89/10 this was absolutely AMAZING. This melted in my mouth, absolutely unreal. It was the size of my pinky toe but so absolutely worth it. If I participated in an eating contest I'd choose these. Lobster Taco 9/10 very delicious and packed with lobsta. Had light yet powerful citrus flavor. House Roll 8.8/10 had crab, tuna, salmon, toro and one more thing that I forget. Very yummy, loaded roll. I hated the white crunchy wrap on the outside to I removed it with each bite. Order without. Spicy Tuna Roll 8.4/10 fresh and delicious. A nice staple I will always get. Relatively cheap too. Baked Crab Handroll 7.6/10 I was so full at this point it was hard to enjoy. Mango Passion Martini 9.3/10 I think the best martini I have ever had. Sweet and delicious. Had a nice texture too. Espresso Martini 5.3/10 not impressed

Absolutely love this spot! Sushi with a view of the water and delicious cocktails is the perfect recipe for a girls night out. Be sure to order the date cake for dessert it's so so good!! On Sunday February 26, 2023 we went to nobu to celebrate my daughter's birthday with my family, wow what a great experience it was our first time going that far from Upland CA to Malibu to celebrate dinner with the fam. I asked for the pineapple passion fruit martini and I loved it and I had to get a second one. I ordered the lobster with shrimps and mushrooms sauce and it was delicious and very filling and I ordered a shrimp tempura roll and it was good also and lastly I ordered a date cake and it was phenomenal good. I don't recall what everyone ordered but everything was good. Service wise was so good and smooth and the ambiance was very calming and the view to the ocean was beautiful

A $200 omakase meal at the sushi counter here clearly means something different than it does in Tokyo, NYC, SF or the rest or LA. At Nobu Malibu it means a bit of sushi, a bunch of cooked food and a ton of terrible service. This was unequivocally the worst meal we have ever had at this price point.

After living in LA for 10 years I finally came to Nobu to see what the hype was about and I was very underwhelmed. The food was ok. The cooked hot food was tasty but sushi was whatever. If you can get a seat outside by the water, the views are amazing. Those tables are hard to come by, and I know because I waited a while before I could secure one of them. We all ordered the omakase and I would not recommend it. Every single dish was actually was very disappointing. I can't remember one that I enjoyed. Everything was heavily sauced, which is a shame because great ingredients were used. So honestly the dishes are just pretty to look at, but not much else. Service was excellent though. I would only return for drinks and small bites. And not have such high expectations.

My husband and I decided to see what the hype was all about after hearing about Nobu on a rap song. "NOBU NOBU NOBU!" Did not disappoint, we did a walk in on a Sunday night and was placed on a 45 min waitlist but was able to find seats at the bar while we waited for a table to become available. The drinks were good, and the food was even better. 10/10 would return!

My family and I visited Nobu on Christmas Day and made it one to never forget. The servers are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate - the ingredients are a privilege to work with and they make sure to pay them due respect. Presentation on every dish was exquisite and if you can’t work out what to go for I recommend letting your server know what sort of flavours you like - giving them a rough budget and then enjoying being surprised because nothing will disappoint. Although the Black Cod Nobu is famous for is a MUST.

It was such a hyped that when you visit LA must go to Nobu. We arrived before the door was open as we had a reservation at 12 pm. We were the 2nd guests to walk in and were greeted just normally by the hostess Alexa, she brought us a table which is a small table for 2 in front of a folding door. I looked around there were plenty of seats and I was looking around if she could show me a better table. But she just simply said this is the size of a table for 2 people and walked away not even trying to help. With such a high-end restaurant how could a hostess treat the guests coldly without even trying? The server saved our expectations, KARDELL is such a warm person, explained the menu in detail and not trying to rush us at all. Such a lively and cheerful person which was just the opposit of the hostess.

Reservations: For starters I would echo other's sentiments that even having a reservations tab on their website is useless, and should just be removed (however I think this is done with intent). If you've read any reviews for Nobu Malibu you know that: A) you can't make reservations online B) you have to call their reservation line to make a reservation C) reservations can only be made as far out as 1 month in advance, to the date. Not 30 days, not 31 days. You want a reservation for October 27th, you have to call on September 27th D) Their reservation line opens at 10:00am local time With this information in hand, I made our reservation 1 month in advance, called the exact moment they opened and wound up 14th in the queue. This translated into the earliest available dinner reservation as being 9:15 PM. This of course was no problem for us, as we were on our way to Tahiti and were attempting to acclimate to the time difference anyways. But to say the least, making a reservation as part of the general public appears to be intentionally cumbersome. Food & Drinks: I would say the food is good. Don't expect to be BLOWN AWAY by it or anything, but to be honest I think when you come to Nobu Malibu, you're there more for the ambiance than anything. Among the food that we sampled were some shrimp and tamago nagiri which were fine. The wagyu tacos were quite good. And the rock shrimp tempura and shrimp/lobster in spicy lemon sauce was good as well. I was a big fan of the bento box and definitely would give that a try. All the drinks that we tried were well made, Vespertine, Lychee martini, etc. Staff: The bartenders were quite enjoyable and pleasant, the hostesses rather aloof, and the servers were attentive. Atmosphere: This is the real star of the show here isn't it? The location is superb, and the outdoor area has fantastic views. Great venue for celebrity spotting, as we saw a couple while there.

