To say this was excellent would be to put it mildly.
From the moment we stepped in we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. The staff was wonderfully attentive and gave us some amazing suggestions. Wish I had taken some pictures of the dishes or remembered the names but they were clearly delicious as we were too distracted devouring everything to remember to snap a few pics. Appetizer was a portobello one. Came with 3 little sauces and wow it was delicious! I ordered pappardelle with lamb (and something) ragu. Absolutely loved it! My husband ordered the veal osso bucco and wow! Fall off the bone/melt in your mouth outstanding! ps. Omg the bread!! As I said, way too busy licking our plates to remember taking pictures. Leaving we were treated like family with hand shakes and hugs - really fantastic people. Cannot wait to go back and try more delicious specials!

Excellent all around from the service to the quality of food and ambiance, I had the truffle pasta which was incredible and a glass of the Cabernet red wine was delicious. We had the crepe dessert and espresso martinis to end the night and absolutely loved them both.
Be the first to ReplyCozy vibes and lovely old school Italian restaurant.
Great dirty martinis, appetizers, pasta and service. We ate the Kobe beef carpaccio, insalata di carciofini, bolognese pasta and strozzapretti al pesto. Everything was delicious.
Be the first to ReplyWent there for girls night.
Drinks were pretty good. Really like the cosmos but was not a fan of the French martini. They also had a DJ. We sat at the bar and the service was pretty good. The food was amazing. Would definitely recommend.
Be the first to ReplyWhat an extraordinary experience We went to Novita
What an extraordinary experience We went to Novita Saturday night with a large party of fifteen people. Our friend was celebrating a milestone birthday and they had planned this event with the restaurant months in advance. They selected this restaurant because they have been regulars for the past 39 years since it opened. They were told at the time "you have the table as long as you want". The gentleman serving us was polite, attentive, and friendly. The menu was set with options for a starter, entree, and a dessert selected by the guest of honor. Our hosts also selected wine for the table. I started with an artichoke salad appetizer. It was tasty. I then had the tagliolini with a kobe bolognese. Meh. Never a fan of the bowls of pre-grated parm, but, whatever. The final course was a crepe cake that was quite good. Then, the dinner descended into a dystopian hellscape that I don't quite understand. I am assuming he was management, a younger, very angry man clad all in black wearing a long overcoat coat with a popped collar, a black mock neck underneath, and well tailored slim black trousers, proceeded to tell our host it was "you've been here long enough, it's time for you to go". People in our party were still finishing coffee and drinks. He then summoned her away from the table and said "you were here for four hours" (which was not true, we arrived at 6:30 and it was 9:40 when this happened), and to "don't ever come back". It's weird that they did not advise her that when she booked the event that there was a time limit, AND, it's not like we were lingering, or boisterous. Also, it's not like we weren't waiting a while between courses. What's even weirder is, 2 hours and 55 minutes in, after coffee, we were asked if we wanted after dinner drinks. 15 minutes later everything went sideways. I didn't finish my scotch because this hostile and rage spewing individual wanted us out. So, at this point, some of us, including me, had no idea what was happening and I looked up to see this dude scowling at us from afar and berating the more reasonable members of what I assume is his team. The guy was making a scene, in his own place of employment!!!! I was almost embarrassed for the restaurant, but you will soon read why empathetic me took a back seat to shocked and disgusted me. Another member of our party, who works in the restaurant industry, had gotten up and tried to explain to angry boy that his behavior was unacceptable. Had he simply come over and said "hey, guys, hope you enjoyed your evening, we have another large party, could you wrap it up", all would have been fine. While he was all in her face, another member of the team came over, tried to diffuse the situation, and asked her, wait for it, "are you Jewish?" (and no, I am not confusing this experience with an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm). This is the part of the story that caused me to tilt my head like a dog who has heard a high pitched sound, or, in the case of my dog, has been asked the question "do you want to go in the car?". I was so confused why he would ask her "are you Jewish?". Many guests in our party were Jewish. What does it have to do with the time spent enjoying a meal at an average Italian restaurant. I don't get it. This is so confusing to me that this ends my review. It also ends any chance that I will return to Novita at 102 E 22nds Street, ever, not because the food was mediocre, but because I cannot wrap my head around why this young man would have any interest in the religion or race of one of his guests.
Be the first to ReplyThis was a special dinner with family and friends.
The pasta dishes were excellent, Truffles!!!!! All the apps were great, the profiteroles at the end were an excellent cape to a delicious dinner. Great wine list too.
Be the first to ReplySolid Italian place in the city.
It's a nice spot but not too fancy/stuffy. Great for a dinner with family or friends. Service was great, super friendly and fun. Food was delicious, pasta was al dente, and can't go wrong with truffle.
Be the first to ReplyTonight was my first time here and I was so impressed.
The service was excellent and the food was amazing. We sat outdoors which was very cozy and had the heater on. Will definitely come back.
Be the first to ReplyThere's a lot of great Italian in the area, but I'd say
There's a lot of great Italian in the area, but I'd say this place holds its own. While slightly pricier than expected the portions were very large, so I think overall it was a good bang for your buck. Wine was delicious as were the pastas. The atmosphere is really cozy and old school in a nice way. Would definitely return!
Be the first to ReplyMost authentic Italian restaurant in NYC.
Delicious food and unbelievable service. MUST come.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was outstanding!!! Truly authentic Italian.
The seafood pasta was especially delicious.
Be the first to ReplyNovita is an absolute gem.
Their food is amazing and their service is amazing. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyHad dinner here while in NYC-- lovely atmosphere.
I am giving it 3 stars because our entrees were wonderful- great flavor and perfect size! However, the service was less than desirable- our server came over to take our order- then basically never came back- thank goodness for the bus boy- he brought us balsamic for the mozzarella- it was cheese and tomatoes- with a little pea greens- nothing else- no seasoning, no olive oil, no balsamic... I also desired parmesan for my entree- again the bus boy came over and provided it. The server came by as I got up to use the restroom and asked about dessert- Very disappointing for a place that had flavorful entrees. Would not go back as there are many other options in NYC.
Be the first to ReplySome of the best Italian food I've had in the city.
Such a lovely, intimate space and the family that runs the restaurant is incredibly endearing.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Ambience.
Typical Italian upscale restaurant. We ordered Pear Salad, Roasted Potatoes , Spinach Ravioli and Chocolate tart with pistachio and Vanilla gelato. Salad was okish but really liked their Raviolli and the desert. Overall a pretty good experience. Must visit.
Be the first to ReplyNovita has outstanding service, the waitstaff is so
Novita has outstanding service, the waitstaff is so attentive and enthusiastic. The ambiance is classy and fun, great for a date night. The highlight of the show is the food. The zucchini flowers special is something I crave every time I go and all of their seafood pasta dishes are just to die for. Not even a question, will be coming back.
Be the first to ReplyThe pasta and the service are both amazing here.
The wait staff is extremely friendly and have a sense of humor. I give kudos to the pasta but the dessert (sorbet, tiramisu, mille foglie) were fine but it wasn't anything special. Additionally, we got the beef carpaccio and I wasn't a fan. Overall though, the dining experience was great.
Be the first to ReplyTina's take: 6/10First off I have to say it is very small
Tina's take: 6/10First off I have to say it is very small place, but had no issue cramming a lot of people in. Our table was right between the bar and the main dinning area, which meant many people were passing by. First to start off getting a glass of wine each, they were not filled to where they should be compared to other glasses that were given to other tables. Also my friends glass of wine had a piece of cork in it, which was unacceptable. There was a big menu but the selection did not have anything that was amazing. We skipped appetizers because of this issue. When we got our main dishes they were on the smaller portion side, but they tasted ok. The service could have been better as well we did not get checked on and waited a long time for the bill.
Be the first to ReplyThe service is appalling, rude, condescending and slow.
The room is overcrowded. The food is a gold standard for mediocre, overpriced Italian. After a particularly galling experience last night where no attempt was made to honor our reservation and no apology was proffered the owners won't have to worry about all the trouble involved in serving us ever again.
Be the first to ReplyWe had a great evening at this charming Gramercy Park
We had a great evening at this charming Gramercy Park restaurant. The room is warm and cozy. The hosts were charming. Cocktails were excellent Our martini glasses were filled to the rim. The bread, particularly the breadsticks, was excellent and happily replenished. The service was very attentive without being overbearing. There aren't that many sub- $100 bottles of wine. We were one for two with our selections. The food was excellent. We shared perfectly cooked cacio e Pepe to start. My wife had branzino they was expertly filleted tableside. My veal chop Milanese was excellent. We ended the meal with a gelato sundae and a bracing glass of grappa. Last went here in the pre- Yelp era and it's even better now.
Be the first to ReplyGood quality Italian food.
Pasta carbonara not very creamy and heavy bacon flavor. My daughter loves it, my husband didn't like it at all. Tables were too close together for my comfort (March 2022).
Be the first to ReplyGreat food.
Friendly service. Good outdoor dining setup. Loved the cacio e pepe! Highly recommend

