We had unexpectedly delicious dinner at the bar at NOPI.
The bartender was really chatty and seemed to deight in his work. My husband had a "charcoal martini" was was odd but good, or so he said. The food was inventive. The burrata appetizer was excellent as was the black key lime tart. I especially loved the homemade bread. Great spot, definitely recommend!

At the outset you are informed that you have the table for 2 hours, although we were rushed from the moment we got to the table. I didn't even have my jacket off before the server asked if we wanted to order drinks. I said that I didn't have a chance to look at the menu so we needed a couple of minutes. Literally 2 minutes later the server reappeared asking for our drink order. Trying to subtly slow things down, I explained that we were going to order our drinks and some snacks and look through the rest of the menu. Before our drinks arrived we were asked what else we wanted to order. Of course, the drinks, appetizers, and first part of the main meal all arrived at the same time. At this point, I said that they need to slow things way down-- but by that point we had maybe 80% of our order on the table and we hadn't even been in there for 25 minutes. Easily some of the worst service I've had anywhere at this price point. To NOPI's credit, the food was good but it was a shame we couldn't really enjoy it.
Be the first to ReplyUnfortunately they must have been having a bad night.
Upon seating us we were told we had our table For 2 hours. When our drinks game out at 20 minutes and our first of 3 appetizers at 40 minutes I was thinking, there's no way we are going to complete 2 more appetizers a main and dessert in the next 1.2 hrs. Sure enough the main course came out while all the appetizers were on the table (small table for 2) and there was no room so our server took the fish back and re delivered it later cold and soggy. They brought a fresh one but the manager came over to tell us she would add 15 minutes to the table. I've eaten at some pretty high end places in New York City, San Francisco and Chicago. I've never felt like I had a clock ticking at my table anywhere else. I decided that since we were ordering g dessert I'd ignore the time table. We went over the 2 hours because the bill came with my fish main course on the bill twice. Fish was over salted and the other main that was the eggplant casserole was over salted as well. Sad experience since we were excited to eat a Ottolenghi's famed restaurant. I have his cookbooks and will stick to cooking his dishes at home.
Be the first to ReplyMy dining companion and I had a late dinner here on a trip
My dining companion and I had a late dinner here on a trip to London first week in July and, while a few of the dishes were quite yummy, NOPI is going to be a NOPE next trip. Overall, the experience was disappointing. Too bad as we're big Ottolenghi fans. The main problem was the service. While not rude, it was not particularly friendly and was also extremely disorganized. My companion and I definitely felt like we were falling between the cracks. We arrived on time for our 9:15 PM reservation. Our table was not ready which was, in itself, not a big deal. We were given menus and directed over to the bar to wait, next to a little ledge where there was a tiny saucer with about 3-4 nuts sitting in it which looked to have belonged to a previous party. No one took the saucer away so we had to stare at it while we waited. A pleasant enough server asked if we wanted drinks (we didn't). We continued to wait and, not long after, another server who seemed like he might be a manager (he was wearing light blue while the other servers wore black) asked if we wanted drinks - we declined again (but were starting to feel a bit "upsold") and he told us our table would be ready soon. When we were seated - about 7 minutes later - a third (male) server escorted us to our table, carrying over that little saucer of nuts, put it on the table next to us and scurried away to fetch us water. We had to wait ANOTHER five minutes before he returned with the water and asked us for a third time if we wanted drinks. Then - and this was weird - we told him that the nuts he had put on the table weren't ours and that we didn't want those added onto our bill and also just didn't want them on our table. He seemed to not understand us, assuring us they were complimentary and for at the bar while we were waiting. We corrected him, reiterating that the nuts had not belonged to us in the first place so we did not particularly want leftover nuts belonging to a previous and unknown party sitting on our table while ate. This did raise the question though of why we had never been given our OWN nuts while we waited - or was this because we didn't order a drink? He went over the menu with us, informing us that we should order at least 4 to 6 dishes if there were two of us. He left again. We'd already decided on 5 and then were planning for a dessert. He came back, after another wait. We ordered, he went away. After another minute or so, the "manager in light blue" came up to our table to take our order (AGAIN!), recommending we order between 6-8 dishes! Felt like more upselling and also gave us the message that the staff seemed really unorganized. Why didn't he not know that the other server had already taken our order? We told him we'd already ordered and he went away. The first 3 dishes came in fairly decent time. We finished and, after a while, another (female) server, not particularly friendly and a bit impatient, asked us if we were done and whisked away the empty dishes. Then we had a wait for a while before our next two dishes (cod and potatoes) arrived. They arrived. It was plenty of food. My companion and I were stuffed from the five dishes and were really glad we had not ordered either 6 or 8 as recommended. FOOD: For our first three dishes, we we got corn fritters, char-siu cauliflower and buratta. All were very tasty, although none were revelatory - and I expect revelatory from $$$ Ottolenghi. They also might have provided a little bit of bread along with the buratta, but no - need to pay extra for that! The cod was really good and the potatoes were hot and crispy, if a bit oily and not super flavorful. We were fairly, but not ecstatically, happy with the food and agree with other reviewers that it was a bit overpriced. AMBIENCE: While we are used to loud restaurants, it was unusually loud in NOPI that evening. Seemed like there was live music playing either next door or above us.
Be the first to ReplyNopi is absolutely my favorite place to eat in London.
I always have a good time when I come here, usually bringing a friend or some family members. The service is top class and the food rotates out rather frequently so you can always get something new. They will recommend 2 to 3 dishes per person, and I think this is fair: we got six between the two of us, and We were appropriately full by the end of the meal, without feeling stuffed. As I'm sure has been mentioned elsewhere, there are individual tables and bar, seating upstairs, with a communal table downstairs that's common at a lot of Ottolenghi's restaurants. If you only have a few days in London, I highly recommend making this one of your stops.

