Would never return.
What a disappointment! There was not enough staff to help deliver luggage, so we dragged out bags up several flights of stairs to our room, and repeated the same the following day for checkout. You would expect extra staff would be on hand knowing there were a lot of passengers coming in a day early for the Windstar cruise. The room was nice, but the floor dirty. Our feet were black from walking around the unit barefoot. The AC in our room was too noisy to run. Not at all good value for the money we paid. The only redeeming thing was dinner on the patio. The food was very good and the staff there pleasant.

This was our first visit to OBBR. We went with some good friends who have a timeshare there. It was an amazing trip and made that way because of the great employees. First, the main bar by the Pool. What a fantastic crew. Dave, Edith and Wanda were so personable, friendly, and great bartenders. They made us feel welcomed and took great card of us. Next, the Veranda. From the boss, Oscar, to Justine the bartender and servers, Crystal and Shbailey, we were highly satisfied. The food served at the Veranda was excellent, especially the Rotisserie Chicken and Bom Bom Shrimp. Justine makes some fine shots!!! Finally I want to say thanks to Jamie in the Market. She was so friendly and went out of her way to make sure my wife got her Monster Energy Drinks. Thanks to all the staff there for making my wife’s Birthday trip an enjoyable and memorable one!!!

Trying to be objective. pros: beautiful property between an inlet called Oyster Pond looking out toward mountainous St. Barth. The pool area is nice but small although they put up two loud, ugly and dated waterfalls that block the view. (You’ll have to chose between that white noise or piped in music elsewhere around the pool) The view - where you can see it, is incredible. There’s a small beach a walk away ( although for some weird reason there’s a steady stream of brown seaweed you can see heading toward the beach) still nice enough. With umbrellas and chairs. It’s on the East coast of the Island away from everything but just a short walk from the French side and a great Pizza Place (Mamas- talking NY quality) and a French bakery and bistro. You do need a car or you are beholden to expensive taxis or side trips sponsored by resort. Cons: no guarantee or even a good chance you will get a room facing the ocean. They gave us a fourth- floor walk up ( we’re older but spry but that daily up and down would have killed our knees). When we complained they gave us a second floor “marina view” of the parking lot and inlet. We didn’t spend a large amount of time in the room but we certainly would have enjoyed ourselves more had we won the view lottery. Don’t bother talking to the desk - unlike every other worker here who couldn’t be nicer they were trained to be rude and to stand their ground. I’m sure we were not the only ones to complain. And then there are the extra fees over the trade or daily rate - $50 plus $12/day utility charge. Our room - aside from the view - was nice for 1985 - but comfortable the bathroom was a little better, maybe 1995. The place is very clean but needs to be renovated. The place is pretty small. The restaurant is just OK but tres cher, as they say in these .. parts. The Island. While I’d give the resort 3 1/2 stars I’d give the island 4. People couldn’t be nicer. The views are incredible and the water beautiful and clear, so much nicer than say, Aruba. Everything is 15-30 minutes away. We went to Mullett Bay and Orient Bay. Both a little busy but beautiful. And took a day trip to Anguilla where the beach was even prettier, and was much less crowded but there is little to do but sit on the beach. We were going to take the trip to St Barth but my wife was too afraid of getting sea sick on way there. She regrets it now. We ended up spending three nights at Grand-Case on the Northwest corner of the Island . Cute little town with incredible French restaurants. Also very expensive but hey you’re on vacation. Great food. Try Ocean 82 or Nice SXM. BTW the French supermarkets here are stocked and reasonable. If you stay here you can take care of all you breakfast and lunch need, plus head to French bakery for baggettes or croissants there a little store on site with limited selection but convenient on the walk to the beach where there is a bar looking at at the ocean.
Be the first to ReplyAverage hotel experience
A very typical place for retired Americans (and a few others) - not a very fun place for young, nor middle-aged. Rather pushy when it comes to convincing you Timeshare is the(!) thing… Had a dialogue on email prior to our arrival where we asked for help to book a rental car; no reply, even when we repeatedly asked for help, no reply - and upon arrival… no car. Also, be aware; there will be different vendors presenting their offerings, such as boat trips. If you book through the hotel, they charge you a 20% fee! Book directly with the vendors! Good convenient store on site; lovely fresh croissants and baguettes every morning. Typical hotel restaurants with equally typical prices and quality.
Be the first to ReplyDon’t book this terrible place!