From the Service to the food everything was Amazing! Our server guided us through the menu and made very good recommendations that we tried. My husband had the Omakase -Multi course menu option, and I tried a little bit of everything, from the scallops for appetizers, the Wagyu Tacos, the Lobster and shrimp entree, everything was Outstanding. we arrived a touch late and our car was taken by the valet which all went smoothly we were greeting and promptly shown to our table; it was outside and had the must stunning views of the sea and the rest of the restaurant. straight away we had still water, which was constantly refilled throughout the meal, i didn’t have an empty glass once! we then ordered food after the menu had been explained to us since this was our first time in nobu, we first pursed a few cold fish dishes, some miso soup and the ribeye tacos, all of which were perfect and i would get again in a heartbeat Our second course of lobster, two different types of steak, squid pasta and dover sole arrived, yet again all of them were perfect The rest of the party i was in eat fish however i’ve never liked it at all, however every single bit of fish i tried here i had seconds (or thirds!) Next we ordered some pieces of sushi as a palette cleanser which tasted perfect with the soy spice and finished with the iconic bento box. I particularly liked the style of the bento box and it was really fun! All in all, this was one of my favourite meals ever! We are in California for 6 more nights and i don’t think we’ll get a meal better than this! (we phoned up exactly 30 days in advance which i would recommend if you want an outside seat)

I am from Singapore and had wanted to book lunch for 20 November. Since early October I have since emailed Nobu thrice but no reply. Simultaneously I tried the open table system and until 21 October it’s still stated as “the restaurant does not take reservations so far in advance”. I have tried at least 20 times on a daily basis since October. So today I decided to pay for an international call but was told they are fully booked on 20 November? Can you just remove your system with Open Table? In this digital age you are forcing customers to call internationally. Why set up the Open Table?

I felt bummed that I could not make a reservation for 1 or get an estimate on the wait time over the phone. When I arrived I put my name in for a table and found a seat at the bar pretty quickly. They said the table would take an hour and a half. I got the table in 10 minutes or so and switched over there since the bar was very noisy and crowded. I didn't realize that my table was right in front of the fish at the sushi bar. I am vegan and animal products tend to make my stomach turn. When I told the waiter I was vegan and gluten free she said that would be tough, but named a few popular substitutions. I ordered the artichoke salad which had a gross, salty fishy taste. The eggplant miso was delicious and the veggie sushi was good. I also really like the passion fruit lychee drink I got. When I left I was still hungry but I really wanted to get away from the view and smell of the fish.

I am the wrong demographic for this restaurant. Literally everyone else in Nobu tonight was young, beautiful and rich. I am none of the above.That said, let me explain the rating that is so different than most of the others posted.We called a month ago to make this reservation to celebrate my wife's and my daughter's birthdays. We wanted an outside table only (both because of being covid cautious and because the view is soooo much better when you are seated outside). No problem and they would acknowledge the birthdays by putting their names and a candle in the dessert we order. While they did honor the time of our reservation, we were given a table away from the outside deck close to the bar. The host told us they would never guarantee an outside table - take it or leave it. When our dessert came, no candle or name on the plate. Not even a verbal "happy birthday" from the food runner who brought the dessert to the table. And in addition to not having the view of the ocean, our inside table was literally 6 inches from the tables next to ours. While I could not hear a word my daughter was saying, the stranger sitting 6 inches from me at the next table was a loud talker. I heard every word of her conversation. The noise level in the inside area was akin to what you get a loud rock concert. Some people like that vibe. I found it quite unpleasant.The food was good. We started with a charred octopus special ($36). That was the highlight of the evening. Really very good. My second favorite was the king crab amazu . A bit spicy but excellent. The crispy shiitake salad ($25) and the sea bass shemeji ($44) were OK - not great but OK. We shared the bento box ($16) for dessert. Good, not great.Th enjoyment of a meal at a high end fancy restaurant is a combo of food, service , and ambiance. Here, the food was good to excellent, the service was excellent throughout. But the ambiance was such a negative, I would never go back (since they could not promise an outside table) nor would recommend that a friend go there.

This used to be one of my favorites restaurants when I lived in the area. My most recent experience was very disappointing. The hostess was a bit snobbish and unwelcoming. We were provided with 1 menu despite there being more than 1 person seated at the table. Apparently, we were expected to share the menu. I had to ask for eating utensils after my meal was served. This just wasn't the level of service that I'm accustomed to or expected from NOBU. It used to have 5-Star service. Also, it didn't appear to be very clean. The food was still good and one of the hosts, Eric was friendly so that's why I'm giving it 3 stars. I had a much better experience at Geoffrey's up the road.

