The food and ambiance here was delicious and cozy and perfect for a cold day. I had the spicy raku udon. The noodles were the perfect amount of chewy and the length was perfect. The short ribs were so good. And the broth was so good I want more already. The staff were so quick and made the experience so seamless. I've heard such great things and it definitely delivered!

I had a prior appointment nearby and was happy to see the Raku was nearby. I've only tried the east village location to compare but for the most part they seem to be on par with quality. (I do prefer the East Village one however) I came around 1pm on a Thursday and had no wait for my solo lunch date. The service was quick and prompt with suggestions and taking my order. I originally wanted the chawanmishu but was told it takes 20 min to make so I ultimately went with the servers suggestion of the agedashi tofu. The tofu pieces were so silky and had a good bite to it, and there was enough bonito flakes to complement the tofu! I also got the ebitan udon for the tempura. The udon noodles were fresh and had a good chew to it and the broth had a lot of depth, though I did feel like adding a lot of spicy flakes to it. The tempura was not too oily and lightly crisped! To end it all, they gave out frozen grapes with the checks which were soo good after the meal!
Worth the wait and lives up to the anticipation.
The fact that they have a larger assortment than most ramen or udon restaurants really appealed to me. Great beginnings that improved the overall experience. Our main courses were the yaki stir fry for me and the tantan udon for my wife. It was sufficient to sate our hunger for a late dinner and a light lunch the following day. In this Soho neighborhood, there are a lot of excellent restaurants to choose from, so this one should be at the top of your list, particularly if you're craving noodles but not Italian.
Best udon in the world
They have the best udon ever! I took my dad who was visiting from Korea and he loved it that we went three times within two weeks of our NYC stay. Service was fast and all the staffs were super nice. We recommend chicken tatsuta-age which is a fried chicken appetizer, niku udon, ebiten udon, and yasai kakiage. It may not look like it but portion was also huge that we were so full after our meal. We had reservations for two of out visits but we were also able to sit right away when we went right when they opened.
We made reservations through Resy for Saturday night dinner.
They have a 10 minute grace period if you are running late. And you are notified via text when your table is ready. We sat at a nice booth in the back of the restaurant that comfortably seated 4. Restrooms are downstairs and well maintained. Points awarded for clean restrooms, as it means they take pride in all areas of the restaurant. For apps we ordered their Chicken Tatsuta-age, and Chawanmushi. The Tatsuta-age comes in either 6 or 10 pieces. We opted for 10 and were pleasantly surprised by how juicy the chicken was. We were forewarned that the chawanmushi would take about 35 minutes to prepare. It was worth the wait, and I do not usually think any food is worth a lengthy wait. For udon - we ordered the Gyunan, Nishin, Kamonan, and Curry. All were delicious in their own ways. They come out from the kitchen nice and hot. The noodles are handmade and plentiful in each bowl. Will be back and do recommend. A must try for anyone in NY.
We stopped by for lunch after a visit to the color factory
We stopped by for lunch after a visit to the color factory and had a wait of about 45 minutes for 2 people at around 1 pm on a Saturday afternoon (not bad!). Note that they are strict about outside food or beverage, so we had to toss the Starbucks that we picked up while waiting for our table. Most of the tables are communal so we were wedged between two groups of people, one of which was talking about how this is the best udon in the city. Given that this is the first udon that I've had in the city I cannot definitively make that declaration, however it was good enough that I probably won't try it anywhere else. I had the nabeyeki which was a huge portion that gave me the chance to try a few different things - chicken, sea eel, fish cake, shiitake mushroom, sansai, egg - with shrimp tempura on the side. HIghly recommend this option! Flavorful broth, perfectly cooked noodles... drooling thinking about it!
Hands down the best udon I've had in my life.
The texture of the noodle was so chewy and soft. Almost like mochi. The broth really hit the spot. The chicken was so crunchy and paired well with the sauce they served. Almost like spicy mayo with hit of vinegar.
This Japanese food was fantastic and it taste really great.
The Udon noodless taste really delicious and broth was rich in flavor. It has good amount of noodles. The texture was great too. The Chicken was really tasty and has good crunch. The place has homey vibe and it feels like dining in Japan. The sushi was so delicious and fresh. The server was nice very friendly. Good prices of food.
