Noreetuh is a cute Hawaiian restaurant in the East Village
Noreetuh is a cute Hawaiian restaurant in the East Village that is vegan-friendly! I love that they use Omni pork as a pork substitute to offer some awesome vegan dishes. They can make their "spam" musubi vegan which is AMAZING. Omni pork is delicious and the spicy spam with vegan mayo (YES vegan mayo) and jalapeno was a great combination. Also tried the Omni pork potstickers- another hit which was perfectly pan fried & tasted great!. Lastly tried the black bean chow noodles which were super tasty. The black bean sauce is delicious and the noodles have a great texture- perfectly al dente. I believe it is house made. The noodles were my favorite dish! I hope Noreetuh continues to have many more vegan options. Maybe consider vegan salmon so they can make vegan poke :) Would love a nice dessert option as well. They also have a bar and variety of cocktails. Service was very friendly and speedy! Had a tiny snafu with one of the dishes that was quickly resolved with no hesitation. Reservations are recommended at peak times. Would return as not many restaurants offer Omni pork!

We got a last minute reservation here, had never heard of it before. The food was delicious! And they have a great, extensive wine list as well. Highly recommend and will definitely go back soon!

Fast and courteous service. Will definitely return. .......

I came here for restaurant week and would recommend having a reservation for groups. I got the Berkshire pork cutlet, Mochiko Chicken Loco Moco, and the pineapple upside down cake. The food was tasty and good quality but if I could go back I would have chosen a lighter first course. Both the pork and chicken were fried so I wish I chose a different combo of courses that wasn't so heavy. The pineapple upside down cake was delicious but they don't specify if you order it for one person, there's an $8 surcharge. The menu states it's for 2 people but doesn't disclose the additional charge even though 2 other menu items state a supplemental charge. Someone in my group is vegetarian and they didn't have a variety of options to choose from. However, the quality and taste of those courses were good. I also tried the Chocolate huapia sundae, guava cake, and bruleed Hawaiian pineapple. I didn't prefer the sundae because of how it was drowning in whipped cream and how salty the crackers were. The guava cake was very flavorful and sweet. The pineapple was delicious but it didn't stand out.Overall the food was good quality and filling but not mind blowing enough to come back again.
Be the first to ReplyVery cozy atmosphere and server very friendly.
Had the restaurant week special and it was awesome. Especially enjoyed the tuna poke appetizer and the pineapple upside down dessert. The wine paring was good as well. Thanks to my daughter for her recommendations.

I ordered take out from here and the experience was very smooth. The name, Noreetuh, is the Korean word for playground, which is interesting only because it's a Hawaiian place. So don't come here expecting Korean food!I got 2 musubis: the spicy tuna and the galbi. They were both very good and warm. I think the price is reasonable. It's as if you got a sushi roll but it's in a musubi form. For the entree, I got the grilled chicken teriyaki bowl which was smaller than I expected for 17 dollars but it was very delicious! I brought my leftovers (the musubis really filled me) to work the next day and as the food was getting microwaved, the delicious aroma brought in a lot of attention!
Be the first to Replycame with a few friends for restaurant week sunday brunch
came with a few friends for restaurant week sunday brunch -- great service, solid food (great desserts) a bit pricey for what it is though imo. restaurant week deal is 3 course (app, entree, dessert) for $45 (came out to ~$56 with tax and tip).app: tuna poke bowl was solid (8/10)! pretty good fish quality and the seaweed tasted great too. nothing like the poke in hawaii but not bad for sureentree: garlic shrimp bowl was also solid (7.5/10) a bit small portion but the rice was super fluffy and the shrimp was well-seasoned. tried my friend's mochiko chicken loco moco and that was really good!! i honestly liked it more (8.5/10)dessert: i would rank as pineapple upside down cake (9/10), guava cake (8.5/10), haupia pie (8/10).overall solid food but nothing mind blowing, portions were a bit small and prices were a bit high. service was very nice though and the interior is very cute!

