Phnom Penh Restaurant Vancouver Reviews from The Last Year
So good
You must come with a group to truly enjoy all their dishes. We all look forward to their famous deep-fried chicken wings. We also had their multi flavor balls of noodle soup, beef luc lac, carpaccio, special fried rice, dry noodle, on choy, and fish. Expect long waits if you can not make a reservation (group). Surprisingly, they do not open late.

This place is outstanding the butter beef is a crazy looking concoction that when you mix all up is incredible. The beef luc luc with a egg on top is out of this world and the chicken wings might be the best dry wings I have ever had. One word of warning go early or be okay with waiting cause this place fills up fast but has a quick table turnaround.
Amazing! Get the wings! Excellent value! Walk around while
Amazing! Get the wings! Excellent value! Walk around while waiting for a table. Best wings you'll ever try.

This is my 5th time eating at this restaurant and the quality remains to be as great as all my previous visits dating back to 2021. They definitely deserve the michelin guide recognition. After a recent trip to Cambodia, i can see that Phnom Penh is more of a fusion cuisine, blending flavours from cambodia, vietnam, and southern china perfectly. I would say this is a quintessential restaurant of vancouver and would recommend any visitors to try. One thing i found is that this restaurant excels at their speciality, which are the 5 dishes I've posted, but the rest of the items of their expansive menu were nothing out of the ordinary. However this isn't really an issue unless you're coming here regularly and frequently
I went to the lunar food crawl and this was our first stop.
The service was fast and great. They didn't treat us differently because we were not dining in customers. The wings came hot to order.
Amazing food and customer service.
Ambiance reminded me a lot of my own family gatherings. Busy, bustling, and happy atmosphere with great food for a good price.
We came here on a Friday and the wait was 1 hour.
Honestly it was not worth it. The restaurant gets kind of loud, and the ambiance is a bit chaotic. I ordered the hot and sour fish soup that many people rave about, but it was a big disappointment. It was sweet and sour, and way too sweet (there's pineapple in the soup). The fish did not taste good or fresh. The fried squid was very bland, and the beef lac lac was a bit too saucy and sweet, too.
Visited Vancouver for a weekend and was craving something
Visited Vancouver for a weekend and was craving something soupy. Despite the 1.5hours wait in line (virtually), I highly recommend coming early to put down your name/numbers at the front to receive your spot and come back when your table's almost ready. Staff was great and did not rush us while we were seated, some places do that as if they want us to rush through our meals and that's not very welcoming, but this place made us feel comfortable being there! Chicken wings were juicy and crispy, tasted rather sugary & peppery (in a good way). The phnom penh rice noodles (in soup) with pork liver, shrimp, sliced pork/beef shank, fish balls, fried garlic to create this hearty meal. The noodles came boiling hot and it looked simple but tasted amazing! When you visit Vancouver, definitely stop by here if your schedule can accomodate and expect the long wait. Was it worth the hype? I will have to come back and try the rest of their dishes next time write another review! Until next time!

I have eaten with groups of friends at this restaurant for almost 40 years; both lunches and dinners. The food is consistently good; service is quick and friendly; the place is clean and reliable, not fancy.
Usually a line up with a minimum 15-30 minute wait
Usually a line up with a minimum 15-30 minute wait regardless the time of the day. Parking is of course, horrible in this area. Although paid parkades are nearby. The food was nice and fresh. Ordered the staples from them and nothing bad to say about it. Flavour is good but imo nothing really stands out as a wow or something that would warrant another visit. The restaurant is cozy with plenty of tables and the service is so-so The chicken wings and butter beef was the go to as usual

