How have I not tried this place yet??? Went there for lunch
How have I not tried this place yet??? Went there for lunch with a friend on Monday. I love Greek food and always up to try a new spot. Pylos was wonderful! For lunch I had the seafood souvlaki which was delicious. Nice big shrimp and pieces of salmon in a warm, fresh pita with just the right amount of tzatziki sauce. Comes with a salad and they were kind enough to out the dressing on the side. My friend had one of the gyro wraps and she loved it. They also have Greek French fries which I have heard are amazing. Unfortunately, my current eating plan does not include them but there is always a next time! Service was very friendly and prompt. They have a nice inside restaurant and a great outside setup with heat lamps. Yay! Hubby loves Greek too so we will definitely be back (I'm going to steal his fries ).
Be the first to ReplyWe are locals and we have been here many times.
Very consistent, and as vegetarians we really enjoy the dip samplers, the appetizer selection, and the moussaka. The owners are very friendly and happily accommodated various requests like when someone in our party wanted room temperature beer. Pleasant to sit both inside and outside. There was even one time an unruly customer was harassing a couple at another table, and the restaurant management found a way to usher them out without creating a scene. I was afraid with Doppio Zero coming up next door Pylos might lose business, but Pylos' food and consistency is far, far better.

Favorite Greek restaurant in the Bay! Love their fish dishes - always fresh and flavorful! And the staff is very friendly and helpful!
Be the first to ReplyHad a team dinner at this cozy Greek restaurant.
There were 16 people. The food was delicious. We started with appetizers, calamari, grilled octopus, dolmathes and pitas with assorted dipping sauces. All cooked perfectly, the calamari and octopus were the stars. Next the dinner course. I had grilled salmon with a Mediterranean sauce saffron couscous and sautéed veggies. It was fantastic. My team mates had, Moussaka, grilled trout, lamb shank, gnocchi, lamb skewers and everyone was happy with their meal. Service was superb. Try the chocolate Baklava for dessert if you have room!

The service is A++. I come here with my kiddos and they always speak to my kids in such a nice way. I'll sometimes order food for my 10 month old with lots of modifications and they never bat an eye. It's a big deal to have a restaurant fully accommodate your requests. Now for the food...my personal favorite is the avgolemono soup. It's so good. My 4yo loves it too. Their sampler platter of different dips is awesome. The salmon is good and so is the chicken dish. So is their salad. But the soup . I haven't gotten anything I haven't liked yet. Highly recommend.

I wish more people would come here! I don't write many reviews. I only do so for the extremes. Pylos is definitely on the positive side of the spectrum. We've come here a few times and it's always been great today we had the chicken souvlaki. All of the ingredients were of great quality. The chicken was amazingly tender and seasoned well. Too many places seem to use frozen or low quality ingredients. I think that's why Pylos stands out to me. We were really happy with the food and service here.

Simple - we came few minutes earlier than our reservation (see pics), the 4 of us, a waiter with the glasses said he will sit us down shortly, we patiently waited for about 15-20 mins, sat down at the table he pointed at earlier, only to get kicked out as "another guy waited for 2 hours", which is a lie, my wife saw him come in after her.

You will not be disappointed one bit. Service here is remarkable. Menu options are authentic and vast. Beverage selection is great. This restaurant has a heated patio for the outdoor diner. We take all of our out of town friends and family here because the dining experience does not compare to any other Greek cuisine in the area.
Be the first to ReplyFood was good but service was very cold.
Servers had a lot to say to each other, not so much time for us. Nice outside seating area.

We stumbled over this place after navigating to the wrong address. Very welcoming staff and delicious food. Chicken was extremely juicy and tender, tzatziki was amazing - super creamy and thick.
Be the first to ReplyHappy to find another great greek place in the bay.
Both the souvlaki we tried were excellent, but the chicken was amazing. Loved their tzatziki as well, super creamy. The dips were hit or miss, while they were all interesting to try I probably wouldnt order them again.