Waiter was amazing.
I asked for whatever the most popular thing is under $25 and they gave me the best udon I've had in my life. Honestly so good.
Best Udon I've had in NYC! The noodles itself are perfectly
Best Udon I've had in NYC! The noodles itself are perfectly chewy and slightly firm, without getting soggy in the broth for the whole duration of the meal (like udon noodles often do). I had Curry Udon, and the broth was a great balance between dashi broth and curry and went so well together with the beef and spinach toppings. The portion is big and they also have a wide range of toppings you can add. I've been to Tsurutontan (another popular udon spot in NYC) a few times and for me Raku is the clear winner! No reservation, but there are so many fun bars in the area that you can pop into for a drink while you wait.
stellar udon but i'd say a litttooo overhyped.
we got in line right before opening and only had to wait a bit. karaage was SO fire and juicy and crispy! i got a simple udon and could really taste the freshness of the noodles, they were so crispy and qq. tempura was beautiful but just aight.
Food YES. Hostess NO.
I wanna say that the food was GREAT. The tastes are authentic and mouth watering. Service was alright. But the hostess needs replacing. She was rude, stressed and didnβt have the reservation list under control. It got messed up and the people that arrived later WITHOUT a reservation got seated first while we had to wait. She first said to us: 45 min wait. Sure. Not a problem. 45 minutes turned into 2+ hours. Only stayed because my friend really wanted to eat here. We specifically requested a table inside. Got asked if we were ok taking a table outside after 1.5 hours wait time. I knew she accidentally gave away our table. Again, food amazing. Hostess needs to go.
Raku
When the aroma of Raku's Niku Udon first hits my nostrils, I am drawn to it like a crack fiend to a lit crack spoon. I immediately get transported to a hole in the wall noodle shop in Kyoto that is playing lofi bangers that Shazam can't pick up. Deep cuts only. I came here alone on my lunch break today as on a cold rainy day, my heart, mind, and soul immediately go to a Raku meal. This is a fantastic place for a solo meal to just come and enjoy your own company... while we are on the topic I get so annoyed when people be posting about how they are going on solo meals. Like can't you just go do that and not post about it? Was it really a solo meal if you gotta tell everyone about it?..... Well I guess I'm doing that now just in Yelp form ahahaha damn. The Niku Udon's spice level is just enough to make your nostrils run and let out one of those quick little "woooo" breaths out of your mouth, which is my idyllic spice level. The voluminous bowl, which consists of a light flavorful broth, silk noodles, beef short-rib, nori sansho chili oil, tendon, and honeycomb tripe is my hangover cure. Well that and a couple puffs of a pre-roll but that's neither here nor there. I let out an audible "wow" on my final sip of the broth, as my soul needed it. My soul been hella tired lately idk why. My only complaint is that $27 before tax and tip is just steep. It can't be a weekly occurrence for me, as much as I would like it to. Once a quarter vibes smh. But that just seems to be the price of doing business these days in New York. I've spent $27 a lot worse...... Still my favorite rainy day meal in NYC. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__
Far better than expectations - lives up to its hype
I am always skeptical of soup. Raman is tasty but often doesn't live up to its hype. Raku has too many happy reviews for me to expect anything good. However, I was wrong - the hot udon with beef was amazing. The umami flavor was wonderful. We also had the pressed mackerel sushi and it didn't need any soy sauce. Dipping it a little did add some depth to the overall flavor. The uni canapes reminded me that I don't really like sea urchin. However, if you are a fan, they were enjoyed by others at the table. I hope to go back and try the udon again.
Authentic Udon in Soho
It was really good and authentic udon. Their fried chicken appetizer was really good too and went great with your udon. I also recommend the yuzu sparkling juice.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venueβs rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response⦠how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been βmatchedβ with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

Give the best answerVirtual Name & Email on reservation
Hi Community,
I am new to this site and just recently bought a reservation here. I noticed that on the reservation page, it is booked under a random name and a virtual email address.
I can't find any button to change either the name or the email for this reservation I bought. So, should I just say that random name when I arrived at the restaurant? Not really sure about the procedures.