Came here based on recs from a friend and was happy I tried this place!Turns out it happened to be restaurant week when I came so I was thrilled to be able to try their menu. Came with a friend so was able to try a good amount of the food here. For the appetizers, we got the pork katsu and the tuna belly. The pork katsu was quite big and cooked well. Pretty tasty. The tuna belly was well cooked, soft and tender, but to be honest wasn't my favorite dish. Tasted a bit like chicken, but in this context wasn't the best combination because this would essentially equate to eating a plate of sliced grilled chicken. Maybe just not my thing! Next, we had the garlic shrimp bowl which I had been recommended by others. It hit the spot - the rice was cooked well (not mushy but not too hard either, nice and airy), the garlicky and buttery flavor profile of the dish permeated throughout the entire bowl, and the shrimp was large, numerous, and tender! Then came the wagyu steak. Delicious! So tender. Perfectly cooked. But then came the dish that changed the whole meal. The upside down pineapple cake was probably one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. Freshly baked (we waited for a bit after our entrees for it but so so so worth it), warm, sweet, crunchy edges, warm pineapple, delicious ice cream. We were so full after the entrees but managed to devour the cake immediately. Service was friendly and very attentive. We tried a few of the lychee cocktails which were sweet and tasty as well. Come here for the pineapple cake!! It's amazing.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a meal.
We started off with some soju gimlets and a lychee highball, I definitely preferred the latter since I have an affinity for sweets. Go for the soju gimlet if you like something more puckery. The musubi was everything I dreamed it would, and then more. We got the spam and the braised short rib -- while both were great, the latter knocked the former out of the park. The garlic shrimp bowl was great as well -- nice flavor combo, though nothing too memorable. The brûléed pineapple, however, is something I will never forget. You must get it. And don't forget to ask your server to take a photo of your table on a Polaroid, so you can hang up your photo on the wall!

Guess I had higher expectations for this place but I feel like the food was just okay for how expensive it was and how small the portions were. The musubis were good but $6 for a regular spam one? I can't really justify that. The fried rice was average and after several dishes and still not feeling full, we got the friend chicken as well, which maybe should have gone first. The restaurant itself is a little small and the tables are close together, so be prepared to possibly hear some of your neighbor's conversations.
Be the first to ReplyHad a really great experience here for my friend's birthday.
They even printed happy birthday on the menu. The cocktails were all really great and doesn't taste strong which I prefer. We got two musubi platters to share amongst 5 people and it was pretty filling that we couldn't finish the rest of the food. My favorites would be the japanese scallop and spicy salmon tartare. The pork jowl musubi was too fatty for my liking. The mochiko fried chicken was very juicy but has a burnt taste to it.
Be the first to ReplyEnjoyed every dish we ordered.
I wanted to try every masubi flavor! The pork belly skewers were fatty and delicious. The Squid skewers were okay. The mentaiko tagliatelle was delicious and flavorful, although slightly small portion for a main course. The chicken loco moco was interesting to eat - the fried chicken was perfectly crisped and seasoned.

My boyfriend and I came here for Restaurant Week and woah, highly recommend!!! We'd come back even without the Restaurant Week promo/prices. The poke appetizer was so so so fresh, I was amazed. The food here is delicious, and the wait staff is really kind and attentive. We didn't have a reservation but showed up right when they opened, and we were able to snag a table! (although we had to be out by a certain time before the next party showed up, which was understandable)

We got musubi (spicy spam, spicy salmon, jowl, and yellowtail), the katsu sando, and loco moco. All three were solid choices. My favorite musubi was the spicy salmon and yellowtail. Everything was flavorful and a taste you don't find at other restaurants. The waitresses were all so nice and it was an enjoyable experience.

