Got shumai and the special bacon pork and shrimp dumplings
Got shumai and the special bacon pork and shrimp dumplings delivered. Food arrived cold and that wasn't bc it came late. In fact , the delivery was prompt. The delivery person must've picked it up cold from the restaurant. The shumai looked old. The meat on top was dry looking. Even worse it tasty like fish gone bad. Even my other dumplings tasted sour. I only ate one of each. An hour later, I was running to the bathroom. I also got a bottle of the peanut sauce. The bottle cap wasn't secured. So I don't know if I want to take a chance on it. It does tastes good though. Maybe I just got a bad batch but still deserves no stars

Friendly staff and cute space! I went on LNY, so it was definitely more crowded than usual. We ordered on the kiosk, and it came out in a reasonable about of time. Definitely a fast casual place. The Chinese broccoli was slightly cold when it got to us, but everything else was solid!

When you walk in, there are ipads to order from and I believe you can order from a person if you are paying cash. You then just sit and wait until they call your name and bring you a tray of food. There are only a few tables inside and then outdoor seating as well, and seems to be equally popular to order takeout as it is to eat there. My favorites were the Shrimp and pork siu mai and the chicken soup dumplings. While I enjoyed my duck bun, it didn't have the best ratio of duck to greens - that said, my friend seemed to have more duck on hers, so maybe I just got the weaker bun. Scallion pancakes were good, not overly greasy like I've had at other places, and I had tried the Phoenix buns (for the first time ever, so I don't have a good comparison for those!). The Sloppy Joe noodles were interesting, but I think I'd rather try something else instead of revisiting that item the next time I go.I'm planning a dumpling tour with some friends soon, and will certainly suggest this as a stop along the way!

Nom Wah did an amazing job catering a dim sum brunch for 100 people! We highly recommend them to anyone looking for authentic dim sum! Their contact form online was easy to use, and their staff were very helpful throughout the process. They provided great advice and helped us craft a balanced menu of dim sum plates, dumplings, and larger "ho fun" trays, all while making sure that we included vegetarian and gluten free options for our guests with allergies. Nom Wah provided a buffet attendant who kept the area clean for the duration of our event. They also provided the needed napkins and chopsticks. Nom Wah charged a reasonable delivery fee and was very open to catering in Westchester County; they did change a 5% kitchen fee since they had to open their kitchen early in the morning to accommodate our event. (Most other restaurants we contacted would not cater from NYC to Westchester County.) All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our event - Nom Wah's catering was on point and we got tons of compliments! You should definitely use them for your next event!
Be the first to ReplyDuck buns are pretty good but overpriced.
Shrimp dumplings skins were slightly undercooked, but the shrimp filling is yummy. Overall it's a nice spot for quick & more modern dim sum near Chinatown. There are other noodle options too that look delicious.
Be the first to ReplyGot the soup dumplings and they were delish.
My friend got the noodles and they were way over cooked but the flavor was yummy.

This place was so good for the price! Try the tofu noodles, really spicy but one of my fav noodle dishes!
Be the first to ReplyVery casual, interesting space - small /old space.
Not structurally new, impressive or aesthetically pleasing considering the modern concept of self - ordering. Pork soup dumplings, steamed chicken and cabbage dumplings and Peking duck buns were excellent! The concept of ordering yourself via a kiosk/ipad, self-seating and waiting for food was efficient . Plastic glasses and utensils, dirty tables with a mop visible in the corner of the dining room was very disappointing. The dumplings were great -I brought home frozen dumplings. Not sure I will go back to eat there. Take out... likely.I'm between 3 and 4 stars but gave 4 stars because food was very good.
Be the first to ReplyLiterally a shame to the name of a beloved dim sum spot.
Took 45 minutes to make our order which they'd clearly lost and didn't even start. Gave us fake time updates and finally had to cancel and leave. Do not go here.
Be the first to ReplyYummy edamame dumplings.
They're different, hearty and very filling. I ordered them for delivery. They tasted just fine even as I had them at room temperature. I'm for sure coming back for more of these.

