I've seen places on Instagram and have been disappointed, so I was holding my breath for Nobu. It's everything I was hoping it would be and more! I had my anniversary dinner at Nobu and we made it to our reservation just before doors were closing because I got off work late. I expected service to be rushed or for the hosts to be annoyed, but they were all smiles and graciousness! The wait staff was incredibly polite and friendly, from our waiter to the bussers. We didn't feel rushed at all, and the waiter made sure that we had our order in before the kitchen closed. I could tell how much though and careful preparation went into each dish. The yellowtail was fresh and bright and as per our waiter's suggestion, best eaten with the seedless jalepeño and some of the cilantro. I was really worried about the spice level because my tolerance is zero, but I couldn't even taste the spicy! The crispy rice had to be one of my favorites. Texture was spot on and I really liked the ginger(?) dipping sauce that it came with. The salmon and tuna tacos tasted similar so we probably should have ordered more different proteins. There was a hint of wasabi in the sauce inside, but not overpowering at all for someone who usually doesn't like horse radish. Waygu dumplings A++++! It came with a sesame sauce that I didn't care for but the dumplings were so good that I could eat them even without a sauce. Miso glazed salmon was ultra sweet. I think I would have liked it a little less sweet, but not a big deal. Prime rib was impressive and the sauce was so delicious that I was dipping my Wagyu dumplings in it. Banana toban for dessert with house made Malaga gelato was also a hit!
