Came in for a solo dinner while I was in town for work.
Made a reservation in advance because I heard they can fill up pretty quickly, but got there an early and they were still able to seat me. Feel like it's the perfect place to eat alone because most of the seating is along the sushi bar. To start off I ordered the matcharita and spicy tuna crispy rice chips and dip. The drink was delicious and refreshing, loved the matcha and green apple combination. The crispy rice chips paired with the spicy tuna truly might be the perfect bite. I ordered the signature set after that which comes with 5 temaki. My favorite was the x.o scallop because on top of being the most beautiful bite of sushi, the fish tasted so incredible fresh. The tuna, salmon, and coconut shrimp were also delicious, but the cucumber black sesame was not my thing at all. All in all, service was quick and efficient and the food was great. Very high quality ingredients and imaginative pairings. Will be back on my next trip!

One of my very favorite restaurants in Manhattan that consistently provides a fabulous experience. Incredible food and a nice, relaxing atmosphere. Well managed and I greatly appreciate the small, personal touches (champagne on special occasions, etc).

Reservations for a table outside on top of a sewer grate were not what we expected... would have much preferred to be inside! The appetizers were a great start- the tempura and chips/yogurt dip. The tamaki was hard to eat but we figured it out. I thought it was fun and experiential but my husband was annoyed. We were sitting next to a couple that had an incredibly frustrating time and I kept expecting him to ask me to grab his food and help him The flavors were hit or miss for us- some of them were amazing. The ratio of the rice to the fish sometimes seemed off- too much fish and no soy or wasabi bothered my husband. I wouldn't return but am glad we tried it.
Be the first to ReplyI went here for my birthday and I really loved it.
There's kinda limited seating but it was so amazing and the hand rolls made my mouth water as I was waiting for them to be made. The service is great asking you what you want to order and if you wanted to order more after your last hand roll and on top of the water for the whole time. The ambience is really cute and aesthetic and even the plates and ceramics were all nice.

This has been on my list for quite some time so I was so happy to finally try it out. Upon arrival, the vibe is what caught my attention at first. I adored the minimalist neutral wood decor of this place-- it felt very classy and refined. This place was also packed, which is obviously a good sign! Onto the food! For a starter, we ordered the Spicy Tuna Dip. Now this was delicious. The tuna was so fresh and melt in your mouth. This paired so well with the crunchy and airy crispy rice chips. For our entrees, I got the Signature Set, which I think is a must try from the temaki counter. Others in my party got the Classic and make your own, which are good options too, but they have already been here so they were wanting to mix it up. The Signature Set included five curated temakis placed in order of consumption as recommended by the chef. You have to remove the seaweed from plastic wrapping, which was a fun group activity accompanied with struggles and triumph. But I loved this concept because it just ensures the freshness of the food so the seaweed does not get soggy from the other contents of the temaki. The first was a tuna poke. It had similar contents to the spicy tuna dip, so I already knew this was going to be delicious and fresh. This was followed by the x.o. scallop, which was also such high quality in terms of freshness, and the splash of citrus really tied everything together. The coconut shrimp was the star of the show, which makes sense because it was in the middle! This was perfectly breaded and bursting with yummy flavors. The last of the umami portion was the salmon serrano, which was just another classic in terms of the perfect harmony of more mild flavors. Lastly, there was a dessert temaki, the cucumber black sesame, which featured an indulgent plum sauce atop a fresh crispy cucumber. This was a perfect refreshing, but not to sweet end to the meal. And the five temakis was the perfect portion size. Overall, I really do recommend checking this place out! You can tell the chefs really care about the customers getting a quality food and dining experience, so I will definitely be returning to try more of the menu items!

Ordered the signature Temaki set and it was finger-licking good. The signature temaki set consists of: tuna poke, scallop, coconut shrimp, salmon serrano, and cucumber black sesame. Everything was great from service to food. Notes to self: must make a reservation next time or else seated outside with no shades.

