Great, traditional family run restaurant
Had a great family meal here. Our waiter was the son of the famous husband and wife duo and gave good recommendations and excellent service. The pasta starters were good. The calf liver was tasty. Specials of Osso Bucco and veal shoulder were very good. Finished with the dessert trolley.
Be the first to ReplyThe Witch ruins everything
The owner's wife (AKA) THE WITCH is absolutely rude and pushy trying to sell the specials and push them down for throat.
I have a right to eat whatever the f... I want, I am a paying customer and if I want to drink bleach, it is not of your business, no one needs your pushiness and everybody knows that the specials are being pushed because otherwise they stay in the kitchen and are not special anymore!!! Here is an idea give your specials for free and please for the love of God: retire once and for all.
Worst Restaurant in Perth.
Had then unfortunate experience of visiting this "restaurant" for a work Christmas function. At the time of booking, months in advance, we enquired as to their ability to cater to vegan or gluten free dietary requirements, which we were assured was possible. Upon arriving at the restaurant, the waiter was immediately behaving in a questinonable manner, trying to force us into purchasing a bottle of wine and not taking no for an answer. He then casually joked about being drunk on the job and referred to us in inappropriate, sexualised nicknames causing no end of discomfort. As we were to order, the individual of the party with dietary requirements, called X for this review, was informed they "do not get to choose and will be given something" made by the Chef. The starter arrived, which was one mushroom cut into pieces. The first cause then arrived, being pasta/gnocchi for most individuals, but was 5 spears of asparagus for X. The mains, or meat, dishes then arrived. The beef was grossly undercooked, blue would not even cover how raw this meat was. It was inedible. The duck was so stringy and dry it wouldn't even come off the bone. X was served an unidentified log on a plate. Upon questioning, was told that no one knew what this log was. The chef then appeared, aggressively yelling at X that it was "rice in lettuce, YOU CAN EAT IT". It was plain rice in a lettuce leaf. Not at all a meal nor something that should ever see the light of day in a venue posing as an Italian restaurant. After the abomination of the meals, a cart of desserts which spent the night parked next to the toilets, was wheeled round and forced onto every table. The entire experience was horrendous. Not only were staff inappropriate, rude, unhelpful and tasteless, the food was a disgrace and two people from the party spent the night unwell with food poisoning. If you value service, tasty food and a good experience, I would advise going ANYWHERE but Perugino.
Be the first to ReplyWorst Dining Experience Ever
Worst dining experience I’ve ever had.
Language barrier, “authentic culture”, age or traditional style is not an excuse for terrible service and offensive remarks. Save your time, money and experience and eat elsewhere.
If you have any dietary requirements this is not the place for you.
The other negative reviews are spot on.
Absolutely terrible. Listen to your gut and leave before you order.
You will leave this restaurant feeling worse than when you entered.
Amazing
I never leave reviews but I really wanted to leave this one after seeing so many rude reviews about Rosalba (aka old women). I think what people don’t understand is that food is a heavy, heavy part of the Italian culture and perhaps what people have experienced with Rosalba is just her extreme passion for her culture and food. I understand being in Australia we may not be used to having to eat food in a particular manner or using particular plates, but what u need to understand is that the restaurant has a very authentic vibe to it. So it should be noted that if u decide to enjoy their amazing authentic food then also accept the authentic Italian culture and the way the restaurant runs things and just enjoy the experience. If she is teaching u etiquette and the way her culture does things then let her. My friend and I personally really enjoyed her non-apologetic attitude. You could tell the extreme level of passion she had about her food and culture. Although I understand that some of her behaviour may be strange, I was not in the slightest bit offended and accepted her showing me the right etiquette for eating Italian food. I myself used the wrong plate to eat the bread but she quickly changed it and asked me to use the right plate. I simply apologised and no harm was done. She also taught me how to read out the very Italian menu without knowing a word of Italian. Now for next time I will be as confident as ever and never feel embarrassed when I go to another Italian restaurant. If someone had bothered asking her why food shouldn’t be shared instead of being offended, she would have explained that some ingredients don’t go well for ones metabolism when mixed. I have to also say that the man waiter that works there was just as amazing. He really was the cherry on top with our experience. He was funny and so vigilant. Constantly watching out to refill my water and swap out our meals with the next course. Everyone needs to remember that Rosalba is representing her culture and one must be open minded and let her teach you the right way things are done in her culture. We came for a simple lunch but left with an ever lasting memory.