5 starsI was really looking forward to trying this place, and I was not disappointed. We were greeted right away and seated immediately ( with a reservation). The server was very pleasant and attentive. The decor is kinda low key Polynesian. We ordered the assorted pickles for a start. Omg, yes! These change frequently, but we had fennel, mango, and golden beets. Craving them a day later. You must order a musubi platter. I could eat these every day. We had pork jowl, galbi, unagi, scallop. The rice is perfect and each filling was delicious. Dinner was the Chicken Loco Moko and Smoked Fish Tortellini. Both were out of sight. The chicken was juicy and so crispy and flavorful. The gravy with the rice and egg was homey and delicious. The Mac salad was great but I wish it wasn't hidden under the chicken. It got a little lost. The tortellini was top notch. Really unique. If you like the strong flavors of smoked fish, this is for you. And the wasabi cream sauce was perfect. Onto dessert...sadly they were out of bread pudding. We shared the brûlée pineapple and the Hawaiian sundae. The pineapple was crazy good, with the lime juice really popping. The sundae was just ok. The ice cream was good and the salt was tasty, but it was missing something. And the weird black squares were really bland. Also, the coffee was oddly terrible. This was a really good meal. I would definitely return.
Be the first to ReplyThis was a find by my best friend, and whew.
So glad she made a reservation! The place is tiny, so definitely make a reservation ahead of time as it seemed to get pretty crowded by the time we left, and this was on a random Wednesday night. We had a TON of food, we got a platter of musubi, and the scallop was my personal favorite. The truffle wontons were absolutely standout, and they sent us a pork appetizer that had some standout flavors! We did some wine, and I also tried a lava cocktail, which was pretty good, especially considering how much I love spice. The uni pasta was utterly amazing, and I would've licked the bowl if that had been appropriate. Service was stellar, and staff was super friendly and knowledgeable about menu and plates. Highly recommended and will definitely be back!

We came for restaurant week and did the prix fixe with wine pairing. We had a lovely meal with a menu celebrating fresh Hawaiian fare. The poke was well seasoned, vibrant and delicious. For main I had the chicken loco moco, which had a wonderful crunch. I loved the gravy and runny yolk to make the perfect bite. I thought the pasta salad was a bit too heavy handed on the lemon but I'm not sure if that's just how it is supposed to be. I'm going to be honest the dessert absolutely stole the show. The pineapple upside down cake was outrageous-- absolutely stunning fresh pineapple flavor. The staff was very attentive and did a great job recommending wine pairings!

Went here for my pal's birthday and the food was incredible! Service was quick as well and the hospitality was exceptional. I recommended trying the 1/2 fried chicken, Brussels sprouts, and the Loco chicken dish. Overall

