Parisian Cafe
Beautiful atmosphere! Outstanding breakfast! Such a Parisian cafe vibe (even down to the music). Eggs were PERFECTION! We will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent dining experience.
We ended up eating here after shopping in the area. I got a 6 pm dinner reservation on a Saturday. I am from Philly so very familiar with Starr restaurants, including his other NYC restaurant. I was not sure what to expect, but was really pleased with the dining experience. We were greeted warmly, the food was excellent as was the service, and they acknowledged my birthday. ( That is important to me). There was no pretension. I have since recommended Pastis to others as a great choice if in the Meatpacking District.

Be the first to ReplyTrendy brasserie with a modern take on french classics
Located in the West Village, Pastis is a trendy brasserie focussed on french classics. Bar is beautiful and the bartender makes a great negroni. Menu is very good with lots of options from their renowned burger to more classical cuisine, such as boudin blanc. For starters we had 2x foie gras parfaits, 1x sardines and 1x shrimp cocktail which were all generous and delicious. For mains we had 1x rabbit ragu, which was great although quite small, 1x dorade (daily special) and 1x veal escalope, which were both delicious. Then one of us had the salade lyonnaise which was too salty and claggy with too much sauce overpowering the rest of the dish and salt in addition to the bacon making it unappetising. A sticky toffee pudding was shared for dessert which was delicious. Only gripe is that the staff are very unhelpful, both front of house and servers. If you arrive early, don't expect to be seated (at your table, or at another temporarily, even outside) - instead we had a drink at the bar which was still nice. It was painful trying to get a server's attention. Overall we had a great time at Pastis, food was delicious, menu had plenty of variety, and the atmosphere was great with good music.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place for lunch and good service
Stopped en route to commence a walk on the highline. Great space, good service and very precise and correct french classics Very good salad lyonnaise and omelette and vegetables perfectly al dente . Service worth service charge. Wine list full of french classics especially burgundy but with frightening mark ups
Be the first to ReplyWhen in NY, dine here!
My wife and I have never been disappointed here--either for brunch, lunch, or dinner. The ambiance is always festive, the service is great (shout out to Ziva), and the food and drink are perennially divine. I love the fine herbs omelette; my wife cannot get enough of the Eggs Benedict. My wife enjoyed a Bloody Mary with Grey Goose; I enjoyed the St. German Spritz.
Be the first to ReplyA Taste Of Culinary Paris In NYC.
Pastis, in the Meat Packing District, is a highly popular (even celebs) NY restaurant serving traditional French food fare. On the decor side, Pastis embraces a radius zinc bar, is outfitted with subway tiles, vintage mirrors, Mosaic tiled floors, sprawling amber banquettes, painted tin ceiling, frosted globe lighting that all contribute to the depth of the convivial mood. On the culinary side, the menu displays a repository of fine Parisian items such as: Trout Amandine, Grilled Branzino, Veal Escalope and more. From the menu, I put together, the Onion Soup (a knockout), Beef Bourguignon (another knockout), and to grease my sweet tooth, Creme Brulee (so flavorful). On the drinks side, the Aperitivo Bar serves up Fuzzy cocktails, (I loved the St. Germain spritz) as well as high end wines. A taste of culinary Paris in NYC.
Be the first to ReplyRude staff
For such a highly rated place, terrible customer service and awful attitudes of host staff. First review I’ve ever written bc felt so strongly about their tone and attitude, would not go back and would not recommend. Food was ok, not great, but completely overshadowed by attitude of staff
Be the first to ReplyGreat restaurant… period
This restaurant has been a classic since it was located around the corner from the current location. This restaurant needs no reviews but for those who just landed from Mars here it goes. The food here is amazing. Sitting outside on a beautiful sunny day is wonderful. You can bring your friend, bring your dog, bring your friends dog and enjoy the food and the wonderful service. You do need to make a reservation or plan ahead because it does get busy. It is a very popular restaurant. So when you are in the meatpacking district, make sure you stop here for a drink or a meal, but plan ahead because the place does get busy. Be bold, don’t be a peasant, and order a Pastis, and don’t be shy to ask how to enjoy the wonderful French drink.
Be the first to ReplyWhat I imagine a Paris bistro would be
Squeaked in on a whim for Sunday lunch. They had no room (note to self - get a reservation ) and then after a brief wait we got a lovely corner table. Excellent hot food with good service considering the crowd. Superb people watching vantage. Great pomme frittes & mussels in white wine. Going back in June.
Be the first to ReplyVery cool brunch spot
Yummy brunch & cocktails in a gorgeous setting & area. Quite expensive for what you get but we still enjoyed it!
Be the first to ReplyVery French, very lively
A bit crowded but overall a great experience. Had the plat du jour of classic duck a la orange, great choice. The drinks were less than expected. Why is it so hard to find a proper Old Fashioned in this town!
