My first time getting omakase and let me tell you, it's good.. but it's $$$$$$. We came here to celebrate mh friend's birthday and the experience was super cool - you get a set course and the chef prepares it in front of you. My favorite was the Miyazaki mango which the chef says they sell one mango for $100 (not sure if he was joking though). I also really liked the toro cuts and the hamachi hand roll was yummy! The seaweed here is very crispy and fresh. Our bill for 3 people came out to be $1,100 since we also ordered a bottle of sake and more sushi on top of the omakase. The omakase is $185 per person for dinner and like all places, you probably need a few more pieces on top of the omakase set to be full. Overall, cool experience, awesome staff, but hard for me to come back unless it's for a special occasion!
Be the first to ReplyMight be some of the best sushi I've ever had.
Nori perfectly toasted, rice perfect and the fillings on each hand roll was *chef's kiss. What a great way to get a little nibble of something amazing without having to commit to an entire omakase menu. Wish I could give it 10 stars

Came with my bestie after work to catch their handroll happy hour. Even it's happy hour, you're only able to order each handroll once for $12. Afterwards, it'd be original price. Honestly, there's nothing special about the handrolls. Each one had so much rice in it that we both were so full after 5 handrolls each. We're stuffed but not satisfied. In addition, some handrolls were over seasoned. I'd go Kazunori for my handroll fix from now on.

Hands roll down. Extremely fresh and such pleasant staff. Recommended for a fun stop in
Be the first to ReplyLiterally the worst sushi experience I've had in my life.
Got super sick, absurdly no piece tasted about a 3 out of 10. Expensive compared to the longstanding NY staples. Never again- there are so many better options than this place. People were nice enough- not their fault but shocked at how awful this was.
Be the first to ReplyVery nice and lowkey spot.
One side is omakase/a la carte seating and the other side is a stand up hand roll bar. I loved the quick hand roll bar concept and the handrolls were so fresh, as the chef waited to make the next handroll so the seaweed stayed fresh. I went for happy hour for $10 handrolls and I would definitely go back. Would love to try the omakase section.

I haven't tried the omakase (one day I will)- my review is for the standing bar right by the entrance. My friend told me about this place and since we were in the neighborhood, we stopped by. You'll need a reservation for the omakase but since we were totally fine with standing, we went promptly... err stood? parked? (what's the standing version of seated?) at two spots at the handrail counter. It was after peak lunch time on a Saturday so we were the only ones at the counter. Check out the menu- they have several "set" handroll menus and you can also order a la carte. I got the set of 4, which included tuna, grilled salmon pate, scallop and plum shiso/cucumber handrolls. The scallop was my favorite, followed by the plum shiso/cucumber roll as it was a really refreshing way to end my meal. Fish was fresh and the nori was crispy! Wasn't blown away but would recommend if you want a quick bite.

Hands down my new fave omakase in the city that's under $100. For $85, you get 7-8 pieces of nigiri + a handroll + miso soup + dessert (Tamago + fresh fruit), which is enough to sate even a hungry gal like me. And if you want more, order a la carte, where you can choose from the handrolls that they're currently going viral for (I got the scallop + caviar and the king crab + anchovy). Chef Taka was SO SWEET and chatted with me throughout the meal (I was alone because normalize dining alone ); we exchanged restos to eat at and I found out he's literally been a chef for 30+ years of his life, which makes sense because his movements were ART and DANCE but in the form of sushi making. I was so in awe I didn't even wanna take vids lmao. Cannot recommend enough. Definitely will be coming again and will hopefully be able to try Sushi Noz next door in the future
Be the first to ReplyNoz Market is an outstanding restaurant.
I went there for lunch and had a great time. The sushi is fresh and the chef is knowledgeable and friendly. From king salmon to belt-fish to the shrimp, everything was exquisitely prepared . The lunch comes with about 9 courses and towards the end you can add additional items at various price points. From beginning to end, I enjoyed the vibe, experience and food.

Cute little standing counter upfront where you can order items and takeout boxes (the hand rolls are counter only). Further in the back there is an omakase option, which is more of expensive. Service is fast and the hand rolls are tasty. Bonus4 pretty baby friendly at the counter! Would swing by more often if closer!