What a great spot! Boyfriend took me here (his favorite Italian spot in the city for their carbonara) and it did not disappoint! We had reservations for 2pm on a Saturday and the place was pretty empty. There were two other people sitting across the room. We got a intimate spot in a corner where we could sit next to one another in a booth. The waiter and host were very friendly and gave us delicious Italian bread and water right away. We ended up ordering a half bottle of Pinot noir and $39 it was a good deal as the wine was flavorful. After during the specials it made our decision a little harder. We got the minestrone soup, prosciutto and stuffed zucchini blossoms as an appetizer. The soup was definitely the star as it was thick and very tasty. The Zucchini flowers were nice and crisp! Prosciutto was fine, nothing to rave about. For dinner my boyfriend got the carbonara and it was absolutely delicious. They used a type of elbow pasta as opposed to spaghetti and they were to perfection. The sauce was out of this world and they give you a hearty serving of pancetta. I ordered the cacio e Pepe which was fine for me. The cook of the pasta was very Al Dente (a bit too firm for my liking) and the sauce left a bit to be desired. Ended up adding red pepper flakes toIt which was a nice touch. I took it home and it did taste much better as leftovers. Unfortunately we had no room for dessert but would have loved to try! All in all this is a solid Italian spot in the city to try! Had a nice experience.

A hidden gem in Gramercy- came with a group of four and had the most amazing meal. We'll come back for the kindest service and the variety of pastas!!
Be the first to ReplyOne of my all time favorite NYC restaurants.
It is small and cozy and has authentic Italian food and wine. This restaurant blew up during Covid due to their cute outdoor set up and now it's harder to get a reservation! The pasta is homemade and SO good (you really can't go wrong with any dish). They have the nicest staff and owners. I love coming here- always an amazing experience
