This tapas bar was recommended by our hotel, and we are so glad we went! Waited for about 30 minutes outside with no reservation, but they offer you drink service while you wait. Victor was our waiter, and he was great. Service is excellent. We started with Potatas bravas, that comes with spicy mayo and hot sauce, which came out at the same time as the big spicy meatball. Which I don't believe actually has meat in it but it was delicious. Tomato bread was great. Scallops were good, but the tuna tataki was the star of the meal. The steak bites are served sizzling hot and cooked to perfection. Restaurant is upbeat, fast paced and worth your time. Tiramisu was amazing! Wish we had more time to go back again and try more of the menu.
Be the first to ReplyWe had some of the best tapas in Barcelona.
Refresh, anchovies, lightly battered and fried with just a little lemon juice were amazing. We also had the tuna belly and tomato salad with marinated garlic and onion vinaigrette. Mind blowing highly recommend this place.

Paco Meralgo was our first meal upon landing in Barcelona, and I'm so glad it was because it really set the tone for our trip. We had a reservation, thankfully, because the place filled up real quick after opening. And they noted that my partner has a gluten intolerance, providing an allergens menu so we could be sure of which dishes he could and could not have; always super appreciated, especially when traveling! Additionally, all of the staff were so friendly and helpful, happy to make recommendations as far as the most popular/their favorite dishes, and the amount of food we were ordering. As chronic over-orderers, this was extremely helpful for us. We ended up getting oysters, patatas bravas (not safe for gluten intolerance, but I inhaled these babies myself), seasonal vegetables with romesco, grilled razor clams, and grilled octopus. Everything was excellent, but the octopus in particular was absolutely incredible. One of the best-cooked octopuses I've ever consumed, and the thin piece of iberico lardo on top added an amazing flavor. My partner says that the octopus is in conversation for the single best bite we ate on our whole two-week trip across Europe. The space itself is very nice; definitely a bit cramped, but that's not too uncommon throughout Barcelona, we found. It's pretty casual with a very lively ambience to it. Everyone was happily chatting away and seemingly enjoying their experience! Would definitely recommend hitting Paco Meralgo if you're in the area, and a reservation would probably be a good idea.

If you have to pick one place to eat tapas and you're visiting, this should be the one. They have a wide variety of options, you will definitely find something you like. Their wine list is extensive and delectable sangrias! We ate all possible croquettes, meat all, fresh salmon and Tuna tartar (must try), scallops, carn brioche and everything was delicious.

10/10 - wayyy above and beyond service (even when we messed up our order). And our fave meal in Barcelona. Must visit :)

We came in on a Thursday night and it wasn't quite packed yet, but does get more full later on at night. So I'd say get an early reservation to beat the crowds. Every worker we encountered was great. Gave us great options to try as we were indecisive. I like the layout of the restaurant because the seating is spread out and in different parts of the restaurant. I also like that the restroom are upstairs. I have to say their food is a bit on the pricey side for tapas BUT for the quality you are getting it's worth it. First, their drink menu is great and they don't skimp on the alcohol. I had a bottle of wine which paired well with our meal. Now the food. Hands down the best patata bravas we've had in Spain so far (and we've had them with each meal). The sauce that they use is what makes amazing. Don't miss out on them. We got the ribeye and it was cooked perfectly! Now the dessert. This had to be one of the best desserts I've had. We had the French toast and I wasn't sure what would come out but let me tell you get this. It was the best thing I've had - it's so hard to describe. So go in and try it lol. The tiramisu was also great. This is a great treat yourself meal!
Be the first to ReplyWe enjoyed sitting at the bar.
The tuna tataki was great...so savory and amazing. Everything else was good, very fresh. Nice wine! I'd say go for the seafood here - it was all on ice at the bar, and lovely to look at (and taste).
Be the first to ReplyFood was incredible and exceptional.
We went there as a party of 3 and tried many tapas. One better than the next. The tuna tartar is great. Don't miss the beef chunks with garlic . Mushrooms were good too. Chocolate truffle desserts were amazing too. Tiramisu was good, but in all fairness I'm not a huge tiramisu fan in general. Bottle of wine was good. Overall, highly recommend this place.

