Came here with my wife on July 1st. We had friends in the area and decided to stop by. We got inside after showing our IDs and the Bouncer checking our bags which is pretty normal for a club, however this was not a club. The Décor is very nice inside when you walk in and has little stores where you can buy beach goodies like bathing suits. Once we got inside we got a drink at the bar as we texted our friends to see where they were. One Moscow mule in a Rocks glass with Well alcohol and a water was $32. We got in touch with our friends and met them at the day beds. Going forward in the review, I just want to state that this is not my first rodeo at clubs, as an investor in Nightlife venues and having traveled all over the world to visit various venues, I have a more nuanced understanding of the business landscape. Nikki Beach club was for the most part empty in the daybed/beach club section of the club and the dining tables I would say were at medium capacity. The service was OK at best at the day beds; when my wife wanted another drink and we ordered at the daybeds with our friends, it took a long time (we waited 30 minutes) so we just asked them to cancel the cocktail my wife ordered and we simply walked over to the bar for another drink- The bar was pretty much empty. I can not say much about the food as we did not order any food; however our friends did have a sushi platter that they said was “ok.” Our friends were drinking beers for the most part with the girls’ enjoying cocktails. It was very hot out – over 90 on that day. Note: I am a music snob- especially when it comes to these kinds of venues, and the music was not very good. The “DJs” just playing a playlist on one single CDJ (there wasn’t really any real mixing or blending of tracks to transition from one to the other) with the DJ sitting on his phone for most of the time. In-between tracks pretending to do something on the mixer like rotate a filter knob or lowering the low end of the eq. The transitions from track to track where jarring at times and really took you out if you were paying attention to the music- with the selection of the music not really feeling like a “beach club sound” more like a cross of a Riddim dance hall or your nephews basement who just discovered Mumble rap and Drake. there was another DJ earlier who had laptop plugged in to the mixer however it wasn’t really much better as he didn’t seem to do much either- Just hit Sync and Play as if he were a human jukebox. When we asked about this, we were told the playlist was decided by corporate and the DJs didn’t really have much say in what was played. I don’t understand why claim to have a DJ or any artist for the matter if you can just play a Spotify playlist and get the same effect. Why pay for a DJ when Spotify premium only costs $10 a month and will most likely have better effects. It got very hot where we were sitting (and we have been here for about 4 hours at this point) and we had asked the service guys if we can move over to a different place where there is shade. This is where things get really weird for us. Our party had 8 people total (including us – who didn’t order any drinks from the table service) and when we asked to move were told we need to close our tab and open a new tab where we would need to meet the minimum requirements for the new area where we wanted to sit- problem was our group did not meet the minimum requirements for the current area which was to spend roughly 100 a person in the group for the day bed (sorry what?) which they calculated to be 800 total not including tips to the service (8 people). I had brought up that we were not able to order anything from the waiters as it took extremely long to get our orders together and that we were actually going back and forth to the bar to get our drinks. After some arguments with the manager he agreed to not charge us the 100 minimum- however the rest of the party were still subject to it and we were not still not at the minimum threshold. This would have been fine if we were able to simply move to the new area and hang out, we would have continued to purchase more drinks, and perhaps My wife and I would be able to order some drinks. However they said, No - We need to close the tab out and start a new tab with a new minimum order- meaning we had to pay up an addition amount to close the tab. Again - I want to state that The Beach club area was essentially empty and the fact that Hospitality gave us all this headache when we simply wanted to move to a more comfortable place; it would not cost them anything to move us to a more comfortable place and we would have stayed longer and spent more money. Instead we decided to simply leave instead of giving this venue any more money. They still somehow found a way to charge 6 people ~$1000 for few buckets a beer and a handful of cocktails. As a “thank you” or consolation price – not sure what it was- they gave us a 40$ bottle of Rose to go which they charge 100$ for at the tables. In Short- The venue is nice, The music was awful and pretty much a Joke- considering Miami and South beach is an area just teeming with talent in which international stars, artists, and DJs are flying in and out every week and Pretty sure a majority of the local talent would love to show their chops and promote the place for a good party which would lead to more pizza and alcohol sales (which is where a majority of profits come from at these places.) The service and Hospitality staff made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable by the end of our stay with wait staff taking very long to simply bring beer and water to the table and all the Staff did was blame “corporate” at the end. I will not be coming back here and spending money any time soon short of some redeeming events- such as Better Hospitality (what does Hospitality mean again??) and a better music program.
