Pokémon Café Chuo City Reviews from The Last Year
Extremely expensive with poor seating arrangements
My kids are nuts about pokemon, as yours probably are too. Bookings are always filled up quickly, but we saw at least two families able to get a walk in when we went at 4.45pm. As expected the food is BEAUTIFUL and cute (and somewhat tasty too), but the portions are extremely small for the price paid. You also get a pikachu mascot come out to dance in the 90 minute time slot. We could only get a booking at the huge table which had big plastic partitions between each of us just like COVID times. Meanwhile the walk in customers could get a proper table which I didn't understand. Anyhow I don't think I will need to go back.
Pokémon Cafe is a Requirement for any Pokémon Fan
Great dinner for a tourist and Pokémon fan, good food good service and good atmosphere. Make sure you book in advanced, also a bit expensive for what you get. Opposite the Pokémon centre which is also a must visit. Overall, a good experience for any poke fan visiting Tokyo.
Pokémon Cafe Review
The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great, the staff were friendly and helpful. Loved the Pikachu Apparence at the end. If you are a Pokemon fan, I definitely recommend you go and you need to book on the website in advance (which is difficult). The only thing let that it down slightly was the Eevee Tea drink, it didn’t taste that good to me but everything else was amazing. Definitely would go again.
Pokémon cafe really worth it ❤️
We had a great time at Pokémon cafe. Thanks appointment trader for making this possible
Book in advance and temper expectations
I'm not a huge Pokemon fan, but my sister and niece are so I went to get them souvenirs. Definitely book in advance, reservations open a month in advance and on Japan time so it'll be early AM in the U.S. If you don't you'll have to wait in the standby line. You can also order souvenirs to pick up there. The elevator goes straight to the Pokemon floor, the opposite doors will open, you'll see the Snorlax. On the left will be the cafe. The right will head towards the Pokemon Center store. The store is very crowded, Osaka's is much more open but shares the floor with other stores. You line up for the cafe queue for your slotted time. No point in showing up 15 minutes early. The person handling the queue will check your name (I recommend printing out the reservation for foreigners to make it easier) and give you instructions on where you sit. The cafe will be mostly empty. I guess they can only handle so many orders at a time. You'll order off a tablet, the button to change languages is in the lower left corner. After you order, then you wait for the food. Every drink you order, you get a coaster so a woman came around and had me pick a random card on her tablet and handed me a coaster for each. You will get a ticket for each collectable item you order like, the Pikachu mug or Pokemon glass. You pick those up when you go to pay. The food is pretty average, portions not that great, but not terrible either. There's of course the show where someone in a Pikachu costume dances and walks around. The women next to Pikachu steals the show though. So energetic and animated dancing alongside. When you queue to pay, there's shelves of goods where you can buy the plates or silverware or other things. Some of the stuff has to be bought when you checkout for your reservation though.
Setup was Awesome but food was pretty average
The no.1 thing that bugged me was the booking of a table. It is near impossible to book one at times. And most times, all time slots are fully booked. Nonetheless, there were still people waiting in the que for standby for an hour before giving up. Setup was great if you appreciate the pokemon franchise. However the food options were quiet limited and tbh was pretty average. The decoration was mainly the main attraction of the place, and also it being next to some Pokémon Machine and it's Pokémon DX Store. It's worth more of a visit for the franchise and decorations rather than the food.
Bad Reservation System and Queue without Reservation
The Pokemon Cafe is fully booked, the reservation open one month before which is too early. You are not welcome if you book you trip last minutes, unless you are lucky to pick up the released reservation at a random time you logon to the system. There is a line outside for those who wish to wait for any cancellation. THIS LINE IS FAKE, don’t fall for it. We waited 2 hours from 6:25pm to 8:35pm. They have empty table, but they are not serving. And then at 8:45pm, they asked you to leave with “the last order of the day is over”. EVEN WHEN THERE ARE MANY EMPTY TABLE AT 8:35pm. They claimed that they are full house. They could have tell you to leave earlier, but they tell that “you can wait if you want” even when they know they won’t serve you, they just let you wait. We complained to the manager, he asked “the time is over, what would you do?”. Well done, well done Pokemon Center! You should have a better reservation managing system, not by putting a line outsides even when you know you are not able to serve anyone at all. Effort could be made to tell that no cancellation at a partifular timing and close the waiting line!
Expensive, touristy but what do you expect?
Pro tip - Book in advance. I heard a rumour that the day before they sometimes release tickets for the following day. Be wary that turning up without reservation might have you queuing for hours. Now that’s out of the way, this was a fun one. A childhood dream… so when our bill came to 16,000 yen (we had about 5-6 food items which is way more than what you should have + 3 souvenirs) I wasn’t that fazed. So be warned, it’s overpriced and the food is mediocre. But, the experience of going to the Pokémon cafe, trying the Pokémon themed food and watching a massive Gengar waddle around and wave at you makes the experience incredibly fun and worth it to anyone who grew up watching Pokémon. As I said, the food is mediocre at best but its presentation is great. All Pokémon themed the food was picturesque and does the job. The cafe itself has cool and has many places to take pictures.
Waiting… waiting… waiting…
We waited for 2 hours and had no idea if we get in or not. Japanese system in this cafe seems to be extremely weird. There is absolutely no way to know if you are going to get into the cafe at all or not…
Cuteness Overload
Pokemon Cafe is a must do for Pokemon lovers. The food is so so, but let's be honest, you're not coming here for the food. The Pokemon themed dishes are adorable. You can preorder special items such as rubber coasters or keychains when you book your table. Many drinks come with special items, albeit cheap thin plastic or paper items still very cute. You can also order cups that your drink comes in. Don't worry you'll get a clean new one at the register. You get a random paper pokemon placemat and menu to take home as a "free" souvenir. Customer service was excellent. They have you check your merchandise at the counter prior to buying. There was a cute Pikachu show. Everything is way overpriced, but again, that is expected for a restaurant like this. Planning tip: Tickets are tricky to score, so plan ahead otherwise you'll end up spending your day waiting outside the cafe hoping someone is a no show. People can cancel their tickets up until 10pm the previous night a lot of people will cancel just before this time. So if you can't score tickets right at 6pm when tickets for the next month open you might get lucky like we did.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.

Reservations could be posted for a variety of reasons. Most likely, the person who secured the reservation can no longer attend - to avoid accruing a "no show" fee, they can find someone to take their place.