My family and I are huge ottolenghi fans - we love all the cook books! We were so looking forward to nopi and it exceeded expectations. We're vegetarian, and the vegetables were divine. The seasonings were delightful. And don't get me started about the key lime pudding - OH MY GOD I could eat it forever. Overall loved it here!
Be the first to ReplyWe met our pals here for dinner a couple nights ago.
At the end of the day, we had a good meal at Nopi, but everything was absurdly overpriced (yes, taking into account London/the pound). We had far better meals here for less money and better value on our trip. For starters, the hugo cocktail was so refreshing with a perfect hint of sweetness, but you took three sips and then it was done because of all the ice in the glass. For 13 pounds: why? Not on par with the rest of the cocktail pricing in the city! The bread course was delicious, and we especially enjoyed the spiced kalamata olive oil that it was served with. The burrata was also good, as was the aubergine starter that was your typical Ottolenghi bite: bursting with different flavors that all get starring roles. The beets and labneh were lovely, but our favorite veg was the char sui cauliflower, which were magically fried in a way that we had never experience before: so crisp and tasty! For mains, we had the sea bass and lamb. The lamb was priced over 40 quid and you only got a handful of pieces that were overly fatty and not very well-cooked. The sea bass was fine, but nothing as impressive as the veggie apps. None of the desserts seemed that appealing, so we all settled on an apple sorbet that had some sort of alcohol with it. It was surprisingly effervescent and ended up being a nice finisher. Our server was very sweet, but she spoke very quickly and at times didn't seem as knowledgable about the menu when we had a couple questions. The bill ended up being over $300, which was shocking because we didn't feel like we had that much food amongst the five of us, so that was a sobering and souring final note to end on. One of us follows Ottolenghi on IG, and what seems clear since Jerusalem came out over a decade ago is that he has grown an empire that would be impossible for him to oversee intimately. Nothing tasted "homey" and we're bummed that we missed out on our Notting Hill bakery experience as well. Maybe we'll try Rovi if we're ever in London again, but we wanted more from a fellow Israeli, and Nopi just did not deliver.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is tasty and has fun variations on dishes.
I feel it's a bit pricey for what the dishes are. However they are very unique if you haven't had any ottolenghi restaurants. If you have, well it's a bit boring as it's a lot of the similar dishes reimagined.

Nopi is a delight for vegetarians that also puts up with carnivores. Chef Ottolenghi's vegetarian dishes all surprised and impressed - I don't think I'll ever look at turnips the same way. Dishes are served tapas style with exception of 3 entrees for those that insist on a more traditional dining format. As much as we loved the veg dishes the meat ones were just ok. Lamb is always a favorite and the entree of it was good but unlike his veg dishes was not inspiring. Eggplant dish was a fav. Ambiance is a bit bland but functional in all white. Upstairs is standard pleasant seating and downstairs a large communal dinning experience ideal for groups or making new friends. You can see in to the kitchen if dinning downstairs. We enjoyed Nopi so much that we ate here two nights in a row with different guests. The waiting area is a bit tight near a small bar. Excellent drinks but I wouldn't suggest arriving early. The staff/service was exceptional. As with most London restaurants Nopi can be pricey especially with needing to order several dishes to make a meal. Only regret was not picking up one of Ottolenghi's signed cookbooks.
Be the first to ReplyFor my graduation dinner, we got reservations at NOPI.
I love Ottolenghi and his restaurants and the meal was very good but I do think his original restaurant was a touch superior than NOPI. As usual, the vegetable dishes were fantastic and we enjoyed the entire meal but no one dish was particularly memorable.. I did have a fantastic Georgian wine that I hope I can find a bottle of over here in the US..
Be the first to ReplyI loved NOPI when I went before the pandemic.
Haven't been back since but looking forward to it one day.

We were excited to get a reservation at Nopi (a Michelin one-star restaurant) for my birthday. However, most of the dishes were disappointing. They were beautifully plated but tasted bland without the Mediterranean flavors that we were excited for. The service was slow, and the staff was inattentive and not as top notch as one would expect for a high end place like Nopi. The cocktails were mediocre. Overall, not the pleasant experience that we imagined.

