Lovely spot if not a pricey wine list.
Wonderful waitstaff and delicious food. I thought it was a great place!
Be the first to ReplyI've been a huge fan of Raoul's for a while- love the steak
I've been a huge fan of Raoul's for a while- love the steak frites and brunch and the truffle beignets are also amazing. Finally made it out there early enough to have one of the burgers and WOW. Best burger in the city for sure- meat melts in your mouth and the au poivre sauce is inspired. The staff at Raoul's are also super nice and make it a great experience every time!
Be the first to ReplyBest steak Au poivre I've ever had.
The sauce was incredible. We got the Brussels sprouts to start and they were also delicious. Amazing portions, the vibe in here is adorable. Will def be back for the steak but really wanna try the Au poivre burger next!
Be the first to ReplyThis is a classic soho steakhouse located on a quiet street.
When you walk in you're greeted with an 1960s style bar. There is sitting area in the back, bar, and outside however if you're walk in you're most likely to be sitting outside. There's free coat check too. We ordered the steak au poivre which was a 9oz steak with a black peppercorn sauce on top and a side of fries as well as the bread and escargot for an appetizer. The food was cooked well. The steak was a bit more firm that I would've liked but the sauce made up for it. The escargot was cooked well and not too buttery. The real star of the show was the bread. You have to pay for it but it was baked well and came with radish which was a unique twist. Lastly for dessert we ordered the crème brûlée to share which had a great hard layer on top. Overall the food was good but the steak was a bit lackluster for the price point. You're really coming here for the ambiance and to be seen at a place that is hard to reserve on a Friday night.

When you spend $750 for 4 people and the food was NOT fabulous ( booze was maybe 200$) AND then you have an obnoxious dude come up to your table ... while you're waiting for them to re run the bill since they overcharged us and we actually checked the bill AND caught the overcharge.... and tells us we need to leave because he needs the table ( we were there for max 2 hours) ... Nope!!! There actually IS A lovely way to communicate he needs the table... but he definitely doesn't Know how to do that... AND it was sooooo incredibly off putting !!! I will will never go to Raouls again... I'll take Balthazar 100000 times over this 'cramped joint w a shitty attitude and mediocre food ' ps there's a reason why I had not been there in 20 years...just sayin'
Be the first to ReplyIf I am paying $30 for a burger, it better be the best d**n
If I am paying $30 for a burger, it better be the best d**n burger I've ever had. And... it was.I came here for brunch and everything was exceptional. Our server Alex was an absolute gem and was so personable and funny. Queen slayed and made our experience better. The burger there's no way to describe how amazing it was. The watercress salad provided a nice freshness, the seasoning on the burger was pleasant, and the au poivre sauce was Chefs kiss. You have to go on the weekend to get their burger because they have limited amounts on the weekday. They open up reservations 1 week in advance so plan your visit accordingly.

I called with a special request after I had emailed to 2 different addresses with no response, I was told to call back at 5:15pm and they had someone to handle stuff like that. I called back and was told very rudely, I was given misinformation and they could not do ANYTHING for the birthday guest? Then hung up on. Whoever the general manager of this restaurant is, I think her name is Alice, should be fired! I have never been treated so badly by a restaurant manager!
Be the first to ReplyWe stopped in to Raoul's today after my friend told me
We stopped in to Raoul's today after my friend told me about their marvelous burger. Luckily, we had a reservation, since the place was completely full when we arrived. Our entire party ordered the burger. Our waiter informed us that the chef recommends it cooked at medium rare temperature, but two of us opted for medium and one medium well. The burger comes with a generous portion of fries and au poivre sauce on the side. For the best experience, cut your burger in half and then dip it in the sauce. I took a bite without the sauce and it was delicious on its own. The burger was well-seasoned, juicy, and came with a light and crispy bun. With the sauce, it was absolutely astounding. I can definitely see the hype. For dessert, we ordered the profiteroles, which are drizzled with chocolate sauce at your table. I thought these were delicious as well. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, and our experience was pretty smooth. I would definitely return for another burger in the near future.
Be the first to ReplyHad a girl's nite out and had the best time here.
It was definitely a night we'll never forget and our restaurant experience here was a part of it. Nick was our server and gave us top notch service. Professional, cool and funny. We ordered the escargot, steak, rabbit gnocchi, foie gras and coconut bread pudding dessert. Foie gras was insanely delicious! Still thinking about it! OMG! And I loved the rabbit gnocchi and coconut bread pudding . Steak and escargot was ok. The ambiance was great. I'd definitely go back and would try this burger next time! The restaurant was one of the highlights of our trip!
Be the first to ReplyI had really high hopes going in but I was pretty
I had really high hopes going in but I was pretty disappointed when I left. The setup is first come first serve for their burger on the weekday. You have to get there as early as possible to grab a seat at the bar where they only serve a limited amount of burgers per weekday. The better option is to go for brunch where there is no restriction for the burger and you could dine at a table. The setup is a cool kinda grungy but the dining area is super tight. There is not much room at all, they really do fill as many tables as they can here. The food:Jumbo Lump Crab Beignets- Fresno chile remoulade. I really enjoyed this app since it was very tasty and I really enjoyed the sauce but I really didn't notice any crab in the beignet. If you told me it was just fried dough, I would believe it. <a href="https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=j76Jp5-1nVuNAhdBV-hwXw&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA">yelp.com/user_local_phot…</a>Raoul's Burger au Piovre- St Andre cheese, cornichon & pommes frites. This was the main reason my friend and I visited but I was pretty disappointed. First, I know the burger supposed to be uniquely peppery but it was so damn peppery, it's literally all I could taste. I thought there was too much peppercorn and to top it off, they left them in huge chunks. I also found the burger to be very rich, so I was really happy that I split this burger, I don't think I would have been able to finish one on my own. Oh, actually it was black pepper and arugula as the only flavor profiles I remember from the burger. The fries were good, nicely seasoned. <a href="https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=VFRAo25W7RLS_rDGevC7TQ&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA">yelp.com/user_local_phot…</a>Steak Au Poivre- Pommes frites. This is another dish that was bit of a let down. Yet again, I know I was expecting black pepper but it was so much pepper and yet again it was way too coarse of a grind. I just remember what felt like eating whole pieces of black peppercorn. I also wasn't in love with the quality of the steak. <a href="https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=iw9Blc4Of0Jv_9tLD_jNoA&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA">yelp.com/user_local_phot…</a>Banana Coconut Bread Pudding- With salty toffee sauce & whipped crème fraiche. I really enjoyed this a lot. I thought this had so much flavor and texture and very pronounced banana flavor throughout.I would get this again. <a href="https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Ximai8hdwPgkUImsjRicfA&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA">yelp.com/user_local_phot…</a>

