Colorful restaurant with good food
We were staying in the Flatiron district and had read about this bar/restaurant. Walked up on a Saturday evening without a reservation and sat outside. The inside was very decorated with an Alice and Wonderland theme but it was also very loud. It took a long while to get our truffle arrancini app but then our salad and entree arrived quickly after that. There was definitely a fun, lively vibe inside with mostly adults but a family or two also. It was Pride Month so restaurant had a lot of displays and rainbows. My wife enjoyed her salad and I enjoyed the missels fra diavolo (very generous portion). I also had a nice smooth stout that I'd never heard of before and we treated ourselves to bread pudding for dessert. We had a good experience and would recommend this place.

We came here for the Alice in Wonderland-themed afternoon tea as part of my daughter's 7th birthday. It was magical and full of whimsy, not to mention delicious food and amazing cocktails. The decor is perfection, from the life sized tweedle dee and tweedle dum at the entry, to the moving flowers and the cheshire cat hidden in the tree. The food was all spot on, my kiddo loved the cucumber and mustard tea sandwiches so much we've bee making them on repeat at home. We all ordered cocktails and they created a beautiful mocktail for her, much to her delight. I will say that our original server was a bit of disaster and another waitress had to step in and basically take over. The original server seemed more focused on looking good and prancing around, leaving the other server to hustle and help ALL the tables. If you end up with a tall, long-haired dark-brunette, ask for the other gal, things will go much more smoothly. Service aside, the experience here is not to be missed if you are a fan of wonderland. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplySuch a Unique Place!
We visited this place for late afternoon drinks and some apps. The food and drinks were marginal and overpriced. Don’t expect good service, lots of people standing around behind the bar and not many serving customers. And the hostess was far from welcoming. You know that the place is special despite marginal food and poor, unfriendly service because I highly recommend a visit. Be sure to make reservations. Despite lots of space in the restaurant, we dropped in and were relegated to the very end of the bar.
Be the first to ReplyEcclectic and Dramatic Photo opps!! Great place for drinks.
King Ludwig II of Bavaria (Google it) has nothing over this place. Gilded in gold (we assumed real gold) and brashly but tastefully adorned with brilliant colors on furnishings and general decor, this place is a shock to the senses as soon as you walk in. Having already made reservations elsewhere we were nevertheless drawn to this restaurant's mystique. They have a full menu though only about 7-8 entrees but tons of apps and other small bites and they all looked good as we read through the menus, speaking of which,,,they do have brunches on Sundays but be aware they are occasionaly "themed" and you may want to check their website ahead of time to ensure that the theme is in line with your philosophies. We grabbed sea ts at the bar immediately and ordered wine. Surprisingly the wine was nominally priced at about $14/chardonnay and $13/pinot noir. Bar service was OK but indifferent. The place was slow yet the bartender wandered off all the time. Although we didn't ask nor did we search for a restaurant parking option it appeared to be pn;ly street parking. We were lucky in finding something right away Overall I would recommend this place if only for its visual satisfaction. Next time we will even eat there!!
Be the first to ReplyNice Themed Atmosphere. Service Can Improve
Came here for dinner late on a Sunday. Made a reservation just to be secure. It was busy, but not cometely packed. The Alice In Wonderland theme they had going on was wacky, but funny. The menu is mostly small bites, but they are good. The service can be hit or miss. Was a little slow ht there were only a couple servers managing the whole floor. I got the wings, the arancini, and the calamari. Everything was good, but the arancini felt a bit undercooked. We also got the bread pudding to try, and when it was served, it was cold with caramelized sugar on top. Not good. The drinks were delicious though. I had a smoked old fashioned. Overall, it was a decent experience.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing ‘wild’ interior, very atmospheric
Busy and buzzing, a must to see. Alice in wonderland full on themed interior-just beautiful and a bit odd considering its name! Book ahead. We just had cocktails.. expensive but same as everything in New York now!
Be the first to ReplyAlways busy, but lively and fun
My second time inside (visited once during the pandemic and sat outside). Full but lively both times. Great cocktails, food is not bad, good people watching and a fun place to have a drink after dinner.
Be the first to ReplyGreat pace for a cocktail
Great place to get a drink. Very friendly, nice vibe and great interior. They had lots of cocktails on the menu but also will make anything you want even if it's not on the menu. We went in the evening to get a drink and we sat at the bar which was really good as got to chat a bit to the bar staff and others sitting around us. Would recommend for a cocktail and drink if you are in the area.
Be the first to ReplyGreat brunch spot
A group of 6 had a fantastic brunch here. The ambiance was great, the drinks were wonderful, and the food ranged from very good to excellent. The eggs benedict with smoked salmon was the favorite.