If I were to do it again, I would get five of the coconut shrimp rolls. That's the middle one in my picture. That was the best tasting piece of sushi of the entire meal. I also loved the far left. Five rolls for $32. I think that's a little expensive, but the quality of the food was really good. It was a unique experience to unwrap the seaweed from the plastic, and it was fun to figure out as a team. All the ingredients are fresh and I am full but not Bloated. We'd very kind service. I felt we were taken care of and seated quickly. We ate outside and it's very nice in those booths.

I've been wanting to try this place since last year, and I finally made it today. First of all, this place is always packed, for online reservation, I suggest at least a day prior. My friend was able to get an outdoor sitting on the same day, but because of the rain or for any unknown reason, a party did not show up for 15mins, so we got an indoor bar seats. I love the idea of hand roll, but this is more an open face sushi than the traditional hand roll (those who know would know). The menu is fairly simple, so I got the signature and uni. I wasn't trying to be picky by giving away my coconut shrimp to my friend, but I love uni, so I pick the $16 uni roll, worth it! All the seafood is fresh, no fishy smell and they all melted in my mouth, but I think the rice overpowered the sashimi. Half of the time, I can only taste the sauce in the rice but not the topping. Everyone is super friendly, despite how busy the business is. The waiter was sweet and helpful, the host is nice, she explained to us why she's cooking stones!! (I thought it's some kind of fancy meal, but it's to keep people waiting outside warm). Our chef told us that the rice were made in the back, and send to the front at once. In other words, all the rice is the same quality and quantity. That explains if the scallops have no strong flavor, it's hard to taste the scallops but the savory rice. As the uni, it has pungent flavors, therefore, the rice is not overpowering. Overall, a fun, cozy, social place to try!

Our friends and I spent "friendsgiving" here and we had an amazing time! It has always been on my list to visit in NYC and it did not disappoint! Reservation was fairly easy to secure as there are multiple locations to choose from. The ambiance, service and the quality of the food were all superb. I would definitely recommend this for a fun, no fuss dinner experience
Be the first to ReplyEach hand roll was super flavorful and well-balanced.
The wasabi in the middle (optional) adds the perfect kick. 5 rolls were surprisingly filling. The rolls are made one at a time, so definitely come here with some patience and be prepared to wait a while between bites. Presentation is adorable! I also enjoyed sitting at the bar and watching the chef as he was preparing the temaki. Loved the organic, woody decor. Felt very modern, stylish, and homey.

This was such a great spot! We weren't starving so we only got one app and then did 5 hand rolls each. I loved the experience of sitting at the bar and the good service. Keep in mind if you sit at a table, they bring all your rolls at once but if you're at the bar they hand you them one by one. Food:- shishito peppers were amazing. Such a simple dish but the sauce it came with was delicious!- outstanding rolls: tuna poke, spicy tuna, toro- I would personally skip the California and avocado toast next time I go
Be the first to ReplyVery buzzy restaurant.
We came here on a recommendation that we had to try this place. I'm glad we did but I don't love restaurants that are so cramped and hustle and bustle-y. They keep the inside of the restaurant super warm and cramped with people. We got the rice cracker with mushroom dip starter and it was good- very shiitake-flavored. I also got my favorite sake, dassai 23 that was very overpriced but so good. We tried a variety of their hand rolls that were good but the busyness of the restaurant was overwhelming. The servers and sushi chefs were sweet and personable but we probably won't be back.

Was a great meal! The signature set plus an appetizer was the right amount to order. I liked the variety in the signature set. The shrimp and scallop were my favorite, but I thought the black sesame was just ok. The sauce hit the right amount of black sesame paste without being too much like nut butter and cucumber cut the richness but it needed more. The $6 sparkling water though... that was a bit of an insult.

First thing off the bat the hostess gave some side eye and attitude when I mentioned that my group actually came before a couple she was helping. As hostess she should have been somewhat aware of which group to help next not just helping whoever pushed their way to the front.Food was good, nothing amazing. My favorites were the kanpachi pineapple and the toro scallion. We tried the Japanese potato salad, again not anything too special. I got the strawberry sting cocktail, it wasn't bad.Server Keith was nice. Sushi chef was nice.Would I go back for more, probably not.

