Food is great
It is an older restaurant, and not clean or modern. That said, the food quality however is excellent. We have been there for dinner (large group set menu) and for lunch (large group dim sum), and both times the food quality was excellent. Service is very good too. No complaints on these two points. We are Chinese, multi-generational. So we have eaten in a lot of Chinese restaurants. It's not the worst, it's not the best. But in terms of food taste and quality of cooking, it is excellent. And the price is reasonable, actually a good price for the quality of the cooking that you're getting. So it's a good value.
Be the first to ReplyFood good but general dining experience not great
Good marks for the quality of the food. But as the Japanese say, presentation is also important. The place is old and it shows. I agree with other reviewers. It needs an upgrade.
Be the first to ReplyGood Food But...
Good food but the place was dirty and filthy especially the chair covers. Price was great. Service was lousy. If you are only care for food and price, then you may want to give it a try. Otherwise write this one off.
Be the first to ReplyRestaurant Needs Renovations
If I could have, I would have issued a Zero Star. This place needs health and safety renovations or should to be shut down. My in-laws always goes to this restauarant for dim sum and any type of celebrations for dinner. We were there for a banquet and was sitting at the (right side)back corner of the restaurant. We put our bags and cameras equipment on the floor and the waiting staff told us not to put things on floor as it was wet. The waitress brought some chairs over for us to put our stuff on it. We thought that they had just cleaned the carpet and it had not completely dried. We didn't realize how wet the carpet was. Halfway though dinner I realized that my chair cover was soaking wet at the bottom as the chair cloth draped onto the floor. I didn't want to make a scene since it was a celebration, but it was shameful on the part of the restaurant to have set our tables in an area that clearly should have been cordoned off as unsafe and unhealthy. After the meal other family member were complaining about it as their shoe soles were soaked through.
I don't know how the owners of a restaurant of this scale would continue seating paying customers to dine in an area knowing well that they had an issue with water soaked carpetting. If the dinningroom was so poorly kept I can image what the kitchen would look like. The food was so so (like any other Chinese Restaurant) and service was below standard. When dining chinese banquet style the waiting staff are suppose to serve everyone at the table and this was not the case. Often we had to serve ourselves. I will not be going back and I have advised my in-laws and family members to stay away from this restaurant. Service standards was not a one time occurrence. This has happened serveral times in the many years my in-law has insisted on going here. We have chosen not to submit a safety & health complaint as we feel nothing affects change with business practices faster than the loss of business. We challenge anyone to come see for themselves. You've been warned.

Good Dim Sum Restaurant but no carts
This was a good dim sum restaurant. They take reservations which is a bonus to reduce wait time. Unlike other dim sum restaurants that take the reservation but donโt respect them. The food was really good with many options. They have a good BBQ pork bun pastry which is one of their specialty items. The only downside is that they donโt have the carts driving through the restaurant to display the food. You have to know what the food is like when ordering off the menu. If youโre experienced with dim sum restaurants then this shouldnโt be a major issue. The service was prompt. The staff was friendly. The bill did take a long time to come the last time went 30/12/2018.

Found this place to be busy on a Tuesday at 11:45 am. But we got our table in 10 minutes. Dimsum is good and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyGood dim sum
This is a throwback to old dimsum houses I've been to. Service could be better but is typical of those days. Weekdays are easier to get tables but still busy... quite a bit of locals and regulars. A sign of a solid place. We ordered a set meal which makes the cost of lobster decent. Lobster was good, seafood congee was yum. We marked off how many of each of the dimsum we wanted on a sheet and was cooked fresh. Any dish that uses the rice noodle was really good!

Really wasn't very good at all. We ordered from the menu as opposed to the carts, so for food to arrive cold, congealed (har gow), dry (soup dumplings) was disappointing.
Bizarrely the first thing to arrive was our dessert, we ordered something mid way through the meal and it took 30+ minutes to arrive. Overall a poor experience, the one saving grace was the price. $11 pp including tip, but I'd much rather have spent $3-4 more for decent food.
Good Food
Found this restaurant at the southeast corner of Victoria Park and McNicholl, Did not see an English name on the signs but it is the big restaurant right at the corner of the intersection. Food was tasty. We had the lunch special: fried rice with large shrimps in lotus leaf. Yummy. And easily large enough for 2. Other food there was good too. Service was quite prompt. Depending on the size of your party, there may be a short wait. We went on a weekday. Lots of parking.
