The food was good - but certainly other problems
A busy evening in Miami Beach - so we had booked a table. Only 8 guests showed up in total. The place looks a bit like time has stood still for some years. We had the tasting menu and had very good food - but the price of 115 dollars is also very high. There were too little explanation about the different courses - you should expect this on a fine dining restaurant - and there was lot of time for the waiter to tell with so few guests, The main problem was the wine. We ordered a special white wine - the cellar had no more . so the old boss came with a suggestion to taste a wine from the French Savoie region in stead. He gave us a testing glass, did not know the exact prize of the wine - but we accepted the wine. He gave us the test from a previous opened bottle .. only 85 % full. And surprisingly he gave us that bottle as our bottle! We asked for a new bottle to be opened - and so he did. Conversation was a bit affected afterwards.
When ti came to the bill, the first version was with the 2 extra taste glasses on top - but they were removed after our protest.
Payment with Mastercard this evening was also a problem - they got a copy of my Mastercard - so now we will see what happens.
No, things have to be done differently if you will attract many fine dining customers in 2020
Good Pizza expensive to eat outside
Kind waiter, outside in pedestrian area being revitalized near hotels, shopping along the way. Pizza very good thin crust and salad- expensive in my opinion!

5 Stars for quiet-reserved-intimate and fine French dining
Dined here early Febuary 20120---
Sleepy excellent French food in South Beach--now 9 years and best kept secret for French food at finest in the 305. Overachieves from reservation system to landing in art deco Cadet Hotel---Clark Gable's home for a while and Pied a Terre--30-35 seats--quiet and reserved with a loud cheer for excellence.
Terrific service and the food hits a note beyond that starting with excellent trio of Foie Gras done 4 different ways--each better than the last--the terrine--the poach and the pan seared with passion fruit and the potato gnocchi filled foie gras--all and each as good as I have ever had--sweetbreads are done perfectly as well---Next go to Beet Salad --will be memorable and a star. The main courses of Halibut over risotto with wild mushrooms--the Duck a la Orange hits all the marks and the desserts overachieve as well with the floating islands that will smash all diets yet is as light as aire with the ever fresh plump berries surrounding the anglais made from heaven.
And the wine list is tailor made for everyone--not just overpriced known names--but carefully selected growers wines from small artful chateaus--especially the champagnes--downright accessible prices--same champagnes as La Bernadine--most famous restaurant in NYC.
Go there as soon as you can and experience real french food like no other in the 305.
Not the best place for a special event
I reserved this place for my wife’s birthday.
I put this in the reservation, but I do not think the administration even looked at it.
The owner, I suppose it was him, was only interested in a positive rating of his place.
Food had nothing exceptional.
Sweat-bread was interesting as appetizer, but the Terrine de foie gras was injected with a kind of mousse, not very pleasant when you ate it.
The Filet was more than average, and the Bouillabaisse had nothing to do with the South of France Original. It was totally tasteless.
Service was a real adventure, as there was only one young lady serving the whole restaurant. So if you wanted mores water, more bread, or only your bottle of champagne served, you had to wait your turn, after the whole other customers were served.
3rd time and not the last
Best foie gras in town. You’re going to have to fly to France to find anything remotely close to the wonderful, simple and perfectly sized dishes served here. Highly recommend.

A long time member of the Chaine des Rotisseurs, I consider myself a bit of a foodie (ok some call it demanding an exacting standard that can’t be met by modern kitchens). I am thrilled to say that I had a WONDERFUL meal here. This was exactly how food and wine pairings should be. I had one of the three warm foie gras appetizers and it was unique, lovely, and different, enhancing the individuals flavors without overwhelming the amazing foie gras. I would tell you which one but from the overheard conversations nearby, you can’t go wrong with any, The main course, halibut with mushroom risotto, was perfectly cooked, and the flavors perfectly melded. I rarely post because I am seldom moved to do so. I am now. Bring a date, a special date. You will be well rewarded by entrusting your precious time, taste buds and date to the caring hands of Pied a Terre. A clear 5 star and I wish I had more to give.

A terrific romantic modern French cuisine in a beautiful Art Deco setting in the Cadet Hotel. Walk in to the Cadet and their small but classy Art Deco bar, then into Pied a Terre, up a few steps from the lobby. Tres comfortable soft chairs in a lovely dining room. The foie gras is terrific....we had it, as recommended by owner Patrick Gruest, four ways....poached in a tasty broth; torchon; sauteed; and lightly fried in potato spaghetti....all delicious. The “updated” duck l’Orange was similarly excellent....a lighter sauce still gently with the orange flavor; tasty breast and confit leg. Great veal chop. The isles flottante was perfect. Reasonable wine list....we enjoyed an excellent 2016 Santenay that was $68....far less than we have paid for similar bottles in the last few days. The staff was excellent as well, led by Monsieur Gruest, who was knowledgeable and great to talk to about his lovely restaurant and its cuisine. If we lived here, we would be regulars! A true hidden gem, just a block or two away from Loew’s, the Delano, Sagamore, and Ritz. Highly recommend! Can’t wait to return!
