Really good value and quality.
Excellent range of small plates. Everything we had was top quality and reasonably priced. There are plenty of much more expensive tasting menus that are not as good as this. Whoever thought of combining donnuts with pulled pork was having a good day!

Let's just say our recent visit to Osso was more "Sopranos" than "spaghetti night." We rolled in fifteen minutes late, fashionably tardy as always, only to be greeted by the manageress with an icy stare that could curdle milk. Her delightful opening line? "I was just about to give your table away!" Thanks for the warm welcome, love, especially since the entire restaurant seemed to be eavesdropping. Moving on, we bravely ventured into the lion's den and inquired about kid-friendly options. The waitress, bless her heart, relayed the message to the manageress, who then returned with the culinary equivalent of a stone tablet: "We only do what's on the menu." Apparently, at Osso, creativity and whimsy haven't been invented yet. Faced with a menu as rigid as the manageress's smile, and frankly, not wanting to test their patience further by asking for gluten-free air, we decided to cut our losses and make a dramatic exit worthy of a daytime soap opera. So, would we recommend Osso? Well, if you enjoy your meals served with a side of judgement and a main course of inflexibility, then this is your place. For the rest of us, maybe try your luck elsewhere. Just don't be late, they might send the pigeons after you.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent For Lunch or Dinner! 😋
Stopped off in Peebles whilst on a weekend away in the Borders and stumbled across Osso when walking through the town. The tapas-style menu was very appealing, indeed, with some great sounding dishes featured. The menu was presented to us by a gentleman who was incredibly welcoming and polite. His service was outstanding. (I think his name was Paul). We decided to have the soup and sandwich (half and half) dish for lunch. The soup (cream of cauliflower and cheddar) was delicious, homemade and packed with flavour. The sandwich was fantastic, lightly toasted, fresh bread with a super filling (bacon, cheese and chilli jam). The cafetière of coffee was excellent. Behind the bar, I noticed some great looking wines. All-in-all, based on our experience I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant. Well done Team Osso. 👍🏻👏🏻

Popped in for lunch and plenty of evidence of happy faces eating delicious food. Had a multitude of dishes including the whipped tofu, tempura broccoli, Korean cauliflower, cured trout and a delightful stem ginger desert. I have to say that every bit was utterly delicious. My wife previously booked a table for staff night out and was not disappointed. I enjoyed the food so much I’m booking again for a night out. Well worth a visit. The whipped Tofu is to die for…
Be the first to ReplyConfused , odd , badly executed dishes with too much salt in everything
We dined here at the weekend . We’d read all the amazing reviews on this forum so were excited to try . We arrived to only one other table on a Saturday night ( should have been a warning ) and were seated . We ordered around 7 dishes and awaited their arrival . The bread and butter arrived first we’d read the butter was home made . All I could taste was salt . Didn’t enjoy so passed on anymore . A few more dishes arrived the Parmesan custard ( yup you read that right ) was a gloopy mess of overly salted cheese with soggy leeks . Awful , the Welsh rarebit and crab arrives , was burnt on the bottom so hard to cut , the first taste !!! SALT ! Yet again . Inedible . The waiter ( and older fellow ) pressed as to why we’d not touched it , we made polite excuses , then the mackerel arrived . First bite all I can taste is orange ( no mention of said oranges on the menu ) really didn’t work , by this point I’d given up . The chips arrived and were so salty I just laughed . I did enjoy listening to the older lady answer the phone , roll her eyes and then bitch to the other staff that the guest that just cancelled there on the phone only done so as they didn’t swap his time booking . ( he got off lucky I can tell you ) Few other dishes arrived , I didn’t bother and my other half tried and said all over seasoned and way too salty . Over all this reeks of a chef gone wild with a confused and very odd mix of styles and elements in a hotch potch of plates . We had to leave due to a family emergency and didn’t get a chance to offer up feed back , we did email the restaurant directly pre leaving negative reviews to receive a one sentence response , no apology . Very arrogant considering the industry is on its knees . I’ve had the pleasure of eating all round the world and have worked under and alongside some of the countries best chefs , at 5 star , 5 red star and Michelin star and this was by far the worst meal i have ever had to sit thru . Avoid .

Great meal with friends, lovely staff, nice drinks list. Relaxed feel. Best mussel chowder/ mussel dish I have ever had in my life. Would go back just for that. Some dishes were a bit off base, but on the whole, fantastic value for money.

Had a wonderful meal at Osso every dish was unique with great flavours. My favourites were the chicken wings and beef tacos. The service was also brilliant with the staff just wanting you to have the best experience possible. Would definitely go back
Be the first to ReplyAs good as the reviews !!!
Excellent food and service at Osso. Tapas style food with a varied choice. Lively atmosphere tonight as well. If we lived closer we’d definitely come back. Too bad they won’t deliver Hogmanay box to Yorkshire!!!
Be the first to ReplyOUTSTANDING
The style is tapas with Mediterranean/Oriental flavours. Might seem fancy but it is the ideal way to serve this food. All the dishes are so tasty, fresh and well balanced, that you want to try as many as possible...so tapas is ideal. Every dish is distinct but no dish clashes with any other. The menu is executed superbly. This is not just the best restaurant in Peebles, its the best in the Borders. So why does it not show at top in TripAdvisor. Well, the top two aren't restaurants at all, they are hotels (including one that lists Macaroni cheese with chips as a main course - that's a canteen!). They don't even show as restaurants on google.

Exceptional. We enjoyed all the options. The waiters advice on how much to order was spot on. We will go back!
Be the first to ReplyVery lucky to have such a fantastic restaurant in Peebles
Service is always so friendly and attentive, with great knowledge of wine and the full menu including the specials. Quite a few new and interesting dishes which were all delicious- would recommend everything but especially the cauliflower!

We had 6 sharing plates between 3. All the dishes were very tasy with some unusual but lovely pairings. A great experience - we will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyAn absolute must place to visit….
What’s not to like, the food was outstanding and very reasonably priced, the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the food, they certainly do not rush you like many places do, over all a very pleasurable experience… We will be back…

Got gifted a meal here as a Christmas present. Wasn’t aware of this place before but we are now and will definitely be back. Lovely, lovely food in a relaxed, stylish setting with excellent service. Would travel here just to go this restaurant, it’s that good.

Lovely varied menu of small bite- we had 5 different plates and a side salad. All were excellent as was the wine with a lovely pudding to share at the end.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious Food and Friendly Service
We had a lovely meal here with family on a Friday evening. The food was excellent and delicious to eat. Two small issues meant that this is 4 stars rather than 5; we had some flatbread with one of the dishes which had clearly been heated in a microwave as it was really quite hard and one of the desserts had some ice cream which was so salty it was inedible. Other than this, everything else was fabulous. We would definitely visit again if in the area and would happily recommend.

Had a really enjoyable meal here with a few family members. Most dishes priced well but chips were (oddly) pretty expensive. The variety was good. Nicely cooked.

Absolutely can not fault anything! Every dish was fantastic! Amazing to have this is a small town, the queues would be out the door in Edinburgh!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Lunch
This small restaurant specialises in tapas style food. We had two “main courses” and one dessert each. The food was fresh tasting and presentation was very good. Service was unobtrusive and friendly. We will certainly return.
