It's shockingly easy to get a table here considering how good the food is, how nice the decor is, and how great the location is. Service is pretty good too. Works really well both as a neighborhood standby and as something for a special occasion. I wish the wine list was a little more extensive. But that's ok. Everything else is awesome.

I love them. The person who took the drink order was very knowledgeable about wine. We were very impressed. I loved his attention to detail in explaining the wine. The waitress came and said food would come as they were ready. That is easy for the Kitchen and wait staff but tough for customers. I was expecting more thoughtfulness in service because of their high price point. They suggested getting 5~6 plates for a party of three. We ended up ordering six dishes. Menu descriptions are very creative. Yeah, if the menu says "yuba" fancy, they are just TOFU SKIN. I felt like this was a Szechwan restaurant catered to non-Asian people. The menu is not intimidating like real Szechwan restaurant menus which come in the Chinese language. Well, the silverware on the table are chopsticks and a spoon. I like the idea, though. Dishes came in the order below. HOT & SOUR POTATOES TRIPLE CHILI YUBA NORI FRIED PORK CHOP DOUBLE-COOKED PORK JOWL SWEET & SOUR CHERRY MUSHROOMSDAN DAN LASAGNATriple Chili Yuba is super spicy. After we ate, we lost our taste buds. So, we couldn't enjoy the Sweet and Sour cherry mushrooms. Yes, they told me Yuba was spicy. Then, I hope they bring it with the last group. But they don't control their dish's timing. Right? So, unfortunately, for that, I leave three stars (more like three and a half) Also, they don't serve dessert... well, we were stuffed. So we were not in the mood for it. Including tips, we spend about $80pp. We ordered two cocktails, a glass of wine, and a bottle of beer beside six dishes. No dessert. If somebody paid for my meal, I would go again, but I don't think I will go there if I am the one paying the bill. (Sorry I will go to Rolo's with the same amount of money or across the street, Chachawan for cheaper eats)

I feel so lucky that this is in my neighborhood but honestly it's good enough to be a destination. They make what is gluten free legible on the menu and that means the world to me. Getting to try interesting, creative Asian food and not being worried about cross contam is so, so valuable. Two menu items were gf naturally but they were relaxed about it and willing to accommodate subs on other items. The ambiance is impeccable; velvet couches, original tin ceiling tiles, subtle and tasteful updates. perfect lighting, fine music. Our host/server was friendly and chill, greeted us immediately and we felt welcome and wanted, then went the extra mile to ensure our comfort, he also helped us select exactly the right order and when we had a question about the wine, gave us the most vivid, delightful walkthrough of the two by the glass skin contacts that we picked, which were really, really freaking good, and made better by the descriptions. We were just two random walkins and felt like cared for VIPs. We felt so welcome and taken care of. We got the shrimp, it was complex and balanced and surprising and satisfying. From start to finish this was a 10 out of 10. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to return.

This restaurant is fantastic! Very high end, creative and tasty dishes. It appears to be unassuming but when the food arrived it had us all in awe, and licking the bottom of the plates. I only wish they could do something about the aroma, which is off and lingers on your clothing for days.

In an effort to discover the hidden gems of Ridgewood, i just happened to walk in an hour before closing hoping for a decent bite with fresh ingredients and impressive flavor. I was a bit skeptical at first because the cuisine is not something I get the chance to try often, and while approaching the restaurant the outside wasn't very distinct. I rarely get the chance to have really good asian food because of my gluten intolerance so going into the experience I kept my expectations moderate. I ordered the black pepper prawns (even though I was leaning towards the fried chicken dish) and the server was kind enough to give me a taste of the wine he recommended to pair... which I ended up getting the full glass of, because let me just say if the wine was more dynamic and multi-dimensional than most people I meet (pic of bottle included) The host/server, Sully, was so personable & knowledgeable and answered all my questions before i could even ask, and I already know I'm high maintenance so I really appreciated the knowledge. The black pepper prawns were absolutely phenomenal, and the right level of spicy (though I am a person of color so my spice tolerance is a bit edgier than I somtimes think) but the wine helped dull the spicy aftertaste without triggering that acid reflux feeling. The prawns were mixed with celery, sliced rice cake, sliced mushrooms, garlic, basil, cucumbers and onion crisps with a bunch of seasoning/sauce that really took what could have been a simple almost salad-like dish and made it a Michelin level meal perfect for one. The prawns didnt taste fishy, the herbs were aromatic, fresh and used tastefully, and overall was reminiscent of a freshly made home-cooked meal by someone that definitely knows what theyre doing in a kitchen. Always appreciate having a meal that makes me feel healthy and energized after, rather than tired or sleepy. Ive got to say im astounded by the quality of food, the ambiance and even the wine though this is not the place for solo work/study dinners-- more like a non-pretentious upscale business dinner or an occasion like a date or meetup with your boojie family/friends. My tastebuds are already looking forward to returning and seeing what other unique creations they have to offer.

