Was in Beverly Hills and wanted to try new pastry shops to take to a gathering. Let me tell you, they were a hit! Pompadour is one of my new favorite pastry shops! It is chic, fresh, and bright place displaying pastry art. Each pastry is exquisitely made with amazing fresh flavors. When you pick out a pastry with a specific flavor, it tasted exactly like it should. I recommend the lavender cake or the lemon meringue tart. They were delicious! The service was great! They were thorough in explaining each pastry but I just missed the eclairs! They sold out! Will have to try next time. Can't wait to go back!

We got a strawberry cheesecake, strawberry tart and the pistachio delight. We shared these among 4 people. Each was good.

I'm gonna be a bit bias and somewhat critical towards Pompadour and going to write from a perspective of having to have been to other boutique bakeries in such category this one belongs to. Had this been the only such place in Los Angeles I would definitely rate it at four stars instead, but I'm thankful to LA have other wonderful bakeries that offer wonderful pastries to choose from.First, one of the biggest problem of pompadour could seem weird but it's important to me. It is their ambience. Every time I try to go in there there are two or three grim, old dudes, probably owners, that stand behind the counter, looking down at everyone who come in. Makes me feel quite uncomfortable. Sure, they hired an attractive lady to stand at the register and serve pastries but it doesn't help much.Second is the quality. If I were to compare their cream, frosting and pastry quality to something like, let's say, Artelice, I would draw parallels between Porsche and Audi. While visual presentation is good, their creams are a lot thicker and have a ton more butter. I could not finish them, way to rich.Overall Pompadour is a nice boutique bakery, but when craving sweets I'm going to pick another shop.
Be the first to ReplyMy boyfriend is a food snob (don't even get me started.
.. and I don't mean that in the way of he only likes to eat in Beverly Hills, I mean he's a true food snob, he watches cooking shows to fall asleep and will seek out the best steaks and the best fish and the most unique dishes in all of LA and then will figure out the perfect wine pairing b/c he's also a wine collector). His favorite desert is a napoleon, but the bakery he usually goes to was out, so I told him for valentines day I would handle the desert. I searched dozens of bakeries in LA to find the one with the best Yelp and Google reviews, that also had napoleons. Pompadour came up. So I called to place an order. When I went in the morning to pick it up, they told me the machine had broken so they couldn't make it. But to make it up they insisted on giving me other pastries, and then they made the Napoleons by hand, and then hand delivered them to me that afternoon so I had them in time. And while I got upset at them (initially), they were SOOOO friendly and happy that at first I thought "wow they must just be like this because I'm mad" and then I realized "no, they're actually just very happy!". When I tried the napoleon, I joked with my boyfriend that it was better than his bakeries (ha!) and while he said we would need to do a side-by-side comparison to truly tell (*rolls eyes*) he said it was one of the best ones he's had.Seriously, commend this place on customer service, attitude towards patrons, and also (most importantly) their desserts are like well worth the reviews they get (whereas some other bakeries in LA definitely don't deserve the reviews they get).

They have good fruit tarts, the lavender cake is very soft, the coffee cake bars are good, and the cheese cake is the best. We also tried the panna cotta and thought it was good but something had too much rose water in it. The pistachios cake was a little dense and hard to eat. Other than that we buy all our desserts here to take to all our Dr visits.
Be the first to ReplyThe dessert here is very good.
I had a chocolate . a lavender and forgot what the white one is but they were all really good. The only thing I did not like is they dont have description of the dessert so have to ask the counter person who was super nice.

Pompadour offers pretty pastries that are garnished with gold leaf. The Opera Cake (5 stars) was my favorite because of its delicious cake layers with chocolate and coffee flavors. I liked the Raspberry Tart (4 stars), which included a nice crust, light pastry cream, and sweet raspberries. I've had better versions the Chocolate Eclair (3 stars) with a vanilla pastry cream filling and Almond Croissant (3.5 stars). They provided 4 star friendly service. The packaging was nice, but it seemed to take some time to pack as I was anxious to leave because my parking meter only had a few minutes left. I don't think it's a new go to bakery for me, but it was good enough when I wanted sweet treats.
Be the first to ReplyOveral it's goodI used to like their macaroons a lot.
But already 3d time in row I got macaroons and they so dry , not fresh. Plus they raise prices . So disappointed

Was so surprised to see kunefe being offered here! So awesome and delicious, on top of the other awesome goodies they have here like the macrons
Be the first to ReplySuper cute store front and black and white checker tiles.
I picked some tarts, eclair, and cheese pastries. Only a few small tables available so take out is probably easier than try to sit down. Parking was limited and only street. I didn't try coffee so I want to come back for coffee and chocolate pine cakes.
Be the first to ReplyThis place was so awkward.
A person put a catering order in and so we were literally ignored for I would say around 8 minutes just waiting for them so we could get our stuff. The girl helping us was literally the only reason we didn't walk out because she was apologizing and it wasn't her fault. Stuff itself was ok but didn't feel valued as customers in the least
Be the first to ReplyGreate looking pastries.
Tastes not comparable to Bottega Louie, or Artelice which have both great tastes and good looks.
Be the first to ReplyAmbiance: the look of the place is chic and clean.
The pastries are beautiful and look like a work of art. Food: I got their cheesecake for a friend, macaroons and truffle. Their chocolate truffle was divine and super healthy. The store looks Parisian style so I can not wait to go back and try a coffee or a croissant. Their specialty is also an Arabic pastry called a "Knaffe " - have yet to try it.Location: located in the heart of Beverly Hills in Beverly drive.Parking: there is a structured parking on Beverly drive.
Be the first to ReplyHorrible customer service.
Not sure why but I've noticed every Armenian type store/shop has horrible customer service not sure if it's culture and that's how they operate in their country but they should definitely train their employees better Customer Service. Whatever happened to the old American saying "the customer knows best"?

A HUGE ย thank you to the Pompadour team for 2 birthday cakes that have exceeded anything beyond my expectations. The care and detail that went into every cake shows the passion the chef and team put into every request. I have nothing but great admiration for their work and I highly recommend them for special events and celebrations. From an elegant birthday cake for my mother in law, to a birthday cake for my 5 year old niece, Pompadour delivered and I'm so thankful!!
Be the first to ReplyReally great pastry, pomegranate tart with meringue on top.
I could tell it was a family owned business which I really appreciated. Very cute inside and the decor was beautiful. They put a lot of thought into the look. My only suggestion is putting labels on the pastries, I had no idea what I was looking at until I asked them. It would've been nice to see labels.
Be the first to ReplyCame in to get some cakes for a birthday sampler surprise.
Unfortunately I came in on somebody's first day and the order got messed up. She didn't accurately describe the taste profile of the white one (was confused about all the flavors tbh) and then forgot to box the third cake(tiramisu), which is my friend's favorite type of cake. The white I was under the impression it was vanilla caramel and it seemed to be merengue. Luckily, the lavender one is absolutely amazing, so my friend had only one cake that was a success. I went back the day after and they honored the tiramisu mistake (which was delicious) ย but didn't really apologize or explain the inaccurate description of flavors. I'd go back again for the taste, but not the service.
