This restaurant in the lobby of our hotel met all of our
This restaurant in the lobby of our hotel met all of our needs on this trip, as my mom found her comfort zone (avocado toast) on the menu a few times, and when she dined one night for dinner, was surprised with a birthday cake (her birthday is today). This morning for her birthday, we all had the buffet at 48 SGD per person. It had food representing a variety of countries and cultures, with things I had never seen before (smoked tuna and snow fish next to the smoked salmon). The back area was my favorite, with Indian, Chinese, and Japanese items. There were dim sum with chicken and shrimp so I did not have to miss out because of pork. The Japanese area was my favorite: tofu hijiki salad, cold soba and udon, dashimaki tamago, and then...behold....rice with toppings and ONSEN TAMAGO! I was pretty enamored to have two bowls of rice with negi, nori, shichimi, soy sauce, sesame oil, fried shallot, and that gorgeous onsen tamago with its bright orange yolk. I kept calling it food porn! Anyway, it was a great way to start the day along with a pot of jasmine tea! We were amused as the bill listed this as "American breakfast buffet" - perhaps because Americans are known for big appetites? I would love to see more onsen tamago in American breakfasts...wishful thinking. Itadakimasu!

While staying at the Four Seasons, I had dinner twice at this restaurant, once with friends and the other with family. In summary, price wise the food is a little pricey because it was the Four Seasons. ย Here is a review of the food.On the first night my friend and I ordered the Avocado, mixed baby cresses and miso dressing (also had a crispy rice topping to add crunch) salad. The portion was very small and I guess was meant for one instead of two. ย I did enjoy the salad and it was very good. ย We followed that with the miso chicken, sesame togarashi and shishito peppers and the steamed atlantic cod, prawns, clams, kaffir lime leaves. Both dishes were amazing as everything melted in our mouths. ย Truly well done. The second night, my family and I ordered lobster and pork chops for four to share. ย Both items were cooked to perfection and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The shared lobster also came with two sides which we asked for garlic mashed potatoes and Wild Mushroom sides. ย I must admit it was an excellent meal.As for service, it was very attentive and professional. ย I thoroughly enjoyed the service by a specific waiter. ย I did not get his name but he was a taller stocky fellow who made excellent recommendations. ย I would not give them five stars but they were definitely headed in that direction. ย A great special events location.
Be the first to ReplyMany of our friends living or working in the neighbourhood
Many of our friends living or working in the neighbourhood use this as their cafeteria. It's open 16 hours a day, the ร -la-carte menu is adequately long (with both western and Asian dishes), the food is not bad, prices are more reasonable than at comparable lounges (eg. Brasserie Les Saveurs at St Regis), and service is swift. At lunch, the sinful char kway teow is amazing - more yummy than most hawker stalls in town! But this is more a chic cafeteria than a fine-dining restaurant.

Be the first to ReplyOne-Ninety is the long-timer in-house continental
One-Ninety is the long-timer in-house continental restaurant of the Four Seasons in Singapore. It may be a trite dining concept, but it's an old-reliable that can be counted on for a simple, low-fuss meal amidst elegant digs. The Mezze Dinner Buffet ($64+ per pax) is a semi-buffet spread of curated appetizers and desserts, and supplemented with an ala carte main course. It's not the most extensive or outstanding of buffets, but where the selection is kept purposefully small, the quality is maintained pretty highly. Our ala carte mains were:1) Pan-fried Mediterranean Seabass: cooked beautifully, and simply adorned by a broccolini caponata, lemon, ketchup, and a lemon cream sauce.2) Black Angus Prime Tenderloin ($32 supplement): juicy, imbued with a wonderful char, and served with a red wine jus and blistered baby peppers. Nice if a little overpriced for the quality
Be the first to ReplyJust came home from four seasons with some family friends.
I just had to write down the review before I forget :PWe ordered a rack of lamb to share which came really big. It was done medium-well, and it was quite good. We also ordered Tajima wagyu steak which was from their 'wood-burning grill'. It was fantastic, because I love the taste of steaks when they are slightly burnt from the grilling. Not only that, but the medium-well wagyu steak that we ordered was excellent. The tenderness of the meat, was accompanied by the soft, fatty texture. The savory taste of the meat will linger in your mouth.. It was a great meat. Would definitely come back for more!