Tried this place for the first time the other night cause I wanted to see if it lived up to the hype. Spoiler alert: It mostly did! We tried a ton of things and they were all hits, with one exception.Sweet and sour mushrooms: insanely good, really scratched my itch for a junky-tasting sweet and sour dish. Fancy mushrooms with great chewy texture.Steamed Branzino: so effing good, although I might have liked for it to be spicier. Watch out for bones. Glass noodle with leaf celery and five spice tofu: this was the only miss for me. This dish was pretty bland. I could not detect any hint of "five spice" in the tofu and most of the celery was too tough to swallow and wound up in my napkin. Oh well. Steamed egg: Egg the texture of custard, with a supremely umami crunch from the chili crisp on top. Delicious. Black pepper prawns: knocked it out of the park. Perfectly plump and juicy shrimp with chewy rice cakes and crisp veggies. Tied with the egg for my fav dish of the night.Triple chili yuba: liked but didn't love; had a strong cumin flavor that I wasn't in the mood for. Texture was good. The only thing I found to be a challenging spice level, and I'm the kind of person who tends to order things "medium."Washed it all down with a nice bottle of orange wine that they helped me pick out. Service was great, not sure what all these other reviews are talking about. They have normal service (at least at dinner) now, you don't have to order at the bar. Our waitress was very sweet and friendly. Would love to go back and try more things!

This is great discovery in Ridgewood, a quickly gentrifying neighborhood in Queens. The best dish is the Kimchi Brined Fried Half Chicken--succulent, crispy, and well seasoned. Both the pork chop and the pork belly were also remarkable. The wife thought the potatoes were undercooked, but I like the chewy texture. The small plates system worked well for us--lots of culinary exploration. The service was excellent and I loved the restored-bar decor. This place is a winner.

We drove from Jersey to check out Porcelain because of all the great buzz we've been reading about. It did not disappoint! The food, the welcoming atmosphere, service, the diverse menu and eclectic vibe made the evening not just a meal but an experience. Kudos to the chef. The choice of recipe combinations work perfectly. This is a little slice of heaven and we'll be back.

I wouldn't say it's Michelin quality but very good for a local spot. The reason for three stars despite good food and interior is that fact that the service was horrible. The nicest person there was the male host with a mullet. The people behind the bar that also were servers have no idea about hospitality. They never smiled, were short and completely standoffish. The art of hospitality here is completely lost and the kids working here have no clue. When a dish was brought to our already crowded table they just shoved it in front of me and handed it to me so I had to try and find a way to make it fit on the table. I am so sick of these "cool" places not understanding how to treat people, it ruins the whole experience. I will never come back here due to the arrogance and poor service. Paying good money to be treated like garbage is not ok.

. and the food was deserving. Excellent flavor, fresh ingredients, nice size portions. The downfall that made it a one time try for us was first beer and wine only. No spirits. The second and even most disruptive was the music. I enjoy any vibe really, the music here was noise you would bury a loved one too. Nail yourself in a coffin beats.. it was disturbing noise. After working a long day, wanting to enjoy a great meal with my husband I wAs hypnotized to kill myself.. it was brutal, I felt very angry yes eating.. service was ehhh, considering there was no one there. But compliments to the chef. Not a revisit for us.

I read the New York Magazine review and thought I'd give it a try. Destination worthy indeed. The menu had some out-there items, but encouraged by friends I tried pork jowls, tripe, and rice cakes. No regrets - I particularly recommend the kimchi-brined chicken. Best chicken I've ever had. Add to that an amazing wine list and you have 12/10, would recommend.

This place is such a gem of a spot! I've been here twice now, and while that may not sound like a lot, it's only because they don't offer take out or delivery otherwise I would have ordered from them on a weekly basis! The second time I came here was also because I really wanted to try all the dishes I didn't get to try my first time there--that's how good their food is! And I'm sure I'll be back again because again, more items on their menu I didn't get to order yet. I've had their pork jowl (it's amazing, would recommend for your first visit), pepper prawns with rice cake (also amazing; also would recommend for your first visit), steamed egg with chili sauce (fantastic, though on the spicy side and has peanuts in case you have a peanut allergy), nori fried pork chop (the nori taste is really, really good! Only wish I could request a flavored rice as my base), orange beef (not bad, but not my fave), the whole grilled branzino (also great and I'm not a fish with bones fan so that's saying something), the kimchi fried chicken (fried perfectly yet chicken is so tender!), the pickled mustard rice, and the scallion rice (get the scallion rice even if you don't like scallions!). Every dish is flavorful and has authentic Asian inspired flavors that reminded me of so many favorite dishes eaten as a kid! They do have a bar with several cocktails and beers, but I did not have any although I constantly saw a waiter pouring and making drinks for others. They also offer full bottles. They also have a rotating dessert which consisted of a tofu pudding with grape compote and toasted black sesame puffs on my first visit and a coconut pudding bingsoo (Korean style shaved ice) with tart rhubarb on my second visit. Neither was truly spectacular to me though the bingsoo was more up my alley, but that is a personal opinion and does not hinder me from wanting to eat their main dishes at all! They were both worth a try and were enjoyed very much by other members of my party. Can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu. And then come back again to retry my favorites like the pork jowl!

The fish was delightful, everything else was so spicy I couldn't eat it. I actually started crying because we spent all of this money on food I couldn't eat. The server looked at me like I was an idiot but I probably am I just didn't realize how spicy the food was going to be. Also the wine is as really spectacular very nice selection.
