Classic Set ($28) with 5 different options and we also ordered x.o. Scallop ($9) and Toro Scallion ($12) from Signature Menu. I am not a sushi master, but I’ve enough knowledge to evaluate it according to my own experience. None of the products were at a level that would convince me to come back here. Plum Sake ($12-umeshu) and Tensei ($15) that we tried as accompaniments were very pleasing Sakes, we recommend you to try them if you come across them. The other bad point was that the receptionist tried to kick us out when we asked if there was a table. She stated that the place was closed and they couldn't help. While we were waiting in front of the door, we saw by chance that another customer was accepted and we learned that the kitchen was open with the info of another employee. Maybe not about food but It was the worst place I've seen in NY regarding customer relations. . . . #kaimbros
Be the first to ReplyMisleading Claims and Disregard for Celiac Customers at Nami Nori Williamsburg
I had an incredibly disappointing and concerning experience at Nami Nori Williamsburg, a restaurant that claims to be dedicated to serving gluten and celiac-friendly food. I don’t usually write reviews, but the blatant disregard for my health and safety have left me no choice. Upon arriving, I made sure to inform the waitress about my Celiac disease. I was assured that Nami Nori’s entire food menu was in fact all gluten free and the only gluten they served was in the form of beer, but gluten-free beer options were also available. So I proceeded to order a gluten-free beer and when it arrived I made sure to check the label, just to be sure. I didn’t see any signs being gluten-free… After a few minutes, the manager later approached me and admitted that the beer was, in fact, not gluten-free and would bring the actual gluten-free beer in just a moment. If I hadn’t checked the label, I surely wouldn’t starting drinking it! Later the server approached me and carelessly claimed this was an "honest mistake.” Despite her initial apology, the waitress proceeded to avoid me for the rest of the evening. She wouldn’t talk to me but had no issue acknowledging the rest of my party. It is deeply disheartening to witness such unprofessional behaviour, especially when dealing with a health issue as critical as Celiac disease. As someone with Celiac disease, I rely on restaurants that genuinely prioritize the safety and well-being of their customers. Nami Nori's false claims and the subsequent mishandling of my dietary needs not only put my health at risk but also undermine the credibility of their supposed dedication to gluten-free dining. I urge those with Celiac disease or gluten sensitivities to exercise extreme caution when considering dining at Nami Nori Williamsburg. Their disregard for the health and safety of their customers is a grave concern that should not be taken lightly. In summary, my experience at Nami Nori Williamsburg was deeply disappointing and troubling, marked by misleading claims, a lack of understanding, and a dismissive attitude towards customers with dietary restrictions.

We booked a last minute lunch reservation after having a craving for sushi during our trip. It was our first time having sushi in this style. I had the tuna poke, spicy tuna, yellowtail, spicy lobster, and spicy crab dynamite along with the matcharita drink. This was in our top 3 meals during the trip. Everything tasted fresh. Try this place at least once and find out for yourself.
Be the first to ReplyUnconvincing sushi variety in loud restaurant
40.73020 -74.00309 This Michelin Bibi Gourmand restaurant combines a Japanese restaurant with a Japanese Pachinko arcade with dance music blaring from speakers. The acoustics are terrible in this modern and minimalist interior. People scream at each other for lack of soundproofing. Not the familiar quiet environment in Japanese restaurants. So not a place for a romantic dinner. Maybe outside on the sidewalk is better. In June 2023, we ordered the signature set ($32) from the temaki counter in a packed Friday night restaurant. I do not remember seeing temaki or hand rolls in Japan. Nami Nori is a fusion kitchen with many Asian influences, not just Japanese. It is similar to sushi, only sushi is rolled. We ordered the tuna poke with crispy shallots, x.o. scallop with tobiko & lemon, coconut shrimp with green curry, lime & cilantro, serrano salmon with ginger, myoga & tosazu and cucumber black sesame, shiso & plum. The hitachino yuzu lager 12 was not available and neither was an alternative. The five temaki ordered tasted good. Good use of wasabi. But was it special? We didn’t think so. Next time, go back to the familiar sushi train without bad soundproofing and dance music and let guests focus on what is important: the food combined with service and environment. Not recommended.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Fish!
We loved the sushi “taco” concept and the crispy rice. Lots of fresh fish to choose from! A great vibe! Loved all of the counter seating!
Be the first to ReplyTasty tataki, fresh fish
Menu isn’t big, but there are options for everyone. I advise you to choose one of tataki sets to try different types of tataki. There is big vine and sake card, also you can find signature cocktails. Some tables are located around Chef’s station - so you can see how the process is going. Fast service, appetizers are ready in couple of minutes. Staff is polite. Free wi-fi for guests. I advise you to book table in advance - this restaurant isn’t big, but very popular.

