Quintonil Ciudad de México - Buy Reservations

My husband and I both ordered the tasting menu. Every dish was unique and flavorful except the pork cutlet which was dense, fatty, and almost inedible. If you get this menu, request a substitute for this course.Our bill was $500 USD without tip (we ordered a bottle of wine which was $85). For a dinner at this price, we were disappointed by the atmosphere.

We were first seated at a table in the back of the restaurant where the bar is. It was noisy and an air conditioning fan blew relentlessly on us. We asked to change tables, and fortunately, we were able to move. A group of eight diners clearly drunk were shrieking and carrying on in that room.

The restaurant needs linen tablecloths and a calmer atmosphere. We were constantly disturbed by a frantic parade of wait staff and managers behind us. It was frenetic. Sometimes two waiters were leaning over us to explain the food. It’s so noisy and small that we strained to hear the descriptions and gave up on understanding the courses.

For this price, we expect quiet and clam service in addition to quality food. We were frazzled. It was quite a splurge for us and we are so disappointed that we spent this much money. We loved La Capital in La Condessa—inventive Mexican food in a beautiful garden at one-tenth the price.

I walked in at Quintonil as a solo diner at 3.20 pm on Sat (they close at 4). After what seemed like a bit of begging, the hostess spoke to her boss, and promptly came to tell me that given I had no reservation, was a solo diner, there were no tables available and they were closing shortly, my only option was the $160 dollar tasting menu! I told her that I was seeing an empty 2-person table right behind her and also also asked her why they would want to push a 10 dish menu if they were closing shortly, as she had just said. She continued to say that the tasting menu was the only option I had.

Seems to me that they had left over lunch tasting menus and wanted to get rid of it at any cost. Such poor etiquette.

Horrible do not bother! I was on a “waitlist” I never received a confirmation of a reservation and then I was charge $250usd. I emailed the restaurant and they said that’s our policy but I never got a confirmation for a reservation. Scammers do not go here!!!!!

We were all looking forward to visiting this highly rated restaurant, but we ended up extremely disappointed in our overall experience. The only reason I am giving the restaurant 2 stars is because the service was excellent. First of all, the restaurant makes it very clear upon booking that your reservation will be considered a no-show if you are more than 10 minutes late, yet we arrived early, and sat for 20 minutes waiting to be seated, and were finally seated 10 minutes after our reserved time, without any apology or acknowledgment. We ordered the 10 course wine-paired winter tasting menu. Overall, the flavors were bland and boring, but with a beautiful presentation. The only dish that we truly enjoyed was the box crab in a green mole with blue corn tostadas. When dishes described containing a bit of habanero oil or other spices, they were all under seasoned, and it was hard to find any heat or flavor. The pairings seemed a bit off as well, for example, we were served a bitter dessert with a bitter dessert wine, and the restaurant seemed enamored with their appliances producing foams, mouses and crunchy dehydrated “guava rocks” for dessert. We told the people at the front desk about our experience, but they didn’t seem interested and just said “thank you.” Quite a disappointment when spending the equivalent of $255+ US!

This was my first visit to Mexico City . My friends and I wanted one "Special" evening meal and selected Quintonil for the tasting menu with wine pairings. Not only was the food bland, the overall experience was a disappointment. We were told there was a strict 10-minute window for arrival or our table would not be available. We arrived early only to wait 20 minutes with no explanation or apology. It appeared that the chef had gotten a new blender because each of the 10 courses had some sort of bland, pureed addition - or something with tasteless foam. Several times the waiters mentioned that the dish would have a hint of habenaro - not only was there no hint of "heat," there appeared to be no seasoning at all.(Even salt would have helped.) At the very least, we were expecting some sort of to-die-for-dessert - -no. Another bland but bitter fruity offering paired with a vermouth bitter wine. If I could give this restaurant a minus-star, I would. I suppose the one-star is because the wait staff was actually excellent but serving below-par, mundane food. What was meant to be our "special" meal in Mexico City was nothing but a very expensive (nearly $300 USD!) disappointment. When we left and the front staff asked how we liked it - we told them. Their response, Thank you. I will definitely never return.

Nice Location and Really Great Service. The dishes looked amazing and we expected a taste on the same level. But To be honest…we missed the wow-Factor.
