Competitively priced afternoon tea
Myself and my husband were given this as gift for our wedding last year. At first I was worried about attending due to the fact that the first time we booked back in November, a mistake was made and it meant we couldn’t attend on the day we had intended to. Prior to this first experience we also had a look at the menu for afternoon tea on the website, as well as reading reviews. Both did little to alleviate my worries and upon arrival today I was convinced we wouldn’t eat half of the menu. Thankfully I was wrong! Aside from the fish based sandwiches everything was devoured with great pleasure by the both of us. The view from our table was as you would expect, a very damp city scape 😂. But in the summer I would say that this would be much improved with sunshine. The only slight niggle we had was the viewing platform they advertised. While I understand this was a rainy weekday in March and they had closed off a lot of the outdoor areas, the viewing platform is rather small. Just enough space for 6 people and only on one side of the building overlooking the river. Overall the experience was great considering how worried we were, the food was spot on not too much and enough for two people and the location is a classic icon.
Be the first to ReplyStunning view and wonderful food.
Visited just before Christmas. Was a beautiful view at night high up over the Thames. Really enjoyed the food and the staff were lovely. It’s pricey but I think it’s the kind of place that’s that worth it. The food was good quality and the plates weren’t small. Would recommend and would go back again.
Be the first to ReplyInedible starter
I have visited the brassiere at the OXO tower in the past on many occasions and always had an exemplary experience in terms of both service and food. However on this visit (7/3/23) I was serviced an inedible mullet & mushroom starter. I can’t imagine what happened but both elements were very tough, in fact it took all my effort to cut through a mushrooms with a knife. Moreover the Mullet had a horrible bitter taste and was extremely rubbery. In fairness, when pointed out to our server she had no problem in changing the dish for an alternative meat starter. However the dish was so weird I actually ask for an explanation from the kitchen as to what had happened but no information was provided. Unfortunately the experience left such a bad taste in my mouth. (literally) that the OXO Tower has now lost my loyalty for the foreseeable future but I’m mystified as to what I was served as it was truly inedible. Such a shame!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing…. Thanks to one member of staff
After arriving a couple of minutes late our coats were taken and we were told the table was running a few minutes behind. We were invited to sit at the bar and we did so, having our drinks and eventually being seated… after a half hour wait. Our water came and we waited a further half hour and didn’t receive our menus, so we were both very annoyed with the level of service we received. I called a member of staff and he genuinely apologised, offered us free drinks and bread, which we happily accepted. Service was from that moment on, second to none, the food was phenomenal and staff were friendly. Apart from the bump at the start, the overall experience was a 10. The name of said server that turned our night around was Mario or Harriet, my hearing is shocking. If he is the general manager then he is incredibly deserving of his position, and if he isn’t, then he deserves to be GM. I hope everyone reading this is lucky enough to be served by him.

After some extensive research to find a classy yet reasonably priced venue for my wife's birthday, I booked here. It was July 2022 and I thought I had reviewed, but not. There was 15 of us and we had a menu priced at £55.00 a head for three courses and a glass of prosecco on arrival. I had never been here, but my wife has and was delighted. Great views of the Thames and North Bank, St Paul's etc. The service was great. attentive and friendly with obvious care to ensure a good time. Food was really good and the choices was, if I recall correctly, about four item per course. So, plenty of choice for all. Everyone was full of praise and highly satisfied. It was a really enjoyable, relaxed occasion and the place was full with people having a good time. So, apologies for the late review and I would book again for a similar occasion.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent experience
It was my friends birthday albeit (29th February!) which does not exist unless it is a leap year. We had the winter set menu in the Brasserie, we had a glass of champagne in the bar then our table was ready. Our starter, main course and desert was superb. The waiters were attentive and made sure our wine was topped up. The view was fantastic. I will definitely come back again and a big thank you to the hard work of the chefs and everyone involved to make our experience special.
Be the first to ReplyA super venue
We had a birthday celebration at the Brasserie and it was excellent in all respects, the staff, the food and the venue

The view is stunning. Communication from the team and service great, and food is delicious. I would really recommend the hazelnut cheesecake....the best cheesecake I have ever had.
Be the first to ReplyDon’t bother
The food - as London restaurants go was tasty but very average. The service was appalling. It was a Friday evening, but the restaurant was only half full. It took 30 minutes to get tap water for the table ! Then when we chose wine they couldn’t find it !! We had three people order the same main course and one arrived with a very large portion, one with a normal size and one like a child’s meal. When questioned the staff were very defensive but never offered a change or anything to help. Would never go back again . Very poor value for money