Raoul's is always a great idea! Classic, really well-done french fare in soho. Makes a great martini
Be the first to ReplyMaybe one of the best steaks I've had.
On the nicer end ($$$?) but food is delicious. Apparently they have an amazing limited set of burgers each day that people line up early for, but I didn't get to try it If it's your birthday you should flag it and they can make a special dessert with a beautiful sugar / Choco cage that melts
Be the first to ReplyLove French food.
Found out this place recommended by a friend that lives here in NYC. Had to check out this place out!Burger 5/5Beignet 5/5Very small joint & can be easily missed.
Be the first to ReplyI recently visited raouls for my 7th time.
It's one of my favorite burgers in the city; however, It's far from my favorite restaurant. They all say "12 burgers a night" or "were sold out of burgers" that's simply a lie. I sat down here by myself about a year ago after a really bad day. I'm very passionate about food but I believe I am not in the same tax bracket as a lot of their clientele. I grab a seat at the bar at about 7:30 and I'm told "sorry bud, sold out of burgers, the steak is really good though." The steak is ok but after trying their entire menu, the burger is the only thing worth going for. Everything else is very mediocre. I tell the bartender "I'd love the steak but it's a bit out of my budget." At this point he says "well then you're probably at the wrong restaurant." I end up ordering the steak. 30 minutes later two business men sit down at the bar, they order a bottle of red wine, and they both get burgers. I asked them "how did you get the burger" and they said "keep coming, once they get to know you, you can get a burger anytime." I then confronted the bar tender about the situation. He then said "when you sit down and order a water and a burger your check is $30 and I get a $6 tip. It's just not worth it for me." At this point in my life I was trying to get my life on track and that meant cutting out alcohol. The bar tender has now excluded me from the restaurant for not only my financial situation but also not drinking alcohol. Who started this thing where it's cool and chic to be a rude bar tender. Just stop, I'm just trying to eat a burger lol

You know its going to be a great meal when it starts with french butter and radishes. Raouls is cozy, comfortable, delicious. The space and the food made it feel like we were at a friend's house (a super cool friend) enjoying a Thursday dinner with amazing food and wine. Some memorable dishes were the melt in your mouth foie gras - perfectly glazed and mineraly. The escargot - we were obsessed with the indulgent, salty, creaminess of the sauce. We really enjoyed the fresh oysters and the steak frites - they nailed the medium rare and they nailed the fries. The wine selection was great! We enjoyed the vast wine list and the helpful and friendly sommelier. Thank you for the great meal in the great space. We will be back again and again.
Be the first to ReplyGo for the great food.
The very professional staff. The good music and party vibe. Or all of the above. We recently enjoyed a wonderful birthday dinner here. Are repeat customers.
Be the first to ReplyWent here recently for our anniversary.
We had a good time. We had a 5:15 reservation and were the first people seated for the night which is always a bit awkward lol. Although the food was good (especially the artichoke and crab beignets) - I'd say it's super pricey and the meal wasn't timed well. Everything came out on top of each other and if an entree is 70+ bucks you'd except to have time to enjoy your courses beforehand. I absolutely detest being rushed during a meal but I understand this is a bit out of my control. The desk au poivre was as good as the pictures suggest and I could drink the sauce. Overall - would return but maybe would sit at the bar the next time.
Be the first to ReplyMy new fav French place in the city Nestled in the middle
My new fav French place in the city Nestled in the middle of West village, Raoul's is an elegant and cute spot for delicious dinner! Was totally full on a Thursday night, so make sure to make a reservation.I must say, EVERYTHING WE TRIED WAS DELICIOUS! I am not easy to impress with food... but here I truly enjoyed every bite of food and sip of drink :)For cocktails we had French 75 and Aperol Spritz (delicious!) - very refreshing and perfectly made.We shared Crab beignets for appetizers (A MUST!) and had soft shell crab special and foie Gras for main course. YUMMY.Wanted to skip dessert but everything was too good so we went for a banana-coconut pudding and it was also amazing! This place is also knows for their burgers, but you can only get them for brunch or at the bar. Will have to come back :)Naomi was our waitress and made our experience even better with excellent service she provided, accompanied with a warm smile on her face. For more cool places in NYC and beyond, come say Hi on Insta @daria.newyork
Be the first to ReplyGood food with a good vibe.
Fun lovely place. Wouldn't say the food is out of this world, but a solid and strong good tasting with pleasing presentation.