I was so looking forward to the Avgalemono Soup, the traditional Greek egg lemon chicken and rice soup. It is a taste of heaven. Sick or well, this is a culinary mood changer. I could live on this. I followed that up with the Chicken Souvlaki, absolutely delicious and the generous portions made for a second meal the next day. I hope they stay and thrive on Laurel Street for a long time. We deserve an authentic Greek restaurant as well run and offering delicious and authentic Greek food.
Be the first to ReplyI forgot to take a photo to post, but the Mediterranean
I forgot to take a photo to post, but the Mediterranean Gnocchi is absolutely delicious. Very generous portion, with a lot of artichokes, and amazing white wine sauce. I love the addition of fresh spinach. Overall it is a relatively light dish, which I will order again. Spanikopita and zucchini cakes were also divine, and we were pleased with the gyro wrap as well. I can't attest to the ambiance or service at the actual restaurant, this was a delivery order, but the man I spoke to on the phone to ask for a small side of tahini sauce (after already ordering on-line) was very accommodating.
Be the first to ReplyBest Greek food in the bay area.
Food is authentic and anything grilled is very good.

Food - the Saginaki I A+Service was wonderful Went there for a business lunch with a group of seven. The waiter was a perfect blend of observant, patient and non intrusive. He patiently waited and allowed the conversation to flow before taking the order. The amibiace stiles a good balance of Greek accents with a local Bay Area wine bar without trying to hard.

We stumbled upon this little Greek restaurant while in downtown San Carlos. I don't know why we've never been here before. It's located on Laurel street in the section that you can still drive down (i.e. not blocked off for pedestrians only), so that makes it easy to get to and you can park nearby. I had the Pastitsio which was probably the best Pastitsio I've had in a long time. The bechamel on top was like a cloud, and both the pasta and meat sauce were well-seasoned. The table next to us had the Pastitsio too and they were raving about it so I was in good company. Bravo on this dish. My husband had the lamb souvlaki wrap. He completely cleaned his plate. The lamb was tender and delicious. The server (possibly owner/manager?) was super friendly. It's a cute little restaurant downtown, with seating indoors and outside. We can't wait to go back here.

When you receive an incredibly warm and friendly welcome followed by exceptional service, delicious food, a constant flow of warm pita bread to scoop up the wonderful treats that keep appearing on the table.... what more can you say other than OUTSTANDING!

My husband and I have eaten here a number of times now, together and separately, and it's been a great experience every time. Delicious food, nice ambiance, a full bar, and delightful service, especially from the owner.
Be the first to ReplyTruly amazing quality food.
All we ordered was an A+. We tried the dried tomato dip with warm pita, it was crazy good. The chicken lemony soup was fantastic and tasted homely and nutritious. The garlic Greek fries are ones of the best I tried in the Bay Area. Finally the gyro wrap is the best I have had. Literally. All waiting staff is super attentive.Ambiance is relaxing, we seated outdoors and had traditional Greek music on the background that transported me to Mykonos.Coming back soon! And adding it to my rotation!
Be the first to ReplyI've been here a couple of times, both were for lunch.
Once I ordered the lamb souvlaki and once the falafel on the phylos salad. Both servings were plenty big. You can definitely get away with splitting your meal or taking some of it home. I also tried the chicken souvlaki plate. My daughter loved this dish. Her mouth was watering the next day to finish her leftovers. The greek fries are great too.

Be the first to ReplyGreat food and excellent staff.
They did not rush us,accommodated all requests, made good suggestions and recommendations. This is my third time at this restaurant in the last twelve months and their quality and service are consistently excellent.
Be the first to ReplyI had a craving for Mediterranean.
..specifically chicken skewers w/veggies and rice. My husband and I went to Pylos and they delivered. We started off with the Spanakopita which was HEAVEN: the fluffiest and flaky phyllo with a generous filling of feta and spinach. My chicken souvlaki was PERFECT: the chicken had great flavor and was unbelievably juicy and tender; rice was fluffy and the veggies not overcooked; my husband ordered the Falafel Plate: falafels were crispy on the outside and light/airy on the inside...not greasy at all. Then the Baklava for dessert...Baklava is one of my favorites and it was decadent: flaky, sweet, perfect chewiness between the phyllo, honey and pistachios. All in all...Pylos provides a wonderful dining experience with traditional Greek flare. We will definitely be back and tell others about it, as well.