Straight-Up Flavor Bomb! Yo, nestled smack dab in the heart of Vancouver's OG Chinatown, Phnom Penh restaurant ain't playin' around when it comes to droppin' some mad Cambodian cuisine knowledge on ya. Roll up and you're hit with straight-up vibes and the smell of spices ticklin' your senses. The spot's chill yet lit, with a mix of heads from the block and tourists vibin' together. Decor's on point, throwin' it back to Cambodian roots with dope art and pops of color. But let's cut to the chase - the grub. Phnom Penh's got a menu that's off the hook, mixin' up legit Cambodian eats with a dash of Chinese and Vietnamese flair. Whether you're a seasoned foodie or just getting your feet wet, they got you covered. You gotta start with their butter beef - sliced thin and drenched in a sauce that'll have your taste buds straight-up doin' the happy dance. And them chicken wings? Straight fire, crispy and seasoned to perfection - you know those joints are a go-to. So, we roll up to this spot, orderin' up a storm, and our servers are straight-up shook by the spread we're throwin' down. One of 'em even cracks a joke, sayin' we can't cop no to-go boxes unless we clean house. Challenge accepted, fam. We crush every last bite, and when we polish off the final dish, our server's givin' us a round of applause like we just dropped a freestyle in the cypher. Straight-up epic. But yo, word on the street is Phnom Penh gets mad busy, especially when the block's poppin'. So, either be ready to wait or slide in with a reservation - you don't wanna miss out on this flavor fiesta. Overall, Phnom Penh brings the heat, takin' you on a trip to the streets of Cambodia with every bite. From the bomb-ass dishes to the chill vibe, it's no wonder this spot's got heads comin' back for more. Whether you're lookin' for a quick bite or a full-on feast, Phnom Penh's the spot to be. Trust.
Great food and service
Phnom Penh has been a favorite in our family for years. While not a fancy restaurant, the food here is great and the service is always friendly and quick. My husband and I have tried many different things but the butter beef is a must to order. It's a great place for lunch if you are in Vancouver.
Overrated
Food is very overrated the only good dish we got was the butter beef other than that their hu tieu flavor is very weak and beef rice too rich
Fantastic say & pepper chicken wings
Delicious, flavourful dishes with a relaxed open-concept vibe. The butter beef was nice, a first for me. Probably not something I would order again before I get a chance to run through the rest of their menu. The salt & pepper chicken wings were fantastic - great texture & very flavourful
Great
Food is very fantastic testing and enjoyable. Staff are very friendly and professional ,It’s a nice diner. We liked the food and the personal was really nice
The best Cambodia restaurant with Vietnam influence in Vancouver
The food is outstanding but the queuing is a bit ridiculous coz I need to wait about 45-60min in order to get the table. Once you get your food, you feel like your tired n hungry is relief
Did not disappoint
The food was amazing and well worth the typical 1+ hour wait for a table for lunch. They have a text message queue so we went walking around Chinatown to pass the time. The butter beef should not be missed.
Not worth the line up and money
I really have no ideas why this restaurant became so hot in Vancouver, every time I passed by there’s a long line up . Today I was doing grocery right beside and too lazy to drive to another place so I decided give it a try again ( after the first time I said not coming back again but I did, I know it’s stupid). I ordered 3 dishes, amok, wings ,beef rice. 1. Amok, $27.50, I thought a dish close to $30 should be a good dish , even though the taste not good but a good presentation should still there , just looks at the pic , I’m speechless.2, one of the famous items chicken wing, $17.80 for 7 little pieces whole chicken wing, and I think is kinda pricy and it just tastes just fair. 3, one the famous dishes again-beef rice , the beef is really minced, If was not told , I can’t even taste that’s beef, also have not ideas why this is a famous dish in store. I can only taste it’s sweetness nothing else, no Cambodian spices flavour at all. At the first visit I ordered 7 items for two of us , was so disappointed, that’s why I only ordered 3 dishes today, but ALSO VERY DISAPPOINTED again, I will not come back for sure. The reason I leave 3 stars , just because the place is clean all the things I can see in store , and also even tho line up, the front door arrangement still in order. But the food just …… especially the amok, just like sh*t, how can they charge $27.50?
Not worth the wait
1 hour wait at 5 on a weekday. Food was nothing special. I agree with others that if you must have their food, take it to go and enjoy it at home.
This restaurant is an institution and it’s easy to see why!
Amazing food had by all three of our party. Our favourites were the Chicken Curry and the Butter Beef, absolutely amazing!! Love this restaurant and worth the two hour wait for a table, (went to the pub on the corner and they sent a text when table was ready). Highly recommended.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.