We came here on a really cold day after making a reservation for 2. They seated us at the counter. Atmosphere and decor were both really nice, although a bit loud in there as expected in NYC. We ordered the asari clam soup, which was a bit salty for my taste, but otherwise really good! My boyfriend loved it though (he likes food really salty). For main course, we ordered the signature set temaki, which comes with 5 pieces (tuna, scallop, kanpachi yellowtail, shrimp, cucumber black sesame*). We also ordered the everything smoked salmon roll after, which was ok (not recommended). *Vegan
Be the first to ReplyAmazing sushi spot! 100% recommend trying this spot.
I was a bit wary as a vegetarian, but it was absolutely delicious!
Be the first to ReplyI came here with my brother and his girlfriend.
We have had hand rolls before. We all chose to make our own set of 5 hand rolls. My favorite was the spicy tuna. There was no wow factor in any of them for me sadly. In appetizers my favorite was the furikake fries. A must! The calamari was a disappointment as I was expecting the crispy round calamari. I don't think I would come back here again.

Be the first to ReplyExceptionally great handrolls here.
Everything is made to order; you get to watch the chefs make it in front of you if you sit at one of their counters. Almost like omakase, so it's an interesting vibe. They serve one handroll at a time so you can really savor the fish. Can't really comment on the other staff though since there was minimal interaction with them. The highlight of the meal was the XO Scallop. I can understand why my friends can't stop talking about it. So good! Second best was the California - the crab was so sweet and fresh. The other hand rolls I got were also really good. 11/10 would come here again.

Sitting at the counter is a must! Reservations open a couple weeks before. Although there are many sushi spots in the city, nami nori stands out. Each hand roll is perfectly seasoned. I really enjoyed the scallop, the coconut shrimp, and spicy crab! Would recommend doing a set of 5!

This place may be very good as far as food is concerned but as far as customer service is concerned, they have an extremely long way to go to accommodate thier customers. We called ahead and made reservations for lunch. We drove from out of town in the rain to get to their butthole in the wall location only to be turned away because they could not find our reservation. Not our fault that whoever answered the phone is illiterate or cant operate a tablet. Turning a customer away in the rain knowing that we called and drove all this way for your overpriced fish is a dick move and karma will remember your shithole when the time comes. FYI, I plan to post this all over the internet!

The outside dining gives a very cozy vibe! The waiters and waitresses are friendly and overall the place has a nice aesthetic and atmosphere. I got the make your own set, which lets you choose any 5 rolls. My personal favorites were the salmon avocado and spicy tuna. All of the hand rolls come in tiny packaging made from plants!

I liked this place! The menu was tasty (definitely on the spicier end) and creative. We started off with the hummy soju seltzer, which was amazing. The $12 price tag is hefty, but considering that it's not available in most places it's definitely worth the splurge. For apps, we had calamari, furikake fries, and the spicy tuna dip. Wasn't a fan of the calamari, but the spicy tuna dip & furikakรฉ fries we're awesome. The temaki were on the spicier side, and I am not a fan of scallops.. but the x. o. Scallop temaki was so refreshing and delicate. It was my favorite item of the night. Overall, a great experience! Only thing i'd really change was not ordering the calamari, and I wish the server was more attentive.
Be the first to ReplyEverything was delicious.
Only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because there's better hand rolls spots with better value. The restaurant is very clean and cute, but also has a kind of stiff energy. The crispy rice chips were really good and the signature set was satisfying/good flavor combos.

Had a great experience here! Absolutely delicious food, and every attentive staff. The signature set was divine - I appreciated the variety of the five different hand rolls, which were all delicious. I thought I would still be hungry after ordering just the signature set but was surprisingly full afterward. I highly recommend giving this place a try! The space itself isn't the largest, so I'd recommend making a reservation in advance.
