Great location - horrendous value
As a native New Englander, whenever a beach day in Malibu ends, I find myself craving legit seafood. For some reason, despite not having visited Neptune's Net for years... I find myself thinking... maybe I should go there... that might be just what the doctor ordered. The idea of an oceanside seafood restaurant carries a certain nostalgia which is why I'm always tempted to go. So today... we went. Starting with the good... there's no question that the best thing about Neptune's Net is easily its AMAZING location with ocean views. It's quite lovely. Before you get in line, you chose your drink some several coolers, which is kind of fun. Adult and non-adult beverages alike. The menu is large, so that's all good. But sadly, I remembered why I stopped coming here those years ago... the value. It is crazy overpriced for what you get. Now I know what you're thinking... "It's a seafood place... seafood is expensive everywhere". But that's the thing... I can understand seafood being expensive... it's the other stuff where they nickel and dime you that adds up. Let's start with the KIDS hotdog meal. $12 for literally a regular hotdog and some fries. No drink. No veggies... not even a super cool hotdog. This would be cheaper in Disneyland. No joke. I ordered a Burger as a lettuce wrap (no bun) and asked for a salad instead of fries. This was the most basic burger you could ever imagine: $18. We each got a regular 20oz plastic bottle of coke (currently 4.29 for a 6 pack at Target)... 4.50. My wife enjoyed we $21 fish plate... so that was actually an okay value... it's all the other stuff. They even charge you if you want extra salad dressing. We spent nearly $150 for a family of four and my daughter is TWO! Literally my two year old's meal of a hot dog, fries and lemonade was $17 without tax or tip. Also, their bathroom situation is port-o-potties that were in definitely in need of service. The parking lot was fast and easy though. It was just a bummer. I'm glad we went as we had fun, and I paid a premium for the lesson of fighting the nostalgic urge to go to this little seafood place and never coming here again. There are much better places. I'd advice against it.

Meh. Clam chowder was ok, Not a clam insight. Seriously thought it would be better considering they are near the ocean. The piece of fried fish was OK too. Seriously nothing to write home about. Sometimes I think these rave reviews are written by people that work at these places or relatives! By the way the tables were also dirty. :(

I ordered a $16 chicken salad. It came out not with grilled chicken over the top but actual chicken nuggets cut up as the topping. Huh? That is something I would serve a toddler. For that price, at least give me real chicken.

One of the freshest seafood spots I have experienced in my life time. This is a must do when on the west coast and for the die hard Fast and Furious fans as one makes it a point to visit sites from the Fast and Furious movies. Parking is a little tricky if you don't mind the walk. The views and beach opportunities are amazing down the Pacific Coast Highway after you finish eating.

Neptune’s Net is truly a neat experience. This famous location was outstanding. I ate way too much because there were so many good choices! I had the fish and chips, and truly the VERY BEST CLAM CHOWDER! After spending so much time in New England, this clam chowder is superior. In addition, the raw oysters were great!! So many good beers to chose from as well. Truly a cool experience at a movie location setting! Thank you Neptune’s Net for such a great meal!

Good food and beer selection, with a fantastic view. Perfect place to stop after a drive up PCH from downtown.

Wanted to try a little roadside seafood place because I had seen them on a ton of travel shows. Beautiful drive down the coast to get here. This is right on the highway and even with the GPS we passed it. Turned around and ordered at the counter. Had peel and eat shrimp, fish, clams, calamari, dungeness crab and the clam chowder. Everything was yummy! We left stuffed! We had to sit pretty close to the highway so be prepared for wind.

Hadn’t been to Neptune’s since riding motorcycles up there 10 years ago and it was always a great spot to stop and grab a bite. Coming back from a trip up the Central Coast we decided to take the coast route back and stop at Neptune’s for a late lunch. I got fish tacos, my wife got fish and chips. The tacos were edible because of the tortilla and sauce, the fish with the fish and chips was horrible. Very little fish, a lot of batter and took us back to the days of eating Morton’s frozen fish when we were broke. 4 hours later, I still have the greasy aftertaste which is why I jumped on the review. The guys working there were cool and the view is awesome. However if you want some good fish, head back towards Malibu or up to Ventura.

This is a great little spot in an area without many options. It’s got a nice vibe - bikers, surfers, locals - and a surprisingly expansive menu. I had the tuna melt and fries and steamed veggies. Great portions, all prepared fresh. Really nice service, too.

Great experience at this cool little joint. Friendly service and delicious wine/beer/calamari. View of the Pacific with kite surfers. Recommend.

The seafood is awful , they lie about freshness and the size. Seafood simpler is small , oysters are not fresh ,shrimps are really small.
Good place to stop for fast food, terrible place for fresh seafood.
Good fried seafood across the street from the beach
We got a fried seafood platter and glad we were able to try a bit of everything. The fried scallops and shrimp were my favorite. Come with an appetite! Due to COVID-19, the parking lot is set up right now for walk up orders and takeout only and you have to park on the street. If you get there early, you can get a table, only the few available on the patio have shade, the rest are scattered in front of their building with no shade. Or, walk across the street and eat on the beach!
