Oxomoco Reviews from The Last Year
Excellent spot that lived up to the hype.
Ordered the ahi tostada and the chicken and would gladly get both again. Don't miss Oxomoco when in Greenpoint!

Just ventured to Greenpoint to check out the tacos, drinks and food at Oxomoco. John was our waiter and he took us on a culinary tasting adventure- he listened to what we liked, disliked, etc.. took the menu and with open arms ordered for us what he felt would pleasure our palettes. John is an extraordinary waiter who takes his expertise and knowledge plus your palette into consideration. The food was phenomenal- another level and take on your "taco". The drinks were well balanced and it was such a great experience. Thank you again. Can't wait to come back!
The food was great.
I had the tuna tostada with the lamb tacos and a spicy mango margarita. Both were spectacular. However, the service was not so great. It took about 15 for the waiter to come and see us and they only checked on us once throughout the stay. It may have been that they were short on staff, but I still expected a bit more for the price of the food. In conclusion, I'd return in hopes for better service.
Excellent food, excellent setup, typical Brooklyn vibes,
Excellent food, excellent setup, typical Brooklyn vibes, and a very cosy booth setup. Service is top notch, with a very attentive team. Food is definitely on an expensive side, and some of their tacos really live up to that price point. We tried a few appetizers including Oxomoco Guacamole ($19) and the Smoked Mango ($7). The mango lacked a spice kick, and was a little on the sweeter side. Couldn't really feel a smokey taste either. Would definitely visit again and will recommend to friends and family for some fancy Mexican food!
Party of 4 seated outside.
EXCELLENT service. This is a great spot - great cocktails and many items to share. Especially recommend the salsa with chips shrimp ceviche, and lamb barbacoa tacos. Damages with probably too many cocktails and tip was $315.
One of the best Mexican places in nyc (and this is coming
One of the best Mexican places in nyc (and this is coming from someone with a high standard from Texas!) Food -- We came here for brunch and got the chilaquiles, chips and salsa, and the spring pea tlayuda. Between the 2 of us, this was actually plenty of food! The tyaluda is a must get since it's super interesting, and the chips and salsa had great variety of salsas. I feel like we could have skipped on the chilaquiles, but it was still a great safe option Drinks - I got the horchata and this was one of the best horchatas I've had! My husband got the latte and he said it was very good as well Service - fast and attentive. Our waters were always filled and they did a great job at checking in without being overbearing Vegetarian friendly ? Yes! Lots of great vegetarian options and they can do a lot of interesting substitutes as well Ambiance - vibes were bright and airy - great spot to come for a date, with a group, with a big family etc. I liked that they had semi-circular booths for groups too Reservations? Yes definitely make some since this place gets crowded quickly!