This is probably the worst resort we have stayed at. Our room was located above the bar and therefore I didn’t sleep for 2 nights. When I inquired about changing rooms I was told that they were full. This is was a lie, as a person in our party was immediately relocated. We advanced booked a dinner reservation yet were only allowed a buffet. The service was terrible and the check in staff were rude. The hotel is old and tired! A $3 was charged for bottled water in the room, however the lids were cracked and obviously replenished. DONT STAY HERE,
Be the first to ReplyGood and bad
The physical Resort is nice, the rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff was half and half: half were helpful and enjoyable to work with the other half were disinterested, didn't want to be bothered and sometimes rude. The pool was lovely however entirely too small for the amount of rooms that they have. It was a constant struggle to find a location for all of us to sit together. The people who own timeshares there definitely get treated differently than people just visiting. We do not plan to return.
Be the first to ReplyTreated Rudely
Stay with my family in January the rooms are very nice and comfortable. I traded through interval, and it seems like I ran into this before. If you’re an owner, you’re treated differently than if you are trading . The girl Lucy around the pool was extremely bossy and snotty to us but the people I know were owners there. She was very sweet sitting on there chairs chitchatting having a good time.. The maids were awesome took very good care of us, very polite, and kind. I have no plans of ever going back there not just due to the way I was treated but also there’s so far away from everything. Their prices are quite high also.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect for a pre-cruise stay!
I booked 8 rooms for a 1-night pre-cruise stay, based on recommendations from Windstar. All of the rooms were very nice, with many amenities: King bed, large bathroom, separate sitting and dining areas, small kitchen w/ coffee maker, and a small balcony. Some of our travelers were single women who previously did not know each other, so they were taken aback because there were no available rooms with separate beds. This was an oversight on my part, and my guests were very understanding. The service at the bar and restaurant was very good, The breakfast buffet was a bit expensive @ $25, but there is a separate restaurant w/ an a la carte menu. The pool area is very nicely decorated, w/ comfortable lounge chairs and tables w/ umbrellas.
Be the first to ReplyResevation Staff / Timeshare
The reservation staff members that deal with timeshare exchanges are incredibly rude. Let me repeat myself, INCREDIBLY RUDE! I have talked with three different people, all of whom behave as if your call is an annoyance and have little patience in answering your questions. Maybe if they should consider allowing the timeshare deposit or booking to be done online it would be a better experience.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Resort!!
We stayed Mar 12-16, 2023, the resort is top notch, the staff are friendly, overall service was great, the food is better than average, better than most resorts I’ve been to, Infinity restaurant is nice but we preferred Veranda restaurant (a little less pricey & different offerings), they have a Mexican food night. The beds are so comfortable! Slept great! We had 2 King beds, 2 room suite ocean view, huge room. Pool is clean and nice temp, hot tub is clean and hot! Ample parking. Gym is decent and has the essentials, I used it twice. The beach is nice but there is seaweed washing up, they clean it up every morning. There are lots of padded beach chairs and umbrellas (no charge). You gotta order pizza from ‘Mamas Pizza’ they deliver to the resort, it’s 5/5 wood fire oven baked. We rented a car, best beach was Mullet Bay Beach, BIG waves and no seaweed. Sadly Cupecoy beach is gone to the ocean, Orient Beach was decent, medium waves, some seaweed. My only beef was traffic can be bad at times, some days it was fine though. North side of the island is more peaceful and nice scenic drive, watch out for goats, chickens, pigs, lizards and dogs roaming the roads lol!!
Be the first to ReplyOne Week Is Not Enough!
One glorious week in paradise is just not enough! The weather was perfect, the food delicious, the rooms beautiful and enough can’t be said about the friendly and helpful staff. The Infinity pool is beautiful and spacious, the ocean views fabulous! Thirsty? David is sure to create a tasty beverage just for you. Hungry? Meals/drinks can be served poolside, in the courtyard or in the Infinity Restaurant for a more upscale atmosphere. Or dine at the Veranda Market & Bistro for a cozy, casual experience. Unfortunately, the seaweed keeps increasing. Oyster Bay is not responsible for Mother Nature. The beach itself is still lovely. Seaweed is removed daily from the beach. along the water’s edge. That said, it is still possible to enjoy a day at Dawn Beach under the palm trees with lounge chairs and beach umbrellas provided free of charge. We did swim in the ocean a few days. Other days we read on the beach and swam in the pool. No problem. We did not rent a car this time and enjoyed a low key, relaxing vacation. Dionelle & Phillip at registration are great. Special shout out to Cristal, Yanet & Jamie at the Veranda Bistro. David & Elizabeth at the Infinity Bar, Anias at the beach, Juan for driving us to the airport and Danny 007 for driving us from the airport. Thank you for making our stay so much more!