Be the first to ReplyDinner somewhere magical
I booked this for Christmas Eve dinner and didn't disappoint at all. Probably didn't pick the best time to go with it being Christmas and late so it was rammed! but the hostess worked her magic and found me a table, which I was grateful for as on the booking system it doesn't tell you that a table for one is on the bar only, which there was zero space due to people having Christmas drinks and taking a lot of other spaces up. It was worth the wait though as the food was amazing and cocktails to go with was a great selection, portion size was ideal too as wasn't too much or too little so felt content and happy leaving. Definitely worth a visit just for the dining experience if your in the city!
Be the first to Replyamazing drinks spot!
We stumbled across this place on our way to dinner and decided to come back after as it looked too good not to try! The decor is absolutely amazing which definitely drew us in. We arrived at around 10pm ish on Sunday and it was very busy so we weren’t sure if there was going to be room for drinks anywhere and we were also after a quick bite. We were shown immediately to a lovely bar spot where they told us they were still doing food which was great! The menu had loads of options, which all sounded lovely. We ended up having the Dumplings & a portion of the Fries. Both were very tasty and was the perfect size option for what we needed. Our bartender was absolutely lovely, really friendly and made sure we had a great time. The cocktail menu was incredible, we had 2 cocktails each and our bill was very reasonable for what we received! So glad we found this lovely place and would 100% return when we come back to New York!
Be the first to ReplyChristmastime is amazing
We visited this place just after Thanksgiving when it was decorated for Christmastime and I must say, it was exquisite! We had dinner reservations elsewhere later in the evening, but decided to stop in for a drink. Their specialty cocktails are truly special. Each one is crafted with care and is mixed to perfection. While we did not eat, we did see many dishes at neighboring tables and everything looked delicious. This is a place I would like to return to for food and drink in the future. A couple of things to know in advance. This place gets VERY crowded. The tables are often marked "reserved" so when you enter, you are kind of forced to wait for a bar stool. However, if you go to Open Table, you can probably reserve a table within minutes. That's what we did after waiting around for 10 minutes without success at the bar area. We arrived around 3:45 and at 3:55 I booked a table online. We were seated right away then. It takes A LONG TIME for drinks to get delivered to your table. Like I mentioned, their drinks are all specialty cocktails and they are not quick to make. If you don't have a lot of time, don't go here. It is not intended to be a brief stopover. This is a place to take it slow and just enjoy your surroundings.
Be the first to ReplyMUST VISIT in NYC
The ambience and decor for a Christmas and other holidays is second to none in Manhattan. You have to go just for that. The music is also great. Honestly I love this place.
Be the first to ReplyBAD BAD SERVICE
Bad service Very bad Service. There was a blonde hostess that keep telling us that our Time is up. She was very rude. Unfortunate because the bar was really nice. Bad bad service: don’t try it
Be the first to ReplyWorth a Visit, even just for a drink!
It was a GREAT experience and so nearly a 5 star. Sadly the service was terribly slow and a little confusing (the barman took my card and kept it for about 10 minutes - that was after waiting about 10 minutes to be served). It was the Friday before Christmas though and we entered at the 2pm opening time, so it was very busy. The decor and atmosphere were fantastic. It is definitely worth a visit!!! We didn't eat as food wasn't being served until 4pm.
Be the first to ReplyDecorations with a side of disappointment
First and foremost - the decorations are fantastic and definitely a spectacle. It comes at a cost, though… Booked well in advance as it was December and knew it was a popular spot at Christmas - had to wait 15 mins to be seated, and were then taken to a table with one stool and crowded round by so many people standing around that we couldn’t physically sit at it properly. Once another stool was sourced, we were so squashed and uncomfortable we wish we had eaten elsewhere. As others have said, at Christmas it’s best to come for photos and then go elsewhere. Even drinking might be hard with all the crowds. If they’re going to offer food at such busy times then they should commit and define areas or don’t do it at all - otherwise it results in disappointed customers… Can’t fault the friendliness of the staff though. Even they seemed to be a bit beaten down by the madness and crowds!
Be the first to ReplyCute decorations, nothing more.
Booked dinner reservation a few months in advance because it’s Christmas time. Decorations are fun, over the top. Food is mediocre at best. Seared salmon had no flavor and servings were small. Waitress was less than friendly and almost seemed like we were a bother, maybe because we didn’t order drinks. I would stop by and take some pics and eat dinner somewhere else.
Be the first to ReplyBrunch & Cocktails
Visited for brunch & cocktails. Natalie attended to us throughout her visit. No question was too much trouble and she recommended quite a few cocktails for me to try which were delicious. She did not rush us at all and could not have been any more helpful. She had a wonderful attitude and when returning to NYC we will visit again and recommend to friends. Amazing decor throughout & friendly atmosphere.
Be the first to ReplyYou have to go here!
What a great place to be in NYC. It’s like entering a 19th century emporium. Great surroundings from a bygone age. The food was excellent, very tasty. Service was good. Very busy place with a great buzz.