Amazing lunch spot to enjoy Hawaiian cuisine, and a kickass chicken sando too.Food: 5Service: 4Ambience: 5Value: 5We checked out Noreetuh a few months back for a group lunch, and definitely were not disappointed. Tucked into East Village, the restaurant brings amazing cooking with great value for a meal. The signature dish to get is the musubi (we tried spam, pork jowl, galbi, yellowtail, salmon tartare among others in the platter), which is rice with the filling wrapped in seaweed. I'd definitely recommend the spam and yellowtail as my favorites; the pork was good as well, while the galbi fell slightly short of expectations. If you're coming with a group, you should definitely get the platters to share and try more.In addition, we ordered a few apps / sides - I got myself a chicken katsu sando, which sadly is not on their menu right now, but that was one of the best katsu sandwiches I've had - the chicken was juicy and flavorful, the sauce and garnishes were well balanced, and even the bun was delicious...plus, it was (I think) $12-15 or so, and I could've been very satisfied just eating that for the meal.As a heads-up, sometimes the musubi can take a while to come out, but it's worth the wait - and you can take a polaroid to put on the wall during that time! (Look for ours when you're there)
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food all around, I was highly impressed by them.
The garlic shrimp bowl was good and they weren't cheap with the shrimp. The tuna poke bowl is perhaps the best poke I've ever had in nyc. The upside down pineapple cake is so flavorful, the bok choy was delicious, the dumplings as well, I just loved everything we had! The peach sangria is a must, but the coconut one (as pretty as it is with its purple color) isn't as good. Definitely come here and try them out!
Be the first to ReplyAfter such an amazing experience at my last restaurant week
After such an amazing experience at my last restaurant week here, I had to come back for another round. I managed to catch the tail end of restaurant week and ended up booking this spot for my friend's bday dinner . Before I get into the food, I have to give a shout out to the service which is just absolutely amazing. We had menus printed with Happy Birthday on top which was a nice touch. Our waitress was also so sweet. We had brought cupcakes and tried to give them to her but the birthday girl arrived at the same time and she was great about keeping it under wraps and not spoiling the surprise. She was also just so helpful with any questions or issues. I had also placed a very last minute order for bread pudding right when the kitchen was closing and they still made an exception and brought one out for us. I wish I could give a bonus star for the service but the food already gets a 5/5 for me. 2 of the guests at the table had been to Hawaii (3 people in total including me) and we all agreed that this was the best Hawaiian meal we've had. As for the food we got the following items:1) Musubi Platter: This come with a choice of 4 flavors but we added 2 more. They come cut into 3 pieces but they could be cut into 4 pieces if that suits your group better. We got the following varieties:-Spicy Tuna tartare w/ shiso: Not too spicy and actually very mild. Not my favorite of the bunch but still good. There just wasn't really anything to give it the extra pop it needed. The shiso was close but still fairly mild. (4/5)-Scallop w/ nori mayo and lemon: My favorite and partially cause it was essentially scallop nigiri. The scallop is so sweet and the pop from the lemon along with the additional savoriness from the nori mayo just really set it apart for me. (4.75/5)-Pork jowl w/ scallion ginger puree: Another favorite of mine. The fat seeps into the fat and the scallion ginger puree helps cut through it nicely (4.5/5)-Katsuobushi w/ tsunemono: I enjoyed this but not quite as much as the rest and I can't say why. It was balanced and flavorful but I think it needed more body especially compared to the rest of the meatier options.-Galbi w/ Kimchi: Didn't get to try this one-Unagi: Or this one.... but friends enjoyed both of the above!2) Pork Belly w/ Mustard, Kimchi, Turnips: Another appetizer we ordered. It comes with about 6-7 slices of pork belly so it's good for sharing. The mustard flavor isn't too strong but the seeds add a nice texture. The turnip had a nice firm bite and gave a nice textural contrast to the pork while the kimchi gave the whole dish some acidity. (4.25/5)3) Truffle wontons w/ ham hock, pickled mushroom, shaved black truffle: A plate full of truffles is just such a beautiful thing and honestly for the price this was quite worth it for the amount of truffles. The ham hock added that meaty flavor and bite but didn't overwhelm the truffle's flavor. While I love mushrooms and pickled items I felt like these were just a bit too overbrined cause even one mushroom just coated my whole mouth wiping everything else out (4.25/5)4) Mac Salad: Honestly my fave mac salad comes from your local cheap Hawaiian bbq spot. This one is closer to the authentic stuff with a bit of sweetness and apple cider vinegar flavor (4/5)5) Bigeye Tuna poke w/ macadamia nuts and pickled jalapeno: My appetizer from the restaurant week menu. Once again the tuna was very fresh and the add ons of macadamia and pickled jalapeno gave it pops of flavor and texture. But the poke itself was more subtle and just a bit underdressed (but also salty) compared to my last visit. Still delicious though (4.25/5)6) Uni Cavatelli w/ Shrimp and Daikon: My entree from restaurant week. Compared to my friends who went for the meat dishes, this is quite small but it is flavor packed and filling. I actually wasn't sure how I felt about the first bite. It reminded me of the mac salad in terms of that sweet tanginess but it had little meaty. It has a rich yolky tasting sauce that I enjoyed. The uni was fairly neutral to sweet in flavor with a bit of firmness (4.5/5)7) Mochiko Chicken Loco Moco: Another 2 friend's restaurant week entree. If you're looking for bang for your buck at restaurant week this is the one to get. Since they can't make the meat dishes smaller you end up getting the regular portion size and it is substantial. I didn't try it but both my friend's loved it.8) King's Hawaiian Bread Pudding: Another winner from my last visit (10/5)9) Pineapple Upside Down Cake: Didn't get to try this one last time since they ran out. I think I prefer the bread pudding but the warm pineapple is definitely a treat. Especially against the cake as it soaks in the ice cream (4.5/5)Once again, another great meal at Noreetuh. Every item was well above average to spectacular. I'm sad I didn't see some old favorites from my last visit on here but I really enjoyed all the new items I got to try. I will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyMy girlfriend made reservations for brunch here last
My girlfriend made reservations for brunch here last Saturday, to deviate from the norm. Never ate at a Hawaiian restaurant, but NYC restaurant week seemed like the perfect opportunity to explore. We tried the musubi, which are little sandwiches wrapped in seaweed, resembling Japanese Nori. We tried the short rib, scallop, spicy tuna and traditional Spam musubi. They were all amazing but the scallop was my favorite due to the tenderness of the scallop and little dab of lemon flavored sauce which paired perfectly. For our entrees I ordered chicken moco loco (fried chicken, rice, pasta salad and fried egg, smothered with gravy) and my gf ordered sea urchin cavatelli pasta. Both were amazing but the cavatelli not only tasted amazing, the presentation was beautiful. For dessert, we got the Hawaiian bread pudding which came with pineapple icecream and a cute little fork. For my first taste of Hawaiian cuisine in NYC, this was an amazing experience. Also, the restaurant is decorated with Polaroid shots of their patrons over the years, and my gf and I got to put up our own pic to celebrate the occasion.

