A Slice of Heaven
We drove from Jersey to check out Porcelain because of all the great buzz we've been reading about. It did not disappoint! The food, the welcoming atmosphere, service, the diverse menu and eclectic vibe made the evening not just a meal but an experience. Kudos to the chef. The choice of recipe combinations work perfectly. This is a little slice of heaven and we'll be back.
Be the first to ReplyAwful Service
Food was good. I wouldnโt say itโs Michelin quality but very good for a local spot. The reason for three stars despite good food and interior is that fact that the service was horrible. The nicest person there was the male host with a mullet. The people behind the bar that also were servers have no idea about hospitality. They never smiled, were short and completely standoffish. The art of hospitality here is completely lost and the kids working here have no clue. When a dish was brought to our already crowded table they just shoved it in front of me and handed it to me so I had to try and find a way to make it fit on the table. I am so sick of these โcoolโ places not understanding how to treat people, it ruins the whole experience. I will never come back here due to the arrogance and poor service. Paying good money to be treated like garbage is not ok.
Be the first to ReplyVienna Revisited
You may ask why I borrow some of thee title from Allan Janiks book, Wittgenstein's Vienna Revisited. Partly because the book tell us about "Fin de siecle Vienna" in the decades leading to the World War that brought down the Austro-Hungarian empire. Vienna was at once an operetta dream world masking social and political problems and tension, as well as a center for the far-reaching explorations and innovations in music, art, science, and philosophy that would help to define modernity, I. E. our world today. Partly because I'm of Skandi Germanic heritage with Vienna beeing the birthplace of many thing's like the Danish, Lol, like the modern Kafe culture of today which actually was born in Vienna more than 150 years ago. With above in mind, I didnt know what to expect walking back from my visit to Houdinis last resting place in Cypress Hill. There out of the blue was a place called Porcelain, looking at menu I recognised a lot of things from my upbringing and low and behold when I went inside, there I found a real Viennese Kafe. This place is a must visit, good ambience, nice food at reasonable prices. I'll most deff be back.
