Oscar Wilde New York Reviews from The Last Year
4 stars is for the decor and whimsy and fun.
Service not great - food not great. But definitely go for the experience! They have a tea room in the back but it seemed like other patrons were getting tea service at any table. The decor changes throughout the year and there's also a lovely outdoor seating area.
Whimsical and has delicious and creative drinks.
Food is good too! I love that the bar wraps around the entire place so everyone has a seat at the bar! It's huge!
Colorful restaurant with good food
We were staying in the Flatiron district and had read about this bar/restaurant. Walked up on a Saturday evening without a reservation and sat outside. The inside was very decorated with an Alice and Wonderland theme but it was also very loud. It took a long while to get our truffle arrancini app but then our salad and entree arrived quickly after that. There was definitely a fun, lively vibe inside with mostly adults but a family or two also. It was Pride Month so restaurant had a lot of displays and rainbows. My wife enjoyed her salad and I enjoyed the missels fra diavolo (very generous portion). I also had a nice smooth stout that I'd never heard of before and we treated ourselves to bread pudding for dessert. We had a good experience and would recommend this place.

Absolutely stunning, no notes! We went for the Alice in Wonderland themed time and it was so spot on and magical. The attention to detail was incredible. You really feel like you're in wonderland! We got the tiered tea set and got to choose our tea and the presentation was beautiful. I will say they had a DJ for the afternoon tea service was playing some aggressively house pop music which didn't quite match up to the vibe, but the decor and everything else made up for it. 10/10 would come again!

The name of this place was very inviting and it did not disappoint us. The ambience and the decor was the highlight. It was out of the world. Haven't seen such a place in Manhattan. The amount of effort put into this place is crazy. The detailing is great. They had a lot of characters from Alice in Wonderland, so if you're fan then you're in for a great time. The truffle arancini and the fries were great. The cocktails were $17 each. My favs: Cheshire Cat claw - a blue curaco drink Truffle Arancini Calamari Fries with 3 different sauces Bogart - close to old fashioned The bourbon based drinks were good. The waitress killed the mood and spirit of this place. Uninviting non-smiling waitress. You see what I say? 3-stars because of their service. Wasn't warm until I tipped a 25% though the waitress messed up our drink and got a different drink and there was no apology. Shows the quality of the staff and how they're trained ! This is my second visit and the experience has been the same. Would recommend booking and going.
I had the chicken and it was amazing.
I would definitely order it again. I think the food is over priced, however it was yummy. I wouldn't recommend getting the sliders, they are nothing special. The ambience is spectacular and very cool to see. Our waiter was great.

More interested in being an Instagram trap than serving its clients. Go if you're mostly interested in taking some photos but prepare to be treated badly; it was scorching hot and even though I had a reservation and the restaurant was empty I wouldn't be seated anywhere with air conditioning. Went to the Smith down the street and was treated much better.

Go for the ambiance of flamboyant florals and Alice in Wonderland motifs. Enjoy lovely cocktails, and suspend expectations for original food. Yummy dishes though not particularly unique and overpriced. Waitstaff worked very hard, though weren't readily responsive for water refills on a blistering hot day. Will return for more pictures and another opportunity for other dishes.