The fish were all super fresh! Flavor of the sauce on the anchovy was really interesting and unique in a good way. Found the soy sauce was a little overwhelming on the tuna and scallop rolls. Salmon pâté and toro taku were good textures.
Be the first to ReplyVery confusing location.
During opening it was a quick flash handroll/charashi bar which was very unstable, sometimes awful, sometimes good, depending if ur chef is newbie or more experienced. Now its standing handroll/omakase=nigiri. As u enter u it splits into 2 parts. Standing handroll bar/hostess on right. Left is entrance to seating area. Ambience is casual, same fragile wood(remind u put ur phone on the napkin). Upon seating u will be greeted & thanked tremendously numerousxx by mr taka at a traditional diaphragmical higher tone throughout the whole meal. Then the nigiri starts. A faster pace you will be realizing 10pc is over within 40 min. For $200 it is not nearly enough. So the add on begins. 8pc extra later. Im at a point of slight satisfaction. But much is missing from an omakase experience for the pricetag which ended at $350. So heres my suggestion. Go in a la carte style. Choose ur pricepoints nigiris, know what u are getting for ur buck. The experience itself is a grab & go anyway so be it. Mr TaKa for the 3 stars. Dont expect the sushi pieces to be perfect size like noz, his pieces are much smaller. Everything else is just not up to par. Not refined at all. Bemindful the tip is added, but the slip u sign will have a add tip line again. I can see myself stopping by again for some a la carte style, but thats as far as it goes.Omakase experience...C+A la carte prob..B+
Be the first to ReplyBest hand rolls hands down.
I absolutely enjoyed every single last bite of that hand roll. It is a great snapshot into Noz next door which is even more unique, however I do think that it is expensive for what it is. You can't order some of the fancier rolls until you are through with basic set you are supposed to get and at that point you may be full. Would love to see this change.

My friend and I did the omakase here, and it was superb! All of the pieces were prepared using the same quality of fish as its well-renowned sister restaurant Sushi Noz, and it truly shows with each bite. I especially loved the chutoro piece - so delicious and literally melted in my mouth. The service staff were so attentive, particularly interns of making sure everything was immaculate. Plus the sushi chef was really engaging and just so friendly. All in all, if you love Sushi Noz or really any high quality omakases, I would highly recommend Noz Market for a less pricey but still fantastic omakase experience!

Quality of fish selection was a 7/10 but not sure if I would order this again for the price. I got delivery and the total was around $95. It was worth a try but maybe eating inside is a better experience.
Be the first to ReplyReally good quality fish.
However, quite pricey. You are paying for what you eat. Take note that this is the store front version (take away) of Sushi Noz - so you will be getting the good stuff.
Be the first to ReplyPhenomenal alternative if you can't go to sushi noz.
Cheaper but the same quality. Love the packaging; everything is clearly made with care and thought. The $80 toro roll is packed and well worth it. The onigiri is amazing and the tamago was the best I've ever had (the perfect sweetness). Will definitely be revisiting.

I decided to splurge and get myself some toro at the Noz Market the other day. I usually pop in and get a hojicha and savor the roasted flavor. It's especially nice when there is a chill in the air. There are many high end sushi places to try in this city and yes this is one but one of the few that offer a market style take out experience.I got a cute little box of this and I think honestly it was a little overpriced for what it truly was. It was the hint of a toro but also mixed in with daikon so that I couldn't truly get myself toro flavor in this little hand roll. I was honestly disappointed and regretted not getting some sashimi then.Regardless it's nice to have a market style option for sushi in this area.

We had the set menu that included a tiny salad, miso soup, 8 pieces of nigiri, 6 pieces of tuna roll, and a scoop of ice cream for $85 outside seating. The fish appear to be fresh and texture was good. Salad was tiny and not much taste on the dressing. Miso soup was just ok. They ran out of the ginger ice cream I ordered and settled with sesame ice cream. Ice cream was very sweet which I like, but not the best I ever had. I am sensitive to food that are not fresh. Within 1/2 hour of eating I have food poisoning. Something served was not fresh. Two of my family members were fine. OK if you just want to experience the sushi served what was supposed to a 1 star Michelin restaurant served next door. For me was totally not worth and not recommended.
Be the first to ReplyFish was ok- some pieces were fresh, some fishy and bad.
Maybe I'm spoiled? Service was horrendous. Absolutely no program. No attention to details. A total mess. I would not go back nor would I ever recommend.
