Recommend for lunch
Just went to Pippali for the first time. I chose to go at lunch and ordered the salmon tikka thali. It is a huge round platter with a number of small dishes holding items that would otherwise be a la carte. So a great deal for $17.95. Also there is a large basket of delicious naan. I liked the salmon a great deal. All lunch offerings, veg, chicken, etc. were offered thali style. Nice service.

Good food and attentive service. I came solo for lunch. The white table cloth, tidy restaurant has a simple menu for lunch. Simple but yummy.

I ordered for lunch for 3-4 days. The taste is superb and the portion size are very good. Only drawback what I felt was the almost same menu for order every day :-)
Be the first to ReplyGreat Service, Okay Food, Fantastic Cocktails
Made a reservation but at 5:30 on a Friday the place was not busy.
The service was attentive without being a bother.
We had 3 different cocktails and each one was phenomenal. I especially suggest the golden margarita, it was just a little bit spicy!
The food was just okay. A little bland and the chicken was dry but I loved the samosas.
Decent (veg)
Not the best indian place in NYC but the food was decent when you need your fill of desi grub. We are the paneer makanwala and black daal.

The staff were friendly enough and it was a quiet evening. We were shown to our table, the lady who served us asked me if I wanted a chicken tikka masala before I had time to look at the menu! When our food arrived you could tell that it wasn't freshly cooked, I did have chicken tikka masala and it was horrible. The chicken wasn't marinated in any spice, just plain chicken tossed into something that tasted like tomato sauce. Very disappointed.

The restaurant is another run of the mill Indian restaurant in the city. Food was pretty decent - nothing to write home about. Service was classical “indian” - not great - “could not care attitude”.
Be the first to ReplyWas formerly my go-to Indian restaurant in NYC
Been there many times when my son lived in the Kips Bay area. Returned last month after an 18 month absence and was very disappointed. We I asked about the new menu, we were told the restaurant was under new ownership and they changed the staff, chefs and menu. While the staff was attentive, the food quality took a huge hit and the menu is now very unimaginative. Be very careful of the ratings since most of them reflect the former excellent restaurant, not the new one with the same name.

This place is so awesome.. We work in NY, and try various different restaurants in Lex avenue.. I think this place has the best quality food for Indians (punjabi and rajasthani thalis).. Loved their Chola, panner peas masala, and everything else ! fantastic & courteous service.. I have seen this restaurant from its 1st day and I feel the quality hasn’t changed a bit . Keep it up guys. You might need reservation after 5 pm . Dinner is good but a little expensive .. enjoy the food though .
A good evening with lots of sound.
Friday and a busy evening.
Service was good. Enough attention straight from the start.
We ordered lots of various meals, including chicken, lamb, mince and mushrooms. All tasted very nice with some properly made naan.
The price is “New York”-high, so nothing new there.
So what was missing to make this a 5-experience? The noise-Level.
It’s just too loud. Could do with some dampening in the roof. Only requires a 30% cover to make a huge difference.
Will be back at some point
Nice impromptu stop
Tried it on impulse for dinner and loved it. Food was great,, service prompt and friendly. I had Ludhiana chicken curry, yellow dal and all the things that go along with that combo. Really, really good. I know there are many good Indian restaurants in town but if I found myself back in that area I would certainly eat there again.

I was there with my friend for lunch, but unfortunately I am not happy with food and service, we had two thali but only the chicken biryani was tasty.