Wow, this place is really as good as advertised, maybe better. Service is very good, drinks are on point and except one dish, every single thing that came out was spectacular, I mean bond delicious. Super fresh fish and the steak is huge hit. Must get the Caesar salad, Tuna, shrimp tostada, artichoke taco and any of the desserts. One of the two we ordered was seasonal, and a perfect 10. Cold crushed strawberries with a green sweet purer from a tree. Not sure what it was, but I know one thing, we could have ordered 5 more, it was that good. Can't wait to be back. Amazing meal.
For a Michelin star restaurant, the food fell flat
For a Michelin star restaurant, the food fell flat especially for the price. Also I'm not sure what we ate but my friend and I who split everything started to get stomach pains after we ate...so take that for what you will if you have plans afterwards. Frozen recuerdame: 9/10 this drink was probably the best thing we had. It is quite large so you may want to share. Only one thing I would change is the straw length. I'm not sure why the straw is so long compared to the glass and it made it awkward to drink out of. Spring pea tlayuda: 2/10 honestly I got this bc of the raving reviews for it and I regret suggesting it to my friends to try. It wasn't anything amazing and I don't think it's worth the price Swordfish tacos: 7/10 this was pretty good but for the price I expected it to be a lot better especially for two tacos. Soft shell crab tacos: 5/10 the crab was crispy which I liked but again I don't think it's worth the price. (I feel like one of the tacos caused the stomach upset so tbh the ratings would be a lot lower if I knew exactly which one it was) Service: 5/10 It was just ok. However, I thought it was odd that the waitress kept egging us on to order more. And when I asked if we can just order more afterwards she just said it'll be a 45 min to 1 hour wait if we order later. I'm not sure why a Michelin star restaurant would take that long to serve dishes ordered a bit later but I'm happy we decided not to order more food. Overall, I wouldn't recommend and wouldn't return.
Phenomenal!! Excellent everything.
The service was impeccable and the food was an experience and so unique! The flavors kept me on my toes! We'll definitely be back.
I made a reservation for a party of 7 on a weekend.
I loved how spacious the restaurant felt with ample space in between parties. The cocktails were jumbo size unlike the food. It was a bit more expensive than expected for tostadas and tacos. The chips came with many different salsas of varying spice level. The guacomole was as expected. The tostadas were fresh but cost over 20 dollars for one. The spring pea tlayuda was surprisingly good and unique. I've never had anything like it before. The tacos were good but on the more expensive side given the fancier protein used like soft shell crab and sword fish. The soft shell crab tacos were over 30 dollars so it was 15/taco. I wish there were more toppings on the tacos to complement the protein more. Glad we tried it but not sure if the tacos were memorable enough to draw us back.
Only wish we could have eaten more!
On a foodie trip to New York my husband and I wanted to include some Mexican and this restaurant kept coming up in all our searches. Even though it was a bit of a trek, we decided to risk it. And we’re so glad we did. Lovely atmosphere, lovely staff, great drink selection. And the food was delicious - fresh, interesting, tasty…. Being a party of 2 meant we couldn’t try as much as we wanted (we did our best though!) but what we had was excellent. Definitely worth a visit!
Before I begin I'd like to preface this with I NEVER write
Before I begin I'd like to preface this with I NEVER write reviews and I NEVER tip under 15%. I used to work in the restaurant industry as a waiter and bartender. I have great respect for those who work in the service industry. However, I can say without a doubt this was the WORST service experience of my life. This was a special restaurant booked for my best friends birthday. The food was decent but underwhelming for a Michelin star restaurant. Especially coming from my friend who is from Tampico, Tamaulipas, MX and lives in Austin, TX. But the real kicker was the service. We had the 3 different servers over the course of our meal. The first was extremely pleasant and nice. The second was rude and condescending but nothing near as infuriating as the 3rd server. And had the it just been the first two servers I wouldn't have been angry enough to write a review or leave such a poor tip. Now to the 3rd server: the blonde, flamboyant server with glasses. He could not have been more rude and condescending if he was a prison guard at a maximum security prison. The first server misheard me and brought the wrong drink. Which I drank and didn't say anything because I'm terrified to send things back. But when I ordered a second drink I made sure that she was sending the correct drink over in a very polite manner. However, when the 3rd server asked if I wanted another drink which I said yes and specified the correct order. I then watched the bartender make the wrong drink 15 ft away from me. When he brought it over I specified if it was the correct drink and asked for the correct one very politely. He very rudely rolled his eyes and walked away. Up until this point everything was fine with me. I then watched and listened to him and the bartender complain and roll their eyes about me while I started directly at them to make them aware I could hear them. I do not complain often. But ridiculing me and complaining about me while I am in earshot and within eyesight is unacceptable. At the very least have the courtesy to go into the back room and complain. We were all severely disappointment with this restaurant. And while everything else (the food, location, presentation, timing of the course's) was all very poor, it was the service in the end that brought me to write this review. I am absolutely certain that you can find a better Mexican restaurant in the city and am completely perplexed how they obtained a Michelin star.
Good ambiance.
Great creative menu. Their drinks are amazing and the service is on Par.

