Oyster Oyster Washington Reviews from The Last Year
Great vegetarian michelin restaurant! Almost all of the
Great vegetarian michelin restaurant! Almost all of the dishes served here are vegetarian with the exception of an oyster that they serve during the first course. Th oyster was dressed with kimchi juice, the kimchi juice was very fresh and not fermented enough for my liking, thus I think you're not missing anything if you were to skip the oyster. They have a vegan option as well which many people opted in to. We were very full by the end of the meal! Our favorite dishes were the broccoli bread and the asparagus with ramps, this was to die for! Second favorite was the pumpkin seed gnocchi which was very hearty and filling (served with a fennel salad on top so it was very well balanced). Since it was my birthday, they gave me a bowl of little porcelain mushrooms which I was able to pick one and take home with me! The chefs serve and introduce the dishes to you so you get the most detail about the dishes which was a great touch.

As a long time vegan (9 years), I was so excited to try this place. It's not everyday that you get to enjoy this kind of dining experience (tasting menu, beverage pairings, etc) as a vegan or vegetarian. I was incredibly disappointed. First, they source locally to their own detriment. For example, they don't use citrus in house because it doesn't grow locally. Instead, they use tons of lemon verbena. The flavor profile of the tasting menu was very limited for this reason. Almost everything was flavored with either fennel or ginger (and always too much of it) and almost every juice with the N/A drink pairing was some form of apple juice. Imagine being served anywhere from 8-10 juices that are all the same color!!! By the third apple juice/cider/kombucha, we felt like we were being Punk'd. Second, for a place called Oyster (mushroom) Oyster, I was shocked at how few times mushrooms or oysters appeared on the menu. The one dish that did prominently feature mushrooms--the pumpkin seed gnocchi with mushroom ragout--was perhaps the worst thing we tasted, not to mention the awful texture of a gnocchi made from seeds instead of the traditional potato and flour. How this place earned a Michelin star is beyond me. Certainly not worth $500!
We had a similar experience as one of the other 2* rated
We had a similar experience as one of the other 2* rated reviews. While dinner, including tax and a 22% service charge is prepaid, drinks are not. When my wife was presented the bill for her two glasses of wine, she wasn't informed that it already included the same 22% service charge that applied to our meals. Without scrutinizing the credit card slip, she added an additional gratuity. The failure by the server to mention the service charge was an act of deception. Customers out to enjoy a nice meal shouldn't have to scrutinize credit card statements for these types of charges. As a counterpoint, servers at two much more modestly-priced restaurants we visited recently went out of their way to point out similar service charges. We wish we'd given them the extra few $$ that went to our server at OysterOyster. P.S. - We contacted the restaurant asking for an explanation, but five days later haven't received a response. P.S.S. - The food is very good, but the price point - about $350 all in for dinner for two before drinks - makes this the kind of place only a serious - and wealthy - foodie will visit frequently.
Amazing from start to finish! Such an incredible experience.
..and I mean experience. The food was creative and delicious, the service personal and thoughtful...we just felt good when we left.
I am truly a pick eater so anytime I'm able to do a full
I am truly a pick eater so anytime I'm able to do a full tasting menu with no worries about having eating restrictions I jump at the opportunity. Oyster Oyster has such a carefully crafted menu for vegans and vegetarians alike. The only element that is not vegan is the oyster they serve as one of the tasting elements. Other than that, it is truly a vegan person's heaven. So much fresh vegetables cooked in ways I literally could not have dreamed up. The Gnocchi mushroom dish served with the broccoli bread was my absolute favorite part of the menu. The bread was served with marigold butter that absolutely blew my mind. Do yourself a favor and also try the Non Alcoholic tasting menu to accompany your dish as it was such a great way to get more fresh juices and tonics to accompany the meal. I highly highly recommend this place to everyone and a round of applause to their excellent service as well.

Theres a parking garage right next door so we didnt have any issues finding a parking spot. A smaller space than expected so if you do show up early, you'll likely have to wait outside or take a quick walk around the block like we did. When we did come back, our table was still being prepared but that was probably the bumpiest part of the evening. A quiet and quaint little space, it was definitely cozy. They have mocktails and wine but only 2 options for beer which was a little disappointing but the wine recommended ended up being perfect for me. The food was definitely the highlight and I was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful and amazing everything was. I really loved the lions mane and we were all very full by the end of the night. We were sent home with a copy of the menu and my mother in law got a little keepsake for her birthday. I would definitely recommend coming here to try something a little different than the other Michelin restaurants and just in general!
My husband and I are big meat eaters, but we really enjoyed
My husband and I are big meat eaters, but we really enjoyed their vegetarian-predominant menu. At $135/person, you can choose between an all-vegetarian menu or to substitute one of the amuse bouches with a raw oyster (the seafood kind). I am not a fan of raw oysters, so opted for the all-vegetarian menu. Each course had unique flavors and textures. It was really fun to try foods from different preparations. For a restaurant that serves mostly seasonal fungi and vegetables, I was not expecting so many preserved vegetables. They all tasted good, so no complaints there. With the multiple courses, the meal was actually pretty filling. The most unique item I saw there? The oyster shell candles.

