Best food in San Diego.
I highly recommend this place. The Cacio e Pepe is phenomenal and the chicken entree is our favorite too. Food, service, Ambiance all is so great.

I had the lamb loin and while it was gamey the pickled blackberries harmoniously worked together with the lamb. That being said probably some of the worst service I've had at a restaurant. The manager was extremely rude, he didn't make any eye contact, ignored are questions and walked away. We had a reservation at 7:45 and once our table was ready no one even let us know. We didn't sit until 8:10. Our waitress was a college age girl who was pleasant until we were just asking some simple questions at the menu. Even as she was walking away multiple members of our dinner saw her making negative remarks and facial expressions while walking away. A food runner also was most likely under the influence of something. We asked him what desserts he recommended and he almost panicked, couldn't answer the question, and walked away quickly. Very very strange lol not to mention our desserts were forgotten about. Overall I'm not sure I'll ever go here again. The food is good but the service...I don't want to deal with people like that when the tip is already included in our bill. For the sake of the amazing chef please put your staff in check!

I stayed at the Grande Colonial and before checking out decided to try out their restaurant for breakfast - I had the French toast, it was very sweet but very good. I liked the presentation of it. Also ordered a side of eggs to accompany it. I would have given 5 stars but our waiter was not very attentive, we were waiting awhile to place our order because he was chatting with the other staff.

I had a great old fashioned. For starters we had the Caesar salad and Jamaican Jerk Pork Belly. It only comes with three pieces, but you can split the third easily. We both had the half jerk chicken, which was phenomenal. It was not only tender, but it had an amazing flavor, which was very unique. It was definitely, by far, one of the best chicken dishes I've had. The staff were extremely friendly with the manager making rounds to check on all the guests. The only feedback I have would be the interior. The interior feels quite old-fashioned, which doesn't create a cozy date night dining atmosphere. The bright lights and slow ambiance give it more of a cafeteria feel, and I don't remember any background music either. Besides that this spot is great!

We had their sashimi to start and it was full of flavor and a lovely touch of acidity. We had the duck as an entree, which came with a pretty decent amount of meat, and asparagus and mushrooms on the side. I'm definitely not doing it justice in the description but it was delicious and filling. Not my favorite duck I've ever had but still tasted great. My favorite part was their half baked chocolate cake. It was the perfect cherry on top of a great meal.

- Snap pea salad: This was recommended by our server because we were on the fence between this and the asparagus salad. It definitely felt like a Spring dish. - Lamb loin: I'm usually not a fan of lamb because it tastes too earthy to me. However, my husband convinced me to get it to share, and I'm somewhat glad he did. On one hand, it was very delicious and made me rethink how I feel about lamb. On the other, how can I ever eat it anywhere else when Nine-Ten made it so perfectly delicious? The restaurant can get quite loud, but we didn't mind it too much. We enjoyed the ambiance and felt our server was friendly and attentive. Can't wait to visit again!

Anyone giving less than 5 stars are wannabe food critics who never worked in a kitchen. This place is good. It's expensive but worth it. Did the chef tasting menu with the wine pairing and it's exactly what to expect from a Michelin recommended restaurant. Food is great. Wine was great. Wait staff was great.

We've experience Chef Knibbs talent creating new American cuisine with an elegant twist. Service is excellent thanks to our server Chris . Highly recommend this restaurant .

Staff were so friendly and attentive. We started with the Cacio e Pepe and the Jerk Pork Belly. Both were delicious. The pork belly was so good and a must order. For dinner we had the ribeye and halibut, which was the night's special. Both were fantastic and well balanced. Such a nice meal!

There's not much to say about Nine-Ten other than it's outstanding. Every visit has been top-notch. The food is so good. I'd recommend the hamachi sashimi, ahi crudo, Jamaican jerk pork belly, Parker rolls, black cod, lamb, and ribeye... you can't go wrong with anything here. The service and staff are wonderful. Nice cocktails. Valet or street parking.

My dining experience at this establishment was a mix of highs and lows. The Little Gem salad showcased a harmonious blend of flavors, while the Grilled Prime Ribeye stood out for its excellent preparation and balanced fat content. The Duck dish was equally impressive in its execution. However, the Pan-Roasted Black Cod fell short, as it was overcooked and lacked the desired flakiness. Moving to desserts, the S'mores failed to meet expectations with its light cream and subtle chocolate, though the Pineapple Sorbet provided a refreshing conclusion. Overall, while the restaurant delivered on some fronts, inconsistencies in execution detracted from an otherwise enjoyable meal. It served as a memorable outing for our Canadian guests experiencing American cuisine for the first time.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing spot for fancy dinner.
Husband and I visited on our honey/baby moon. Our server was quite friendly and knowledgeable about the wine pairing my husband had with our chefs menu, 8 course meal. We did specify that I could not have raw/undercooked seafood or unpasteurized cheese - which our server was aware of and confirmed. Not sure the kitchen got the memo as 2 of the courses (salmon and cheese) as that was just what they had on the menu. Food was delightful overall, extremely well put together/presented.