I am happily able to say I have been here twice for their Michelin star experience. We tried I believe all their tacos!! Believe it or not my fav was the beet tacos.. my least fav was the lamb, a little too gamey for me. Drinks were good and they offered diff types of tequila for the margaritas. If you can get a reservation, give it a try!!
The appetizers were good, but the entrees were
The appetizers were good, but the entrees were disappointing for Michelin restaurant. The chips and salsa appetizer and guacamole were great to try. The variety of salsas offered were great from mild to spicy. The homemade chips were perfectly crisp and delicious. The service was slow and the tacos were mediocre. Swordfish tacos were the best and the maitake mushroom tacos were disappointing as they had an extremely burt taste. The drinks are batch made, so changes are not easy to make.
An amazing meal, I can absolutely see why this place has a
An amazing meal, I can absolutely see why this place has a Michelin star. We ordered a ton of stuff off the menu and pretty much everything was an absolute knock out. Another wordy review you ask? Yes- Here's what I got and also what I recommend: - Chips and Salsa: Not your typical run of the mill salsa & sauces. This is a fine curated selection of 6 different sauces to suit your taste buds. Each vary in texture, composition and taste. The darkest green being the mildest and then counter clockwise until you get to the most heat. My friend and I both seemed to favor the third salsa which felt more like a glaze. Pro tip is to make sure to save some of the salsas for adding to eat plate you get during your meal to customize each dish. (Highly recommend) - Mango with lime: While I enjoyed this snack in its execution and simplicity, this isn't a "must get". It was definitely delicious and I'm glad we ordered this for the table, but if you're looking at your budget and need to cut down somewhere, start here. I agree that these are better than the TJ version (by far). This would be a good option if you wanted to pop in and sit at the bar, have a snack and a drink as opposed to adding onto a full meal. (Good, not do or die.) - SOYA MARINATED TUNA TOSTADA: this was incredibly well seasoned, fresh and bright. I loved the addition of the radish to add some additional texture and softer crunch to the light tuna. A hint of spice but toned down with the avocado/radish combo. (Highly recommend) - SWEET POTATO TLAYUDA: Here's where things get tricky- if you ask me, this was good but not mind blowing BUT if you asked my friend who joined me for dinner, they'd mention that this was one of their favorite parts of the meal. Don't get me wrong, it was creamy and mild in flavor and was a nice contrast for our courses because this was more subdued, but I would have preferred a bit more salt or cheese-y flavor to elevate this. (Good, not do or die.) - LAMB BARBACOA TACOS: As soon as you bite into this your taste buds tingle. I loved the bbq styled meat. It was almost like pulled pork but not that flavor. Paired with the 3rd (glaze like) salsa, this was amazing. -SWORDFISH TACOS: This was the table favorite. I had never had swordfish before and I am so glad that this was my first experience. The texture was so unique- a cross between really moist/tender chicken and almost haloumi like (but not flavor wise). These had a beautiful smoky grilled char on them. Mixed with the creamy labneh and onions, this was a masterpiece. (Highly recommend, a must order.) - Carrot Cake: In theory this sounded like a nice way to round out this stand out meal but this was the only item we ordered that I wish we didn't. The cake was dry- something I found odd because I feel like that's a sure-fire win with carrot cake. The mole topping was good and the dollop of cream made it better but I'd definitely pass on this or go with a different dessert selection. Drinks: I got the Mariachi, which I loved even though I'm not a huge mezcal fan. It was very refreshing. My friend got the guava marg and this was more mild in flavor but they ordered two, so I think they enjoyed it. Service was amazing. I didn't catch our server's name, but she was so friendly and personable. She offered feedback on our selections when asked and also provided her opinions on what to try from the menu. My friend had even accidently spilled salsa on his white shirt and she brought over a tide to go pen- that was so sweet. Overall ambiance is great. I love the airy, tall ceilings, beige/creamy scenery mixed with green plants. Very clean borderline boho. They offer a decent amount of seating both inside and in their (for now, covered) patio, including round booth seating for larger parties. The bathroom was also super cute (random) because there is a mini disco ball inside- lol, it's the little things. A great meal at a great restaurant. 4.7/5
Lovely atmosphere, good service, and fun experience sitting
Lovely atmosphere, good service, and fun experience sitting at the chef's counter. The food is amazing! The smoky tomatoes add a unique flavor to the guacamole. The smoked trout and tuna tostada were really interesting. The smoked trout tostada was a fun plan on lox and cream cheese and the tuna tostada really married Asian and Mexican flavors so well. The tacos were some of the best tacos I have ever had. Perfectly cooked lamb and swordfish, the sauces brunch everything together, and the corn tortilla is incredibly well-made.
This place gets pretty crowded.
Came here for brunch, and I liked the ambiance, service, and the food. It's a bit on the pricier side, but the food is tasty, so it's worth it. The tacas were delicious but super oily, so if you're watching your waste or trying to be healthy, this may not be a good option. If you're looking for taste, then this is sooooo worth it. I got the lamb and steak taco, and they were both delicious. The steak taco was the best. The tuna tostada was delicious. You get a lot of tuna! I couldn't have dessert because I was full but they looked really good

Great vibe and ambience - Super Great Creative Menu and dishes - Friendly and professional service . All ingredients fresh. Looking forward to next visit if I can score a reservation. My only complaint- useless and unanswered phone system protocols. Hire someone for the front- or get your phone system working for customers.
It's fine if you want to over pay for 2 tacos.
Better tacos in the neighborhood elsewhere. Nice spot for a special date though & I enjoyed my cocktail.
My real rating is 4.
5 but that's not an option. My friend and I came here since we love checking out upscale restaurants but Greenpoint doesn't have many open on a Tuesday. I kept my expectations low since I'm a foodie and I've never heard of Oxomoco. I was pleasantly surprised with the food quality and the creative spin on Mexican food. We got the chips and salsa, the soya marinated tuna tostada, and the grilled maitake tacos. The chips and salsa was a spread of different salsa and house made chips that you break apart. I really enjoyed the tasting aspect of this since the salsas ranged from mild to spicy. The soya marinated tuna tostada was an absolute winner. It's the item I would come back here for. It's best shared between two people. I think it's too small to shared with 3-4 people. The maitake tacos were good but I probably wouldn't get them again unless I was with a vegetarian. I only say that because of all the dishes we tried, it was the most forgettable. It was still executed to perfection and I wouldn't turn it down. Overall I would definitely come back to Oxomoco for the unique Mexican food!
A wonderful creative restaurant
I loved this restaurant! I was taken here by my brother, who lives nearby. What I loved so much was the originality of the menu. And what I loved most of all was the chicken entree. Quite possibly the best chicken I have ever had. Huge portions all around--we had 3 appetizers and one entree and we were stuffed. No room for dessert. Just a lovely meal with unusual offerings.
Good taco place but a Michelin star ?
A Mexican restaurant that makes a decent effort to be creative. However it baffles me that Michelin granted a star for this.I wonder if they have to reach a certain quote in handing out stars…. Taco’s were fine and original, the chicken signature dish was sadly a disappointment ( undercooked) and the curd dessert with black sesame was fascinatingly inedible. I kept on trying but to no avail. The table service was efficient , friendly and helpful. However , if we wouldn’t have read the reviews in advance, we would have walked away at the reception.Arrogant & ice cold attitude by one of the ladies . Luckily her colleagues took over once she was not on the stand

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.
Love this app!
So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