This was my first fancy Michelin experience, and it was a meal I'll never forget! Came here to celebrate my birthday and was left speechless after some of the courses. The staff were accommodating to a T. The music was great, the vibe was great. The staff were extremely poised and knowledgeable. A fantastic experience as a vegetarian. They do things with vegetables I didn't know were possible.

I really enjoyed this place! The service staff were some of the best I've ever encountered and I really enjoy the detailed explanations of each dish. I opted for the all Vegan experience and I didn't feel as if I was losing out with the few adjustments they made to a few dishes. Oddly enough one of my favorite dishes was this side of beans with Vegan cheese, I'm not sure I've ever had beans cooked with that much flavor. I appreciate that they had a non alcoholic drink pairing, it really added to the experience. I'm not a huge mushroom fan, but I was seriously blown away by the main dish at the end. The mushroom was so much like steak in taste and texture, I'd say it's probably the closest I've seen anyone come to nailing the "meat substitute".
The food was delicious to be sure, but also throughly
The food was delicious to be sure, but also throughly inventive and appealing to the senses in every way. One has hardly ever described vegetables as star ingredients and savored every bite and delighted in the different textures and essences but here you do and it's an experience. You will taste carrots in a new way, you will delight in beet mousse (like a fancy ice cream, even, but as a savory dish), and the delightful corn two ways in the dessert with a wonderful ice cream. The absolute star of course is the lions mane mushroom - hearty, sumptuous. It would go back to have that entree alone. Service was impeccable, and what you'd absolutely expect from a restaurant that has a Michelin star. All the dishes and wine /zero proof pairings were explained so that you had a complete sense of what you're eating. The pairings absolutely brought out the taste of the veg. It was also excellent to know what the sourcing of the main ingredients were (well done, Blue Star farms). Well-lit, well-appointed, albeit small inside, but it's nice to have a viewpoint into the kitchen and see the sheds assembling dishes. It deserves its Michelin star.
It was absolutely scrumptious and worth every penny.
I'm not vegetarian and thought I'd miss the meat, but nope! Also, it's adorable inside and all the staff were so sweet.
We came here for our anniversary and absolutely loved it!
We came here for our anniversary and absolutely loved it! Many small courses with knowledgeable and kind staff who described in detail every ingredient in every course. We're doing dry January, so opted out of the wine pairing, but we will likely come back again and include the wine. Our server brought us a zero proof sparkling rose at the end of our meal and pretty much every staff member wished us a happy anniversary throughout the evening. We really appreciated the attention to detail. I loved that most ingredients were plant-based and locally sourced. It made me feel good about the food we were consuming. I also love that they seem to update their menu based on the season, and if we do return it will be in a different season to have that new experience. The stand-outs for us were the dried celery root, the pecan mousse at the bottom of the winter salad, the beet bread & butter, the heirloom beans (truly the best beans I have ever had), and the lions mane mushrooms. I also love that they gave us a printed menu at the end that included every course. I loved this experience and though it was pricey, will probably be back again!
Check your credit card statement after dining here.
While the food was great, we were charged for an additional tip we did not authorize (there is a 22% fee added, which we felt to be sufficient). After contacting the restaurant, their response was to "refund" the unauthorized charge. Incredibly disappointing for such an acclaimed restaurant.
This place is fine.
I think the Michelin star gets hopes up. For someone who eats a lot of vegetarian food, nothing was all that new or exciting, unfortunately. There was literally 1 oyster in 1 dish the entire night. Just seemed like more of a gimmick than anything else. A play on words, and just unnecessary. Service was top notch. No complaints there. The place is small, and I will assume that is what makes it so hard to get a table. Large windows, so you can watch everyone walk by, which was ok, not great. Glad I came to mark it off the DC Michelin list, but I don't feel the need to come back. The prices just didn't justify the food or experience.
Love this place! The marigold 'butter' is amazing.
The restaurant is quite small, and watching the staff move through it is like watching a choreographed dance. It's a nice place to go to for a special date night, like an anniversary or a birthday. If they are booked up (which is a regular occurrence), you can email them to get on a waitlist. Sometimes that works out.
I visited Oyster Oyster for a special menu dinner.
The food, wine pairing, and service were all excellent. I also appreciate their mission to be more sustainable and locally sourced. Your menu might vary, but we got dishes like: - fried celery root nest - a small bite, excellently fried, very tasty - truffled potato - tasty although pretty typical potato - beets with smoked tomato - not a very strong beet flavor (this is a good thing), very strong tomato flavor, also had an oyster in it. Excellent - kohlrabi with mushroom ragout - also excellent - beet bread with "butter" - very good, also not a strong beet flavor - confit squash and stuffed cabbage - excellent - apple spice cake - very good, although pretty sweet if you don't have a sweet tooth. I enjoyed it, my companion did not finish hers. We also had very nice wine pairings and service. Definite recommend.

Oyster Oyster was DIVINE! The menu was as innovative as it was delicious! I took a friend for her birthday, and she said that it was "the best meal I've ever had in my life!" She's not wrong, but it was so much more than just the meal-- the staff was attentive and made sure my friend felt extra special on her birthday (& they even made sure I felt special too)! The wines w/ which they paired each course were distinctive & complimented the meal perfectly. Although I'm not a vegetarian, I didn't feel that I was missing out at all; I enjoyed every morsel! I cannot recommend a Oyster Oyster highly enough.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