Be the first to ReplyOur go-to for brunch whenever we are in NYC
This restaurant is just so terrific from the hospitable hosts to the servers to the delicious food. Pierre and Dane were our delightful servers this past weekend when my wife enjoyed the Eggs Benedict, and I had the Gruyere omelette. The pain au chocolate was to-die-for. We're returning for dinner in April. Reservations are a must--a testament to how good and popular this dining establishment is.
Be the first to ReplyVery hospitable
Booked an early dinner for 4pm via Resy only to find out they were still on their lunch menu. Said we'd finish our wine, settle up and move on. Manager was very nice and gave us the drinks for free. We'll be back thanks to their hospitality.
Be the first to ReplyLively and warm, delicious French standards served with New York energy
Bustling with activity, friends and neighbors crowd this popular spot to be served wonderful food and wide ranging choices of dishes and drinks. We will put this on our favorites list.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect stop for a French respite
My husband and I stopped here for a French bite after the Whitney and before getting on the High Line (not far away is the little floating island park, also a fun architectural adventure). I had steak tartare (large) and it was PERFECTLY seasoned. Topped with a raw egg. Had a side of crunch toasts. Couldn’t ask for better. My husband had the steak sandwich, which he said was fine. It was topped with a mountain of skinny fries. This is a big brasserie-style restaurant, and when busy it’s pretty loud. The two of us could hear each other, but 4 people might struggle. Service is efficient, the crowd is varied (we were delighted to see 5 teenage boys drop in for lunch lol) and this was exactly what we were looking for.
Be the first to ReplyDon’t order the sardines
Pastis has a great vibe and their service is fabulous. The food as expected is just regular fare - really nothing to write home about. I ordered 2 appetisers for my meal. The artichokes were 3 limp halves of artichoke hearts - not really anything memorable. The sardines on the other hand were a shocker. They were served straight in the can! Yes seriously the chef opened a can of sardines placed them at an angle on an oval plate and served them with bread on the side. I thought they had made a mistake!!! The server insisted that they were really very special sardines. I have to say in all my years I have never seen something this ridiculous!!
Be the first to ReplyConsistently good
One of the most solid restaurants in the meatpacking area. Always busy and good atmosphere. French brasserie style done the American way. Does what it says on the tin.
Be the first to ReplyRomantic dream
Delicious food ! Excellent service by Pierre ! Fun atmosphere! Good music Our favorite spot in nyc ! Celebrated our 20 th anniversary! We will be back
Be the first to ReplyNever again
We stepped in for lunch with a group of six. The waiter was not friendly at all and was not hiding his dissatisfaction when we ordered what for him probably seemed not (expensive) enough. We're from Belgium and we're quite familiar with French cuisine. We must say, for us this was a disappointment.
Be the first to ReplyLunch after a visit to the Whitney
Delicious Lunch. Beet salad was perfect. Friday is Bouillabaisse day. Monkfish, red snapper, shrimp, Branzino and mussels in a delicious classic broth with rounds of crisp baguette with aioli. Couldn’t have been better. Profiteroles were excellent too. The house rose and Rhône wine by the glass were well chosen. Server was knowledgeable and congenial.
Be the first to ReplyGreat vibe, great food, great night
Very atmospheric trendy restaurant, got a good vibe from when we walked in the door. Food was excellent, had the onion soup and fillet steak. Great experience, I’d highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and even better service!
We dined for brunch on a very busy week-end. We thoroughly enjoyed the cocktails, salad nicoise, eggs Benedict, and chocolate mouse for dessert. The ambiance was upbeat and pleasant. I wish I remembered our male servers name. He was exceptional and made our experience even more enjoyable!
Be the first to ReplyFun ambiance, good food, staff only ok
I went to a dinner here with colleagues and had a nice dinner. It was more expensive than I would have preferred on my own. The ambiance and decor were quite charming. The food was good. The staff was a mixed bag. I felt like they were mostly attentive, stopped by often enough. One of the servers genuinely put his thumb in our mashed potatoes and didn't apologize or acknowledge it. For our waiter, I was also disappointed when I asked for a description of a dessert, and the dessert was absolutely not as described.
Be the first to ReplyMother’s Day brunch
Fabulous, Pastis is trendy, exceedingly busy, and yet your experience here does not suffer one bit. From the moment you arrive the hostess is welcoming, the ambiance and the staff are impeccable and attentive to every detail! I have had my share of regretful experiences in so called “trendy”restaurants in NY. Also the atmosphere is chill and cool but the staff knows what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you can tell that making the customers happy is their main priority. Food is very good, tried some French classics and was delightfully surprised and for their prices it’s 100% worth it…and despite being full capacity on the first sunny Spring NY day we had the most delectable experience! I shall cherish this Mother’s Day brunch! I can’t wait to return with my husband to dine here! Thank You!
