Great Hotel for business or pleasure
Absolutely beautiful, historic SF gem. Very kind, helpful and happy staff. Great neighborhood with easy walk anywhere in the city and a muni/BART stop right across the street. It's my always go-to if they have availability. Highly recommend!

I feel like this hotel stole money from us. We booked using Amex FHR, prepaid $350, 6 months ago, in order to receive the FHR benefits such as free breakfast. The card was cancelled since then, and they would not provide us the benefits we paid since we didn't have another Amex card with us. I spoke with a manager, Josue, who said it was in the fine print that we needed the card for incidentals (we had none) or we would not get the benefits. I asked as a courtesy just for breakfast, but Josue rudely told me there was nothing he could do because of Amex. I said certainly as a manager of the hotel he could comp us breakfast, but he just said he wouldn't do it! I don't understand how he could reach this conclusion, when it would be a simple thing to smooth over the situation. No, they are just keeping the $100 hotel credit and approximately $50 breakfast credit, which I paid for months ago. Highly unethical

I had a very nice time at the wonderful Palace Hotel. I was there at Christmas and again at Easter. The place was decorated beautifully. The staff is always very kind, but Jorge Trejo really stood out because rain sleet or shine. He always greeted me with a smile and kind words. Plus the Afternoon Tea was a highlight.

I was in town for a work trip in the first week of April 2024. It was a whirlwind work trip for 2 days. The hotel was amazing, the rooms are spacious and bedding and the sheets were just wonderful. The bathroom was super neat and clean and absolutely loved the heated toilet seat. The waterfall shower head was soothing and was really refreshing. Had plenty of towels and the bathroom was well lit. The lobby is gorgeous with a lot of seating. The Staff was really gracious. Overall had the most lovely experience.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing valet crew, charming hotel
It’s a hotel that has been around for years, so it comes with lots of charm (the rotunda!) and antique features. If you are looking for modern swanky hotel, this isn’t for you. If you’re looking for something more romantic and classic, this is the one. Hotel lobby service was fine - nothing memorable but no complaints. Everything was smooth and quick. My favorite folks here are the valet crew!! I feel welcomed and greeted every time I pull up to the hotel. Car is always brought up promptly without delay. It was super cold but that didnt seem to bother them - they were still so pleasant to speak to. A special shout out to Jorge Trejo. Really enjoyed small talks with him. Such a sweet man! For those not too familiar with SF, this hotel is in a safe part of SF. A group of my colleagues and I went to Pied Piper bar for drinks. I’m pregnant so I can’t attest to their drinks but the venue was alright. It gave clean, non-dive-y irish pub vibes. One notable negative comment: hotel was generally very cold!

Had a phenomenal stay during a recent 4 day business trip. Super friendly staff, my room was impeccably kept and the Palace has so much charm. I was close to a lot of great restaurants and other must see attractions. Looking forward to another visit on business or personal.
Be the first to ReplyA beautiful hotel in a convenient location
I traveled to San Francisco for a work event and a friend and I stayed at the Palace Hotel for 4 nights. We loved this place! Our room was very nice, with comfortable beds, and we enjoyed a lovely breakfast buffet each morning in The Garden Court. Everyone we met who worked at the hotel was very kind and helpful—in particular, Scott at the front desk took great care of us! The location was convenient to our event in SoMa and we walked to Chinatown for dinner. We also spent a morning at the SF MoMA down the street then hopped on the BART (there’s a station right across from the hotel) and walked around the Mission District for the afternoon. We would definitely stay at the Palace Hotel again.

Stayed for St.Patricks Day parade🍀, great location, beautiful hotel and very clean. Was going to check my luggage in at 10am because hotel check in was 4pm. Was told I might be able to check in earlier if the room was available. Checked and it was, awesome customer service/friendly. Five minutes later and I received a charge for $100 bucks, I understand the charges but would have appreciated one of the two people who suggested an early check-in or the front desk telling me that there was a charge. We were gone all day and didn't get back to the hotel till late.