Good handroll, the sushi rice is still warm while the nori is crispy. Overall, good food and ambience. I would give 5 stars if the server did not preset the tipping amount.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Sushi, Epic Dining Experience
I went to Nami Nori last fall with two friends/colleagues for an early dinner. It was one of the best dining experiences I've had in NYC, or anywhere. We chose Nami Nori because my friend has a hard time finding gluten free Asian food. We shared some yummy appetizers, and I ordered the vegan temaki set. We sat at the bar and got to watch the chef prepare the sushi. I was in awe of his knife skills. This restaurant is a real treat. Highly recommend.

This is a great place! Strange how there's so few reviews on hit here on Tripadvisor. This was one of the highlights on our trip to NY and the first time we tried Japanese food (except for regular sushi). We had a great experience, our server was very friendly and gave us lots of help and tips. The food is great for sharing, so you can try out more from the menu. Food was delicious and everything is gluten free! They also have a dessert menu which is not listed on their website. This is the first place I've had churros, as they make them from a rice base! Make sure to book a table beforehand.

Great gluten free restaurant. I have celiac’s disease and was pleased to have calamari and not have to worry about cross contamination. Food was wonderful and service was as well.
Be the first to ReplySpecialty in Japanese Fusion Hand Rolls
Good experience & yummy 5 pieces hand rolls. I like Uni, Lobster Tempura with Truffle. Fresh & tasty! Friendly staffs. Booking is required and most of the seats are at counter bar. Private room is for group of 4-5 people.

Not your traditional sushi place but will definitely go back. Very good appetizers followed by your choice of 5 hand roll makis. I highly recommend the shrimp with curry sauce the scallops as well as the eel.

Nami Nori serves up some delicious rolls, prepared in a unique manner. The ingredients are quality, and the products are creative. The price point may be a little steep as compared to other offerings, but Nami Nori is still a great treat.
Be the first to ReplySuch a good meal!
Such a good meal! Our server was so lovely and the restaurant is charming and very minimalist but still warm and inviting. The food which are open taco like hand rolls were just delicious! And the chocolate dessert was divine! I could have kept eating! Wonderful!

The quality of the ingredients really shines through! The service was very attentive. Our group thoroughly enjoyed our meal here.
Be the first to ReplyWow! Crazy good!
From ambience, to dinner, to dessert = a perfect night! And not to forget, courteous staff and great service.
The Tempura Lobster Temaki was delightful. Spicy Crab Temaki was amazing.
Our new favorite place.
Popular new spot
This is definitely the new popular kid in town but I was lucky enough to get a reservation on Resy. That said, it looks like they take a lot of walk-ins. The line starts getting long as early as 5:15. They open at 5:30.
So I made the mistake of thinking this was an omakase place. It's not. This place is about the temaki or better known as hand rolls. Nami Nori doesn't roll it into a cone or roll, instead they take the taco approach.
The service is fast despite being busy and the food comes out even faster. We opted not to get the chef's choice since I despise California rolls. For appetizers, the crispy rice spicy tuna was delicious and came out in 2 minutes flat. The calamari was different than what you're typically used to but good.
When it comes to the temaki, our favorites were the xo scallops, Santa Barbara uni (they didn't have Hokkaido), toro and scallion (we added caviar to this piece), and finally the spicy crab dynamite.
The maitake was fragrant but not amazing. The lobster tempura was fried in the same matter as the calamari and was overpowered by the mayonnaise. And the special piece of shira ebi (one of my favorites fishes of all time) was too heavily limed.
Overall I can see the appeal of this place. It can be affordable but also quickly add up. We ordered the primo pieces so it was not a cheap meal.
That's said, I would be back.
