Got the worst food poisoning of my life here while I was
Got the worst food poisoning of my life here while I was staying at The Jane. 100% sure it was this place as it was the only place I ate during my stay. know it's a liability issue but I also got no apologies from management. Not that I'm surprised. Saw employees eating bread by the service station which is pretty gross. Food is whatever, some of its good, very over priced, service is slow as molasses.... But if you're traveling for work or basically have anything important to do in the next 72 hours don't eat here. I've never been so sick in my life. Couldn't even drink water for 24 hours. And don't expect the concierge at the Jane to help you out in the least.

KITCHEN CLOSED TIL SUMMER 2022 -- so just espresso bar & pastries for now. Lovely old world ambiance, high quality coffee.
Be the first to ReplyThe most beautiful restaurant, especially with the ambience
The most beautiful restaurant, especially with the ambience at night. I went with a friend last fall and fell in love with the beauty and aesthetic of it. The food however was not great, defiantly not for the price. Also, I didn't see any vegan options on the menu so I asked the waiter if he could help me find an option. He had absolutely no idea or understanding of vegan options on the menu and after multiple trips to the manager and the cook (both seemingly unable to help him) he came back and offered me the gluten free option. I said "sure, is that also the vegan option?" to which he replied "yes, I think so, I will make sure though". At this point I felt bad that it was getting so complicated and just said okay. They seemed pretty busy so I genuinely think he was going the best he could without the managers being available. I totally understand that not everyone in the restaurant business knows what vegan is however, it would be nice if the staff were educated on vegan options, especially in this nice of an establishment.

I'd say it's a pretty good place and I had a great experience. I think many bad reviews are about mornings and brunch which I haven't yet to try and it looks okay but not my go to? However, the evening menu is quite nice. The waiters and waitresses were extremely friendly and willing to answer any questions you may have. Good quality ingredients and alright portion. A bit on the smaller side when you see it but it's actually a perfect size. The drinks are nice, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Red wine (barbera was fine but not the best I've had, the white star is decent. My friend had their lemonade and tea. Quite a few tables and usually not too busy on a weekday, not sure if it's any different on the weekends though. The linguini & clams were tasty and the clams are big so it's nice but it's a little bit too salty for my liking. I like the texture of the pasta but I just wish it's a bit less heavy. The lamb radiatore was amazing, sauce is a bit on the sour acidic side but it's not too strong. The shredded lamb wasn't dry and the pasta was perfectly cooked. The desserts were pretty good too. The olive cake and ice cream was pretty good and it balances out with the sourness and sweetness of the berries, I'm just personally not a strawberry person so I wished there was other options for the ice cream flavour. The chocolate lava cake was amazing though. Rich and nice consistency but not overpowering sweet. It's a bit on the pricier side but it's Chelsea so it's fair with the portion and quality of the food and service. I would come back for dinner from time to time and it's a place I would recommend
Be the first to ReplyFantastic brunch spot.
Steeped in NYC history, it blends old world with new world. Delicious food, attentive service, beautiful room with light streaming through the windows. Perfection!

TRULY.Bad food in NYC is tragic--with so many fantastic offerings, how can it go wrong?Avoid this restaurant at all costs, do not be fooled by the trendy and bright ambiance.Food: Their brunch offerings were promising, but proved to be far too ambitious for their extremely mediocre kitchen staff. Food took nearly an hour to come out; nothing was the right temperature and everything was overcooked. Orders were wrong or not made according to the menu description. My egg sandwich had the smallest, most unappealing portion of prosciutto I've ever received in NYC. It was also missing the "aioli" as described on the menu. To top it off, it was cold to the touch! Literally, nothing could make-up for the sub-par food.Service: I have never experienced such an unprofessional staff in my life. They were inattentive, obnoxious, poorly-mannered, and quite frankly, they all seemed miserable. Workplace gossip among staff took place behind the bar--so crass. Lowbrow staff. It was genuinely unnerving to see them all so miserable. It's upsetting because I had such high expectations.Try again, Old Rose. Customers, please take your business elsewhere! There are countless other dining spots nearby with it all: food, drinks, manners and general decency!
Be the first to ReplyCute place with good food.
Not jaw-droppingly amazing, but good. Service was friendly but incredibly slow and the waiter rarely came by. It took 45 minutes for us to get some relatively quick-to-prepare dishes (fried eggs and bacon), and the restaurant was barely 2/3 full so it didn't seem as though the kitchen could be slammed.

I'm staying at the adorable Jane hotel above so I've been here twice nice. Food is mediocre and over priced but the real kicker is the staff. I went in this morning to grab breakfast and the woman and bartender seemed annoyed that I interupted their conversation shit talking the new gm and other staff. Have your conversations in the back, customers should feel welcome, not an inconvenience. I'll be looking for tonight's dinner and tomorrows breakfast anywhere else

Great ambiance- horrible food My chicken tasted and smelled like the subway The dessert had vanilla whipped cream but it was loaded with amaretto Two stars because the waiter was so nice and attentive
Be the first to ReplyI consistently recommend this spot for larger birthday
I consistently recommend this spot for larger birthday dinners or just dinners with a couple friends. They are very accommodating and know how to treat a large group. The vibe of the restaurant is incredible and what really makes this place spectacular! I highly recommend trying to vodka pizza , it's a go-to of mine!
Be the first to ReplyBland.
ย We went for brunch, a party of six, and we all agreed everything was bland. Three of us ordered a harvest bowl salad. No dressing. Basically just dry arugula. I felt bad because I picked this spot based on my prior positive experiences. Service was bland as well. Waitstaff switched mid-stream. The place was not as packed as usual so I'm not sure why the food was subpar. We're giving this place a break until they switch owners again.

This place has such good food! The pizza is some of my favorite in NYC. We ordered the vodka and the sausage and both were amazing. ย The pizza's are like thin crust personal pies, but the crust is so sturdy and crunchy it makes it soo enjoyable to eat. We were 3 people and ordered 2 apps and ย 2 pies and were so full by the end. The atmosphere is so nice and cute and laid back, away from all ย the craziness of nyc. You kind of feel like you've left the city it's so nice and quiet.