My recent stay at the Palace was my 5th or 6th stay and is my go to hotel in San Francisco. The location is ideal right on Market and next to a Muni station, close to the BART, and the Embarcadero. The hotel itself is beautiful and incredibly well maintained. The entire team is well trained, friendly, and dedicated to luxury service. From the time you arrive and are greeted by the door person who warmly welcomes you and ushers you to reception. The front desk team who quickly identifies if you are returning guest or first time guest and proudly announce changes to benefit guest or introduces you to the hotel. If you haven’t already made a reservation for breakfast at the Garden Court stop by the concierge and make one first thing! The concierge has always been helpful but learn from me and make a reservation as soon as you book your room. It is a very popular spot for guests and locals. In addition to the Garden Court, I always stop by the Pied Piper for a little bit and cocktail. The food there is delicious and service is always wonderful. The setting of the Pied Piper is that of classic cocktail lounge set under that amazing painting. The rooms are well appointed and the housekeeping staff is incredible. Rooms vary and I have stayed in a standard and deluxe room which are both wonderful. I do love when I’m upgraded to a deluxe room for turn down service with Ghirardelli chocolates and the Toto equipped toilets. Spoil yourself and book a room here!
Be the first to ReplyThe Palace Hotel, simply the best!
Have been staying at The Palace Hotel for years. It's an iconic San Franciscan institution with a ton of history and very well placed in the city. So many of the staff have been there for years and understand the importance of customer care. Love the late night team on the front desk, "Jerry and Brian", always so helpful and attentive to the needs of every hotel guest and excel at customer service. Thank you Palace Hotel and thank you Jerry and Brian and the wonderful Palace staff who make every stay exceptional!
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful hotel and AMAZING customer service
I stay at the Palace Hotel just for one night for a conference. I wasn’t expecting that much was just a one night stay, but I was blown away by the extremely professional and attentive staff. Joey at the front desk went out of his way to help me fix an error in booking that was entirely on my end. Would recommend to anyone staying in the San Francisco area. I will certainly be back.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful Hotel, Experience could have been better
The Hotel is beautiful and in a great location. The room was nice, though the furniture is dated and worn. The staff was professional and personable. Our issue, occurred because when we checked in, the front desk attendant did not inform us that the included breakfast required reservations. When we attempted to attend the breakfast, we were told there was a 50-minute wait. However, the wait time was past the time breakfast was to be served. We therefore had no choice but to go off property and pay extra for breakfast that was purportedly included in our stay. I informed the front desk staff, but received only an "I am so sorry for your inconvenience." That response was insufficient.
Be the first to ReplyExceptional experience at a beautiful hotel
What an incredible experience! This hotel is not only gorgeous, but the staff makes you feel like you are at home! Friendly, attentive, and incredibly hospitable. We planned a networking event at Pied Piper and the staff made sure everyones needs were met and went above and beyond for our entire group. And the food was exceptional, the desserts were beautiful, and the overall experience was just wonderful. I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a business or pleasure trip or event.
Be the first to ReplyKids Loved the Indoor Pool
Had a wonderful stay at the Palace Hotel, the kids loved the indoor pool and the customer service was amazing. The breakfast was a buffet style with plenty of options. Overall we had a wonderful time and would definitely comeback with the family.
Be the first to ReplyCannot get a refund for fraud charges
Our stay at the Palace was nice. We stayed in room 638, a one bedroom suite. The room was clean and the bed comfy. The pool was a good time with my 4 year old unfortunately the hot tub was under repair but we had a good time. The buffet breakfast was actually awesome (hack= 4 years old and under get included on your buffet price). My complaints come with the billing invoice and refunds. We were charged an additional 82.56$ at the green restaurant that was not from us. Trying to get a refund has been a huge pain. I still do not have the refund and find myself venting on TripAdvisor. I have spoken with 4 different people, told I would be called back, none of them called back to resolve. I have sent emails without anyone answering as well. I really cannot afford to just lose 82$ it sucks and I would think twice about staying here in the future.
Be the first to ReplyNumber one SF Hotel Property
Unbelievable property, old school luxury, great restaurant and amazing service. Simply a beautiful classic hotel. From the bellman's classy welcome, to the more than fast, generous registration, every single facet of our SF getaway was amazing.

Attended a company event where over 400 people attended. The space was perfect and the facilities were top-notch. The front desk was very helpful with check-in,c checkout and special requests. Great hotel in a great location with excellent service
Be the first to ReplyThank you Palace Hotel staff
Another reminder of what an oasis the Palace Hotel is in the middle of downtown San Francisco. They’ve managed to make some sensible adjustments to the climate of the time. The lobby level ladies room is now keypad protected. The complimentary coffee and tea in the mornings are served by staff following room confirmation. It’s all done for the safety and pleasure of their guests. The hospitality displayed at valet, registration, pool, bar and room service was wonderful. The property was in beautiful condition. We enjoyed our stay very much and look forward to returning. Thank you Palace Hotel staff.
Be the first to ReplyWeekend Away
My wife and I spent the weekend of March 17-19 at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. This was not our first visit to the Palace and like every other time, we had a great experience. We have an electric car and they were able to charge it for us, housekeeping was amazing and we loved the drinks and food offerings at the Pied Piper. Check in was prompt and helpful. We are Marriott Rewards Members and look forward to staying at the Palace Hotel on our next visit to San Francisco.
Be the first to ReplyLovely stay every stay
One of my favorite hotels in SF. They have one of the coziest beds and the history of the place is amazing. Not to mention the wonderful and friendly staff there - always a pleasure staying here. Will be back soon, and hopefully catch that elusive brunch rsvp one of these days…

Absolutely Gorgeous Building, very courteous staff & the breakfast buffet was delicious. Great location in the heart of Downtown San Francisco . If you will be visiting The Bay Area . I highly recommend the palace
Be the first to ReplyNot Luxury
It’s too bad that such a glorious historic hotel like The Palace lacks the attention to detail. Little things like no in-room coffee/tea maker, worse when you head down to the lobby to ask for a cup of tea to take up to your room, you are handed a styrofoam cup of hot water and a herbal tea and charged $9 plus tax and tip. Absolutely ridiculous… In addition there’s been no availability for brunch for two on any of our 3 days here, plus no gift shop, no bar service until after 4:30 pm daily, so you are forced to leave the property for breakfast and lunch.