I'm happy to have finally crossed this place off from my bucket list. The ambiance and the food were great quality. However, beware of the afternoon tea as it can come off as a scam. It is $50 per person, and they serve you the same amount of food for two people as they do for only one person. That means that they are literally charging you double the price to get the same amount of food as the one person next to you who might be by herself. It's kind of shameless that they do that. Aside from the fact that the venue boasts an attractive ambiance but the hostess rudely scolds you for taking photos while you showed up for your reservation early. So little makes sense!
My friends and I came for the afternoon tea experience
My friends and I came for the afternoon tea experience during their Alice in Wonderland theme. The interior was gorgeous and had a great attention to detail! The actual afternoon tea on the other hand was ok. They brought a pot of hot water and let us each choose our own tea bag. The food was really filling and pretty sweet. I would only get food again if it matched the theme of the restaurant but otherwise would stick to drinks.
Down the rabbit hole, indeed
We came here for the Alice in Wonderland-themed afternoon tea as part of my daughter's 7th birthday. It was magical and full of whimsy, not to mention delicious food and amazing cocktails. The decor is perfection, from the life sized tweedle dee and tweedle dum at the entry, to the moving flowers and the cheshire cat hidden in the tree. The food was all spot on, my kiddo loved the cucumber and mustard tea sandwiches so much we've bee making them on repeat at home. We all ordered cocktails and they created a beautiful mocktail for her, much to her delight. I will say that our original server was a bit of disaster and another waitress had to step in and basically take over. The original server seemed more focused on looking good and prancing around, leaving the other server to hustle and help ALL the tables. If you end up with a tall, long-haired dark-brunette, ask for the other gal, things will go much more smoothly. Service aside, the experience here is not to be missed if you are a fan of wonderland. Highly recommend.
Such a Unique Place!
We visited this place for late afternoon drinks and some apps. The food and drinks were marginal and overpriced. Don’t expect good service, lots of people standing around behind the bar and not many serving customers. And the hostess was far from welcoming. You know that the place is special despite marginal food and poor, unfriendly service because I highly recommend a visit. Be sure to make reservations. Despite lots of space in the restaurant, we dropped in and were relegated to the very end of the bar.
Ecclectic and Dramatic Photo opps!! Great place for drinks.
King Ludwig II of Bavaria (Google it) has nothing over this place. Gilded in gold (we assumed real gold) and brashly but tastefully adorned with brilliant colors on furnishings and general decor, this place is a shock to the senses as soon as you walk in. Having already made reservations elsewhere we were nevertheless drawn to this restaurant's mystique. They have a full menu though only about 7-8 entrees but tons of apps and other small bites and they all looked good as we read through the menus, speaking of which,,,they do have brunches on Sundays but be aware they are occasionaly "themed" and you may want to check their website ahead of time to ensure that the theme is in line with your philosophies. We grabbed sea ts at the bar immediately and ordered wine. Surprisingly the wine was nominally priced at about $14/chardonnay and $13/pinot noir. Bar service was OK but indifferent. The place was slow yet the bartender wandered off all the time. Although we didn't ask nor did we search for a restaurant parking option it appeared to be pn;ly street parking. We were lucky in finding something right away Overall I would recommend this place if only for its visual satisfaction. Next time we will even eat there!!
Nice Themed Atmosphere. Service Can Improve
Came here for dinner late on a Sunday. Made a reservation just to be secure. It was busy, but not cometely packed. The Alice In Wonderland theme they had going on was wacky, but funny. The menu is mostly small bites, but they are good. The service can be hit or miss. Was a little slow ht there were only a couple servers managing the whole floor. I got the wings, the arancini, and the calamari. Everything was good, but the arancini felt a bit undercooked. We also got the bread pudding to try, and when it was served, it was cold with caramelized sugar on top. Not good. The drinks were delicious though. I had a smoked old fashioned. Overall, it was a decent experience.
Amazing ‘wild’ interior, very atmospheric
Busy and buzzing, a must to see. Alice in wonderland full on themed interior-just beautiful and a bit odd considering its name! Book ahead. We just had cocktails.. expensive but same as everything in New York now!
Always busy, but lively and fun
My second time inside (visited once during the pandemic and sat outside). Full but lively both times. Great cocktails, food is not bad, good people watching and a fun place to have a drink after dinner.
Great pace for a cocktail
Great place to get a drink. Very friendly, nice vibe and great interior. They had lots of cocktails on the menu but also will make anything you want even if it's not on the menu. We went in the evening to get a drink and we sat at the bar which was really good as got to chat a bit to the bar staff and others sitting around us. Would recommend for a cocktail and drink if you are in the area.
Very unique decor, festive atmosphere and good food.
In a city filled with options, this was definitely an adventurous one! I would definitely visit again. *Reservations are a must.
A most excellent evening.
Captivating instagram experience with amazing cocktails, great service and a varied menu that did not disappoint. Go have fun there!

