Wow. Among the best, if not the best, meal I've ever had. Incredible flavors, attentive and nice staff without being obsequious (we never felt as if were in the movie The Menu). My wife and I at a mix of very high end and cheap eats places during our five nights in Mexico City. This was the high end place that was worth the price. Go here.

I recently visited Quintonil and it was an amazing experience that included a tasting menu with a wine pairing. While I have done tasting menu’s before, I have not since my best friend has a wicked panic attack at The French Laundry (more on this, never) and after watching The Menu with Ralph Fiennes (the movie holds up a difficult mirror for gastronomy groupies). All that being said, I had to go. Right? It’s number 27 in THE WORLD. And yes the flavors live up to the hype. This restaurant is located in Mexico City and it is known for its riffs on Mexican cuisine. The ambiance of the restaurant is fantastic light and bright with tables not too close together. We opted for the seating at the bar so we could see the kitchen in action. Spanish and English are spoken (my elementary Spanish vocabulary was not forced into practice, desgraciadamente) equally well. I think there is AT LEAST a 1:1 ratio between staff and guest which is a bit overwhelming. And while I haven’t been there in decades, I was reminded of Alinea in the performative way dishes were presented. One aside, don’t miss the bathrooms- they smell amazing (not joking). Now, let's talk about the food. The dishes were elegant, creative, and delicious. The ingredients were fresh and locally sourced, much of the produce comes from a garden close to the restaurant. I highly recommend trying the tasting menu, which showcases the best dishes of the restaurant. Be sure to get the wine pairing as the wines are as complex as the food and very thoughtfully paired. The food was complex and creative- a butternut salad that tasted like buttery, carmelized goodness, but included blanched butternut squash and tomatoes or corn chawanmushi, uchepos foam, ikurriña, and vanilla oil (think salmon roe in custard with drops of vanilla added at service) all surprising and delicious. The dessert served with a pairing of pear cider was a crème fraiche ice cream topped with caviar and passion fruit. Okay, that was decadent. Overall, I had a wonderful experience at Quintonil. The food and the ambiance were exceptional. The restaurant deserves it’s standing on the list of the world’s best restaurants, absolutely. Personally, I have noted a change in my preferences for restaurants after a COVID. I want connection. I want a friendly staff that wants to engage with its clientele. I want the conversation within my dining and extending to the restaurant staff to be warm and meaningful. I am very lucky indeed to have been able to eat at Quintonil. The food was some of the best I have ever had. However, I wish that the connection with all of that staff could have been more natural and less performative (a small criticism due to the isolation brought on by the pandemic).

Really nice tasting menu experience in a casual, unpretentious setting. Service is top notch. We couldn't get a reservation, but as luck would have it, we checked again online one last time before giving up and someone must have canceled because we got a last-minute reservation. We opted for the tasting menu with wine pairing. Only four stars because I didn't love every single item, but they were all delicious and wines were spot on. For example, I couldn't really taste the crab because the sauce overwhelmed it and oxtail wasn't tender enough for me. Highly recommended for a great foodie experience in CDMX.

Get the kitchen bar if you can. It gets hot, but worth it to observe the extraordinary care and precision in execution for every dish. Quintonil is simply a triumph; a tour de force of Mexican cuisine. Highly memorable and well worth every penny. Bravo!

Flawless, Unpretentious Service: Food Doesn’t Live Up to the Staggering Price Point

Quintonil is a beautiful and unassuming spot, with flawless, friendly and unpretentious service. The food is inventive and interesting but for the staggering price point (even by NYC standards) I left disappointed (and hungry) with the overall dining experience. Of an 11 course tasting menu, the majority of the dishes featured fish or seafood products and very limited meat. I found several of the dishes “fishy” and/or over-sauced (especially a soft shell crab dish that looked delicious but was sauced so heavily the crab disappeared completely). There is always a risk of not liking dishes on a rigid tasting menu, but in this case, the dishes seemed very limited in their taste profiles, resulting in a number of dishes in a row that I didn’t really want to eat.

Had great dinner at Quintonil in MX City, #8 among 50 Best restaurants in World. Started with small center of Romaine lettuce filled with bits of bacon, small capers, Parmesan cheese and Italian salad dressing: delicious! Main course was tenderloin center cut with Petitte potatoes & veggies. Steak was so tender it could be cut with spoon. Juicy and meaty taste. Paired with Carmenere red wine. On the side had small portion of Mole Madre with blue corn chips: taste of old Méjico. Service was excellent and friendly. Kindly allowed me a photo with Chef and 2 of his assistants . Quintonil deserves to be #8 of best 50 or even top five. Highly recommend to visit this fine restaurant.

