one of our all time favorite meals
Our family of five with three young adults all agreed it was one of the best restaurant meals we have ever had. All plates were for sharing and came out at a nice pace. We tried almost everything on the menu and liked all of them. Some of the most sublime dishes were the crab with warm butter and the smokie croquettes

Tuesday evening and the restaurant was basically full when I came in, which is astounding. Just shows that this is a popular spot that’s clearly a winner for locals. The food we ordered was just about right in portion sizes and dish amounts. Some of the flavours are honestly something else. At no fault of the restaurant the only downside for us was the ambiance - very noisy with chatter from others - maybe I'm getting too old but when eating at Michelin starred restaurants the noise levels are lot lower. Keep up the good work

I came to Noto upon many recommendations and was really excited. Started off with some broccoli tempura which which didn't exceed expectations but nonetheless was very tasty. My highly anticipated prawn toast arrived, drowned in dried fish flakes (to my dismay). Look, I'm not a big fish eater so with their not being mentioned on the menu this was a bit of a shock, turned out ok as I scraped them off easily to enjoy what was still a delicious prawn toast, but by no means an elevated take on one which I had quietly hoped for. Anyways, pork belly came, flavour of the kimchi was lost in the richness of the pork fat but it wasn't the end of the world. The miso cod then arrived and by this point I was far less excited for this dish than when I ordered it. It came, lo and behold, covered in dried fish flakes, but these had already found their way into the flavour of the whole dish, I still attempted to enjoy the piece of cod in front of me but I was very sad to find out it hadn't been properly cooked and was very slimy. As much as my meal was a bit of a let down, service was great, and I really like what this restaurant is trying to do.

Dined with my partner yesterday. I can see why people enjoyed the menu but for me it was far too greasy, heavy with oil and butter. The crab was a small bit of meat swimming in butter, the bread was stale. The tempura broccoli was greasy. My partner enjoyed the pork crackling & chocolate pudding. The gnocchi was ok, just really oily which soiled the vegetables with it. The cod was ok but very over powering taste. Wine could have been served colder. There were a lot of staff and we were sat next to the wine fridge. I was disappointed. I would have shared the feedback but the staff assumed I enjoyed it and didn’t actually ask!

Had lunch here last Sunday as the menu looked amazing and it did not disappoint. The staff were very nice, attentive and helpful. We were advised to have 5/6 dishes between us which we took on board. We chose to have five which were the Pork Scratchings, Crab Bisque, Prawn Toast, Pork Belly and the Potato Rosti. All five tasted incredible, wish I could have tried them all but we were too full. We were in and out within 45/50 minutes as the dishes do come out very quick but that was mainly down to us wolfing the food down because it was so nice. I would love to go back if I get the chance to try the rest.

Wow, amazing food. My partner & I visited Noto on Sunday lunchtime, we had 5 plates between us and not one disappointed. The crab bisque was a favourite, followed by the Pork Belly, Rosti, Scratchings and Prawn Toast. Staff were pleasant and welcoming. Highly recommend.

A fabulous Tuesday evening dinner at Noto. Clean lines, great music, attentive servers, and fabulous food ! A separate vegetarian menu catered for us very well ! Strongly recommend the shiitake mushroom dish, and the fried apple tart !! We will return !

Having experienced a horrific train journey to Edinburgh, my 6:30 meal turned into a 8:50 meal where I arrived just before final food orders. It was 100% worth the wait. The ladies were so welcoming and accommodating and I was very much loving the thought of propping up the bar area whilst I dug into the delights it had to offer. I knew it would be a bit too ambitious but I wanted to try as much as my stomach would let me as I don’t often travel to Edinburgh and I’m glad that I gave it a valiant effort! I went for the burrata, prawn toast, rosti, broccoli tempura and the miso cod. I wish I’d left room for the dessert but I was well and truly stuffed. The flavours are honestly something else. The broccoli is the only way that I think broccoli should be served moving forwards and the miso cod was so flakey and moist that it just fell apart when you put your fork in. I can’t describe the juiciness and the flavours, it just wouldn’t do it justice so you’ll just have to go and try it for yourself. The restaurant was basically full when I came in, which for a Monday is astounding. Just shows that this is a popular spot that’s clearly a winner for locals.

Fabulous lunch. Really well thought through food, particularly the crab dish, which we hope will be on the menu for our next visit.

Enjoyed six small plates of food today with my husband. Busy enough to give the restaurant a bit of vibe but tables spaced well. Sourdough with chicken skin butter was very tasty, prawn toast adorned with katsuobushi was delicious. aubergine kontatsu was light as fairy's wings, cured trout full of flavour, chicken yakatori with egg yolk was soft and tender, finally the anster croquette was divine and definitely moreish. Topped off with 2 boozy cocktails apiece - what's NOTO love! Our servers were very friendly and professional. Full marks!

We visited Noto on a recommendation from neighbours who use it regularly and we gave it a try recently. Unsurprisingly (since we had enjoyed Aizle when it was in South Edinburgh), we were impressed. The courses (a large range of small plates suitable for sharing) were innovative and, although not every one of them worked for us, the majority were excellent, and the crab butter dish at the start and the dessert sublime. We liked the experimental approach, which produced some really amazing and original flavours and textures. We will be back soon, and also look forward to visiting Noto's big sister, Aizle, in its new home at the Kimpton on Charlotte Square

Really lovely! Almost scandi style food and interior, very fresh, artistic flair to the food, definitely worth its Michelin recommendation.

Innovative combination of Asian and Scottish flavours with exceptional cocktails. Well deserved nomination in the Michelin Guide. Kind and professional staff service with extreme attention to details. It was our second visit and we absolutely recommend it and we foresee a great future in the culinary Edinburgh skyline. Well done!

Delicious food but staff made it even better. Kate is a real asset to the business and the other members of staff made us feel really welcome.

Lovely innovative dinner. Trout appetizer was amazing. Need to book well in advance
We were able to slide in at the last minute at the bar. Super nice staff. Thank you!!
Amazing Duck bao and Crab butter
A friend recomended this to us. We loved the setting. The food was amazing but very rich - crab butter and buratta at once was probably too much, our mistake. However crab butter amazing, it's a must try. My husband loved the bao too. Definetely recommend for something a bit different, just go hungry!
Be the first to ReplyDifferent !!
Certainly different with no feeling of being obliged to have a main course. The flavours of the dishes that we had were all excellent, particularly the prawn toast which was absolutely superb. The service from the young staff was very good too.
One drawback, we felt, was the price of the wines with no bottles under £30. We tried a glass of one of the reds and it was, really, very ordinary wine.