Get ready to pack on the pounds with the newly launched Mezze Dinner buffet at One-Ninety in Orchard. This latest instalment features a main course and buffet spread of appetizers and desserts at an unbelievable price of only $58++!! Buffet sounds highly inviting but the showpiece is the main course that comprises a selection of wood-fired steaks and seafood, grilled over apple wood at more than 200 degrees Celsius in temperature. Some of the mains require additional charges but they are very worth the extra bucks. Take for example the Rack of Lamb from Australia that truly exemplifies the skills of Chef Owen who is a master at handling tricky cuts. The marinade is nothing fancy, but the meat is superbly succulent and tender, as if I was slicing a raw eggplant. The pastry team seems to know the cacao bean very well as the chocolate treats were clearly the jewels of the dessert table. They were so decadent that one would be forgiving towards the slightly chewy over-chewy macarons. Sparkling like a bar of gold, the well-tempered Chocolate Yuzu Tart doesn't hit one in the face with a sharp citrus taste but it crawls in gradually towards the centre of the tart. There is a gorgeous dark chocolate ganache cake topped with raspberries but it could not surpass the supremacy of the Hazelnut Royaltine. This signature cake of Four Seasons lives up to its reputation with a satisfyingly thick and crunchy feuilettine. Probably a seasonal Italian inspiration, the "chocolate salami" is another dessert snack with its rewarding crumbliness and incorporation of salt that cuts through the cookie beautifully. Even "mainstream" desserts such as mixed berry crumble with buttery rocky-road chunks or the cloud-like bitter Chocolate pot de Crรจme stood notches above the rest. At a very reasonal price of $58, the Mezze dinner here goes beyond the sophisticated meal experience by creating a very welcoming, intimate ambience as if one is dining at home without feeling rushed or disturbed by loud, noisy conversations. Located just right next to the kitchen is the Chef Table which can seat up to 14 guests, making it a highly suitable option to host gatherings with your family and friends. But ultimately, it's all about the food. Driven by the philosophy of freshness and seasonality, there is of course one big catch: the menu changes all the time, so the yummy lobsters or chocolate yuzu tart might not appear on the buffet table on your visit. No worries, everything here is first rate.
Be the first to ReplyFour Seasons Hotel in Singapore generally has very good
Four Seasons Hotel in Singapore generally has very good dining establishments and One Ninety is no exception. I adore their Sunday brunch with its freshly shucked oysters and meat grilled to perfection, and its martini bar where the alcohol was poured into an ice sculpture where it traveled before reaching the glass so as to keep it chilled. I am not sure if this is a standard feature every Sunday or just that time. Pretty cool to watch even if you don't drink. Food is fresh and service is attentive. I also love its lunches. It has become my new favorite place for a relaxing bite in the afternoon. Besides the a la carte dishes, you could do the mezze lunch - appetizers and dessert buffet (small but comprehensive) or with a choice of mains. The main portion is not huge so it is quite a good addition if you want more meat or seafood in your meal. The staff check on the buffet selection very often so it is replenished very quickly. The Buffalo mozzarella with fresh tomatoes are awesome, likewise for the salmon dish (don't remember the name) where the salmon is so tender it can melt in your mouth. The cheese spread is equally good. It is also a good location for a business lunch as it is not very noisy. Yelp Feb 2014 Challenge: 5/28
Be the first to ReplyHeaded to Four Season's One Ninety for their breakfast
Headed to Four Season's One Ninety for their breakfast buffet. There was an international selection of food ranging from cold cuts to japanese to teochew porridge. There were also the typical breakfast staples such as eggs, bacon, sausages and beans. One thing I like about this buffet are their japanese food which has unagi rolls and soba (which is quite unusual for breakfast) and their selection of honey which goes really well with their toasted bread.