Okay I know the steak frites here are their specialty and YES it was very good but the duck here??Whewwww so good and blows the steak frites out of the water imo. It's pretty loud inside, decor is interesting, and the dude with the bow tie at the front of the house is cool too.
Be the first to ReplyGood "steak au poivre", as well as the "burger au poivre,
Good "steak au poivre", as well as the "burger au poivre, but I can't give a higher rating,, nor recommend you visit because of the hostess, she was extremely rude and amateur! Imagine sitting 4 adults in a table where you could barely seat 2! When I requested nicely if we could move to a larger table, she barely acknowledged my request and just answered dryly "I'm just not going too"... so we were very uncomfortable! This place needs to hire seasoned and professional staff to match it's food!
Be the first to ReplyThe food was delicious! We asked to course out our meal in
The food was delicious! We asked to course out our meal in a few different courses because we wanted to try a lot of the menu but unfortunately their tables for two have very little room for sharing. The hostess situation was a bit confusing. We have our reservation name outside and was told to go inside. When we walked inside the place was packed. Bar was full. Random couples standing behind the seats at the bar either waiting for a seat at the bar or a table? We wouldn't know. It was a little chaotic, no one came up to us for 5 min after the hostess told us to walk in. Servers and food runners and busters were racing back and forth causing everyone standing waiting there, look like we were playing a game of frogger. We were finally escorted to our seats where we ordered a bottle of wine and looked over their menu. It's has a lot of my favorites. Escargot, steak tartar. Short ribs, and a few fish options. Every dish we ordered was delicious. It was my boyfriends birthday so I surprised him and told our sever so when our dessert arrived it was a little bit of a show. He loved the sugar cage around the profiteroles. Lovely ending to our night. Would definitely go back.
Be the first to ReplyGotta go once.
..You at least have to go once to Raoul's. The fries will bring you back again, as well as the quirkiness.....but brunch was just fine. Not certain we'd run back soon, but it's a well deserved staple in the Soho dining scene, and we enjoyed ourselves and the food.
Be the first to ReplyI came here with some friends for a fancy brunch this past
I came here with some friends for a fancy brunch this past weekend and if you're interested in ever coming to this restaurant, brunch is the way to go. The main reason for this is their famous burger; while they serve only 12 of them during dinner (and only at the bar), they do not have such limit for brunch! Recommend getting a reservation as it was busy the entire time, though you might be able to walk in at 11am. For the burger itself, it was everything it is hyped up to be. It has a black pepper crust (similar to the steak), cheese, greens, and a tasty dipping sauce you are meant to dunk the burger in (as instructed by our waiter) along with the thin fries. Is it worth $30? Probably not, but still very enjoyable. We also got the crab beignets as an appetizer, which were good but insanely small for the $24 price tag. Like I could probably fit all 6 in my mouth at the same time if I wanted to. Definitely pass on those. Service is great, but I'd say that is expected at a place like this. All in all, Raoul's is a nice place for a fancy brunch and you will have a nice time as long as you are comfortable with the elevated price tag.
Be the first to ReplyI haven't had a steak in over 3 years, but it was well
I haven't had a steak in over 3 years, but it was well worth the wait for Raoul's steak frites. Absolutely INCREDIBLE! I still think and talk about it. It was perfectly medium rare and tender, and the fries allow you to enjoy every last bit of the indulgent gravy. We also shared the friseé salad (close second place - highly recommend), ham and truffle beignets, seared foie gras, and creme brûlée. I don't consider myself a fan of French food, but this place changed my mind. Raoul's is a historic institution with a lauded reputation for a reason. Such a fun vibe as well that draws an eclectic crowd ranging from businessmen enjoying dinner after work to young couples and friends sharing a special night out. I need to come back for the burger, which is apparently only served in limited quantities every day at brunch or at the bar.