Be the first to ReplyPaco Meralgo shows up with some frequency in travel
Paco Meralgo shows up with some frequency in travel publications as an excellent option for tapas in the neighborhood, so my wife, brother in law, and I decided to eat lunch here our first day in Barcelona. The atmosphere feels bright and open with large windows looking out onto the street and clean white tile punctuating both sides of the dining room. The crowd comprised mostly locals and we were the only tourists in the restaurant. Our waiter spoke English fluently and helped us with ordering. He also coursed out the meal at a comfortable pace, which prevented us from over ordering and over eating. The tapas here tasted excellent. Highlights included the black squid ink croquettes, the surprisingly spicy patatas bravas, the fresh red tuna tartar, rustic pan con tomate, and the creamy crab brioche. The only tapa of the 6ish we ordered that fell flat was the doughy and bland cuttlefish meatball.Prices here run slightly more expensive than the typical tapas restaurant, but the quality is high and overall we felt good value. If you are staying in this part of Eixample, Paco Meralgo is a worthy option for a leisurely tapas meal.
Be the first to ReplyVery pleasant staff, very friendly.
Accomodated us even though no reservation. We had mixture of tapas, all very pleasant. Not on the tourist route, mainly locals. Very good atmosphere. Lots of choice mainly seafood bias but all very good. Good range of drinks. Generally not expensive. Highly recommended. Appreciate your feedback.
Be the first to ReplyCame as a solo walk in on a Friday night.
The place was booming. There's two floors and most seats had groups enjoying the company over some tasty cuisine. They were able to seat me fairly quickly which was nice considering how busy it was.The food: please do yourself a favor and get the tuna tartare. This came as a recommendation and did not disappoint. I was offered tomato bread with it, which was a solid paring. Also got the patatas bravas which came with this delicious hot sauce pairing. Portions are reasonable. If you come with a group, pick up a few items and some wine. You'll be golden.Service and food was very quick. Will be back when I'm in Barcelona again!

My brother who has been to Barcelona many times recommended this place. Fantastic! The Cuttlefish Obama croquettes are to die for. I also had the cod fritters, tuna carpaccio and veal carpaccio and they were all fantastic! Went there twice while in Barcelona! I highly recommend this place. It gets busy so if you have a party of more than one make reservations.
Be the first to ReplyThe energy of this place is extraordinary.
Their tapas are a great way to learn and taste the Spanish cousin. One of the must in Barcelona
Be the first to ReplyEverything we ate here was pretty much amazing.
Our server kept the good stuff coming. I usually prefer my beef cooked well done, and this is the first time where it didn't even seem to matter. Delicious tapas and just a fun place for dinner.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing authentic tapas restaurant.
Service was superb and they were very accommodating despite the language barrier--took our coats, went out of their way to find us for our seats, and overall great service. Food is superb--the croquettes, bombas, gambas, razor clams, and everything is fantastic.

Fun , fun and great spot to discover Barcelona locals mixed with visitors. Small cozy Taberna with great food selection and Cava Wines etc. If you get Lucky . Perfect combination for Tapas, drinks and friendship, extra lucky if you get Victor as your Server!!!
Be the first to ReplyThe 30 minute wait was well worth it.
Fromthe waiter to the food , all excellent. Tapas were out of this world. The pan con tomate, was "the real thing." Beer selection and each tapa was delicious. The croquettes and the albóndiga (meatball) outstanding. Service was top notch even though it was a busy Monday lunch crowd. Prices were mid range and ambiance was more than comfortable. If you're in Barcelona, stop by. You won't be disappointed. Hope to return!

Another one of my favorite spots for tapas in Barcelona, the only reason I gave Paco Meralgo a 4 instead of a 5 is that their winter menu / experience is really lacking compared to their summer menu. I came here a few years ago in March with high expectations because I had heard great things, but thought it was a bit overrated. I came back the next year in June and was completely blown away. My friend also told the host that it was my birthday so they put on a big celebration and sang to me - so fun! Great experience and I can't wait to come back when I am able to visit Barcelona next.

Drinks order were taken fairly quickly but the overall service was a bit slow.

This was a lovely dinner experience - we definitely made a reservation in advance. We got several tapas which were all very good, but the waitress was a little short with us and they were out of 3-4 items that we tried to order which was really frustrating.I loved the "Obama" cuttlefish croquettes and the real standout was the veal sandwich which was incredible.I would recommend this place for the food but the vibe is definitely a little stuffier and the prices are higher than some of the other nicer tapas restaurants we had tried.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food and ambiance.
There was a line to get in when it opened and every seat was full when we left. I can see why. Everything we ordered was very good.

Hands down, this place is my favorite restaurant in Barcelona. I went here for a nice dinner during my first trip to Barcelona about 6 months ago and had to come back again during my second trip that I took about 2 1/2 weeks ago. The venue itself is very cozy and interactive and the waiters are always pleasant. The food here is beyond amazing. Between the first and second experiences, here are all the dishes we ordered (since we ordered some of same ones the second time): both types of croquettes, salmon tartar, steak tartar, foie gras and octopus in sauce. The fois was SO good that we had to get two orders of it both time, but the octopus dish is definitely my favorite. The wine is very reasonably priced as well.I would recommend this place to anyone in Barcelona because they really give you a five star experience with the food at such a great price. A must-go!!

Paid about ~15 euros per tapas but the seafood was fresh and the food came out pretty quick. We ate dinner at 8ish and by 9-10pm this place was packed (there was a line). We tried the 1) Pepper beef fillets tapas (amazing!), 2) Razor clams (a bit on the rare side), 3) Shrimp omelette (the shrimps were very sweet!), 4) Tomato baguette (tomato juice, olive oil and tomato seeds on a toasted baguette. The juice ran the risk of turning the bread soggy but thankfully it didn't. Good bread can be found all over Europe so nothing special really.)
