High standards and pleasant food surprise!
Singapore has an increasingly crowded restaurant scene; to stand out with great food that is unlike other cuisine is not an easy task. I was pleasantly surprised at the window into Colombian Spanish Japanese fusion food combining local regional experiences. Well worth the time and gastronomy journey.

My wife were given a dine in voucher at PRELUDIO by our son. We found the Menu Degustation titled âTwo Roadsâ, of an unexpectedly high standard. The rye bread, scallops, chicken âMille-Feuillesâ & rabbit lasagna were sensational, & artistically presented . To me, the desserts were not as good. Compared with other world class restaurants weâve been to eg Geranium in Copenhagen, Brae in Australia, this compares well. Service was efficient, & chef Fernando personally explained some of the dishes.
One complaint is the seating . Given Distancing requirements, we could not sit on the padded sofas; but had to sit on less comfortable chairs, on the outer edge, facing other guests. This becomes an issue , when the meal lasts at least 2 & 1/2 hours.
HAIR IN FOOD - DISGUSTING
We were at Preludio for lunch on 10th Dec (12:40pm seating) - the 3rd course was a SeaBass Crudo & my husbands dish had hair in it. On informing management they offered us a glass of sparkling green tea as a compensation (while I pay $$$$ for a meal green tea as an apology is more insulting than anything else.)
While this is highly unacceptable from any restaurant let alone a Michelin star where we pay for due service & quality. What was most disheartening was that the chef dint come in person in-spite of knowing how upset we were to offer any apology. A restaurant like this isnât deserving of the highest culinary accolades.
Also it was highly lacking in service, and unlike most Michelin star restaurants where they start with a complementary a mouse bouchée and end with a petite 4 with coffee nothing of the sort was offered here. Needless to say highly put off and disappointed and DISGUSTED
A four hour lunch, definitely recommended!
Very nice lunch, we opted for the shorter of the two lunch menus and we were both very happy that we did.
A four hour lunch, I would say that the food is certainly very nice but I wasn't completely blown away as I had hoped to be.
Beautiful presentation throughout, some delicious wines and the service was on point overall (albeit a bit casual and I am not sure that it was fitting for the waitresses to be wearing big white trainers in such a smart dining room!)
I recommend Preludio and I hope to be blown away next time I visit!
Horrifying Service, Never Returning
We live around the area and decided to give this restaurant a try since we saw a couple of good reviews online. Our dinner for 2pax is booked on mid-week as we want to avoid crowd if possible, especially during this pandemic period.
1. First to arrive for 6.30pm seating. Staff in their own world, we had to greet them to get their attention (interesting first impression yea?)
2. No introduction and rush us to start dinner. I assume they would check with customer if there is any dietary constraint? I need to remind her, Fyi a couple of dishes does contain ingredients which I am allergized to.
3. Asked for wine recommendation from this lady staffs (wearing a spec, hair is tied into a ponytail and dressed in coat which I assume is the manager). Brushes me off with two wine options without any explanation or checking on my preferences and just walked off. Wow~!
4. My first appetizer âWaves Lapping on the Shore,â I feedback to the staff that it is a little salty but overall is quite alright. Instead, she responded rudely âit is normal for soup to be salty but if you want, I can change it for the both of you.â
5. They just keep serving and didnât bother to inform us what is being serve and leave before removing existing plates/bowls from our table. When it reaches the 4th dish our entire table is full of dishes and utensils. It was a mess! I need to tell the waitress off to clear the table and ask before serving.
6. Joke time: The waitress sarca*tically told me, âIn this restaurant we do not have to ask before serving and dishes like bread we do not remove from table as we could replenish if customer want.â We were so mad and replied âWe were not told the bread is replenish-able when there is no introduction because you vanished straight after serving. I believe this is a fine dining restaurant not a coffeeshop/zichar place that table must be filled with dishes right?â
7. Especially there is this server tied her hair in a bun and alittle plu*p whenever we speak, she will also cut our sentence. It is extremely rude!
8. The food was good, but the service just gets worse over the night. There are 3 ground staffs and 4 tables of customers (2pax per table), they are not understaffing situation and their service is horrifying.
9. We get to meet the chef during our 9th dish âPata Negraâ and we shared with him how overwhelmed our experience with his ground staffs. He seems surprise and we wonder why? Living in illusion?
8. Another interesting thing we noted about this illusion chef, most of the time I notice he is chatting nonstop inside his kitchen through the glass door near the entrance. His ground staffs are also gathering in front of the entrance area laughing, which is also visible for him. If the chef doesnât bother about the service quality of his restaurant, why would his staffs be concern right?
Even though the food is pretty alright, but I would never recommend anyone. Who in the right mind would like to spend SGD700 (2pax,1 entry level red wine) have to endure such sh*tty services? Trust me, there are way better places in Singapore you could jolly well spend your time and money at. Cheers!