Great Hawaiian spot! Came here on a weekday for restaurant week and had a great meal with a friend. Started off with the Pork Jowl musubi, which was pretty decent. For my first course I got the Big-Eye Tuna Poke, which was great. The tuna was divineee. My friend had the Berkshire Pork Cutlet, which I got to try a bite of and it was pretty tasty. My second course was the Mochiko Chicken Loco Moco. So good! Lot going on here with the chicken, egg, mac salad, gravy, and rice but it all goes really well together. My friend ordered the Mentaiko Tagliatelle, which I tried a bite of. Really tasty seafood pasta dish. Finally, for dessert we shared the Pineapple Upside-Down Cake. This was the only thing on restaurant week menu that isn't on their regular menu, which is such a shame cause it was amazing! Easily my favorite thing we ate.Overall, had a great meal here. We left feeling both satisfied and very full. Definitely worth checking out!

My boyfriend and I came here for restaurant week and our 7th anniversary! It was amazing because they gave us a menu that was customized to us because they knew it was our anniversary which was super duper sweet! We totally did not expect that. Coming to the food, it was super good! We did restaurant week menu, and we got a musubi platter on the side as well. For appetizers, we got the tuna belly and pork. We got the chow fun and noodles as our main. Then for dessert, we got the pineapple turnover cake. It was truly an amazing meal. The only regret is not getting more food!! 10/10 would recommend, and we will definitely be back for another time :-)

Came for restaurant week, there are a lot of choose from from the menu for $39 dinner. I had the tuna belly misoyaki, it's well marinated and lightly seared, still very juicy. Surprisingly a very big portion, not a small appetizer. For the main I pay extra $8 for the uni pasta, it's so creamy and pasta has a great texture, really amazing flavor. Pineapple brûlée was ok, basically a slicked pineapple with torched sugar coating, I would order something else. The cocktails are great if you like sweet drinks, they are with either soju or sake mix, very interesting but not too strong, very easy to drink. The space is very small so highly recommend to make reservation. Service is fast and attentive. Had a great first experience