Every dish at Quintonil was a visual and gastronomic delight. Our experience included four plates featuring insects that could not be seen or detected other than in the accompanying show-and-tell materials. Even the cloth napkins had an ant embroidered thereupon. The servers were professional, bilingual, and clearly enjoyed their professions. We enjoyed a cocktail, Quintonil Water, that included worm salt.

OVER PRICED and OVER RATED

This is the first review I have ever written. Our meal was such a disappointment that I felt obligated to warn people. We booked months in advance. Our group has travelled the world eating and drinking and we were unanimous in our assessment that this place is OVERRATED, OVERPRICED and Under Flavored. After arrival we waited 15 minutes before someone even came to our table. The food was bland and lacking creativity. The service was disorganized with lots of people standing around doing nothing when we needed more wine, water, etc. A few of the dishes were so unappealing that we did not eat them. This was the most expensive and worst food of our 4 dinners in CDMX-by far! Maybe in the past this was a go to place but now it is just milking it’s reputation. With so many great places to eat in CDMX, save your time and money.

Disproportionate treatment

Disclosure - my rating for the tasting menu is a 4.5. The 2 star rating is based on the disproportionate treatment we experienced. There were 3 other solo diners sitting at the counter enjoying the tasting menu, and we noticed that the kitchen had my boyfriend and I share a few of the dishes while the solo diners experienced full tastings to themselves. Bear in mind, we paid the same price per person as the other tasting menu diners. Additionally, we noticed the gentleman to our right received portions more than double the size of ours and we’re unclear if it had anything to do with race. Although the tasting was a truly enjoyable experience (palate wise), we may not return due to the extremely noticeable inconsiderate treatment.

Know what to expect so you're not disappointed

If you’re a true foodie who loves to hear the (many) ingredients that go into every dish and savors the melding of often unexpected flavors (creme fraiche, salmon roe & vanilla, for example); or if you really appreciate dishes presented in an artistic way - tiny flowers placed (with tweezers, I’m sure) atop tiny dishes in pretty tiny bowls; or if you like a large variety of small bites and tastes vs a large plate of fewer tastes; or if you like a dining experience with lots of friendly servers constantly coming and going (necessary when you’re serving and taking away 10+ dishes) then Quintonil is an excellent choice for you. If, however, that sounds a little fussy and formal, the idea of a 2+ hour dinner doesn’t appeal, you appreciate simple, uncomplicated dishes more than complicated ones, or you’re not comfortable dropping several hundred dollars for dinner, there are better dining destinations for you.

Been to 50 better

Whilst I appreciate some of techniques used to create these dishes are beyond us mere mortals, I'm afraid most of it just didn't taste good. At all. The biggest issue I found was textually so many of the dishes were soft/mushy with nothing to break it up. No dish was particularly stand out really tasty. Had a more enjoyable meal at most restaurants I've been to at a fraction of the price. The service is exceptional and the staff are friendly, helpful and attentive but the food was incredibly dissapointing.

OMG! We are spoiled by the finest, the best, the most memorable...... We had no idea what we had reserved! From the moment we were seated thru to signing our credit card receipts, this was exceptional!! The staff 1st handed us, with a tong, a small brown paper bag for our masks.... Who does that! Napkins were placed in our laps, also with a tong. We were given an amuse bouche as well as a palette cleanser after our meal. The kitchen is top notch, innovative and very thoughtful. Now, it's our standard and so far, everything else pales in comparison.

Yet another case of Quintonil food poisoning

Mexico City is one of my favorite cities and we’ve had some of our best meals including Pujol and Rosetta. So my partner and I were looking forward to finally trying Quintonil. We both had the set menu with wine pairings for $300 per person. About 45 mins after the meal my partner and I both felt off. We then experienced violent food poisoning for the next 24 hours. We called the restaurant the next day to let them know and they seemed unconcerned. With so many incredible fine dining options in this city, I suggest avoiding Quintonil.

We are big foodies so naturally we booked Pujol (#9 restaurant in the world) and Quintonil (#27 restaurant in the world). We loved Quintonil way more than Pujol, and appreciated that the owner/chef of Quintonil was there in the kitchen when we came. We sat at the bar so we can see the kitchen and we did the tasting menu. It was definitely a meal to remember! We dined for 2 hours but we are pretty fast eaters & don’t like to drink or hang around.

Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

Best Answer Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.

Best Answer Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

What happens if my bid expires unanswered?

Best Answer Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