What a beautiful restaurant and delectable Italian food, but THE WITCH needs to stay home under the stairs!!! She is rude, condescending, just plain awful to paying customers young and old, she hurts the business big way I would never ever go there not even for free food if she is around, time to hire a proper hostess or get one of the friendly waiters to do the front of the desk, she even messed up my reservations and then got angry because I turned up at the restaurant, preposterous!!!!
I pity the poor old man who has to put up with her every day, leave her at home tied to a pole were she belongs!!
Average Italian
This restaurant has been around for a long time and I had fond memories of it from many years ago and was therefore disappointed when I was there again recently and the food, whilst still good, did not meet my expectations based on my previous experiences of years ago.
Be the first to ReplyVery special night out
My daughter and I went last night for a special occasion and a very lovely experience, we had two entrees and a main to share and a very generous cheese platter. The food was divine and well portioned. The staff were very accomodating about letting us share and they served the half portions elegantly on fresh plates for us, they didn't make us feel uncomfortable about the special request. As it turns out the half portions were generous and after the delicious cheese platter (loved the taleggio), we were very full and contented. The chef came out to talk to us on several occasions and we enjoyed his interaction and conversation. For us, the food was excellent but the occasion was made more special with the excellent service and attention. Will definitely go back for another special occasion.
Thank you Giuseppe for an excellent night!
Birthday celebration dinner with friends
I chose this restaurant for my husband's birthday as he is Italian and we wanted something authentic. I also have a few issues with certain foods and when I looked at the menu I was thrilled to see there was food I could eat without disrupting the chef. We were seated at the table for 6 under the mirrored atrium ceiling - gorgeous. Our waiters were fabulous- charming, knowledgeable about the wines we chose and not intrusive -as well as funny! The food was to die for it was that good. I had the pastry with Mozzarella and Truffle for entree- swoon! My lamb was pink and delicious and everyone else had no complaint at all about their dishes. The dessert trolley (always my favourite) was piled with delicious offerings and it was so hard to choose - but I finally made a choice -so good! Excellent value for money and we will be back- I must try the duck!!! Go -you won't regret it!!!

The experience was at best Faulty Toweresque, after being told what one could eat and what not, the puff pastry dish which my partner was allowed to order (which we secretly shared) was very good, the accompanying delicacies not so much.
The wine list is a financial mine field however the icing on the cake was the following, Upon asking where the bathrooms are, I was told they don’t have one by Basil Faulty, personified in Italian female form, in an apparent attempt at humour (sadly at my expense) but to the delight of the over-dressed mostly female guests waiting to be seated in the Foyer. ‘Basil-ina’ did gesture towards the garden to the tittering of the surrounding guests. I let fly admonishing Basil-ina in my best ‘worst’ Italian. I was then shown the correct way to the bathroom!!
If you like Faulty Towers and average Italian cuisine this could be an entertaining evening for you !
Shockingly rude, belittling and service.. left embarrassed.
We have been here 2 times now.
First time was 5/5, great good and service.
Second time was 2/5. Food again was good, however the older lady owner/manager was exactly as explained in all the other reviews. Easily ruins the vibe of the whole dining experience.
During our first visit, she was only working the front, seeing customers in etc.
During the second visit, she was actually working on the floor and taking orders etc. She was extremely rude and condescending..
I was not hungry, but didn't want to cancel our dinner so went anyway. I asked to get 2x entrees for my meal instead of an entree and a main. I was told I was under no circumstances able to do this.. I really only wanted 1x entree however since we were the only people dining in at the time I felt bad in case they were only open that night for us, so wanted to give them a bit more money with the 2x entrees.. I was told they are silver service, and this is how it's done. Was i not explained this last time we came? Maybe I just don't remember this being explained to me? If everyone else was getting an entre and a main then so must I. It was very belittling, and I felt quite embarrassed.
I told her to give me time and come back.
When she came back I said I don't like any of their mains.. however she forced me into ordering one, and telling me I only don't like the sound of them because I've never been cooked good food before.
The older man (maybe her husband and chef), came out and told me I needed to eat the last 2 asparagus on my plate, because they are expensive to buy. I felt like saying I didn't even want to order a main meal but the other lady bullied me into it.
One of our friends only wanted to order a main. He was told he also was not allowed to and must order an entree. Said the mains are not big enough for a whole meal and he is a big boy and will be able to eat both meals.
After checking, there is nothing in their menu or on their websites that states the whole table MUST have per person an entree, main and vegetables.
This will definitely make us think twice about coming a third time, and also recommending them anymore as we have done many times in the past.
We spent $600 for 5 people, and it did not feel like a $600 experience thanks to the shocking service.