I became obsessed with chef-owner Yotam Ottolenghi after getting his cookbook, and having a meal at this restaurateur's place was incredible. We started out with a couple of delicious appetizers:- Roasted carrot, cardamom labneh, and pistachio. This was spectacular, and the perfect bite included the sweetness from the carrots, the spice of the cardamom, and the tang of the labneh. Our main courses:- Grilled lamb cutlet, almond coconut curry, gooseberry & jalapeno It was hard not to be polite and pick up the bone of this succulent lamb and use my hands like a cavewoman and eat it. - Roasted sea bass, gochujang caponata, apple, radish, green peppercorn This citrus and tangy combination with purely delicious fish was a wonderful combination.- Our dessert was pannacota and passionfruit. It was the right mix of flavors and was so sweet and delicious. The waitstaff was also incredible, they made sure to take out the fresh coriander (cilantro) for our table. I would recommend coming here on a special occasion and enjoy this delicious Israelian cuisine.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing dining experience.
Great food and drinks and plenty of veggie options. We enjoyed our everything that we ordered but highly recommend the cheese fritters app and the lemongrass caipirinha cocktail.

One of our favorite meals in London - we liked every dish! The standouts were the miso glazed hake, valdeon cheesecake with pickled beetroot and thyme honey, and parmesan truffle polenta fries for rich, unique flavors.Dined: August 21, 2021

Tried to cancel a reservation for five the morning ahead of our afternoon reservation but they are strict with their 24hr £25/person charge even though I am positive they filled the spot considering London is PACKED. Not cool.

Love Nopi! Sat upstairs, tried many shared plates and everything was delicious! Ambience and staff were excellent too! Thank you! :) Can't wait to go back!
Be the first to ReplyLovely food and service.
Unique flavours that intrigue and challenge the palate. Tried a few items of the small plates menu and all were delicious. Good drinks selection as well.
Be the first to ReplyThis is my second time at NOPI and I really was not
This is my second time at NOPI and I really was not impressed this time. All the starters were cold and the chickpea omelette fell pretty flat. The sides were so small it felt stingy, especially the kale with paneer. Felt embarrassing to bring that dish out. The best part of our meal was probably the desserts, but I'm excited more for the savory experience. The service was delightful, but we walked out just feeling like we dropped a lot of money and were not nearly satiated. Probably not coming back after this experience.
Be the first to Reply10/10 recommend!Good cocktails to have as an aperitif.
The NOPI Negroni was very good. The starters are great for sharing with really creative and delicious versions of some classic Greek/Mediterranean dishes. The offers dedicated gluten free menu and The main dishes were the absolute highlight. The grilled sea bass came with red curry paste, cucumber sambal and pineapple - a very unique Thai twist that worked out brilliantly. For dessert I had a key lime pie which I can definitely recommend too! - the added perk: all of my dishes were gluten free and they had provided a gluten free menu - just be aware that they make everything in an open kitchen. The waitress said that they try very hard to be careful but obviously can't guarantee anything.

Fantastic service and very accommodating to allergies! Beautiful decor inside and stylish, intimate ambiance.
Be the first to ReplyOkay,, Ottolenghi is a genius.
Last night I ate solo at NOPI (business trip). Had the grilled cabbage, the softshell crab, the tomato with garlic sauce and some amazing chestnut meringue dessert. This food is so good that introverts must speak to one another at the bar. The cabbage was a revelation! I love Ottollenghi's cookbooks... but the restaurant is the next level entirely. Just go
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant was recommended by my brother-in-law.
He owns the chef's cookbook and the recipes are incredible! So we had to try it out. Since it was close to our hotel we figured it would be a nice breakfast stop before we visited the outskirts of the city. The restaurant itself is beautiful but from the outside it is easy to miss! So be on the lookout. As soon as we entered we were greeted by the hostess who offered to store our coats, yes, please! For breakfast I ordered the Shakshuka and my husband ordered a breakfast dish with pita, fried cheese, fried egg and salad. I tried the cheese and it was delicious! The Shakshuka was great. The bread it came with was perfect for the dish. At first I thought the portion seemed small but it ended up being super filling. I couldn't even finish my meal!I would love to come back here again if we are ever in the area.
Be the first to ReplyMy fiancée booked us in for lunch because we had to go to
My fiancée booked us in for lunch because we had to go to at least one Ottolenghi restaurant while we are in London. It did not disappoint. We started with the bread board - a spicy corn bread type, and sour dough for the spice averse bookend this, but the star was the eggplant spread. We then went over to shared dishes - my favorite was the cauliflower and green bean fritters; I also tried their beets (ground up with goat cheese), and the sirloin (which, surprisingly, had a really good salad accompanying)For dessert, they make an incredible hot chocolate. The poached pears and the hazelnut meringue got high marks. The bathrooms were also a surprise. It's rare that restrooms get much thought, but these ones did. They are worth a visit.
Be the first to ReplyWhat an amazing culinary experience.
Simple ingredients make amazing tasty food. The aubergine and the chickpeas dishes are my favorites.