The property is beautiful and the atmosphere is great. Pool side is a great relaxing day of sun bathing not a lot of kids here. Rooms are clean and comfortable and food is good and its a safe place to stay.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Resort for 50+ Couples
Great little resort nestled on the border of the French/Dutch side. Super friendly staff with a robust activity schedule. Well outfitted rooms with daily cleaning service. Great live music several times throughout the week. New market/restaurant-Veranda- is lovely with super reasonable prices. Demographic is definitely 50+ — not much for the kiddos here. Pool is small and chairs can be challenging to find at times. Lovely nearby beaches on the French side.
Be the first to ReplyHotel offered tours
We arrived at the hotel after a canceled flight - the hotel is nice, the food is good and the view is charming. We are very satisfied with the hotel. But there is one but .... since the rescheduled flight was in the evening, we decided to take a tour of the island, which cost 150 dollars for a 4-hour private tour. We checked out of the hotel before 11am, went on a tour with all our suitcases (we were supposed to be dropped off at the airport after the tour). The beginning was promising until the moment when the driver/guide said that he doesn't do 4-hour excursions (max 3 hours)..... ok, you won't do much, we enjoyed the excursion (beautiful views and interesting reptiles), as usually the excursionists stop and have lunch, then we asked can we stop at a place where you can taste the local rum. We stopped at the toppers house - where we had a local gelato and rum tasting - after 15 minutes the driver comes and says that he has to pick up people from the airport, brings our belongings and leaves saying that another driver will pick us up and take us to the airport... 4 hour tours as a result place we got a 2 hour 35 min ride, we were given to the third driver. If the single-family house offers excursion services to its customers, it would be nice to at least fulfill the promise (we only visited half of the island's coast). A little bitterness
Be the first to ReplyFriendly, hard-working staff
This was our first time on the island, and we stayed here on a timeshare exchange. Per its website, Oyster Bay Beach Resort is indeed a “friendly resort on a friendly island.” The staff here is wonderful and strives to give you an amazing experience…it’s because of them that I give the resort 4 stars and not 3. The resort itself is dated, and unfortunately our room was super dated…it definitely needs some attention and was a big negative for us. (One positive is that they cleaned it daily.) But overall, we had a good time, enjoyed our visit, had fun in the sun at the beach and the pool, and liked touring around the tiny island. I’d like to give a special “shout out” to Gray, one of the beach attendants. He worked hard to provide quality service throughout our stay. He also served as our “taxi driver” on his days off, taking us to Orient Beach and back, and to Grand Case and back. We highly recommend him for transportation, if he’s available. Also, all the bartenders (especially David) and servers get a thumbs up. We received great service with big smiles, and I’ll add that food and drink prices were very reasonable.

Beautiful location in lovely St Maarten. We thought our 1BR room was nicely furnished. We had a pond view vs an ocean view and ended up being grateful due to how windy it was ocean side. It was on the third floor and there was no elevator. For some people this would have been difficult but we were fine and had help with luggage at check in and check out. We ordered groceries and provisions ahead of time and that worked great! We liked the property and loved the people who worked there - super friendly and gracious. We dined on the property frequently and thought the food was delicious though at times it took a long time. The pool area is lovely with good clean water at a great temperature. We didn't use the beach due to the sargassum seaweed. It was cleared at one time but we were off property that day. I know the seaweed situation is Caribbean wide and is a hardship to many resorts so I don't hold that against OBBR. The one thing I would clearly state to management is that they need to hire either more bartenders or bar-backs. One night it took 40 minutes to get a drink. The bartenders at the two bars are very hardworking but they simply cannot keep up. The resort is losing a lot of revenue on drinks people can't get. We gave up twice and went to get drinks and dinner off property. We found great restaurants on the French side of the island nearby with easy taxi transportation to and from the resort. We had a lovely time and enjoyed our stay.
Be the first to ReplyRelaxing and fun trip
We went in February with another couple and in a 2 bedroom condo. The place overall isn’t super luxurious but I liked it and it had everything we needed. We had a big balcony and plenty of space inside (you’re not really inside that much anyway). Things to be aware of: the pool is very busy, go out early and save a seat. The beach (bc of the date we went) has lots of seaweed on it and can be weird to swim in if that bothers you. I swam in it twice and once you got through the first couple waves it was fine. It’s nice bc the beach isn’t very busy. The convenient store, called Veranda, on site has a lot of items and you might not even have to go to the grocery store, the prices are fair as well. We also ate breakfast there 3 times and it was very good. I had lunch at the pool twice and it was very good as well, we never ate dinner anywhere on site. There’s lots of French restaurants we went too for that. Rent a car! There’s not much around OBBR so if you plan on exploring you will definitely want a car. We went to friars beach twice and loved it but didn’t make it to many other beaches to swim. We went to Orient bay and grand case for dinner (best dinner places) and only saw the beach, they definitely looked nice. Bring cash bc there’s lots of beach bars that only accept cash and also tip cash at restaurants. Don’t expect to have a fast dinner. It’s very European in terms of dining. It’s an experience and is not meant to be rushed. You will probably have to ask for the check bc they never bring it, that’s normal. Everyone working is straight forward and chill, try to match their energy or you will not have fun. There’s a great restaurant for take out or eat in very close by called Mama’s. We are there 3 times and it’s the best pizza and pasta. Bring a Yeti or other drink cup to keep your beverages cold while sitting in the sun. Bring reusable bags with you to the grocery store or you’ll have to buy them. Hope all that helps!