The view is amazing! The food was excellent. Went for my daughters birthday. Everything was wonderful.
Be the first to ReplyBest Meal in a long time
Chose this restaurant for our (grown up) daughter's Birthday Lunch - and our party of 4 was unanimously impressed. As a couple we have experienced fine restaurants and food worldwide, so our standards are high. The menu was really great with lots of unusual twists and combinations, the cocktails and wines were excellent, as was the service. The view was grand (even though it poured with rain). It is worth noting that you cannot book a window table in advance - only request. Tables are allocated on a first come basis I was told - so perhaps early dining is worth considering? That said, most tables have a decent view. Highly recommended and we will revisit soon!
Be the first to ReplyEvening meal
Great setting great service great food and everyone looked after us and our young family. Good menu for the little ones and us older ones also serced delicious meal.
Be the first to ReplyCost not aligned with service unfortunately
Service we found as very average. Not very attentive, had to keep getting attention for extra drinks or refills of water. Trying to pay the bill I had to eventually get up & go to the till where I wasn’t acknowledged again until I had to make a point of saying does someone want to allow our table to pay the bill. In another restaurant at a more reasonable price I wouldn’t have minded but a £300plus meal you expect tip top service. It was also only a Monday noon so wasn’t particularly busy to justify the average service received. On a positive the food was very good & the restaurant is a lovely setting. Wouldn’t return unfortunately…
Be the first to ReplyAvoid the Afternoon Tea
My friend and I visited the Oxo restaurant on Thursday 21st July for Afternoon Tea. We chose Oxo for the views and, being from Australia, we were exited to have a traditionally great British experience. However, we did not have great experience, and left the venue feeling robbed and disappointed. To begin, we had to ask a member of the waiting staff to order after being seated for 15 minutes with no one taking our tea order. This didn’t dampen our excitement as sometimes mistakes happen, but the mistakes didn’t end there. Our food arrived- extremely dry sandwiches, a very peculiar/disgusting cucumber & coconut soup that was inedible for us both, dry cakes. After attempting to get our money’s worth by eating the food, 10 minutes passed and we hadn’t received our tea, so at this point it was just an Afternoon, without the Tea. After asking another member of staff about the whereabouts of the tea itself, it arrived at the table post-attempted consumption of food. Tried to numb the pain with a cocktail, which was poorly mixed and not pleasant. The only positive were the scones, actually delicious- however, we did have to ask for cream and jam as they didn’t come with the scones initially… Overall, will not return. Appalling service, staffing communication issues and mostly poor food quality. We left feeling cheated after collectively spending £130 on afternoon tea and 2 cocktails. We are big fans of Tesco meal deals and both agreed we’d rather the £130 was spent on 40 meal deals, much better value for money and would taste better.
Be the first to ReplyGreat views and welcoming customer service!
Only had drinks and a catch up with a friend. Lovely views across London and Blackfriars and lovely options to choose from. This is on the expensive side, but regardless it is a lovely place. Looked at menu and impressed with the vegan options, but will try those out next time.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful!
We had a wonderful time at OXO tower for my son’s graduation dinner. The waiter from Bulgaria, didn’t get his name was very knowledgeable about the gluten free menu that we needed for my son. We had a lovely table outside on the terrace. Service and the food were very good and they brought a dessert with congratulations on it for my son which was lovely! Will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyGo for the view not the food
Mediocre dinner. Tasteless mackerel, over-chilled burrata, bland bass, steak requested medium and served up rare, pea shoots and frisée everywhere, soggy chips. Great cocktails. Pretty awful live music. Lovely waitresses. Wouldn’t go again.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Birthday Lunch
Visited on 23/3 for my birthday lunch (25/3). It was a beautiful sunny day in London. Had a walk along the Southbank first bfre lunch @1230. Had req a window table and was granted my request. Thankyou for obliging. Started with some fizz. And then a btl of picpoul de pinet.Starters of: roasted beetroot, beef wasabi, tiger prawns. All delightful and well presented. Mains: roast salmon which was so moist and tasted great with the crab beurre blanc.i loved the samphire. Red wine lamb- truly excellent i am told. Cornfed chicken, again really loved by the diner.Desserts: orange cake with rhubarb- loved it. Milk choc tart, superb and a stickytoffee pudding- on which was written ' Happy Birthday' with a candle for me!! A lovely touch. Coffee after and a cocktail for the young lady. Great meal. Service spot on. Wasnt rushed. Lovely views over the Thames. Nice buzz in the brasserie, but not overbearing. What a wonderful experience.
Be the first to ReplyA bar to avoid, well everyone seems to now !!!
On a busy evening where we could not get space for a drink in central London as all the good bars were full, we tried our chance at the Oxo tower bar.
it was really easy to have a table as the bar was almost empty.
it kind of made us worry but we decided to give it a go.
Previous evenings had not gone great but then we had diner , this evening, we just wanted a round of drinks. Not that complicated I thought !!
Well, we were ignored for a good 15 minutes as staff were too busy with their mobiles..Once the drinks arrived, we noticed the sparkling cocktails were flat and the wine was lukewarm.
We drunk half of them and asked for the bill.
We challenged the server on the service charge who replied
' well, you can pay or not, I does not matter to me as I barely get any of it....'
The only great thing at the oxo is the view and the music....
One more thing, the toilets who were blocked.
Lovely food and excellent service
Had a great evening with a lifelong friend. The food was really good; well cooked and lovely flavours. The service from everyone was fabulous. Friendly & attentive throughout.
Be the first to ReplyLovely cocktails, tired setting
Booked in advance and got seated with a Thames View for a few drinks/cocktails. Although the cocktails were very nice and the view fantastic, I felt the place itself was tired in parts. The frontage beneath the main counter where they make the cocktails, has a large crack from top to bottom, the serving area where there are a large tub of nuts etc has a wooden countertop and cupboard underneath which is starting to show signs of wear and tear and the edging strips are coming away. Overall I liked the vibe but I cannot say I would definitely be rushing back
Sorry
Fantastic experience
Amazing, wonderful setting on top floor, view over Londen, the food is so delicious, attentive crew, no words to describe.
Would go back without hesitation!
Wife's 40th
Booked this restaurant for my wife's 40th. We were very impressed. Staff were very attentive without being intrusive, food was excellent and I ordered the birthday cake for my wife which was absolutely delicious! Setting is lovely and although we didn't get a window seat, we had a wonderful memorable evening.
Be the first to ReplyBirthday lunch
Nice venue very attentive staff, nice food from winter dining menu . Only issues were first wrong cocktail brought out but soon changed for corrrct one. I had preordered birthday cake to be brought out after desserts but waiter brought out dessert with candle and messaged pipes in plate and when I asked about cake said he was confused but it could be taken off bill? Bit annoying as has been emailing about cake for weeks as was for disabled sons birthday but couldn’t be bothered to make a fuss. Shame as otherwise would have been perfect. Oh yes and there is a hefty £20 service charge.
