We've never had a bad experience with food or service in years of going here...until this past Thursday. I'm not sure if they suddenly hired a whole bunch of new staff and they were all working Thursday evening without supervision or if the Three Stooges were managing for the evening. It was really bad. Servers and waiters kept bumping into us at our table, dropping stuff, being inattentive and acting generally confused. I think they stuffed extra tables into the dining room because no one had room to maneuver. It felt cramped and uncomfortable and chaotic. My food was awful. The Turtle Gumbo wasn't a gumbo at all and was watery and tasteless. To my surprise, the French Onion soup, which is usually excellent, must have been prepared by the same person making the gumbo. The Chicken Oscar was also awful. Overcooked and dry, the sauce was flat and without seasoning and was not properly tempered and the lumped crab was lumpy but also didn't taste like quality crab. The asparagus was charred but not cooked. All in all, a horrible experience for the price. I'll try it again in six months but if it goes the same way, the only steakhouse in Denver worth eating at will be Shanahan's.