We stayed in a studio room that was totally adequate. We had a nice balcony overlooking the marina and enjoyed coffee out there in the morning. There is a small table with two chairs inside for dining and a kitchenette with two burners, microwave, and full size fridge. We used the grill outside in our courtyard almost every night. The French side has a great market called Super U. We preferred the over the Dutch market. The resort also has a small store that is reasonably priced. We enjoyed the beach right at the resort and also went to the amazing beaches around the island. Staff are top notch. Make sure you hit the two for one happy hour from four to six.

Be the first to ReplyEnjoying St Maarten
Lovely, quiet location on St Maarten. Our one bedroom condo had been recently redecorated and was very nice and had a "cheery" and welcoming feeling. The front desk personnel were very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed two dinners at Infinity and Veranda with good food and reasonable prices. The onsite Veranda Market is well stocked for it's size. Car rental is onsite as well. We both had excellent massages at the spa. We will be back next year.

We had a great visit here. It was a time share exchange and so amazing. Pool was great. Staff friendly. Loved the 2 for 1 happy hour drinks with David. The food was very good. Nice and quiet on this side. but island small enough can get anywhere with our rental car.
Beds were very comfortable. Plenty of towels as needed for the ocean.
We stopped at Carrefour for groceries on way from the airport.
Beach was not great - tons of sea weed, but out of control of the hotel. Free flipper use for snorkeling. Pool was wonderful. Great relaxing stay.
We would absolutely stay here again.
Oyster Bay Beach Resort is your home away from home
We love Oyster Bay Beach Resort. We have been owners there since 1997. Their staff is great and some of the same people have worked there since we bought. The pool and beach are great! The restaurants and bars are very good.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful Week at Oyster Bay Beach Resort
We arrived as scheduled into SXM and picked up a rental car and stopped at Cost-U-Less for a few groceries before finding our way over to Oyster Bay Beach Resort. Check in was simple and easy and one of the attendants helped us to our room. We had a studio room with a small kitchenette with a wonderful view of the ocean. There is nothing like the sound of the waves and a terrific ocean breeze. Temperatures were a consistent 85/77 degrees all week.
We found the accommodations to be perfect for a couple staying fo the week. When vacationing, we like to explore the surrounding areas, meet the people, participate in activities and get the flair for the culture. Therefore, we didn't use too many of the resort amenities except when coming back from dinner for the evening and taking a swim in the infinity pool or enjoying the hot tub.
We found the room very clean upon arrival and the housekeeping staff was very polite and attentive. The bed, linens, towels and pillows were very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with modern dish ware and cooking utensils.
A few previous reviewers mentioned something about a septic smell. Honestly, we didn't smell a thing at the resort, and I wouldn't even know if they had a septic system and/or where it was.
Dawn Beach is just adjacent to the resort and we spent a few days relaxing there for the afternoon. The attendants were very helpful setting up loungers and umbrellas. The seaweed did come in a few days, but each morning it was scraped away. The resort cannot control weather, or ocean conditions or wind, so it is not appropriate to be critical for something out of their control. In fact we went to Orient Bay Beach one day, and they had as much or more seaweed on the shore as others. It comes and goes.
The staff were very accommodating and friendly and ready to help if you had any questions or requests. They also assisted us with our required COVID-19 tests upon departing.
Overall, we really enjoyed the resort, the facilities and the people we met during our visit and hope to visit again soon.
Disappointing Beach
Stayed a week and rooms were average . Most on site employees were very nice and pleasant. Cleaning people did a good job every day. Food at both the infinity restaurant and veranda was good and reasonably priced. Happy hour every evening was great, but make sure your drink is one that is included.
Beach had heavy seaweed everyday and while they removed every morning it was back on the beach within and hour. Makes it difficult to swim or snorkel as the seaweed is in the ocean all the time. Had talked to some locals and they said Dawn beach has this issue all the time but it does get a little better and then worse again. Resort said it comes and goes. Not sure who to believe, but it was there for the seven days we stayed.
Also do not want to be near waste treatment facility as it does have an odor all the time.
Fantastic Resort
Loved this resort. Beautiful infinity pool. Good food and cocktails on resort property. The Spa massage was excellent. The staff are very friendly and professional. The condos are well equipped and nicely decorated. The beach part was neat but did have large amount of seaweed. My husband enjoyed snorkeling here. I would stay here again.