Be the first to ReplyLoved the ambience
Loved the ambience. I’d advise reserve in advance if you don’t wanna sit at bar and have a proper table. The food was good too. I wouldn’t say awesome but then again it isn’t the fine dining restaurant. The crème brûlée however is very nice. Loved Oscar Wilde quotes everywhere. Overall : very aesthetic
Be the first to ReplyNope.
This place was a joke. It was 30th birthday and I was very excited to check this establishment out, it looked beautiful online and the drink and food menu seemed really great. Well the night of my birthday comes, we didn't make reservations (this was totally our fault we come from Calgary so making reservations on a Wednesday isn't something that is usually needed, this was my bad) So we walk in and right away the front staff is extremely rude. My lovely fiancé asked the lady at the front if they had any tables, and she rudely looks at him and goes "No, we don't, try the bar" so we try the bar and nothing, so we come back and ask if anything will become available as it was my birthday and I was looking to celebrate. She rolls her eyes and tells us "ok? we don't have any tables we're packed all night". Disappointed we decide to leave, and I was really determined at this point so I was like well lets maybe just check their website. SURE ENOUGH we had a table in 7 minutes. So we show back up for the reservation, I apologize to the girl at the front for "not doing it correctly the first time, but now we had a reservation" and again, rolls her eyes like we're doing her a disservice and seats us. at quite literally the smallest table I've ever been sat at at a restaurant, but that's ok! I'm here at the restaurant I wanted to be at, so we look at a menu and wait for our server. What a disappointment she was, she comes barrelling over, again like we're some how being an inconvenience, and goes "Drink?" so I ask her what she would recommend she huff and puffs and goes "What do you drink" and I say well I like vodka!, and she goes "All you drink is vodka...? ok... and rolls her eyes" so we now feel pressure to order despite the rude service. So we each order a drink ($16.00US a piece). So she brings our drinks over and at this point we had decided we were just going to drink this and go, because it was really upsetting on a night that was supposed to be so special for me, was being flattened by these jerks. She comes back and goes "food?" so we tell her no we're just going to have the one drink and we will get the bill. She rolls her eyes and starts tearing the plates and cutlery off the table, and storms off. We now have sat for 10 minutes waiting for her to come back. FINALLY she arrives with the cheque and now all of a sudden she's got a huge smile on her face and was super interested in what we had to say. It was awful and really put a damper on my evening, I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy, trendy or not, there were hot dog vendors in Times Square with better attitudes.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a find!!!
We visited here for a cocktail whilst away in NYC for a week. This was the best find in terms of a bar. The atmosphere was incredible and the cocktails even better. This was the authentic NYC bar we were looking for and I would highly recommend
Be the first to ReplyTERRIBLE
I can't understand how anyone would pick this restaurant in a city with as many options as NYC. Was greeted by a two very rude hostesses who could not be bothered to be helpful or courteous. I did not have a reservation and was told (after some back and forth) that the bar seats were first come first serve. I asked if the bartenders keep a list and was greeted with total blank stares. (This is not an uncommon practice; ex. Pastis bartenders keep track of who comes in and does a great job accommodating walk ins so you don't feel like a college freshman trying to get a beer at a frat party.) I then tried my hand at the bar and after flagging down and asking no less than 3 bartenders, I managed to get a drink. I asked the bartenders if they thought anyone would be leaving soon - again, total blank stares from bartenders. I started to wonder if I was speaking in a foreign language. Frankly, I would have left at this point, but a nice couple from AU told us that they were leaving and offered us their bar stools. I told the bartenders that we were moving down two spots- again I was met with rude and BLANK stares. Trying to order food went the same as ordering drinks. WORST SERVICE ever. My friend asked for steak frites and the bartender looked up and said "two?" - Well, of course we were not ordering the same dinner. I felt like I was at a fast food place or something. To add insult to injury after we ordered the bartender actually said "So keep your eye out if someone walks by with your food so you can grab it." WHAT? The food was edible and that's the best I can say. I had the chicken sandwich - OH and when ordering it the bartender said "you know that's fried chicken right?" Um- are you judging my order? The music level was at rock concert volume which made it impossible to have a conversation. I would highly discourage anyone from going to this establishment.
Be the first to ReplyAvoid this place! Rude, violent, and discriminatory staff.
Rude staff, manager, and bouncer. Tried to assault my wife and when I told them no one is allowed to touch my wife a bunch of coward staff together pushed me and punched. When you allow yourself to do this to a couple who caused no issues at your bar and you gang on a guy, then you should not even be allowed to operate. Even the couples who were sitting next to us tried to intervene to say we caused no issues to anyone but they don’t care. Don’t let the cool decoration deceive you, this place is the last place you want to go to.
Be the first to ReplyRacist place
Extremely rude, violent, and racist manager who insructs his staff to act the same way. Assaulted my husband and me for no reason, just because we looked happy I guess. There is no rule of law in this place and as you will see in the comments, this is common practice. Avoid going to this place, it is not safe.