I just had the worst and scariest experience here.
I cannot express how much you should NEVER go to this bar. I am visiting from California with my finance and we went here with our friends from NYC. They've been here before and highly suggested it. We liked the vibe and music. We attempted to get a table but encountered the coldest woman who was the hostess. She refused us a table so we agreed to go just got to the bar and get a drink. We proceeded to get a drink and found a table that someone abandoned. We stood at it and were drinking our drinks. Since we loved the atmosphere, we planned to stay there and spend a lot. This hostess came up and accused us of throwing the reserved placard away. We were so confused. We just wanted to drink and have fun. All of a sudden this large bouncer comes up and forcibly tells us we need to leave after we finish our drinks. We are mortified and scared to have someone so aggressive come and demand this out of no where. I asked the bouncer's name on the way out and he says, "I'm not telling you my fucking name", and acted aggressively toward me, a woman. We have never been treated like this at a bar we wanted to spend money at in our lives. We would never have been treated like this in California. Our friends from NYC profusely apologized and said they had never been treated like this before, and this was not NYC. I invite the owner of this bar to call me, because this treatment is beyond ridiculous. I have NEVER been treated like this as a paying customer. I cannot express the dissatisfaction I experienced tonight.
I would leave 0 stars if possible.
Bartender wouldn't even make eye contact with me. I waited around for a while. There were plenty of opportunities for the bartender to at least acknowledge me. Yes, they were busy, but the area I was sitting at had few people nearby and there was ample opportunity to take my business. I will never go back and recommend you choose one of the other hundreds of excellent options.
Great brunch spot
A group of 6 had a fantastic brunch here. The ambiance was great, the drinks were wonderful, and the food ranged from very good to excellent. The eggs benedict with smoked salmon was the favorite.

The bar area was decorated quite festive due to Chinese new year and it was very loud. We were seated in the back dining area decorated with the hearts and teddy bears that was much quieter. For a starter we tried the truffle arancini, well presented and quite good. We both ordered the Wilde Burger (which was touted as one of the top 10 in nyc) along with a side of truffle fries to share. The burgers were cooked perfectly and quite tasty but not sure I'd give it a top 10 but haven't tried all the others in the list. It's definitely a must see spot in the flatiron area and I would probably go back if in the area again.

Love the decor and food- great place to meet some friends for drinks or a meal. Staff were super friendly.
Loved the lychee drink.
The vibe and atmosphere was very lively and festive. The food was ok but the drinks were the stars of the show.
Dinner somewhere magical
I booked this for Christmas Eve dinner and didn't disappoint at all. Probably didn't pick the best time to go with it being Christmas and late so it was rammed! but the hostess worked her magic and found me a table, which I was grateful for as on the booking system it doesn't tell you that a table for one is on the bar only, which there was zero space due to people having Christmas drinks and taking a lot of other spaces up. It was worth the wait though as the food was amazing and cocktails to go with was a great selection, portion size was ideal too as wasn't too much or too little so felt content and happy leaving. Definitely worth a visit just for the dining experience if your in the city!
A friend asked me to meet here real quick for an exchange.
I was very pleasantly surprised with the look and atmosphere. It was fully dress with CNY decorations it definitely brought a smile to me. This is a larger space full of seating and a huge bar. My really loves wine so the selection was vast but according to my friend it was ok. We got the Caymus(red) and I enjoyed it. A bit pricey per glass but still nice. We ordered the steam pork buns and fries since we were pressed for time. A+ on those pork buns I will be back for those alone.

amazing drinks spot!
We stumbled across this place on our way to dinner and decided to come back after as it looked too good not to try! The decor is absolutely amazing which definitely drew us in. We arrived at around 10pm ish on Sunday and it was very busy so we weren’t sure if there was going to be room for drinks anywhere and we were also after a quick bite. We were shown immediately to a lovely bar spot where they told us they were still doing food which was great! The menu had loads of options, which all sounded lovely. We ended up having the Dumplings & a portion of the Fries. Both were very tasty and was the perfect size option for what we needed. Our bartender was absolutely lovely, really friendly and made sure we had a great time. The cocktail menu was incredible, we had 2 cocktails each and our bill was very reasonable for what we received! So glad we found this lovely place and would 100% return when we come back to New York!

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