Art meets Cuisine
Some of the best crafted dishes under the tutelage of chef Fernando ArĂ©valo. His creations are objets dâart. They are sculptures and paintings on a plate. Superbly crafted from top sources. Each dish reminds one of a walk through a forest or garden replete with the visual artistry of sculptures on the path. They are an homage to the chefâs childhood and masterfully accomplished. It is a culinary walk through the childhood of Chef ArĂ©valo as seen and experienced through his eyes. Masterfully accomplished.

Firstly; the location is ideal for a restaurant like Preludio.
Like a hardcover on a story book awaiting to open; the anticipation awaits as one walks towards the glass door to Preludioâs entrance.
The accompaniment of the water fountain as we are greeted by the friendly staff who was ever ready to take the initiative and step forward whilst holding the door open - that made us as guests feel anticipation for what is to come.
I had decided to take my mom for lunch at Preludio and this is Chapter 3 lunch. One would think an establishment and menu planning such as Preludioâs would make dinner a better choice. However with its floor to ceiling glass windows, the natural lighting complemented its well curated interior and amazing choice of culinary ware which highlighted the curated dishes.
The food itself was robust in flavours and in my personal opinion, it was well portioned for lunch - however, for the carb lovers and breakfast-skippers - do add on the bread as an option.
We went for the 4 course meal for 2 pax; itâs price - fairly reasonable although Iâd say an additional $28 for the Baifun Uni didnât feel as worth as topping up $28 for the Wagyu Beef. However, thatâs my opinion - considering I get a 250g supply of Uni at a preferential rate elsewhere - I may be slightly bias in my review here.
As I was celebrating my guestâs birthday; I had added in a note and a mini experiential surprise awaits after we were done with the delicious meal! Definitely not the cliched candle on cake and birthday song - if youâre planning a place for a birthday, I shall not spoil the surprise for you or your guest.
Even I was pleasantly surprised - but for the curious minds: A small hint would be - think piñatas.
So here it is! My take on Preludio; 5 stars and a great place with good service, definitely a place to check out.
Thank you to the chefs and staff @ Preludio for making this such an enjoyable first experience and a fun birthday for my guest.
P.S. have decided not to share photos of the food as it would be a disservice to the experience.
Interesting journey, excellent service.
Very interesting concept. Nice ambience, excellent service. Especially enjoyed the drinks pairings and service from the sommelier. The food is beautifully presented and takes you on an interesting taste exploration. I think the concept makes it challenging to be wowed at every course but definitely a few wow moments. Not the absolute best fine dining in Singapore but itâs up there.

We quickly made an appointment after reading all the fabulous reviews on here. The pictures looked good and many TA reviews were predicting Michelin. Without much thoughts, we hurried to make it just before they open a new chapter to their menu.
The burrata I had was ok and the main of basmati rice was not bad. The suggested wine was a disappointment and so was a mocktail. The dessert was a complete failure - it was the most sour and sweetest stuff I'd had in a long while and we couldn't finish half of it. However, we did better than the table of all male executives seated near us because none of them made it through a quarter. How did I know? Because the table was left uncleared for quite a while after the men left so we were able to take an unwanted look at their left-overs.
Service by a couple of wait staff was fine but rough at the edges. Can't say the same for the sommelier. He was very friendly to one table of two girls on holiday (unbecomingly too friendly), spending time with them bantering for a long while, while being a little too stiff and unconcerned with other tables.
It's clear the restaurant wanted to emphasize presentation but I thought it lacked more - most things felt superficial. It felt that they wanted to put themselves up there as a sophisticated fine dining restaurant but it came across as a little pretentious and lacking because the soul was absent. For the price it charges, there are better ones out there.

Service and Food donât worth the price
Seldom would I want to write a bad review for a restaurant as itâs really personal taste preference.
I had make the effort to do some research to find a birthday dinner place for my partner and decide with Preludio looking at the effort they put on their concept of arts plus food and decided to go ahead even itâs not a Michelin star restaurant.
We decided a 8 course dinner $238++ per pax.
Not a cheap meal to start with. It start with the milk bread, that half way eating it, I notice there is a long hair dough inside the bread which I can lift up and hang the rest of my bread with the hair. Feed back to the server, she apologise and give me a new bread. I was expecting the chef should have came out to apologise personally when he is there the whole time. As a fine dinning restaurant, they should know how serious to have hair inside your food.
With much dissatisfaction to start the course with, we still decided to continue the meal as itâs a birthday celebration for my partner.
Food wasnât to the standard to charge the price but this is my personal opinion.
Was also disappointed that they donât make an effort to serve dessert with candles as I had indicated itâs for birthday celebrations, which most of the restaurant does. If they ainât doing anything special or donât even provide a candle, there isnât a need to allow customers to indicate is it for a celebration.
Wonât go back again for sure.
Good ambience. Great location. Creative presentation of food
Just has lunch yesterday at this beautiful restaurant and the food was wonderful. The service was cheerful and prompt. Definitely a place to have celebration.Great attention to details.
