Pomp & Circumstance Brooklyn Reviews from The Last Year
Came for the $18 happy hour special which includes one
Came for the $18 happy hour special which includes one pita, one spread, and a drink. Got both the rye and semolina pitas (the latter is the superior for sure) with the baccala caponata and labneh. Was pleasantly surprised by the baccala caponata, as I'd never had that and was a little nervous. The labneh was fine, pretty standard fare. The wines were also fairly standard but for the price altogether very much a worth it experience. Recommend making a reservation and sitting at the bar- our view of the oven was a nice added experience. Would come back for this price again to try the other spreads.
Everything here was excellent! I called to check in about
Everything here was excellent! I called to check in about outdoor dining and though the answer was "it depends," the restaurant was very agreeable about setting up a table the night outside my friends and I were meeting up in the area. Service was excellent throughout the night. Everything we tried was super delicious and the prices were very fair. The $18 dollar happy hour was a great deal because you get a drink, dip, and pita, which normally would add up to quite a bit more. We tried the labneh and foie gras (not included in happy hour) with both pitas and both were exceptional. Loved how fluffy and warm the pitas were. We also got a shrimp Bolognese fusilli. Unique and delicious. We also got to try the meatballs (very very good) and a short rib flat bread (my least favorite). Wheelchair access details: there is a small step to get inside. I don't know if there is a ramp or accessible restroom is available as I didn't have a need to go in.
A very nice, lowkey spot.
The ambience was great. Customer service was excellent. Our waiter, Ryan, was kind and super helpful and even introduced us to the chef. The food was overall good but some dishes could use a little more seasoning. My favorite dishes include the kale, the chicken (so juicy and flavorful! Not dry at all!), and the bread and dips of course.
Great wine list, bread and dips.
I only wish the place was bigger so reservations came easier. I could come here weekly.
Came here for RW with a friend and was not disappointed! So
Came here for RW with a friend and was not disappointed! So much food was included, it was a great deal and I was so happy. I heard they also have a great happy hour that includes wine and a dip! The food was delicious, standouts for me were the risotto (a surprise favorite) and the hummus. We also got the onion dip, which was good but I think we should have gotten the labne and the lamb meatballs. These were also good but had so much cream on them that I think it was overwhelming with the sauce the meatballs come in. The pita was fresh-fresh and mouth wateringly delicious little soft pockets of bread. So good. The desserts were very rich and not memorable. Service was good and we both enjoyed our wine. The ambience is quaint and relaxed. Not stuffy- a great place to even join for solid dining at the bar. 4.7/5
Great dinner in a cute, casually classy spot.
We came during Restaurant Week, and were excited that they let the 2 of us share one Restaurant Week and add a dish. We started with a Bottarga dip with rye pita. LOVED the pita, so soft and fresh. The dip was pretty good, very oniony, a bit fishy with the roe. We then did the kale salad which was pretty solid too. I liked the crisps on it. For our shared plates, we did the casarecce and added on lamb meatballs. The casaracce was really filling and pretty good. The lamb meatballs came with 4, but were fairly large. Also solid. We were super full at this point. We ended with the chocolate torte, which had a nice gooey middle. Pretty small, but solid. Overall, everything was pretty good but nothing wowed me or was super memorable. I don't feel the need to come back. I'm also glad we split a Restaurant Week since it was enough food for us. If you have a bigger appetite or are super hungry, I'd consider adding on more dishes or getting 2 Restaurant Weeks.
What a great spot! They even have happy hour 4-6pm everyday
What a great spot! They even have happy hour 4-6pm everyday with a great deal! $18 for a pita, dip, and cocktail. I had the hummus, garlic dip, and Hugo cocktail which were all incredible! Extremely friendly and attentive staff! Great cozy vibes. Phenomenal location. Nothing more you can ask for - I'll def be back
The food was great! The pita and hummus was my favorite.
It was a bit pricier than I thought. The happy hour looks like a better deal. We made reservations in advance and were seated immediately, great customer service.
The pasta was literally bitter and tasted horrible.
We asked them why it was like that and they said it is how it's supposed to be and didn't offer to even replace it.
Overall rating: 4.
5 I went here last year and didn't really like it too much. I thought it was overpriced and/or should be labeled under fine dining. However, I recently tried again this year for a happy hour special I saw on my feed I wanted to try out. I'm glad I did! They did a redesign of the store and it feels a lot more modern than when I previously went. The staff was soo friendly. The HH deal was a small appetizer and a quick snack for me. I'm still not sure if this is the spot for me, but I definitely liked it so much more. I recommend giving it a try!
