Nice traditional Japanese Restaurant Style interior.
Feels like you are in Japan a bit. Sushi was fresh and excellent, and the chefs are in the top notch on the westside. Little noisy and busy during popular hours, and you may have to wait a bit, but its fun and delicious. Very professional. Try it!
Be the first to ReplyThis sushi place was wonderful.
The food was delicious. I order 3 rolls, chicken teriyaki for my son and a mixed tempura and it was all great. The rolls were just superb. The service was also great. I have a 3 year old and he wanted a lemonade so the server whispered to my husband if we would like it a little watered down, which we did and it was very thoughtful. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, and it just had a nice easy vibe. It was clean, not very loud but not too quiet. When you have a toddler, you never know how the nights going to go lol so it was nice that the restaurant and food were great.

Delicious and fresh sushi! I love getting sashimi or churashi - but the udon noodle soup is actually also really great. Sometimes it can get pretty busy, but service has always been great. I do think some of the tables are closer to each other than is ideal, but it still works.
Be the first to ReplySuch an amazing sushi spot!!! I'd definitely be back here.
The quality was delicious and the portions were big!!! Not bad pricing either. They don't take reservations and we only had to wait about 20 minutes so it wasn't too bad!! Cute spot. Thanks!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed with the food.
Salad didn't look fresh and dressing was blend. Tempura sauce didn't have much flavor. Chicken cutlet was very dry and overcooked. I don't recommend this place
Be the first to ReplySanta Monica / Pink Lady roll are absolutely to die for.
Do not pass them up . This is my favorite sushi place in LA
Be the first to ReplyWe have frequented this restaurant at least a dozen times.
We are always impressed with the quality of the food and the service from the staff. Unfortunately, our recent experience was terrible. We put our name down for our family of five, two adults and three kids. We were told the wait was 16 to 31 minutes. We waited patiently and checked in with the hostess, and she mentioned we were next. One hour and 20 minutes later we were still not seated. The hostess became extremely rude and condescending. She just kept saying that we are a party of 5. When we inquired how much more time it would take, she would not answer. She kept telling us that there are only four tables for a party of 5. Upon using the restroom I noticed her "tables of 5" were seated with parties of 2-4. There was no effort to remedy the situation, or provide accurate time estimates. We left hungry and disappointed, having wasted so much time.

I ordered food for take out and when i come for pick up i got in and my order was on the table, but that woman said me to wait outside i said i see my order, but she almost pushed me outside and i have to wait for about 15 minutes while she let in two couples and then gave me my PAID order that was ready long time ago. Food is ok but service is terrible. Never again

We were very impressed with the ambiance, service, and food at Noma. When you walk by, it's an unassuming restaurant from the street, because you can see what's going on inside. The mystery that awaits beyond the door will transport you to another time; the interior decor is full of quaint Japanese decor and wood finishes that give you a classic vibe, complemented with a light dose of modern jazz and instrumental covers that combines old and new world charm. The chefs are mostly Japanese and they take their role in serving you very seriously. The service was very professional; they never spoke to much or too little, just enough to be effective and allow you to continue your conversation without the niceties that most places have that tend to kill you with kindness. We had the bay scallop, fatty salmon, and tuna sushi which melted in your mouth. The rice was just perfect on all of the pieces, not overly moist, yet firm and unadulterated. The scallops were sweet and fragrant, the salmon tasted better than anything I've had, and the tuna did not taste spongy like many others I've tried. The baked crab roll did not look like much, but all the flavors and real non-imitation crab was something very unique and worth a try. The kumamoto oysters were above average, but topped with house sauce and garnish that added more texture and flavor profile. Most of all the oysters were not ice cold, which I feel masks unsavory flavors at lower end restaurants. Lastly the eel avocado and and salmon avocado rolls seem basic, but this is where they prove how good they are. If they can make something basic into something extravagant, you know they are good. We've had eel avocado and salmon avocado rolls in the past, but this was among the better renditions. In short, try this place out and walk it off on the way to downtown and the pier. You won't be disappointed.

This was the worst experience I have had waiting for a table. I was there with my family and the wait said 16-31 minutes and we ended up at an hour and twenty minutes. I will never go back here again. We left without being seated and with hungry kids to feed.