Yes, it's a bit of a scene with the crowds, and the stream of "Nobu beach photos" taken by influencer wannabes is annoying BUT the food and roaring waves of carbon beach are worth it. You will see all types of people here -- my advice is to keep it low key and enjoy the company you're keeping. Not everything needs to be documented.

A LOT. I mean who doesn't? But not for the sushi as you can get the same or better elsewhere but for their cold and hot dishes. This is where they really shine. For cold, Torodito Nobu Style, Bluefin Toro Tartare, Crispy Shitake Salad, Fluke Sashimi w/Dried Miso and Yuzu. Shima Aji w/fried leeks is the only amazing nigiri we'll get as no one has it. For hot, Scallop Truffle Chips, Eggplant Spicy Miso, Dover Sole w/Crispy Spinach, Rib Eye w/Truffle Butter Sauce is YUM AF, Crispy Okra and Crispy Brussels Sprouts. My mouth is watering thinking about the food there. And fine. They shine with their desserts too. I really miss their Black Forest Cake dessert but their Date Cake and Semifreddo hit the spot too. I've had both omakase offerings and both were really good so if it's your first time trying Nobu it's worth getting the omakase to get a feel for what they have to offer but again, the hot & cold dishes are bomb. And yes, it's one of the most beautiful restaurants you can dine in on the coast with an incredible view. It's a bit bougie with the flashiest cars in the lot and name brand everything being worn by uber rich folks all around. I mean SoHo house is right across the way. And with celebrities popping in on the regular, reservations are hard to come by so good luck! And be ready to throw down some coin.

My partner, who is elderly and suffers from serious disabilities—namely, diabetes osteoarthritis, and recent total replacements for both knees—had an atrocious experience after many years of loyalty. After we arrived on July 14 at noon, hostess Alexa sized us up and visibly scoffed at our Ukrainian badges and insignia, which we both prominently and proudly wore in support of Ukraine during the war. She rudely insistent that we wait despite our pleas to be seated as our third person was unlikely to make it due to circumstances beyond our control. As we explained to her manager (see below), if we were not to seated my partner would have likely passed out and been in a lot of pain. After a very embarrassing exchange with Alexa, she finally sat us at a table, which was inappropriate for a handicapped person despite our plea to move us. Alexa refused, using the excuse that “all tables have been reserved” as she again looked our Ukrainian outfits up and down. Her discrimination was obvious on its face. We immediately addressed this issue with Alisa, the alleged manager on duty. She squarely refused to do anything about it and refused to move us to an appropriate table despite me reminding her that their actions were in violation of both federal and state law. Indeed, she has implemented a double standard right before our eyes as she sat a single gentleman at a large table, whose party showed up at least 30 minutes late. Again, very obvious discrimination. Unfortunately, my partner was quickly fading away, so we had to stay and have him eat at least something before we could leave for another place. All in all, this has caused significant public embarrassment and discomfort for my partner. Poor sole. This incident is particularly disappointing because both my partner and I have been very loyal patrons of Nobu across the world. The Nobu restaurants used to be where we’d take out business partners, clients and family for years without an issue. That will be unlikely the case moving forward. We will escalate this issue to the HQ, as well as the local government, including congressman Ted Lieu. Nobu is in a serious need of management change, staff training on disability laws and an anti discrimination policy.

Here we go again. Serving high profile people but the food… I do get better food in a small average restaurant in Glasgow or in Los Angeles than here. Typical famous because famous people are visiting who obviously doesn’t have any standards. Just a show off for your insta or Facebook but actually if you have standards and you don’t care about showing off please do yourself a favour and go somewhere else. Small portions, very expensive the quality isn’t there.

I've been to Nobu Vegas--garbage. I've had Michelin starred sushi in DC--great. I've had fantastic strip mall sushi for $10. If I had to eat sushi for breakfast lunch and dinner for the rest of my life I'd be happy about it. So yeah. This shit is the real fuckin deal. When I describe this experience to my friends I like to say I felt like for the first time in my life I truly understood the passion of a chef lol. I went alone and gave myself a $100 budget, walked in and was like ok it's gonna be $200 lol, then got the check for $250 so after a 20% tip it was $300 and you know what? Worth it. Every damn dime. I did the off menu omakase (the one where u Can tell them the kind of shit u like and they curate it for you), and I had some kind of fruity cocktail and it was just. Honestly when I left I was almost sad because I started thinking about how most people will never get to experience that kind of sublime ecstatic joy lol. Kinda fucked up but damn if you can swing it don't miss it for the world. The crowd isn't really my vibe but when the meal Is immaculate I don't give a shit. Flawless service obviously. Oh yeah, and the view's not bad either.Edit: looking at some of the sub-5 star reviews and people are talking about rolls...bitch I'm sorry but if you're gonna spend triple digits on sushi it's omakase of nothing lol like come on.
