Let's just say my shish kebab had 3 steaks, one onion, and two bell peppers. :O! I was initially surprised by the $50 kebab I just bought. But later I realized there were three darn fine slabs of meat on it. It fed me for three dinners! Pick and choose your meats and fish carefully. Theyre not cheap. But they sure are delish!Just look at the meat in that pic!
Be the first to ReplyGreat for the extras, the good coffee, special cheeses, etc.
But alas, no garbage bags.Still, a good place to know about.
Be the first to ReplyFour words.
Soft shell crab sandwich. Get the soft shell crab sandwich and you'll be happy as a clam. Seriously. Their food is delicious and if we come back it's the first place we're going to. Our friends got the fish sandwich and lobster roll, and both were phenomenal as well.COVID: They're only allowing four customers in their store at a time to enforce social distancing. It's fine, though; there's so much outdoor seating just outside that it's not a problem at all.Great seafood at a great price on a very expensive island.
Be the first to ReplyI find myself here almost every day.
Staff is always friendly, they have a great selection of food and they have the best sushi on the island! Thankful to have this place.
Be the first to ReplyGreat cuts of steak and fish and fun gourmet options.
They have lots of jarred goodies. I also appreciated all the dairy free alternatives at the market. They do breakfast and lunch counter service: sushi, sandwiches... things like that. My main complaint was that the produce selection was pretty sad. Few options and as far as fruit goes, under ripe or nearly going bad. For a gourmet style market, I would expect a little more.

This place has good sushi, a good meat & fish department but is very pricey. A great little market but be ready to open and empty your wallet!

If this is a helpful reference point, quality and price are along the lines of an Ottomanelli's or Lobel's in NYC. That is to say: Everything is expensive, but nothing we've ever tried has been clearly not worthy of the price. And pricing is about on par with other semi-chichi markets we've stumbled across on Nantucket (e.g. 167 Raw, Sayles, where local oysters are about $2 each, across the board, and scallops run just under $30 / lb). Unlike some of its competition, the setup here is clean, expansive, bright, and extremely neat / clean, more evocative of Vermont, where I understand the ownership / management hails, than Boston. Our favorite items to purchase are the unadulterated raw products, but prepared salads -- especially seafood salads -- are well made and enjoyable. Maki and nigiri sushi, available near the cashiers at the front, are ok, probably as good as you'll find on the island: The fish is of good quality, vegetables in vegetable rolls are quite fresh (cucumber and carrots are crispy, avocado appropriately creamy and ripe); the sushi rice is... not what Nakazawa would serve in Jiro Dreams of Sushi. Rolls like tuna, yellowtail, or mixed vegetable, generally run a little south of $10 / roll. As a less-than-100lb person who is moderately active, I can polish off at least two of these without so much as a blink. There's a bakery counter on the left when you walk in, which we've never tried. Standard market items (i.e. organic lettuce clamshell packs, fresh corn on the cob) are fresh, but approximately 15-25% more expensive than what you'll find for sale at Stop and Shop.Worth it? Perhaps. If you have an itch that needs scratching. Even if not... heck... it's ACK.

Not cheap, but wow what a fantastic butcher shop and fine grocery. The meat selection, especially beef is beyond most you'll find anywhere in NYC, including all levels of dry aged, waygu, and Japenese Waygu steaks. Obviously the seafood is amazing as well. Don't sleep on the marinated options they have either.
Be the first to ReplyThis is an exciting addition to the island.
Conveniently located on my morning commute to tennis, their peach muffins are DELICIOUS. Not quite on par with the blueberry muffins from the (now-closed) Petticoat Bakery, but very close. The other breakfast pastries are just okay, and they have a Starbucks coffee bar. It can get very crowded - families with lots of young children - early in the morning, so be prepared to wait for coffee. They have a limited selection of produce and groceries, which are ideal for grilling out. The meat selection is by far the best on the island, with the Greek lamb being my personal favorite. Their sushi is also fresh and portable, as we often order from here for to-go platters for parties or the boat. Cheese selection is also divine -- this is a must-go when cooking at home!