Come for the dumplings, stay for the sauces and (IMO) very cute and sweet service. The pork soup dumplings are made to order and worth the wait. I also loved the perfect crackle on the pan friend dumplings. Definitely get their sauces to go. Their peanut sauce is *just* the right amount of sweet

Tina's take: 10/10I first discovered this place at the food and wine festival back in October. Safe to say they stole my heart because their food is absolutely amazing. My boyfriend and I came to their place to check it out ourselves. They did not disappoint! The workers were welcoming and gave us a run down on all the food they have to offer. I believe the chicken siu mai was our favorite here and I even ordered seconds. The place is very clean and decorated inside. They have an assortment of sauces to choose from and endless choices to eat. I enjoyed eating here and I hope others get to come soon as well
Be the first to ReplyHate doing this but I don't even care anymore.
It's always a joy to receive 5 orders of dumplings with only 1quarter cup full of sauce. Oh but according to the clown on the phone their policy is they don't give extra sauce even when it's stated to do so in the instructions. ย How generous of them!! ย Make sure when you order you call and remind these chumps to put extra sauce in because they apparently don't read tickets. Save yourself the energy with this spot or just go to the one in Chinatown. What a joke

A great casual restaurant to meet up with a friend for some delicious food and some drinks! I tried the sloppy joe noodles and their pork soup dumplings. The sloppy joe noodles were really good and I was really glad we tried them! In my personal opinion, the soup dumplings were a little disappointing. A little expensive for 4 dumplings and all of them tore before we could even pick them up and eat them because they were all stuck together. I would def come here again and try something different!

My FAVORITE dumplings in NYC!The atmosphere here is a little more hip, with a smaller interior than their main Chinatown location however neither location compromises on quality.Their shrimp and snow pea leaf dumplings are the absolute best! Delicious crystal wrapper, ample filling, and overall so tasty! Unfortunately last time I checked they temporarily stopped making them. :( but hope that they restart soon! I used to buy them and freeze them and they would stay good for a while. I've gotten everyone in my family hooked on these and have even taken them back to Houston when I visit! I've also gone out of my way multiple times on my way home in Brooklyn to pick up on order.Other notable items - their shrimp shumai (I buy the frozen packs, perfect for when we're craving shumai at home!) and their noodles. The noodles are stir fried, not many vegetables but so good and comforting. Pricing here is also pretty reasonable. Overall, if you're specifically looking for a good shrimp dumpling, Nom Wah does NOT dissapoint.
Be the first to ReplyThe review is for delivery: great value and quick delivery.
Ordered the greens and it arrived in a full plate - the greens were hard to chew (not tender), but I appreciated that they were blanched (not drenched in oil). Still, I would probably skip these. The pork buns were impressive, with real bites of pork and caramelized onion. The filling was not too sweet. The chicken and cabbage pan fried dumplings were also pretty decent.

Small location with nice menu and excellent food! I would highly recommend. Great selection of dumplings and other dim sum items. Vegan options as well! Don't pass up this gem.

As a longtime lover of the original Nom Wah, I found this new location disappointing. The good? Cheap wine and beer and delicious Yuzu hard seltzer for sale. Shrimp and pork shumai were okay Besides that, the food was either lacking in flavor or off-putting in some way. Chinese greens were tough and fibrous and completely lacking seasoning. Cold. Scallion pancake. Greasy, bland, forgettable. Cold. The duck buns I was excited to order tasted like wet dog and I couldn't even finish mine. It was a rancid flavor that wasn't even redeemed with copious chili oil - which had almost no kick. Cold. Still hungry and not wanting to write them off, I gave the pork buns a try. Bland, overly sweet and - you guessed it - COLD. Do yourself a favor and walk the extra ten minutes to the original Doyers Street location. Where the food is tasty, hot and they actually bus your table.

This is a great place to get the same dim sum as the original location on Doyers without the long wait for a table. ย The menu is a little more limited to mainly dumplings/buns. ย The ha gao (shrimp dumplings) and shu mai were very good, and the pork buns were tasty- filled with more meat than other places. ย The best dumpling was the one with chives (and chicken), very flavorful. The sloppy Joe noodles were fun, with a little spice to them. ย We ordered from an iPad inside and walked around and got a text to my phone about 10 minutes that our order was ready. ย We ate outside at a table. ย Great option if you are worried about eating indoors.
Be the first to ReplyA good quick dumpling spot on your way to little Italy.
The dumpling are good but probably better served to journey down a few more streets to Chinatown