Had a delightful dinner at Nine-Ten as we were visiting a friend living in San Diego. Quiet ambience, and efficient service. The food was perfectly prepared. I had the lamb loins preceded by the crab ravioli. A highly enjoyable evening.

I've dined here a few times, and every time has hit the spot. Upscale, classy, and delicious. The steak was very good, as well as the Jamaican pork appetizer. Some of the brunch options are good too but seem pretty basic as any brunch spot is. I'd recommend this as a good date spot or for celebration of a special occasion. In fact, I went on my birthday last year and the staff went above and beyond and signed a card for me - it felt so special, and the service was superb. Things are a bit pricey, but it's what one might expect at such a nice place. This spot has earned my loyalty as a goto upscale dining spot in la Jolla right by the beach. If you are looking to be wined and dined, this is hands down the spot.

Fabulous! Out of curiosity, I ordered the cauliflower steak instead of the rib eye. It was delicious!
Be the first to ReplyVery impressive.
Impeccable service, generous drinks and the finest food in La Jolla. I've been here a handful of times and been more impressed each time. Charming atmosphere with a rotating menu but I can highly recommend all the pasta dishes, scallops and the Colorado Lamb as consistently delicious. Fine dining at its best with fair prices.
Be the first to ReplyThis might be my new favorite restaurant.
We ordered the hamachi sashimi, tiger prawns special for appetizer. Both plates were exquisite. Entrees were the scallops and ribeye again both plates were delicious. Best scallops that I have ever tasted. Service was excellent and the establishment had a nice ambiance. Overall 5 stars!

Eric and Veronica at the front desk are rude and make the entire experience unbearable. With a baby and getting to the restaurant on time they stated they had to seat 5-6 tables before us and it would take 30 minutes to seat them. Not sure how it takes 30 minutes to seat 5 parties, should take 1 minute. I would have been happy to seat myself, but instead Eric and Veronica wanted to ruin the night for everyone. Opposite of what you want when you dine out to relax. Total opposite. They should be let go, host staff being nice is important for a restaurant and the fact that they are still working means management is horrendous. Shame on them.
Be the first to ReplyIt's a nice place for a date night.
Service is pleasant - food is delicious. Plates are a little on the light side so it's more about the ambience.

I have been dreaming about the Sea Bass for months after I had it! It was probably the most delicious thing I have had in a while. Service was great and despite the restaurant being a little small, it had a wonderful cozy energy!

We found this dining experience via OpenTable while searching for a great anniversary dinner in a new city.Their Mercy of the Chef tasting menu looked fun, so we went for it.The whole team gave great service, and our server, Chris, was super knowledgeable about wine. We don't drink, but we heard him having a really conversation with the next table over. If you're a wine lover, I'd request him as your server. Each meal was delicious. Pacing was fantastic. There were just two of us and we had to leave for a movie, so they kept it moving nicely for us, even adding an additional course and an additional dessert. We upgraded to the white truffles on the pasta course, which was really good and probably my favorite course.Hot tip for anyone who isn't too concerned with being elegant: keep the bread coming and use it to sop up the sauce with each dish. So good! The only thing I'd note for anyone considering this place is that as we drove up it was sunset time and the views were spectacular - and this restaurant doesn't have any views. The bulk of dinner was once it was dark, so it didn't really matter, but if you want an ocean view, this isn't your place.Otherwise, definitely a great place for a great meal.

Went with husband and infant to place order for take out on a Friday right when they opened for dinner. The service was horrible. The host did not greet us and avoided eye contact the entire time. I don't understand why he was standing there if he was going to act that way. A server (?) came and stood next to him as she took our order. Again, she didn't even bother to greet or introduce herself. The server who gave us the food didn't greet either and the host turned his body away when we went to pick up the food. I think the staff need to be reminded of common manners or something because it left a very poor impression on us... probably will not be returning again because of their rude services and the food was just mediocre. We ordered two burgers, one to be cooked medium and another medium rare. They were both pretty rare. The pork belly looked like someone ate half of it and threw the rest in the bigger box... they should've just used the smaller boxes they used for the fries.
