FANTASTIC in New York
We ate at this restaurant 8 years ago and remembered the great atmosphere and good food so we can back for another dinner. It was AMAZING....the food, appetizers, entrees, and desserts, fantastic! But what really knocked us out was the level of professional servers from the busboys, waiter, and right up to the manager. This place is the essence of beautiful, comfortable dining with outstanding service. Thank you for an amazing evening!

Great food, fantastic service and welcoming vibe. We were there for dinner and had a wonderful dining experience. I would recommend to anyone.

Thanks to Dan for being our experience expert for our dinner. We were celebrating a big birthday and he pulled out all the stops to make the experience memorable. The short rib was incredible and the suckling pig lived up to the hype. The ‘pizza’ bread from the oven was simple and tasty. Truly a wow and if were locals, we’d be back over and over.
Be the first to ReplyAnother gem by Chef Marc Forgione
Marc Forgione is a chef we’ve had the pleasure of meeting several times, so it was no surprise that when he opened his new spot Peasant, we just needed to find a time to try it. And it certainly didn’t disappoint. We invited a couple along for the experience making it all the more fun. We ordered the octopus, suckling pig and a few other dishes. Everything was outstanding, as is usual with Marc. The rustic interior and wood fired hearth made it all the more romantic. We highly recommend Peasant for your next occasion.
Be the first to ReplyA total gem!
We were so fortunate to be seated at Marc Forgiones restaurant, Peasant. It is small and intimate. We had reservations, which is a must and make them as early both for your trip and time of day. We made ours for 5:45 on a Friday. We originally had our reservation at Forge but there was a problem which would take time to resolve. We got into Peasant instead and Carla? Marks wife greeted us at the wait stand: she took us back to our table and thus began our culinary experience. We shared several dishes, all were delicious. I loved the smoked linguini with clams, smoked oysters with bone marrow broth, the steak tartare and the scrumptious pannacotta. It was all delicious. I will go again.

Excellent Italian food. Nice location. Portion is good. Not super expensive. Has indoor and outdoor space. I loved it. Excellent Italian restaurant outside Italy

Enjoyed a great evening with friends Service excellent, not rushed, nice decor. Forgione has the touch for delicious food and unique presentation. Enjoyed oysters, pasta, veal, lobster
Had a nice bottle of Sicilian wine that is hard to find in the US
NOT HAPPY WITH FOOD AND SERVICE
Yesterday 4 of us visited your restaurant and had VERY BAD EXPERIENCE,
My appetizer baby octopus, was overcooked and very very hard to eat, my wife's burrata was very regular, my wife's and her brother's pasta were just pasta and really almost nothing in it, my special pork loin was highly overpriced $42.00 (!!!), another special red snapped was really nothing to talk about, not special at all, we ordered 3 desserts and did not finish all of them, not good and not tasty at all and finally paid over $400.00 for this dinner.
Waiting time for each dish was over 45 minutes, which is unacceptable too.
VERY VERY UPSET and VERY BAD EXPERIENCE, COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE FOR THIS KIND OF RESTAURANT!!!
Great dinner
Great food and great service in a super cozy atmosphere. I will definitely return very soon with my wife.
Be the first to ReplyI just had dinner at this
I just had dinner at this excellent place after a long time. They re opened recently and it’s simply delicious!
I highly recommend it. The mushroom fire wood flavors are wonderful. The fish and everything is beautifully comfort deliciousness
And the waiter was fantastic.
Love this place!
unpretentious, but great
My wife and I ate at Peasant on a visit to NYC about 18 years ago and we wanted to return. We found the same great food quality and service and the more simply prepared dishes that we love. Special mention goes to the razor clams appetizer, very tasty and tender. And the steak, which was pounded thin and quickly grilled. Never had steak prepared this way -- it was great. Only disappointing thing was that our server told us that they planned to close at the end of this year and to open under a new owner. Hopefully the new owner will carry on with the same great food and service.
Be the first to ReplyFun place, nice menu
Nice room with a good buzz. Liked the menu & specials with a lot of unusual choices. Everything we ordered was very good to excellent. Reasonable prices. Allie, our main server was terrific - knowledgeable regarding the food & wine, efficient and with a great sense of humor. She’s special. Only criticism is the all-Italian wine list. Most of the offerings are absurdly expensive. Why offer Falanghina, Fiano, Aglianico - wines that typically retail for $18-25 - for $107, because they are from Quintodecimo, Italy’s most expensive producer? There are only a few white wines and even fewer red wines for under $70, and most reds are over $100. Even for NYC, it’s a really expensive list. Maybe they allow BYO with corkage?

Peasant was a great (random) find while walking around Nolita, from the mouthwatering food and the friendly service, to the charming osteria spirit. With rustic décor, bare wood tables and a bustling wine bar downstairs.
Make sure to try their house-made lasagna with braised rabbit ragù
You’ll love this.....
This restaurant hits on the top ten list.........Food, wine and people were amazing.
Would return in a heartbeat.
Great food, great service
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Peasant. The atmosphere is rustic / warm. Our waiter was superb - quite knowledgeable and helpful in everything from the wine list (great selection of Italian wines) to the desserts. The five of. us ordered different dishes - all were very pleased with them.