0 stars for their ridiculous House Rules! Also be prepared and bring your own sriracha bottle because no matter what size party you have, you're only limited to 1 tiny tray of it. The service was so bad, I forgot we came for a bday dinner. It all started when we told them we had 1 extra person coming and this was barely during our appetizers. When my fiance showed up, they told us we had to close our bill, cancel the rest of our order and wait outside as we were still eating. Then they said he couldn't sit with us, even though there was room for him. When asked how much longer for the new larger table, they said 2 mins. And insisted we go outside. Knowing we were still eating and had more food coming. After all that, the manager said they can add a chair for my fiance, I was like are you F ###### kidding me! At that time, it was 2 mins away from our new table! This tall male blonde waiter gave us the hardest time and I requested he not be our server but he still was!! You mean to tell me we couldn't continue eating inside while we saw our new table ready!! And they couldn't have us continue eating and then switch to the new table!! IT WAS ALL ABSURD!! I couldn't believe it!! I was losing it!! I had never experienced the worst service in life! It's a a shame because I did enjoy the food but I will never go back!!!

One block from our Airbnb, we opted to walk down and try this place. So glad we did!! We loved our dinner! My son ordered a mango and Avocado salad - said it was fabulous. I had the Mushroom miso soup - very flavorful and tasty! We had a couple of specialty rolls, too. Fantastic little place and we would return when in Santa Monica. They seemed busy and I would assume so with regulars. It's small, but they are efficient and the service was quick.

I have been a long time customer but after tonight with horrible service and the kitchen in not in sink with the sushi chefs. Then when telling the manager how bad the evening was she could care less and not paying attention to what our issues was. So many other great sushi choices around no reason to waste your money here. I think the management has change and with the post COVID world they don't care anymore. The restaurant interior was decent, slightly dirty and old.
Be the first to ReplySTAY AWAY! Anti Semitic Psycho.
The hostess is the rudest person in the restaurant business. She made an Anti Semitic remark when I stated how rude she was and claims she is the owner. Read the other reviews that talk about her behavior. You will hopefully stay away. This place should not exist.

Very nice ambiance and food was so fresh and delicious! Great service too! The Sauvignon Blanc is a must try along with their Uni and Toro Sushi!
Be the first to ReplyI'm a harsh sushi critic and the Santa Monica roll was good.
The bento boxes (especially the shrimp tempura) look great too. The service was A+!

Awesome food and service! I will recommend it and will go back! We were party of six and we had to wait for 45 minutes but it was worthy because of the food and service.
Be the first to ReplyWent there for lunch on a Thursday.
There was no line and almost every table was empty. We had a party of five but were waiting on 2 people to find parking. We were told they would not seat us and we had to wait outside till our full party arrived. We only had an hour for lunch so we asked is we could just be seated and order so we don't run out of time. We were told no. There was no manager for us to speak with. We asked if we could just do a party of 4 since one of the others had arrived and they said that if the 5th person arrived they would not allow them to join our table. I totally understand this policy for when a restaurant is busy but they were EMPTY! Mia was very rude stating that the policy was strict and we had to wait outside. Mind you, I am also walking with a cane due to a disability and there were no accommodations even offered for this. Mia then was our waitress and took forever to take our order, never came to check if our food was okay and we had to get her attention to get boxes and the check. Since it was taking so long to order, my coworker told me what she wanted and had time to go outside and get a delivery from someone dropping off something to her and she came back and said "You still haven't ordered?" The other staff that helped us get waters and our food (which would have been faster had they seated us before it got crowed) were fine. We had ordered edamame and had to ask the guy who brought us water where it was. I heard him tell Mia we were waiting on edamame since she had not even come to see if the food had arrived. They added a 18% gratuity for a large group (maybe they count 5 as large) and I don't think this is really fair for the poor service we got from Mia. I will still return to NOMA but I will request any other server than Mia. I know there need to be policies for the service industry but they should be flexible when the restaurant is empty or you have a customer with a disability. Only giving it the extra star for the food. Otherwise it would have been a 1.
Be the first to ReplyActually great sushi but the most stupid thing you can do
Actually great sushi but the most stupid thing you can do is having a frequent customer like me that comes in twice a week having to go back and wait outside for no reason when the bar is empty. Robotic nonsense house rule
Be the first to ReplyGood food terrible service.
We were not allowed in the restaurant and made to wait in the rain until the whole party arrived. The establishment was not even at 1/2 capacity at the time so it was a very poor management decision. No explanation as to why, no apologies no offer of umbrellas or a shelter. I have been to Noma many time throughout the years but after the treatment today this was my last time.
